Gearing up for 2024 Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday announced that its general secretary <keyword id="1127225" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nara-lokesh" source="Orion">Nara Lokesh</keyword> will embark on a state-wide padyatra from January 27. <keyword id="19561" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="lokesh" source="Orion">Lokesh</keyword>, son of TDP president and former Chief Minister N. <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, will cover 4,000 km from Kuppam to Ichchapuram in 400 days. Titled '<keyword id="15902953" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="yuva-galam" source="Orion">Yuva Galam</keyword>', it will be an innovative platform for youth. It's a campaign to mobilise the youth to participate in the agenda-setting process, as well as to raise their voices to express their opinions and demand change. During the TDP's ongoing Idhem Kharma Mana Rashtraniki campaign, a large number of young people have been showing up and raising issues in the state that they would not have raised otherwise. The TDP had now entrusted Nara Lokesh with leading this walkathon to provide a platform for our youth and others to come together, speak up and fight for what they deserve. TDP's Andhra Pradesh unit president K. Acchannaidu said during the padyatra, Lokesh will interact with people from various sections of society to know their problems. The march will begin from Kuppam, the Assembly constituency in Chittoor represented by Chandrababu Naidu. The route map will be announced soon. The TDP alleges that Andhra Pradesh has been suffering under YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule for the last three-and-a-half years. "One person commits suicide every four days because of the unemployment. With over 1.5 crore people unemployed, our state has one of highest unemployment in the country. With skyrocketing fuel prices, we are leading the country's charts in paying the highest prices for petrol and diesel. During the last 3.5 years, every eight hours a woman in the state is victimised due to atrocities against her," the party said in a note released to mark the padyatra's announcement. "Due to backtracked development and lack of investments in the state, the future of youth in the state is at a crossroads. Youth constitute almost 50 per cent of the state's population but a mere 12% of the MPs from the state are under 40 years of age. We are unquestionably leading, but only in terms of drugs and alcohol abuse, crime rates. This is not what our people deserve," it added. The opposition party said Yuva Galam is a mass-outreach program by Nara Lokesh with the goal of sensitizing the youth and voters to the prevalent issues in current governance and interacting with them while walking 100 Assembly constituencies in the state. As the <keyword id="6528721" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="bans">bans</keyword> in India swirl around <keyword id="60137" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Beef">beef</keyword>, roast, and the reel, there’s a parallel blowback phenomenon that’s gathering steam on online social platforms in the country. This pushback comes from a cohort that currently dominates the country’s demographic data in numbers unimaginable. Make no mistake, <keyword id="2757439" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="yuva-india">YUVA INDIA</keyword> aka the youth population of India is out in virtual force to protest bans and find ways to get around them. Of course, their favourite dissent spots still remains <keyword id="6354632" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Social-media">social media</keyword> sites and portals, a parallel world they now inhabit 24/7. Tweeting, posting scraps and links to reel and other content on social media with abandon, Yuva India is using resources they readily possess to take their disdain for bans far and wide. They are grouping and rallying support so they can have their voices heard with greater clarity, and at louder decibels. 
 
As I watch the blowback phenomenon unfold around me, I am prompted to ask the very same question that made me to write my book, ‘Yuva India: Consumption &amp; Lifestyle Choices of a Young India’. Why are the youth taking to and harbouring attitudes, and exhibiting behaviour far removed from their predecessor generation. Why are they angry at the bans when their parents are taking the ‘don’t rock the boat’ route out? Why are they vocal when their parents stay silent? 
The answers to this ‘radical’ behaviour rise to the surface once you dive deep and sift through what makes up the young Indian psyche. Here are five critical elements of their personality makeup that’s at the heart of the vocal pushback we are witnessing. 
 1. Composite Identity – For the first time in the country we are bearing witness to the rise of a generation that has taken on a composite identity. An outcome of multiple cultural influences, Yuva India is local, Indian, and foreign at the same time. Which amply explains why a foreign hand conspiracy theory, the kind floated to discredit the <keyword id="6357643" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nirbhaya">Nirbhaya</keyword> documentary doesn’t cut any ice with them. Far from fostering cross cultural angst, in the Yuva India psyche, the bhelpuri, burger, and the biryani sit at the same table in perfect harmony. 
 
