Zerodha app goes down – company acknowledges issue as users complain on social media

A number of users of brokerage firm <keyword id="759851" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zerodha" source="Orion">Zerodha</keyword> on Tuesday took to X, complaining about the technical glitch related to order placement, with orders not being executed and other problems, such as orders not exiting on the trading platform Kite.<br /><br />According to the outage monitoring website <keyword id="3191286" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="downdetector" source="Orion">Downdetector</keyword>, about 111 reports were registered, largely from Nagpur, Mumbai, and Delhi.<br /><br />About 73 per cent of users had issues with trading, 28 per cent had problems with the website, and 3 per cent had issues with login.<br /><br />Users turn to X to went out their frustration when they were not able to trade due to the glitch.<br /><br />"#zerodha where is trade ... Executed but not showing in position," a user wrote.<br /><br />"Again, <keyword id="19330144" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Glitch-in-Zerodha-" source="Orion">Glitch in #Zerodha.</keyword>.... Order Executed .... but Trade not showing in Position section," another user said.<br /><br />One more user held Zerodha accountable for the losses, stating, "Because of Zerodha's server issue, my positions haven't been visible for 10 minutes, causing me losses. Your team claims they can't do anything about it. Is it not your responsibility?".<br /><br />Acknowledging the problem, Zerodha issued an update on X after some time, saying, "Due to a technical issue, some of our users' positions were not displayed. This issue is now fixed. We regret the inconvenience caused".<br /><br />In June, Zerodha experienced an outage with its internet service providers due to issues with data feeds on Kite. However, the problem was later resolved.<br />

Brokerage firm <keyword id="19913826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zerodha" source="keywords">Zerodha</keyword>'s trading app <keyword id="20169505" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kite" source="keywords">Kite</keyword> on Monday suffered another technical glitch, marking the fourth straight month the platform has faced such issues. <br /><br />Several users took to the X platform complaining about the issue and demanding compensation for the "loss".<br /><br />"As expected.. These (intentional) glitches will happen again and again to make sure retail investors lose money in their trades. Discount brokers let you save on brokerage while manipulating their platforms from time to time and giving an excuse of a glitch," a user wrote.<br /><br />"Yes I too am affected, my 5000 profit became Rs 800 and I had to exit at Rs 880. couldn't execute other trades, we deserve compensation," another user said.<br /><br />One more user posted, "Today's morning excitement turned sour thanks to a glitch on #Zerodha. Went long, but couldn't place exit orders due to failed connectivity issues. Had to close hastily to avoid risk. Hits my target of 3705, could've cashed in big today".<br /><br />After multiple complaints from the Zerodha users, the brokerage firm acknowledged the issue.<br /><br />At 10:00 a.m., Zerodha in a post said: "Due to a connectivity issue, some of our users were intermittently facing issues with order placement on Kite. This issue is now resolved. Our partner bank (Yes Bank) was placed under moratorium by RBI. Entire team's been working all night to get services back up asap. We hope to be live in a few hours. Thanks for your patience. This came after several traders and investors took to social media platforms to report glitches and problems that restricted them from trading on the index. <br /><br />Accordingly, the technical glitch impacted intra-day trading on futures and cash segments. The glitch occurred as rates on NSE stopped updating at 10.08, which led to the closure of the F&amp;O segment by 11.40 am and the cash market by 11.43 am. However, both the telecom service providers have communicated issues on their end, forcing the stock-exchange to halt trading.<br /><br />“We are working on restoring the systems as soon as possible. NSE had issues with streaming feeds for Nifty, Bank Nifty, and other indices from 10.06 am. I am guessing that they are restarting all the processes for which they had to stop trading to fix the index feeds issue," said Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, in a tweet.<br /><br />This is not the first time India's largest stock exchange has faced technical glitches that forced it to halt trading. Last year, in June, erroneous price feeds for certain futures and options (F&amp;O) contracts disrupted trading <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/markets/erroneous-price-feeds-for-f-o-contracts-disrupt-trading-on-bank-nifty-120060401702_1.html">activity at NSE</a>, and brokers had to caution their investors to use limit or stop-loss orders. <br /><br />In <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/markets/national-stock-exchange-system-hit-by-glitch-in-final-minutes-of-trade-119092400058_1.html">September 2019</a>, the NSE systems faced trading outages, and investors were unable to place orders for 15 minutes.
