That's when it hit me that I've been using the same basic desk and chair since I graduated from college a decade ago.</p><p>Back in 2010, I walked into Bed Bath &amp; Beyond during one of its back-to-school sales — 20% coupon in-hand, of course — and bought a desk and chair set from its dorm section. Yes, I may have been a college graduate, but I was also making that low fresh-out-of-school salary. That was a decade ago, and since then, I've had stretches where I work from home and I finally decided to invest in some new, stylish, and most importantly, comfortable home office furniture.</p><p>Much like electronics and appliances, new furniture is the type of purchase that requires a little research before heading to the stores.</p><p>My research led me to IKEA, which was great for my budget but subpar and disappointing in quality; fancy furniture showrooms, which brought tears to my eyes once I realized how much quality would cost; and finally, my friend who filled me in about <a href="https://go.skimresources.com?id=35871X943606&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.officedepot.com%2Fa%2Fproducts%2F361524%2FElle-D-cor-Dani-47-W%2F-47-W%2F" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored">Elle Décor</a>. </p><p>In this case, I'm not talking about the magazine but its <keyword id="30873" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="home-decor">home decor</keyword> line. </p><p>From furniture to dinnerware sets, Elle Décor's pieces modernize Parisian chic and reimagines classic home office items in fun colors and finishes like wood, marble, turquoise, cobalt, and even blush pink. The desk </p><h2>My review of <a href="https://go.skimresources.com?id=35871X943606&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.officedepot.com%2Fa%2Fproducts%2F361524%2FElle-D-cor-Dani-47-W%2F-47-W%2F" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored nofollow sponsored">Elle Décor</a> home office furniture</h2><p>I bought the <a href="https://go.skimresources.com?id=35871X943606&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.officedepot.com%2Fa%2Fproducts%2F361524%2FElle-D-cor-Dani-47-W%2F-47-W%2F" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored">Dani Writing Desk ($199)</a>, which has a more rustic mid-century look to it than the <a href="https://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/6415797/type/dlg/https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/elle-decor-giselle-writing-desk-eldc1224.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored nofollow sponsored">Giselle Writing Desk</a> with its clean white top, which I also liked. The Dani seems to be available for in-store pick up only, so I'd call ahead to your local store first.</p><p>The large surface tabletop ensured enough space for my computer and any notes and magazines I needed to reference while writing, which would make working from home a breeze. I can also get a bit messy when I'm working and the spacious drawers made it easy to quickly hide any clutter.</p><p>Best of all, it didn't break the bank and only cost $199 even though it has solid wood legs and metal accents. Considering how much I work and write from home, this was a great deal.</p><p>No new home office makeover would be complete without a new chair, so I bought the <a href="https://go.skimresources.com/?id=35871X943606&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.officedepot.com%2Fa%2Fproducts%2F6773140%2FElle-D-cor-Taissy-Bonded-Leather%2F&amp;xcust=1587663962180a2g59xutg|xid:fr1587663964864jjb663964864jjb" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored">Elle Décor Taissy Task Chair ($100)</a> because it coordinated perfectly with my new desk. My setup is almost like the one pictured above, though not as well-lit, unfortunately. </p><p>The chair is really comfortable, which is important since I'm sometimes spending upwards of eight hours working at my desk and need the right amount of back and arm support. The arms aren't adjustable but the height of the chair is, which comes in handy. The wheels are also pretty smooth on my floors.</p><p>What I love most is that the chair doesn't sacrifice comfort for style. I've personally never been a fan of industrial-looking office furniture in my home, so I wasn't looking for the usual black chair with mesh backing. The Taissy chair offers enough support for my arms and back, and it helps keep me focused and productive without breaking my back — or bank. </p><p>Living in New York City, half the struggle of furniture buying is taking everything home. I don't have the luxury of SUVs or pickup trucks, so I often rely on delivery, and thankfully, it was shipped and delivered right to my door. However, that meant I had to carry it up a few stairs.