Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 26 (ANI): Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens and Mumbai's famous Wankhede stadium are likely going to host the semi-final matches of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as per sources in ICC. The ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in India from October 5 to November 19, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai are all set to host the semi-finals of the showpiece event. The host of the 1987 World Cup Eden Gardens, which was won by Allan Border's led Australia will host one of the semi-final matches while the Wankhede stadium, which hosted the final of the 2011 ODI World Cup, won by Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side India will host the other semi-final while Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium is going to host the final match. The sources also confirmed Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram as the 12 cities to host ICC ODI World Cup matches. Over the course of 46 days, 48 matches, including three knockout games, are scheduled to be contested. The league matches are likely to be held in 10 cities, with two more cities hosting warm-up games before the main event. A day before the official announcement of the schedule in Mumbai the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour 2023 has been launched on a stratospheric scale, giving fans around the world a unique opportunity to interact with the coveted trophy, ahead of the marquee event in India. The Tour was launched in spectacular fashion, with the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Trophy being launched into the stratosphere, 120,000 feet above the earth, before making a stunning landing at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 2023 edition of the Trophy Tour will be the biggest by far, giving the fans a chance to connect with the coveted piece of silverware in various countries and cities around the globe. Starting on June 27, the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Trophy will travel to 18 countries around the world, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, the United States of America and the host country India. INOX to screen matches of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 live in its cinema halls in India

A day after the Indian cricket board said that it will not be able to host the <keyword id="44040" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="T20-World-Cup">T20 World Cup</keyword>, the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a statement confirming that the multi-nation tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (<keyword id="6358356" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="uae">UAE</keyword>) and <keyword id="62607" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="oman">Oman</keyword> from October 17 to November 14. Among his key contributions was 73 against Pakistan in India’s opening match, a breathtaking 137 against South Africa, and a 100 against Ireland. Dhawan loves England Dhawan announced himself at the ODI level during India’s 2013 Champions Trophy triumph – where he was selected as the Player of the Tournament on the basis of being the highest run getter. That was on English pitches. He scored back-to-back hundreds in his first two innings – 114 against South Africa in Cardiff and 102 not out against West Indies at The Oval while amassing 363 runs from 5 matches at an average of 90.75. It is important to note that Dhawan was returning to the one-day fold after close to two-years, and was drafted into the team based on his cavalier Test debut in the home series against Australia. He was once again the top scorer in the subsequent edition of the Champions Trophy in 2017 scoring 338 runs from 5 matches at an average of 67.60. In the league phase, Dhawan scored 68 in the win against Pakistan, 125 against Sri Lanka in a losing cause, and 78 against South Africa. Cricket World Cup 2019: Here’s why Shikhar Dhawan may be India’s best bet in batting

It could be a rough day for the U.S. men's national team.
The groups are made by dividing all 32 teams into four "pots" and choosing one team from each pot. The problem for the U.S. is simple - many of the worst teams in the entire tournament are in their pot, meaning they can't end up in a group with teams like Iran or Honduras.
Here are the pots, which FIFA made official today (a team from Pot 4 will be randomly drawn into Pot 2 on Friday to make all pots equal):

When you do the math, you see that <keyword id="1739461" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="USMNT">USMNT</keyword>'s chances of getting a favorable draw are slim. Here are the odds for where the U.S. will end up within its group (rankings <a href="http://espnfc.com/spi/rankings/_/group/uefa?cc=5901">based on Nate Silver's SPI</a>):

<li>Second-best team in group - 20.2%</li>
<li>Third-best team in group - 54.4%</li>

Not great! Only two teams in each group make it to the knockout stage.
Seven of eight teams in Pot 1 are better than the U.S., according to SPI. Switzerland is the only outlier.
If Greece or Croatia isn't randomly drawn into Pot 2, three of the eight teams in Pot 2 will be better than the U.S.
Six of eight teams in Pot 4 will be better than the U.S. (seven of eight if Greece or Croatia is drawn into Pot 2).
That's why the odds are stacked against the U.S - they just have so many teams to avoid.
Now let's get to the real nightmare, the group of death. There's a 23.4% chance the U.S. ends up as the lowest-ranked SPI team in its group.
