<ul><li><keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> added more than 12,000 employees in April-June quarter as it expects attrition rate to go up further.</li><li>The IT giant’s total headcount has risen to 209,890</li><li>Wipro reported 12.2% revenue growth in June quarter, out of which 4.9% was organic growth and the rest came through Capco.</li></ul>The war for talent seems to be a rising concern for all information technology (IT) companies in India. While Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys have started gearing up on the expectations of a rise in attrition, Wipro has added about 12,000 employees in the June quarter alone. It is the highest ever in a decade. The company’s IT services workforce crossed the milestone of 200,000 taking the overall headcount to 209,890. Wipro has added more than 12,000 employees, which is 80% of what it had added in FY21 and highest in the last decade, said Thierry Delaporte, chief executive (CEO) and managing director (MD) of Wipro. Like its peers, Wipro is also expecting the attrition rate to go up and hence it has been hiring aggressively. In fact, it will roll out 30,000 offers for freshers to join in FY22. “Attrition, as I had called out last quarter itself, will see an uptick, which is very much in line with the demand environment in the industry,” said Saurabh Govil, president and chief human resources officer at Wipro. <div type="image" title="Wipro attrition" height="900" width="1200" msid="84445950" hostid="261"></div> He mentioned that 80% of the organisation will go through three promotion cycles in 12 months- December 2020, June 2021 and again in December 2021. Besides, the company has been conducting several employee training activities and distributing bonuses to retain its employees. “We had called out last quarter that we will do a skill based bonuses [sic]… Apart from that, to augment the supply chain, we are doing unprecedented hiring in terms of freshers into the organisation. We will be onboarding 6,000 freshers in September quarter, which is the highest every Wipro has done. And we will be rolling out more than 30,000 offers this year for freshers to join us next year,” added Govil. Wipro delivered exceptional results in the June quarter with its acquisition of Capco finally making it onto the books. The company reported 12.2% sequential growth in revenue, out of which 4.9% came organically, while the rest came from Capco, said Jatin Dalal, chief financial officer at Wipro at a press conference held after the announcement of June quarter financial results. Wipro had announced its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/wipro-share-price-has-outperformed-its-peers-in-the-last-one-year-but-analysts-are-still-cautious-about-giving-it-a-buy-rating/articleshow/81345564.cms">acquisition of Capco</a> on April 29, this year, for a whopping $1.45 billion — the largest acquisition by the company that is expected to boost the consulting segment of the financial services vertical. Analysts had <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/heres-why-wipro-may-show-better-earnings-growth-than-tcs-infosys-and-hcl-tech/articleshow/84201419.cms">expected </a>the company to post a revenue growth of about 9.5% because of Capco acquisition. Wipro's hiring at highest in a decade to hedge against employees leaving

<ul><li><keyword id="109615" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro-Ltd">Wipro Ltd</keyword> , an Indian information technology company, confirms that its computer systems were breached by a <keyword id="6380860" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="phishing-attack">phishing attack</keyword> — and so were the systems of 11 other companies.</li><li>The company has since quarantined the compromised systems and launched an independent forensics survey. </li><li>Wipro Ltd denies having known about the breach from months claiming that system alerts only go back one week.</li></ul> India is one of the most targeted countries when it comes to <keyword id="6359049" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="phishing">phishing</keyword> attacks and Wipro Ltd, a Indian information technology company, was its latest victim. According to a <a href="https://krebsonsecurity.com/2019/04/experts-breach-at-it-outsourcing-giant-wipro/">report</a> by KrebsOnSecurity, a phishing attacks on Wipro Ltd’s computer systems used employee accounts to again access to customer information. And, at least 11 other companies were attacked as well according to evidence found in file folders on the back-end infrastructure of the intrusion. But, the exact objective of the attacks is still unclear. The company <a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/wipro-confirms-data-breach-ahead-of-its-q4-results-today-1555397106230.html">confirmed</a> the report, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/wipro-hit-by-advanced-phishing-attack/articleshow/68915021.cms">released</a> a security patch and has hired its own independent forensics firms to help with the investigation. But, Wipro Ltd has refrained from sharing any details about how many customers’ data and employees’ accounts were left vulnerable.

 Wipro Ltd system were apparently being used as ‘jumping-off’ points for digital fishing expeditions gaining access to Wipro Ltd systems. The employees of those systems have since been quarantined and Wipro Ltd claims that the malware attack should not have any ‘material impact’ on its financials. To know or not to know? While it has been established that Wipro Ltd did not know about the breach some time in advance, the ongoing debate is whether they knew about it a week or months in advance. KrebsOnSecurity asserts that the phishing attack was a multi-month process from a state-sponsored attackers. Wirpo’s COO Bhanumurthy BM, on the other hand, claims that the alerts were only detected a week ago.

They’re essentially shares that belonged to individuals who have since migrated to Pakistan or China and are no longer Indian citizens. KrebsOnSecurity speculates that the development along with the $75 million settlement to National Grid US after a botched systems applications and products in data processing (SAP) upgrade and cancelling of its Medicaid enrollment system contract with the US state of Nebraska, may have had something to do with the phishing attack. Wipro confirms phishing attack on its system — 11 other companies unknown

IT company <keyword id="10862" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="wipro" source="Orion">Wipro</keyword> will acquire a 100% stake in <keyword id="13715828" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="rizing" source="Orion">Rizing</keyword> Intermediate Holdings for about $540 million (around Rs 4,135 crore) in an all-cash deal to scale up its systems, applications &amp; products (<keyword id="6358384" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sap" source="Orion">SAP</keyword>) consulting capabilities, the company said on Tuesday. US-based Rizing is the latest in a series of acquisitions by Wipro, underscoring the company's ambitious growth agenda. "Rizing's high-touch approach, along with its industry expertise and <keyword id="13715830" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sap-consulting-capabilities" source="Orion">SAP consulting capabilities</keyword> in enterprise asset management, consumer industries, and human experience management, will be instrumental in advancing Wipro's position as a sought-after advisor for clients' most complex SAP transformations," Wipro said in a statement. The deal will require anti-trust approvals under the competition laws of the US, Germany, and Canada. The transaction is expected to be completed before the quarter ending June 30, 2022. "Rizing's complimentary consulting capabilities and strong client relationships will significantly boost our existing offering, creating one of the most differentiated SAP services in the marketplace. "Together, we will be able to expand our presence in high-growth industry sectors," Wipro Limited, chief executive officer and managing director <keyword id="3808309" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="thierry-delaporte" source="Orion">Thierry Delaporte</keyword> said in a statement. Upon completion of the acquisition, Rizing will operate as 'Rizing, a Wipro company', under the leadership of <keyword id="13715831" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mike-Maiolo" source="Orion">Mike Maiolo</keyword>. "With Wipro's backing, we will be able to enhance the value we deliver to our current clients and bring our differentiated offering to a broader universe of businesses. Combining the two firms will allow us to scale our services and expand our footprint in the market," Rizing chief executive officer (CEO) Mike Maolo said. Rizing is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, and has more than 1,300 employees in 16 countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