</p><p>It was a bit heavy bringing the boxes up by myself, so I suggest enlisting a friend to help. For me, it was worth the trouble because it meant to the desk and chair were really sturdy.</p><p>With both items, there was <em>some</em> assembly required. However, it wasn't the odyssey that I've experienced in the past with IKEA furniture. It took me a little under two hours to put my desk and chair together, and most of the delay was because I had to do it by myself. If you had someone to help you hold pieces together, you'd probably get this together in 45 minutes or less.</p><h2>The bottom line</h2><p>I've been using both items on and off for a few months, but I've spent 8+ hours every day since mid-March, and I'm still impressed with the quality of both Elle Décor pieces. I finally have a grown-up home office that matches my personal style and it didn't cost more than $500.</p><p>The desk is large enough for work, but it doesn't overwhelm my small apartment and the chair is comfortable for long stretches of time. Was he okay with the video? Was this video a sign that Brown's time with the Raiders was close to finished?</p><p>But one question seemed to dominate the conversation more than any other - how did Brown produce such a high-quality video, complete with cinematic shots and an orchestral score?&#xa0;&#xa0;</p><p>As it turns out, it was Alejandro Narciso of SDLN Creative that helped Brown produce the video. But as he told ESPN's "The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz," the production and publishing of the video didn't go all that smoothly.</p><p>"It actually wasn't supposed to be that kind of video at first," Narciso, 25, told Le Batard's show. Narciso said he was used to producing "hype" videos and had approached Brown about putting something together ahead of the Raiders game against the Broncos on "Monday Night Football."</p><p>Brown agreed, and Narciso took footage of Brown as he trained in order to put the video together. After Narciso put together his original cut of the video, Brown told him that the situation had changed a bit. However, he later realized that it would be illegal to use the recording of Gruden without his consent according to California law. Before starting from scratch again, someone suggested sending the video to Gruden and asking for permission.</p><p>"When we were waiting for Gruden's response [I thought] he's going to say, 'Listen AB, I love you man, but that's disrespectful. I can't be having you post our own private conversations," Narciso told Le Batard.</p><p>"Gruden gave permission?!" Le Batard interrupted in shock.</p><p>"And then he responds like 15 minutes later," Narciso continued. "Three texts, he goes 'Wow. I love it. Loved it. I love it.' I was like 'Whaaaat?!' Members of the royal family often learnt calligraphy from the finest experts and offered them high positions in their courts. Wasim Ahmed, a scribe and teacher of Urdu, Persian and Arabic calligraphy, has been practising the art for over 30 years now. He once inscribed books and made hand-drawn posters and they then went to the printers to be replicated and were sold to people who believed the sacred verses would bring them good luck. But Mr Ahmed and others like him have long lost the patronage and the benefits that came with calligraphy after the introduction of Urdu font on computers.<br />

In the Thar desert in the western states of Rajasthan, where women from privileged and upper-caste backgrounds are expected to preserve their dignity by not exhibiting their emotions in front of commoners, the lower-caste rudaalis are called in to mourn for them. They cry out aloud, toss their heads, and wail to the heavens, beating their chests and slapping the ground in front of them. This goes on for 12 days after a death. Over the years, families now prefer sophisticated, quieter funerals with rising literacy rates and migrations. Rudaalis are therefore increasingly losing their relevance.<br />

