<ul><li>For most of us, at least in our minds, any representative from the cable and <keyword id="6411255" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="DTH">DTH</keyword> industry is always a <keyword id="10888015" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cablewallah">cablewallah</keyword>.</li><li>Zee has tried to change this perception through its latest campaign that it has released on the occasion of International Women's Day.</li><li><keyword id="529229" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Atul-Das">Atul Das</keyword>, Chief Revenue Officer, <keyword id="141413" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zee-Entertainment-Enterprises">Zee Entertainment Enterprises</keyword> Limited tells us more.</li></ul>On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Zee has come up with a campaign celebrating women employees in the cable and satellite network. Whenever we think of talking to someone from the cable ecosystem, we always think of a ‘cablewallah’. However, in the past few years, many women have entered the field too and Zee, through its campaign, wanted to celebrate the contribution of these women in the industry. <div type="Youtube" id="u3GnQXmadzk" title="Happy Women's Day" thumbUrl="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/u3GnQXmadzk/mqdefault.jpg"></div> As the campaign went live today, we thought it would be interesting to understand the thought behind the campaign. How did you think of coming up with a campaign to celebrate the women in the industry?</cmsannotation> The inspiration for this video campaign came from the fact that traditionally the partner operations has been considered a profession for men. Each time we think of a platform operator, whether cable or DTH, the first image that comes to our mind is that of a man. As we all know, TV subscribers commonly use the word ‘Cablewala’ to refer to distribution partners. With this campaign, we would like to change this perception and emphasize that women partners and women employees in our partner organizations are equally instrumental in delivering entertainment to every viewer household. Women have stood at the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis as health care workers, caregivers, community organisers and effective leaders in combating the pandemic. Even in the TV distribution space, our women partners have displayed strong resolve and immense courage in managing the business despite multitude of challenges. We have several examples of women in leadership roles. International Women's Day: When ZEE paid an ode to the almost-never acknowledged women in the cable and DTH ecosystem

<ul><li><keyword id="15508" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="YouGov">YouGov</keyword>’s survey reveals TV subscribers are indeed moving online for content after the <keyword id="7319532" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="trai-order">TRAI order</keyword> was passed. </li><li>Not only have people increased their digital content viewing time in the past year, some have unsubscribed their DTH connections and moved completely online for content. </li></ul>As the New Tariff Order 2.0 proposed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is likely to come into effect starting March 1, 2020, YouGov ran a survey to understand the impact of the original order on the content consumption habits of Indian consumers. As per the earlier order, users were to choose channels they liked and pay standardised rates for only those. Although this move was meant to enhance the customer’s television viewing experience, people did not seem too happy with its execution. According to the research done by YouGov in 2019, when the order was first passed, half of the 1020 surveyed respondents (49%) indicated their likeliness to spend more time online watching original content as a result of this amendment. One year later, the 2020 research findings show that this is exactly what has happened and people seem to have migrated online for content. Around half of Indian DTH subscribers (48%) said the amount of time they spend watching original online content (on <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword>, Amazon Prime, <keyword id="2739840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hotstar">Hotstar</keyword>, etc.) has increased after the implementation of the TRAI tariff order last year. Almost as many (42%) said the same for time spent watching television content digitally. On the contrary, the TRAI guidelines seem to have adversely impacted the business of television and 43% said their TV-viewing time has decreased in the last year. Furthermore, one in six (16%) claimed to have unsubscribed from a DTH connection or network because of the TRAI rule, and one in five (21%) have unsubscribed and moved entirely online for content. <div type="image" title="image003 (9)" msid="74376177" hostid="261"></div>

 Men were more likely than women to disconnect their cable connection (19% vs 13%) while the youngest generation- GenZ, were more likely than the rest to not just unsubscribe but migrate online as well (26%). The New Tariff Order 2.0 is likely to make subscriptions affordable by offering consumers 200 channels with the base slab of INR 130 as opposed to 100 channels offered earlier. The data shows that the majority of respondents (60%) favour the revised order, 14% disapprove of it and 26% have no view in this regard. Support could be due to the fact that people positively perceive this change and more than half (56%) feel it will empower them to choose the channels they like. Although people largely support it, many (36%) feel the new amendment will confuse consumers by giving them too many options to choose from. Following the introduction of the TRAI regulatory framework last year, 40% TV-viewers selected channels individually and paid for each, 37% bought a bundle pack and 23% opted for free-to-air channels with few additions. The ones who bought a bundle pack were more likely to say they paid more than they used to earlier as compared to the ones who selected channels individually or kept all free channels- who instead were more likely to say they paid lesser than before (29% and 30%, respectively). If the new TRAI rule comes into force, most people (38%) are still likely to individually select channels. The proportion of people wanting to buy a bundle pack as well as keep free channels is similar, at 31% each, suggesting that people are equally receptive to each of the offerings. Commenting on this, Deepa Bhatia, General Manager, YouGov India said, “YouGov’s survey last year rightly predicted the likely impact of the new regulation on consumer viewership. The latest findings validate this prediction. The new order is likely to disrupt the business further and hence it is even more important for advertisers to study the changing consumer needs and behaviour and reallocate their media budgets accordingly.” Data collected online by YouGov Omnibus among around 1000 respondents in India between February 17th -24th, 2020 using YouGov’s panel of over 8 million people worldwide. Data is representative of the adult online population in the country.

