More control for group admins WhatsApp is planning to give group admins more control with this new feature. Group admins will soon be able to delete any message sent in the group chat. If any message is deleted by the group admin, then the same will be visible by other members of the group. Truecaller’s announcement comes shortly after the company said it has reached 300 million monthly active users globally, and out of which 220 million users are from India alone. The caller ID app launched back in 2009 and it has since evolved from telling people who’s calling to easily blocking spam calls, finding contact details and more. Truecaller has launched video caller ID, ghost calls, and it has made call recording widely available on its Android app. The new features are available only for Android users. There is a Truecaller app on iOS but the features are limited due to Apple’s restrictions. Now let’s take a look at all the latest Truecaller features on Android. Video caller ID Truecaller now lets you create a video caller ID that will appear when you make calls to your contacts who are also on the app. You can record a short selfie video from your phone or you can choose from one of Truecaller templates which are basically generic videos. The video caller ID will only show on contacts who are also on Truecaller. Call recording Truecaller introduced call recording back in 2018 but it was exclusive only to paid users. It also regularly tests features and some of which can be tried out by WhatsApp beta users. Any new update or feature on WhatsApp always creates a buzz and the app is expected to continue to be in the limelight even in 2022, at least in terms of new features. So as the new year starts, here’s a look at some of the highly expected features from WhatsApp in 2022. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Message reactions" comment="subhead" text="Message reactions">Message reactions</cmsannotation> Message reactions would be a major update for WhatsApp even though the feature is already available on social media apps. WhatsApp has been found testing the ability to react to messages in chats. This feature will let you react with emojis and at present, there are six emoji reactions confirmed. You will also be able to see who reacted which emoji to your message. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Communities" comment="subhead" text="Communities">Communities</cmsannotation> Communities on WhatsApp is another big feature expected to launch soon. This feature will essentially let users club various WhatsApp groups together in one community. Based on reports by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will let you link up to 10 groups together in one community. There will be an announcement section that will be accessible only to admins through which a message can be sent and all groups in the community will get it. You can finally transfer your chat history from your iPhone to Android devices. While this is great there’s still no tool to transfer WhatsApp chats from your Android phone to an iPhone. But WhatsApp is working on this feature and it’s expected to roll out soon. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Sticker store" comment="subhead" text="Sticker store">Sticker store</cmsannotation> Stickers are big on WhatsApp but this feature hasn’t been easily accessible on the desktop and web apps. But WhatsApp has added the sticker store on its desktop app’s beta version. Previously, you couldn’t access the sticker store which has the original WhatsApp sticker packs. It’s available on the beta app for now but WhatsApp is expected to make it widely available soon. WhatsApp had also launched its own sticker maker tool for the desktop and web apps. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="More control for admins" comment="subhead" text="More control for admins">More control for admins</cmsannotation> WhatsApp gives group chat admins good control and it’s planning to expand that. Group chat admins on WhatsApp will soon be able to delete any message sent by participants. If a message has been deleted by the group admin then everyone in the group will be notified of the same. This will be different from disappearing messages as group admins will be able to use it anytime they want. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Businesses Nearby" comment="subhead" text="Businesses Nearby">Businesses Nearby</cmsannotation> WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it easier for users to search for businesses on the app. There will be a new section called “businesses nearby” in the search tool and you will get to see filters like restaurants, grocery stores, apparel and clothing, and more. <ul><li>Delete Messages feature will work as a cleaning tool for group chats.</li><li>Only group admins will be able to enable and disable this feature.</li><li>The Delete Messages feature is currently being tested in the beta version.</li></ul> While <keyword id="790242" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="WhatsApp">WhatsApp</keyword>’s new update never brought out the self-destructing messages to the platform, a new Delete Messages feature was spotted. Now, it has been revealed that this feature is now being developed as a ‘cleaning tool’ for group chats. The feature was first <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-to-soon-get-dark-mode-self-destructing-messages-multiple-device-support-and-more/articleshow/72335059.cms">spotted</a> earlier this month in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.275 version. Now, as per a WaBetaInfo <a href="https://wabetainfo.com/discovered-the-purpose-of-the-delete-disappearing-messages-feature/">report</a>, the feature will actually be used as a cleaning tool for group chats. The feature will only be available to the group admins who will be able to enable or disable it for a group. How does this work Groups usually have several participants and the number of messages per day are very high. Over a period of time, these messages accumulate and take up a lot of storage on your device. With the new delete messages feature, group admins will be able to decide how long a message should last. After this period, the message will automatically be deleted for all participants. In the WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.20.10.23/24, the delete messages feature has a time duration ranging from one hour to one year. We expect the time duration to remain the same in the stable version as well. How to save a message While it’s not clear if WhatsApp will introduce a new feature to protect specific messages from getting deleted, you can use the ‘Star Message’ feature to save messages at present. These messages are grouped in the ‘Starred Messages’ section. Currently, the ‘Delete Messages’ feature is limited to the beta version of WhatsApp. We expect the feature to be available for Android and iOS users in the coming weeks.