Amrit Singh's humble office is a street shop outside MS Baroda University. There's no mortar-and-brick structure, no ritzy chairs, no surgical light head. What you find is a few dentures, bottles and a tin box that holds extra dental tools. He makes his patients sit on a bamboo stool boot out any pain from their mouth with his corroded set of pliers. The street dentists in modern India learned their skills mostly from the Hubei community of China, who came looking for work in India in the early 1900s. 	After a death, male members in Indian families travel down to Haridwar to cremate their kins by pouring their ashes in the Ganga. The ceremony conducted by the family "panda" - priests who double up as genealogists. They are also in charge of the family register, of updating the family's genealogical tree with details of marriages, births and deaths. The reason for their existence has to do with the Hindu belief that the family is everlasting and comprehensive and that each Hindu must "look out" for his ancestors and perform ceremonies for their journey heavenwards and immortalise them by recording their names in the genealogical registers known as "vahis". Over the years, digitisation of their records and increasing scientific worldview are eating into the pandas' work but those like Mahendra Kumar continue to work.<br /><br />

Before they bought a box-sized shop, Syed Abdul Gaffar's ancestors sold ittars from a wooden box that hung around their necks, walking the streets. They moved about the lanes of the old city that were lined with the homes of nobles and relatives of the Nawabs. The ittarwallahs would be invited in and the women would buy their scented wares - a vial of "raat ki rani", a flowery scent reminiscent of breathing the warm night air, or jasmine that would lure their husbands to their beds. Mr Gaffar now sells the ittar (perfumes) he makes to the few discerning customers who still have a nose for it. There is an increasing demand for branded synthetic perfumes which are more cost effective. But he refuses to make them, says it’s immoral.<br />

And I never swirl the drink around first, or stick my nose in the glass to get a whiff of the wine's flavours and notes.</p><p>But that's exactly what I'm doing at the <a href="http://www.tesco.com/finest-wine-bar/" target="_blank">Tesco finest* wine bar</a> - a new pop-up bar in Soho, London, where customers can sample 48 of the finest* brand wines sold by the supermarket.</p><p>Prices start at £3 for a glass, while flights of three different wines cost £7 each. Experts are also available to recommend different red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines to patrons.</p><p>The bar itself doesn't sell whole bottles for licensing reasons, but there are three Tesco stores nearby where customers can buy bottles of the wines they liked. As they leave, patrons are given leaflets with information on the wines they've tried, along with a voucher for £3 off a £10 bottle.</p><p>"Customers generally have a repertoire of four or five different wines," Nick Jackman, Head of Tesco finest* told Business Insider. D</span>isplays of wine bottles are stuck onto blackboards with their names written in chalk next to them.</p><p>The decor is modern, furnished with leather sofas and high tables with bar stools, the kind of non-offensive, basic furniture you could buy from a Tesco.</p><h2>The tasting</h2><p>For the tasting, I'm introduced to wine expert Jimmy Smith, who runs the West London Wine School. He's dressed in a bow tie and waistcoat that's decorated with badges, which he calls "postcards" from his travels.</p><p>Before sampling the wine, Smith gives me a quick primer on what gives different types of wines their distinct flavour.</p><p>"Wines have a huge amount of difference," Smith said. "Both natural factors and human factors go into making wine," he said. That includes where it's grown, the climate, the grape variety (t<span>here are nearly 3,000 grape varieties in the world)</span>, and the winemaker's passion.</p><p>I start with a flight of reds: a Rioja Reserva, 2011; Chilean Merlot, 2015; and Argentinian Malbec, 2015, served on a wooden palette with numbers underneath each glass so you can identify which wine you are drinking.</p><p>Along with the wine, a waitress brings a small plate of crackers, Comté and Stilton cheese, grapes, and olives. This "enables the flavours to come out to the top of the glass," he said.</p><p>Then, I stick my nose into the glass and inhale deeply. The Rioja has a woody yet fruity aroma, with hints of berries. Smith said he could smell strawberry, but I got more of a blackberry scent. "Slurp as much as you can," Smith said, as I take my first sip.