<ul><li>The Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) has opened computer classes for teachers and students in the naxal areas of Chhattisgarh, Injiram and Sukma. </li><li>It launched the first mobile phone tower in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. </li><li>CRPF has over <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2019/jul/21/in-a-first-crpf-to-install-sanitary-pad-dispensers-for-women-in-combat-2007290.html">300,000 personnel</a>, including several employed in conflicted or naxal areas.</li></ul>The <keyword id="76600" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Reserve-Police-Force">Central Reserve Police Force</keyword> (CRPF) is organising computer classes for school teachers and students naxal affected areas. They want to bring these remote areas into the digital era and have already initiated such activities in Chhattisgarh, Injiram and Sukma. In July, it had also launched the first mobile phone tower in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. It also enabled internet facilities, and provided computers to students--a move which was well appreciated by its residents. “Padhega Bastar, tabhi toh badhega Bastar (Education in Bastar will lead to development),” Moses Dhinakaran, Directorate General of CRPF tweeted. The Bastar district in Chhattisgarh is prone to Maoist activities.

 The paramilitary forces have been stepping up efforts to establish digital services in remote naxal areas. It recently provided smart TVs and DTH connections to a girls hostel in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The CRPF has deployed over <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2019/jul/21/in-a-first-crpf-to-install-sanitary-pad-dispensers-for-women-in-combat-2007290.html">300,000 personnel</a>, including several employed in conflicted or naxal areas of the country such as Bastar and Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s paramilitary forces organise digital classes in naxal affected areas

"Education which does not help common mass of people to equip themselves is it worth of name?.." Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> quoted Swami Vivekanandav in the Parliament, before making some of the biggest Budget announcements India has received in education sector so far. 
 
While highlighting Modi government's "Transform, Energize and Clean India" mission for Budget 2017-18, the Finance Minister said,"Quality education will energize our youth." 
 
He proposed the introduction of a system of measuring annual learning. Emphasis, he said, will be given to science education in schools. 
 
To free CBSE and other agencies of administrative responsibilities, he announced a National Testing agency to conduct all examinations in higher education. 
 
Additionally, in a major push to Make In India, Jaitley announced 100 international skill centres across India to help youth who are seeking jobs overseas. 
 
3479 educationally backward blocks will be given focus. A Swayam platform will be launched with atleast 350 online courses and it will be made available through DTH.

 The Finance Minister said,"Providing quality education is very crucial to the children who are on their way to create India’s core working population in the next 10 years. This development in their formative years can help the country in the years to come. <keyword id="6599769" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2017">Budget 2017</keyword> is an opportunity for the government to concentrate on the improvement of school education for children who are enrolled in primary and secondary schools. The Centre’s commitment to education has always been high on intent but low in practice." 
 
The Budget 2016-17 allocated Rs 1,51,581 crore for social sector including education and health care. The then budget included 62 new Navodaya Vidyalayas to be opened, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to increasing focus on quality of education, regulatory architecture to be provided to ten public and ten private institutions to emerge as world-class Teaching and Research Institutions, set up of higher education financing agency with initial capital base of 1000 Crores and the digital depository for school leaving certificates, college degrees, academic awards &amp; mark sheets to be set-up.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley makes biggest announcements for Education Sector in India

<ul><li><keyword id="6357886" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="phonepe" source="Orion">PhonePe</keyword> is looking forward to expanding its workforce by hiring 2800 people by the end of this year.</li><li>The company will be hiring across various domains like engineering, product, analytics, business development, and sales.</li><li>Other than that, PhonePe is also actively investing in PhonePe university, which is a holistic programme in tech that aims to accelerate learning and impact for engineers.</li></ul>PhonePe, a Bengaluru-based <keyword id="4002923" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-payment-platform" source="Orion">digital payment platform</keyword>, has announced that it will double its total employee strength by December 2022. The company will be hiring 2800 people and will be scaling up its headcount from 2600 to 5400 employees. The company plans to fill in 2800 positions in various levels and functions like engineering, product, analytics, business development, and sales teams located in Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, and the rest of the country. “We are building a long-term sustainable organisation, anchored on technology, and unlocking value for all. We’re proud that PhonePe has emerged as the employer of choice for smart, ambitious people who are keen on creating outsized impact. The company offers the opportunity for people to learn and grow by getting to work on some of the most complex problems in the industry,” says Manmeet Sandhu, head of human resources at PhonePe. Other than that, PhonePe is also actively investing in PhonePe university, which is a holistic programme in tech that aims to accelerate learning and impact for engineers, while also enabling expansion of the ready-now engineering talent in the startup space. “PhonePe’s progressive efforts to create a diverse, vibrant, and positive workplace were formalised last year with the launch of its Diversity and Inclusion Initiative. Since then, the company has seen an increased representation of women in leadership roles, as well as more hires from the LGBTQI community and persons with disability,” Sandhu added further. The company also claims that it offers above-market compensation, has below-market attrition rates, and offers wealth creation opportunities to all employees through its employee stock ownership plan (ESOPs) programme. The digital payments company recently launched a ‘Mother@PhonePe’ programme especially for mothers to give them the flexibility to come back to the workforce whenever they are ready. The company also launched another programme called ‘Parents@PhonePe’ which covers secondary caregivers, thus promoting a more balanced distribution of responsibilities among new parents. PhonePe was founded in December 2015 and it claims to have digitised over 27 million offline merchants spread across tier 2,3,4 and beyond and claims to have covered 99% of pin codes in the country. Using PhonePe, users can also send and receive money, recharge mobile, DTH, pay at stores, and make all their utility payments.