 2. Independent Ipseity – The young in India today sport selves that are fiercely independent. The desire to craft and dictate their own destinies is only growing stronger by the day among youth cohorts. This means Yuva India wants to decide for itself. Impositions by others are not welcome. A ban to young Indians is akin to someone on the outside doing the thinking and deciding for them. That is unacceptable. It’s no wonder then Barun Sen from Bangalore had this as his tweet -

3. Secure Spirit – Inside their heads young Indians harbour a sense of security that’s way beyond what their predecessors nursed. Growing up in conditions of greater economic and social security, Yuva India has fostered a healthy sense of the self that allows them to admit to their own infirmities. Not so among older India. Their insecurity prompts them to sweep the unpalatable under the carpet. Riding on enhanced psychological security, young Indians are ready to admit and own up to problems. That explains why they are ready for a documentary that may point fingers at the society they populate. 
 
4. Sociable Aptitude – Though fiercely independent, young’s India’s considerations go beyond their own selves. This is amply demonstrated by reactions to the beef ban. Many of the young men and women who don’t eat beef on religious grounds are willing to stand up for those who do. They don’t see this as a sneaky opportunity to impose their majoritarian will on a minority. Instead they want to adopt an attitude that says ‘live and let live’! 
 
5. Altruist Temperament – Young India’s individualist inclinations are paradoxically coupled with a desire to make a difference in other people’s lives. Such a propensity is why the youth come out in big numbers to protest and participate in movements they believe will make a difference. They know they are all in it together. A fall for one is not seen in isolation. Instead they see it as a possible descent for many in the future. So they rally around. For each other, and to protest bans. 
 
It’s important we recognize young India to be a different breed from what we’ve encountered in the past. It’s equally important we see them as our hope for the future. For now of course they are our chance at, as Barun put it, dodging being BAN galored!

He is going to succeed 76-year-old Sumitra Mahajan — the 16th Lok Sabha Speaker who did not contest the elections this time. However, there is no official announcement yet. Om Birla’s wife congratulated him by saying this was a proud moment for the family. <keyword id="513880" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pinaki-Misra">Pinaki Misra</keyword>, the Biju Janata Dal’s parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha, said that his party, although not a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), had decided to support Birla. "The BJP, which has a clear majority in the Lok Sabha, has nominated Om Birla for the post of the Lok Sabha Speaker and sought our support for him. Since we have always had constructive cooperation with the Centre, we will support the proposal," said Mishra. The 57 year old Birla, was once a key leader of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha and reportedly has close ties with Amit Shah. He also played a significant role in BJP-led Ram Janmabhoomi movement in the 1990s. The decision to nominate Birla came soon after JP Nadda took the place as working BJP yuva president. Birla has worked closely with Nadda too. Om Birla worked as a Vice-President of BJP youth wing when Nadda was serving as the president of the same. Om Birla, who has been contesting as an MLA from Kota, kept winning from 2003 to 2014. He represented the Kota-Bundi Lok Sabha constituency. He<a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/om-birla-won-t-be-first-two-time-mp-to-be-elected-as-lok-sabha-speaker-1551010-2019-06-18"> reportedly</a> had a case registered against him in 2018 during his entire political career. He was accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to his income. The <keyword id="49015" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajasthan-High-Court">Rajasthan High Court</keyword> dismissed the case in 2019.

Meet Om Birla,India’s newly elected Lok Sabha speaker

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is inviting applications for technicians, technical and scientific assistants, draughtsman and other posts. With this, the space agency plans to fill as many as 150 vacancies. The vacancies are at the UR Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru. Interested candidates can apply online at the official website isro.gov.in. Last date to apply is March 6, 2020. The selected engineers will be hired on a monthly compensation of up to ₹44,900, depending on the qualification. In 2019, ISRO was also featured among the top five workplaces in India by the online job search platform Indeed, turning out to be the only government organisation on the list. According to the official announcement, the age of the applicants should be between 18 and 35 years. Science students with bachelor’s degree or diploma are eligible to apply. To assume the eight season of the <keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword> to be a just a sporting spectacle would be akin to missing the wood for the trees. Sure, there will be the cricket matches that are played, but if you step away from the games and drop the squint, you will behold the IPL as pure marketing magic. Remember, Marketing in the end is pandering to consumers’ needs, wants, and desires! The IPL on its part has gone beyond just gaming to conjuring up a spectacle that bites deep into the basest of human wants and desires. 
 So if the IPL is not just cricketing action to the frenzied viewership that follows it, what is it about? To figure that out, it’s important to understand what the IPL does to millions of its followers. Again, it’s a shift in perspective that is required so the IPL is not seen merely as a sporting show, but as one that peddles pure <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword>, and that’s slowly but surely creeping and ensconcing itself firmly into the India’s socio-cultural scene. It’s no wonder then brands trucking on the IPL bandwagon including its title sponsor <keyword id="44672" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pepsi">Pepsi</keyword> are heralding the arrival of the 8th season with a ’Kyunki Aa <keyword id="2809955" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Raha-Hai-India-Ka-Tyohaar">Raha Hai India Ka Tyohaar</keyword>!’. So now the IPL is being officially positioned as ‘India’s tyohaar’, or ‘India’s festival’! Note, that’s part of the marketing magic I was talking about! The numbers too bear testimony to the growing habitual popularity of the IPL. Last season, IPL’s reach in India touched 560 million, and this season as a result, the brand is expected to mop up revenues to the tune of Rs. 950 crores. 
 