</p><p>The taste is smooth, rich, and aromatic. The wine warms my throat the more I drink. It's the kind of wine I typically like, and it is the only one I completely finish. Conscious that I'm returning to the office after, though, I think better of downing them all.</p><p>Next, the Chilean Merlot. This one is pleasant enough but slightly more acidic, with more alcohol - sniffing for too long makes my head fuzzy. It also has a thinner texture, a bit like nail polish remover.</p><p>Onto the Malbec, it is a spicy wine that reminds me of Christmas, with hints of cloves and cinnamon. I would drink this in December, but it feels weird having this in August.</p><p>The second and final set of wines I try is the "If you only try three" flight, designed for bargoers in a hurry with a selection of white, rosé, and red wines.</p><p>Though I'm not a fan of white wine, even in the summer, the first wine - a Tingleup Riesling, 2015 - has a light, flowery taste. I surprise myself with this one, thinking I could enjoy a full glass on a hot day.</p><p>Next, I try a Provence Rosé, 2015. It looks like the kind of rosé I prefer, with a pale blush colour that's not too pink, but it's too sweet for me, with a sugary, crisp flavour.</p><p>For the last glass, I sample a Barolo, 2012. This Italian red wine has a smooth, even texture, and full-bodied, robust flavour. While red wines are still my favourite, I am open to trying more white wine as well.</p><p>Jackman said I'm the ideal customer for the wine bar because of my lack of wine knowledge. The bar isn't really designed for wine connoisseurs. It's for people who don't know a lot about the wine they drink, but simply enjoy drinking it.</p><p>While there's been "lots of interest" in making the wine bar permanent, he said the brand will wait until the pop-up closes to see how the public receives it, and may experiment with similar projects in the future.</p><p>If it were a permanent establishment, I would go for a drink. Sure, it's not a fancy bar, but it has quality, cheap wine, and the flights for £7 are a great deal compared to the usual £10/glass you'd find in most London bars.</p><p>Drinking supermarket wine outside of my flat, served in nicer wine glasses than my own, definitely upgrades the experience.</p>

What it's like inside Tesco's new wine bar in London

I've never sunbathed topless or visited a nude beach. I don't even walk around the gym changing room undressed.</p><p>And yet, here I am, sitting completely naked eating vegan food in a cubicle with two strangers somewhere in central London.</p><p>I'm at <a href="http://www.thebunyadi.com/">The Bunyadi</a>, the city's first nude pop-up restaurant that opens to the public today (Saturday, June 11).</p><p>Since <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/londons-naked-restaurant-the-bunyadi-2016-4">the pop-up was announced in April</a>, 46,000 people have applied for tickets, which cost £69 each. But The Bunyadi, open in a secret location for three months, only fits 42 people at a time.</p><p>The idea is that <em>everything</em> is naked - from the decor to the food, made with raw ingredients and cooked naturally. There's no electricity and no phones.</p><p>It's a place to "experience true liberation," Seb Lyall, the restaurant creator and founder of the pop-up company Lollipop, said in a press release.</p><p>Business Insider went to a press lunch at The Bunyadi to see what it's like.</p><h3>The experience</h3><p>When I arrive, the foyer is packed with people in white bathrobes. A man hands me a robe and slippers, and directs me to a small changing room. I undress behind a curtain and put on the gown, stuffing my clothes and bag in a locker.</p><p>At the bar, a smattering of nervous-looking journalists sit in robes knocking back cocktails. While a few people talk to each other, most frown at their phones. Occasionally, a tattoo-covered waiter - naked, except for a pair of beige briefs adorned with fig leaves - rushes in and out of the room.</p><p>One of the few fully dressed people there, Seb Lyall asks for the room's attention and welcomes us to the restaurant. Although nudity is optional, he says, "about 80% of customers do de-robe," before reminding us that we're not allowed anything with us in the room.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/575bf8ccdd089567738b4574-1200/img_9488.jpg" alt="Seb Lyall" data-mce-source="Chloe Pantazi/Business Insider" /><p class="source"><span>Chloe Pantazi/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The Bunyadi is a place to "experience true liberation," Seb Lyall, the restaurant creator and founder of the pop-up company Lollipop, said.