As Wipro gears itself up under new leadership, it has joined hands with the computing behemoth Intel in hopes of inking for more deals in the coming quarters. Wipro’s new CEO Theirry Delaporte expressed that the company will be focusing on ‘profitable growth’ in the coming months and Intel seems to be a part of that plan. Aside from cloud solutions, one of the major asks from clients is to enable their employees to work from home — especially from those who didn’t invest enough in their digital transformation over the last few years. They have been bearing the brunt of the coronavirus crisis over the last few weeks, according to Delaporte. “Therefore if we need to make investments, we will make those investments and that will always be our first priority,” explained Wipro CFO Jatin Dalal. Pushing on remote work solutions Intel will enable Wipro’s LIVE Workspace which will be the company’s digital workspace solution within the Intel vPro platform. It’s basically a digital hub that lets a company manage its devices remotely whether it's at home, in the workplace or somewhere remote. It also promises security against firmware-level attacks. Cybersecurity has been a central concern for many companies as the number of malware attacks during the lockdown have been on the rise. Global IT giant Cognizant was subject to a ransomware attack and another US-based law company saw its clients’ personal data get stolen off its servers.

Wipro teams up with Intel to cash in on the increasing demand for work from home

In a bid to win the intense war for large deals, India's top outsourcing firms like <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> and <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> are more and more willing to make large upfront payments, as they bid for large deals with assured revenues. 
 
These large sums are being offered despite India's $160-billion IT industry facing its slowest revenue growth in ten years. 
 
Executives familiar with these plans told ET that in the past, Indian outsourcing firms have steered away from large deals, which cross over $500 million. However, the trend seems to be changing. 
 "There are different kinds of deal structurings that happen -- if there is an asset that gets transferred by the customer, then we may make an upfront payment for that. It's not just quantity of revenue, but it's about quality of revenues," Wipro CEO <keyword id="3129799" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abidali-Neemuchwala">Abidali Neemuchwala</keyword> had said earlier. 
 Similarly, Infosys CEO <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword> said that even as Infosys does not make such investments with every large deal, there are some deals that require such payments, and they can be rightly considered. "Only when it comes to the quality of the work we're getting, and the nature of the work we're getting," said Sikka. 
 
Globally, however, this is not a new phenomenon, with companies like IBM, HP and Accenture following this trend for years now. With time, Indian software exporters like Wipro and HCL Tech too jumped on to this practice. 
 
For these Indian firms, this aggression has finally paid off, with Infosys winning at least 10 large deals with total contract value of over $50 million in the past few quarters, which is more than any other top-tier rival.

That’s better than the 1.9% growth clocked in the December quarter. Since companies like Wipro, TCS, and Infosys export software, and earn in dollars, pounds or euros, they report growth in constant currency terms, which is adjusted for foreign exchange fluctuations. Wipro ADRs (American Depository Receipts) were down by 1.5% as of 5:30 p.m., today (January 12). In its exchange filing, <keyword id="597306" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="wipro-ceo" source="Orion">Wipro CEO</keyword> and Managing Director Thierry Delaporte said that the company added seven new customers, each bringing in revenues of over $100 million, in the past 12 months, the highest yet. “We are also excited to have completed the acquisitions of Edgile and LeanSwift Solutions in the quarter, both of which will add to our capabilities significantly,” Delaporte added. <table style="border-width: initial; Wipro CEO says dollar revenue will grow 2-4% in the next three months

New Delhi, Feb 6 () IT company Wipro on Thursday said automotive technology supplier Marelli has awarded it a multi-year strategic deal. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. This partnership will help Marelli to standardize, simplify and further enhance their IT services at a global level and consolidate several current vendors across applications management services and workplace end user services, Wipro said in a statement. The acquisition is likely only to be finalised in the three months ending on June 30 and will be a boost to Wipro’s first quarter earnings of the financial year 2021-22. “Wipro’s new operating model emphasises strategic investments in focus geographies, proximity to customers, agility, scale and localisation. Wipro's share price jumps by over 1% after $117 million acquisition of Australian cybersecurity firm Ampion

New Delhi, Jan 14 () IT services major Wipro on Tuesday posted 2.17 per cent dip in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,455.9 crore for December 2019 quarter.
The net profit, attributable to shareholders, in the year-ago period was at Rs 2,510.4 crore, Wipro said in a regulatory filing.
Its revenue from operations grew 2.7 per cent to Rs 15,470.5 crore during the period under review from Rs 15,059.5 crore in the same quarter last year (as per Ind-AS).
Wipro, which gets bulk of its topline from IT services, said it expects revenues from that business to be in the range of USD 2,095 million to USD 2,137 million in the March quarter - a sequential growth of flat to 2 per cent.
IT services segment revenue was at USD 2,094.8 million in December quarter, a sequential growth of 2.2 per cent. This is in line with its outlook of USD 2,065 million to USD 2,106 million guided earlier.
"We have delivered a good quarter with secular growth across all business units, geographies and practices. We remain focused on deepening our customer relationships, converting our funnel and winning large deals," Wipro CEO and Managing Director Abidali Z Neemuchwala said.
Wipro declared an interim dividend of Re 1 (USD 0.014) per equity share/ADS. SR MBI BAL