So what is the IPL conjuring up that is making it a part and parcel of India’s socio-cultural lore? Here are four things the IPL is doing that is getting Indians engaged, lock, stock and barrel - 
 1. Enabling Conversations – Everything the IPL does, before, during, and after the event is done loud and in the public eye. So the auction that includes <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> celebrities, the team selection, and arrival of foreign players, the press conferences, and even the spats are all intentionally displayed in the public square via superb media management. As a result at a base level the IPL starts and keeps a conversation going amongst its die-hard followers for the time it’s around. Stuck to cubicles in their everyday lives the otherwise bored followership now tunes in to participate in IPL enabled conversations of their own making! 
 
2. Creating Communities – The IPL does a smart job as a creator of ‘artificial communities’. Based on team and player loyalties, cohorts are formed across the country. These cohorts consist of fans both in the stadiums and on the outside swearing by their respective teams. The affiliations so formed are light hearted and nothing like the patriotic fervour driven banding together that’s seen when it’s the national team that’s playing. In the case of IPL communities, the tone and tenor of the affiliations have more to do with fun, and are mostly playful in nature. This is best witnessed in the within-cohort and across-cohort conversations. 
 3. Brandishing Identities – The IPL gives its fans the perfect opportunity to construct and brandish identities via affiliations to the teams in the ring. The teams too have capitalised on this desire for image-display by engaging with their fans. 		 4. Peddling Revelry – To its followers in India, IPL is unrestrained merry making. Amidst the cricket played in stadiums, there are the cheerleaders and the fireworks, there are movie stars in the stands, and then there’s an <keyword id="6366415" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="atmosphere">atmosphere</keyword> of unbridled merriment. IPL comes across less like a sacred sporting event, and more like a boisterous jamboree. Such a carnival like atmosphere that’s peddled inside the stadium is pure marketing aimed at giving IPL followers a chance to de-stress and enjoy a game that’s nowhere near its puritan best. It’s no wonder then the IPL has raised the hackles of those who follow the sport with a puritanical zeal. The latter complain and call the IPL a non-cricketing event. Truth is, they are right! What they obviously missed is that such a breakaway from what is pure cricket is by design! 
		 
		Here’s a note of caution. What the IPL must worry about for the future is what all brands must spend time pondering on. That of consumer and viewer fatigue. Over time, every marketing solution loses relevance because a better one pops out of the woodwork pandering to consumer wants and desires with a superior proposition. For now, the IPL seems an unchallenged indulgence to its followers. That’s because the people behind this spectacle have constructed a pure entertainment product that’s captured and kept the imagination of its followers. 
		For now guess what, there’s much all of us can learn from such an abandonment of puritanism!

How the IPL is now India's 'Tyohaar'

BANGALORE: Russian supercomputing company RSC group and the Russian Academy of Sciences have proposed collaboration with India to set up advanced supercomputing facilities that will rival China’s Tianhe-2, the world’s fastest supercomputer. 
 
“India has many skills for building supercomputers. It is very strong in software,” said Alexey Shmelev, co-founder and chief operations officer of RSC group and delegate to the Russian Academy of Sciences. “I am ready to share technology with India. I guess there would not be many players who are willing to do so.” 
 In a letter last month, <keyword id="2187361" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Boris-Shabanov">Boris Shabanov</keyword> of the Russian Academy of Sciences has invited a delegation from the Indian Institute of Science and the <keyword id="58906" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Karnataka-government">Karnataka government</keyword> to explore the possibility of a supercomputing centre in Bangalore. 
 