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Without time to dash to my locker, I leave my iPhone behind the bar, and join the dining room queue, where I make conversation with a couple behind me.</p><p>A waitress - topless, in the same uniform as her male counterpart - appears from behind a black curtain, and leads the three of us into the restaurant.</p><p>Behind the curtain, the restaurant is illuminated by candles dotted about the floor and walls, and divided into mini-rooms formed by bamboo screens, with a small white curtain hanging in the doorway for privacy.</p><p>Arriving at our cubicle, we sit on stools at a wooden table laid with clay tableware and a candle. Initially, we keep our robes on, and for perhaps 10 minutes - without my phone, I've no way of keeping time - the conversation is somewhat staggered. But soon enough, the small talk gives way to discussions about travel, food, even politics.</p><h3>The food</h3><p>The first course on both menus (the table agrees to try the vegan and non-vegan versions) is a garden salad with pickled apple, salted cucumber, radish, and a "forbidden fruit," along with a cold soup. The appetiser is designed to evoke the Garden of Eden, our waitress explains. I drink the soup, which is like fruit juice, in one go, but I'm not keen on the salad. Though it tastes fresh, I don't enjoy that I can barely see my food.</p><p>Next, the waitress brings asparagus, salted almonds, pickled red onion, and watermelon; the non-vegan option is a cured salmon and seaweed salad with whipped spirulina mayonnaise. While the non-vegan mayo and salmon are slimy, the asparagus and watermelon in the vegan dish are deliciously savoury yet sweet.</p><p>By now, it's stifling hot in the room, thanks to the thick robes and the lack of air conditioning. The three of us agree to take off our robes, and we count down, "3, 2, 1," before untying our gowns.</p><p>As well as a wave of relief from the heat, I feel hyper-aware of my nakedness. I make a conscious effort to sit up straight and hold my shoulders back. (It turns out, eating in front of people naked does wonders to one's posture.) I'm also now grateful for the darkness, which mostly covers me. With this meal, I discover as my spoon breaks, the cutlery's edible (up until now, I've been eating with a cocktail stick). I enjoy the fruity berry flavour in the Steak Tartare, but find the vegan dish bland.</p><p>The first of two desserts, a "sweet and salt seasonal forage," is like eating a messy fruit salad, and I struggle with a slice of blood orange that still has the rind on. However, the second dessert - blackberries, coconut and chia mousse with raw crumble ;- is my favourite. The coconut's wonderfully fresh, and the mushy berries combined with biscuity crumble creates a lovely texture.</p><h3>The verdict</h3><p>At £69 a head (not including wine), The Bunyadi is an expensive dinner - especially if you're going for the food, which feels secondary to the experience of being naked.</p><p>Though the restaurant's back-to-basics theme is a bit pretentious - I don't quite feel like Eve in the Garden of Eden, and the clay cups ruin the taste of good wine - being without my phone and clothes feels rather liberating. While I'd just met the people I shared a nude lunch with, I feel I can express myself more frankly than if I were at a regular restaurant. But I'm not sure if this is because I'm naked or because I don't have my iPhone.</p><p>Either way, it's an interesting social experiment, one that I was initially reluctant to take part in but that now fills me with a sense of achievement, as someone who's often self-conscious about her body. Shifu Yanzi is the Shaolin Temple name. Since 1983, I went to Shaolin Temple, so now I'm the 34th-generation Shaolin kung fu warrior, disciple. In 1998, I came to London. My Shaolin experience is more than 35 years. Today I will break down some kung fu movies. When we talk about, "What do you teach when you say we teach Shaolin?" But because Shaolin is so big, people really hard to recognize what Shaolin style look like. Because Shaolin, you know, they have hundreds of hundreds of different forms. And also weapons. And also the training, 72 styles. If my opinion, so, it's that Shaolin style basically is kung fu and wisdom together. So it's balanced. The mind-body spirit balanced.