The same source has now confirmed that the laptop model is its ultraportable gaming laptop — the ROG Flow X13. It is a 13-inch gaming laptop that draws power from AMD's Ryzen 9 5980HS (top variant) mobile processor topped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. At CES, Asus revealed that it's using AMD's top binned CPUs for this model to ensure "highest quality silicon" for efficient performance. The display measures 13.3-inches having a 16:10 aspect ratio with both touch and stylus input. The global variant comes with either a 1080p (Full HD) 120Hz or a 4K 60Hz display with support for adaptive sync, which is likely to be the case in India. The display is also topped with Corning Gorilla Glass for an added later protection. The biggest highlight of the design is its ability to convert 360-degrees, which lets you use it as a regular laptop and a tablet as well. Another major highlight is its battery, which is said to last up to 18 hours, with 10 hours of expected battery life during continuous video playback. It comes with a 100 W USB Type-C PD charger which is claimed to charge 0 to 60% in around 39 minutes. Guessing ROG Flow X13's price in India is a little tricky as Asus offers two configurations of the laptop in the US - one with the 5900HS and a 120Hz, 1,920x1,200-pixel display and the other with a 5980HS-based "Supernova" edition with a 3,840x2,400, 60Hz screen. Both the versions are bundled with XG Mobile priced at $3300 (approx Rs 2,44,475) for Supernova, $2800 (approx Rs 2,07,434) for the standard model, and it can also be bought separately (without XG Mobile) at $1500 (approx Rs 1,11,125). I found this quite useful as I could set it differently based on whether I’m gaming or catching up on my favourite show. Another interesting feature at the back is a little window that gives you a glimpse of the hardware and provides RGB accent lighting. The device comes with stylus support, making it a great option for content creators. Coming to gaming, I had a great time gaming on the Flow Z13. The display offers 500 nits of peak brightness, which is more than enough if you’re gaming indoors. The high refresh rate makes it a great option for gamers, especially fans of first-person shooters. It comes with Adaptive sync with G-Sync support that ensures a smooth gaming experience. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is packed with top-end hardware and it is no surprise that the device performs excellently and is able to handle everything that you throw at it. It is equipped with the 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor with 14 cores and 20 threads. This is coupled with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 graphics. It comes with 16GB DDR5 5200MHz RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. If this is not enough, you can use the XG Mobile, the company’s external graphics unit and unleash the power of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. In addition to enhancing the gaming experience, the XG Mobile also offers you additional connectivity ports, including USB ports, DisplayPort, HDMI and ethernet. <div type="image" title="XG Mobile" msid="100850941" hostid="261" sizebytes="1054818" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The XG Mobile&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> It is easy to connect the XG Mobile with Flow Z13 and takes less than a minute to do so. With such a powerful device in my hands, I played Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 5. Both the games performed well and the device was able to handle them without any issues. The powerful hardware, coupled with the high-resolution display makes it a treat for gamers. While the device is able to handle the heat in normal gaming, extended gaming sessions do heat it up a bit, especially in the current summer weather. Coming to the battery, this is one area where the device disappoints a bit. It is equipped with a 56Whr battery. With normal browsing and some video streaming, it provides a little under five hours of battery life. If you decide to game on it, the battery life drops to under 2 hours. Despite being portable, gaming may not always be possible. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is a unique product that is suitable for gamers looking for a premium device they also multi-task on. At the end of the day, the ROG Flow Z13 costs a huge amount and may not be suitable for all. If you are willing to spend the big bucks and are looking for a gaming and productivity device, the ROG Flow Z13 is worth considering. However, the laptop is not very useful without a massive 240W charger that comes alongside. So if you want to game on the go at its full potential, you will need to carry the heft anyway. The lid has a nice ribbed texture that feels smooth and premium to the touch. The ROG Flow X16 has a solid metal hinge design that allows you to open the lid smoothly and flip the screen 360 degrees. <div type="image" title="Asus ROG Flow X16" msid="93894835" hostid="261"></div>Asus has given a textured carbon-like finish behind the lid and on the palm rest, along with premium branding on the lid, which looks pretty cool, in my opinion. The laptop also has a smooth and premium finish surrounding the keyboard with a textured finish. <div type="image" title="Asus ROG Flow X16" msid="93894818" hostid="261"></div>The 16- inch ROG Nebula HDR Display, with a QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, is a visual delight no matter what you are doing. I tried everything, from gaming to watching movies and office work that included editing documents and editing photos, and the display never failed to impress me. Also, the colour accuracy is pretty amazing in ROG X16 Flow. The display supports HDR and Dolby Vision and, at 1,100 nits of peak brightness, gives decent viewing and gaming experience in average daylight. The ROG Flow X16 also comes with a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut that aims to enhance colour grading, accuracy and tone, which is visible while gaming. It’s among the best displays on a gaming laptop. <div type="image" title="Asus ROG Flow X16" msid="93894846" hostid="261"></div>The 360-degree hinge design allows you to use the ROG Flow X16 in different orientations, including tablet, stand, and tent modes. The keyboard is decent for gaming and typing as the keys are spaced out evenly, reducing the travel time, but it lacks a dedicated numpad. The keyboard also features a single-zone RGB backlit keyboard with different preset modes and levels of brightness. Volume controls and ASUS Armoury crate hotkeys are placed separately above the keyboard for ease of functionality. <div type="image" title="Asus ROG Flow X16" msid="93894875" hostid="261"></div>The trackpad is fast and responsive, and it supports multi-touch gestures. Given the specification, ROG Flow X16 is a gaming powerhouse. I have played graphically demanding games like Sniper Elite 5, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, Halo and many more, and Ryzen 9 has done a good job so far. Further, I tested a bunch of AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 6 at the ultra setting with HDR on, and the result was commendable. Besides gaming, I have thrown almost everything at the Asus ROG Flow X16, which include opening documents in Office and Chrome along with multiple tabs and apps running in the background, photo editing and ROG Flow X16 didn’t disappoint me. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Thermal performance" comment="subhead" text="Thermal performance">Thermal performance</cmsannotation> I used ROG Flow X16 for prolonged gaming hours, and in my usage, I felt that the laptop got warm, but thanks to ROG's cooling-frost force technology, there was no lag. I used the laptop for casual browsing, including sending emails and using Slack, along with a cranked-up refresh rate, which lasted for two hours.