CNR Rao, a Bharat Ratna awardee who heads the scientific advisory council to the prime minister, said it is difficult to assess a potential collaboration right away, but was of the view that “the Chinese are way ahead”. 
 Tianhe-2, developed by China’s National University of Defense Technology, retained its position as the world’s number one system according to TOP500 project which ranks the most powerful computer systems in the world. It beat Titan, a US supercomputer which briefly held the world speed crown. India’s supercomputer Param Yuva-II is ranked at 83 while <keyword id="6358826" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Russia">Russia</keyword>’s Lomonosov supercomputer is ranked at 37. 
 
If the joint cooperation between Russia and India is found viable, it can result in a computing system as big as a basketball court that can perform approximately as many operations per second as several million personal computers. 
 In 2009, India had taken a huge leap in supercomputing with EKA which was then the fourth fastest supercomputer in the world and fastest in Asia. “But in the next few years, China took over and it has retained its position as the world’s number one system,” said Vipin Chaudhary, former chief executive of <keyword id="643605" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Computational-Research-Laboratories">Computational Research Laboratories</keyword>, a subsidiary of <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> that built the EKA supercomputer.

Russia Offers To Develop Supercomputer With India To Counter Chinese Supremacy

A <keyword id="6354904" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="tweet">tweet</keyword> started by Reditt that provoked a ‘back and forth’ between online retailers <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> got online <keyword id="6354632" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Social-media">social media</keyword> buzzing in India last week. Though Flipkart began its first tweet on a slightly edgy note, it ended the talk-back with grace. Flipkart‘s final tweet stopped with a promise to celebrate Amazon’s claim that ‘there’s bit of Amazon in every e-commerce company’. 
 No sooner had the banter ended, social media users in India went on a sharing and commenting spree about the exchange between two of India’s top online retailers. Consider the Twitter numbers. Flipkart’s tweet portraying the delivery package as a dustbin attracted 767 retweets and 356 favorites. Amazon’s response got 444 retweets and 315 favorites. Flipkart’s final ‘we’ll drink to that’ tweet had 100 RTs and 98 favorites. Numerous scraps on Facebook walls on the exchange too sprang up in no time. What’s more, the comments and opinions expressed on various social portals and sites by netizens stayed firmly in the approving charitable zone. In fact, most people seemed to have enjoyed the banter. Soon, the buzz on social media was picked up by mainstream media with the ToI and <keyword id="23268" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="outlook">Outlook</keyword> magazine running stories on the banter.

So are there lessons to be learnt from this exchange, at a time when social media dominates business and people’s lives? You bet. Here are the 5 key takeaways for business and brands from the Amazon-Flipkart tweet exchange – 
 
1. When social, go cordial: It’s good to remember what is social can also go viral. If and when it does, the content that goes around must be pleasant enough for people to form favorable impressions. Both Amazon and Flipkart using wit and grace in that order ensured they stayed firmly in the ‘likable’ zone. 
 
2. When social, keep it real: Business and brands must learn to cultivate a human face. It’s what makes them seem real to people, and also endears them to the public at large. One way to appear real is to talk (read, tweet) like a real person. If you look closely at the tweet exchanges between Reddit, Amazon, and Flipkart it seems like its people doing a back and forth with each other. The tweets don’t come across as <keyword id="6354839" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="marketing">marketing</keyword> messages; instead they show up as ‘real talk’ among ‘real people’, aka business firms. 
 
3. When in sight, time it right: On a web-enabled social platform, timing’s everything. You’ve heard how timing’s important in comedy; ditto on social media. When the gauntlet was thrown by Flipkart, Amazon reacted ‘real-time’, and that made all the difference. Waiting would have killed the story, and also the interest levels of netizens and social media users. 
 
4. If it’s a loss of face, withdraw with grace: Flipkart’s reference to a dustbin in its tweet was smartly countered by Amazon with its ‘there’s a bit of Amazon’ retort. How did Flipkart in turn react? It acknowledged the witty riposte and closed with a promise to ‘drink to that’. Now that’s both classy and graceful. The result was that nobody came out scarred. Though Amazon scored, Flipkart joined in with best wishes, and netizens lapped up the gesture. 
 
5. Social fun needn’t be zero-sum: Too many times businesses have believed rivalry to be a zero sum game. If one has to win, the other has to lose. Of course, Flipkart and Amazon are keen rivals, yet they’ve shown with this banter that it’s not always about winning at another’s expense. That it’s also about engaging a common audience that both firms target. In doing so, everyone emerges a winner. The audience is engaged, the category grows, and both firms benefit. 
There’s much business and brands can learn from what will now become part of e-commerce legend in India. Why only business, there’s much we can learn too.