</p><p><strong>"Enter the Dragon" (1973)</strong></p><p>He come here and try to fly-jump at him, then he straightaway know, he don't need some fancy move. He just lies down on the floor. He give you one throw and give you one kick. It's simple. For martial artists, useful is beautiful. Useless? You know, or fancy? No, I don't think it's beautiful. Kung fu kicks, you know, they have many kicks. We have dēng tuǐ. We have chuài tuǐ, or biān tuǐ. And also we have backspin, high kick. Sweep kicks have front sweep or back sweep. Also flying kicks, flying knees. So all the different types of kicks in <keyword id="6357507" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="martial-arts">martial arts</keyword>. Punch is the same as well. Punch, they have some Chinese-named one, also, they use, like, a boxing one. One is a straight punch. And also you have a hook punch. And also they have a uppercut. In kung fu, they're just called a zhí quán, bǎi quán, gōu quán. Also they have, another different one is like a backspin. So, when you're fighting sometimes you do one, then you backspin, kick, punch. You do that one, you backspin. Also they use here to fight. Here fight. We call it biān quán. It's like a snap. Like I used one rope. Just snap like this. So [demonstrates] this. This punch is very powerful. Now, this called chuài tuǐ, side kick. Chuài tuǐ is very famous Chinese tradition kicks. Also it's Bruce Lee, I think his favorite kick in the film. This side kick has a lot of power. He learned from the Wing Chun. That's really representative of all the Wing Chun styles. And he gave the Chinese name about this, called gōu lòu shǒu. They directly push you, and then they feel you push back, then the hands come back. Then, because you push to me, then I come to fight you. It's like a crash. That's why, in the film, they're doing this one. If you have the backflip as a skill you practiced, then you can. He's trying to tell the people in different situations what kind of technique you use. You can see they grab your leg and only lift up. In that time, you could do backspin and do this kick. I think it is possible. For the easy way, if he grab on my leg and there's one leg there, so, I can punch you in a way where I just quickly push you on the floor and then beat you. In reality, this probably is most useful one. Bruce Lee film, you can see they called many, many millions of people to learn martial arts. [yelling] I watched this film, and in 1983, I went to Shaolin.</p><p><strong>Rating: 10/10</strong></p><p><strong>"The Shaolin Temple" (1982)</strong></p><p>You can see they have a lot of different weapons. Normally we have 18 different styles, different weapons. So, in here, I think at least they have eight or nine or 10. They have a stick, they have a spear, they have a sword, they have a three-section chain, and also they have a two-sections one. This one is like, one is a side long, and in the top, they have this long, with a chain. You know, when you use a stick, even you use a spear, because it's long weapons, you can, it's a quite useful technique. Because if many people try to get close to you, you're holding in the middle. They you use your waist, and you tuck your waist. You're turning, see, then this side become powerful, this side become powerful. They can hit people. The man, they don't want the people all close to him. When you make a big swing or whatever, so people go hiding or go back, so you have space. When you use long weapons, you need to have space. If you don't have space, you cannot fight. That's the one pulling me go to Shaolin Temple.</p><p><strong>Rating: 8/10</strong></p><p><strong>"The Matrix" (1999)</strong></p><p>For me, I think real fighting is not really like this. What happens someone face to you, they want to fight you. So, it's simple, you know. It's a question of you just give him punch or give him kick. You don't make some pose or whatever, so it's.... This is just for film, for show. That pose, you know, Wong Fei Hung, you know, Jet Li films, they made this pose. That pose I recognize straightaway, I see it's a Wong Fei Hung Jet Li pose. And the other one, it's like, it can be the crane or be tai chi styles like that. Yeah, they do have... look like they mixed many styles, even they doing [demonstrates] you know. And this, Shaolin have this, also Baji have this kind of movements as well, because it's really powerful. They also have Bruce Lee styles. But it really don't have Bruce Lee movement. You know, Bruce Lee movement is really easy to recognize. I heard that he doing this form a span of six months, for training, so for six months, to get the acting like this is quite good.