The discussion is crucial as both the budgets shape the financial direction of the country and the Union Territory, respectively. The Union Budget outlines the government's revenue and expenditure plans for the upcoming fiscal year, while the budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is a significant event considering the developmental needs. This includes the 124th Report on Construction of Toilets in Schools by CPSEs; the 125th Report on Rejuvenation of the Ganga (Namami Gange); the 126th Report on Avoidable Payment due to Non-Charging of Service Tax/GST from the Passengers; and the 127th Report on Action Taken by the Government on the Observations and Recommendations of the Committee contained in their 46th Report (16th Lok Sabha) on Implementation of the Public-Private Partnership Project at Chhatrpati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, among others. The reports were presented to the Speaker on February 23 and April 29, 2024, and to the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, on February 28 and May 13, 2024, before the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. The Speaker had ordered the printing, publication and circulation of the reports. As per the business list of the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will move the motion for election to the committee on the welfare of other backward classes. Union Budget 2024-25 key highlights: Angel tax to be scraped

Vijay Kiragandur, the founder of Hombale Films, said the company is planning to produce movies in all south languages. "We intend to invest Rs 3,000 crore for the next five years in the entertainment industry in India. We believe the entertainment industry will grow more and more. "It will be a mixed bag of stories. Every year there will be five-six films including one event movie. As of now we have plans of making movies in all south languages," Kiragandur told PTI in an interview. The goal, the producer said, is to reach out to a wider audience through culturally rooted stories. "We want to make something that is liked by the global audience, but we want it to be rooted in our culture and tradition. We want to leave something behind for the younger generation. We also want to contribute towards the Indian economy," he added. In order to expand their viewership, the Bangalore-based production banner has decided to join hands with writers and filmmakers from the Hindi film industry. Without divulging details, Hombale Films partner Chaluve Gowda said they have roped in two leading writers from Bollywood to pen movies for the banner. "We are working with a couple of writers in Hindi... Once the story is ready then we will look for directors and then actors. We first concentrate on writers because they are the ones who create the story," he said. The company's upcoming movie slate includes pan-India Prabhas-starrer "Salaar", set to be released on September 28. The action adventure film is directed by Prashanth Neel. They are also backing multilingual film "Dhoomam", Kannada action movie "Bagheera" and <keyword id="6356629" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tamil" source="Orion">Tamil</keyword> film "Raghuthata" with Keerti Suresh. The banner is launching Yuva Rajkumar, grandson of superstar Rajkumar, in one of their upcoming titles. The film will be directed by Santhosh Anandram and it will be released by the end of 2023. "For the next year we have four to five movies and for another two years we will have 12 to 14 movies," Kiragandur added. In 2024, there is a social thriller "Tyson" in pipeline with Prithviraj Sukumaran, "Richard Anthony" with Rakshit Shetty and a movie with director Sudha Kongara of "Soorarai Pottru" fame. Hombale Films, which was founded in 2013, tasted pan-India success in 2018 with period action "K.G.F: Chapter 1" starring Yash. The first film produced by the company was Puneeth Rajkumar-led "Ninnindale". This year the banner had a golden run at the global box office with "KGF: Chapter 2" and "Kantara" emerging as big successes. Both the movies have reportedly earned over Rs 2,000 crore worldwide. "We were able to beat some records that we created, like 'Kantara' became the highest grossing film in Karnataka. For 'KGF 2' the footfalls were six crore and for 'Kantara' it was about two-and-half to three crore," Kiragandur said. Also in the pipeline is the third part of "KGF", which Gowda said will become their focus after director Neel completes "Salaar". "There are plans to make 'KGF 3'. Currently, Prashant is busy with 'Salaar' and once he has completed the movie then he will work on the script (for 'KGF 3'). He has a storyline... It can happen next year or after that," the producer said.

The state-wise selected candidates will be announced on March 2, 2020 while the final list will come out on March 30. These candidates will be spread across ISRO centres in India — including Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Shillong. Percentage relaxation The applicant must have scored good marks in the 8th grade as it holds 60% weightage in the selection process. In addition, a certificate of performance in co-curricular activities like debates and essays shall be required while filling up the online application. Performance records at the state and national level shall be given an added advantage. District level prizes will be given 2% weightage while state level certificates will have 4% weightage. The national level and international participation will account for 6% and 10% weightage, respectively. The students from rural schools will have an added 15% weightage and the participants of NCC and NSS will also get 5% weightage.
