It's an incredibly fun and immersive game ride that you'll immediately want to go on again once you get the hang of how it works.</p><p>It's also quite a workout on your arms, if you're trying to land a high score.</p><p>I was able to try out Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure four times in a two-hour span during a preview visit to <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/avengers-campus">Avengers Campus</a> with a small group of press. It was the first time I stepped on a theme-park attraction in over a year. After my initial ride, I jumped right back on the attraction without going through the queue. That's how much I enjoyed it.</p><p>Why?</p><p>The ride gives you the ability to shoot webs just like Spider-Man simply by aiming and extending your arm forward with a flick in any direction. You don't have to wear any type of equipment. For about three minutes, it feels as if you're Spider-Man while you're firing away at interactive environments on digital screens.</p><p>Keep reading for my full breakdown of what to expect on the ride as well as tips on where to sit and how to get a higher score. Also, Easter eggs and hints at the future of the MCU you should keep an eye out for while waiting in the extremely detailed queue, and how to land a reservation to ride the new attraction.</p><h2><strong>What the ride's about: You're aiding Spider-Man as you try to save <keyword id="11075786" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="avengers-campus">Avengers Campus</keyword> from a bunch of tiny spider-bots</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="webslingers avengers campus" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234859" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>When you enter Web Slingers, you'll make your way through an outdoor queue. Once inside, you'll enter the lobby of the WEB, or Worldwide Engineering Brigade.</p><p>WEB is a workshop area Tony Stark built to bring together bright young minds from across the MCU, including Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Cassie Lang (Ant-Man's daughter), Harley Keener (the young inventor Tony meets in "Iron Man 3"), and some new faces who will enter the MCU soon, including America Chavez/Miss America and Riri Williams/Ironheart (more on them in a bit). There, the engineers work on developing new technologies.</p><div type="image" title="web slinger web entry" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234862" hostid="261"></div><p>After a short waiting period, you're ushered into one of two rooms on the left or right. Once everyone is inside, you're welcomed by none other than Parker (a delightful <keyword id="470824" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tom-Holland">Tom Holland</keyword> reprises his role for the attraction). He's supposed to take us on an open-house tour of WEB to show off some of the tech they're working on, including a pretty cute spider-bot, which has the ability to self-replicate.</p><p><strong>Here's the preshow:</strong></p><p>Naturally, things go awry. A spider-bot escapes, starts self-replicating, and destroys Parker's lab. When the bots get loose into Avengers Campus, it's our job to help Parker and his friends round up the bots before Stark can find out you're destroying his expensive land.</p><p>From there, you make your way into a third, larger room where you snake around a queue until you reach the boarding area to get in your very own Web Slinger vehicle, another invention of the WEB kids, which allows you to shoot webs like Spidey to stop the bots, break boxes, and more.</p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slingers hallway queue" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234864" hostid="261"></div><h2><strong>The ride queue: Keep an eye out for Easter eggs, a tribute to a former Disney Imagineer, and hints at the MCU's future</strong></h2><p>Starting outside the WEB building, there are nods to Spidey, the MCU, and more inside and out of the attraction to keep your eyes peeled for. An art mural outside WEB is created by another Spider-Man, <a href="https://www.insider.com/disneyland-avengers-campus-photos#also-make-sure-you-take-a-moment-to-appreciate-the-fine-spidey-themed-artwork-on-the-wall-youll-want-to-check-the-artists-name-14">Miles Morales</a>. Not far from him is a parking spot for Howard Stark and his butler, Jarvis.</p><div type="image" title="jarvis stark parking spot avengers campus web slingers" height="600" width="1200" msid="83234866" hostid="261"></div><p>Inside the preshow room, you can spot "Star Wars" references and the <a href="https://i.insider.com/60b9d99f93c6fa00195e515b">Lego Death Star Ned and Peter were working on</a> in the Spidey films. Depending on which preshow room you enter you'll spot either Groot in a crane machine alongside Baymax and a "Toy Story" alien (The Claw!) or Captain Marvel.</p><div type="image" title="crane machine web slingers avengers campus " height="1800" width="1200" msid="83234867" hostid="261"></div><p>There are also two whiteboards filled with equations and inside jokes. There's no way you can see and read everything in one visit.</p><div type="image" title="web slingers white boards avengers campus" height="1800" width="1200" msid="83234868" hostid="261"></div><p>If you wind up entering the left preshow room instead of the right, you'll miss some important hints at the future of the MCU. When you exit the room on the right, a wall of lockers shows off 17 names in addition to Peter Parker.</p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slingers lockers" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234869" hostid="261"></div><p>A Disney employee pointed out one locker in the center of the top row. It honors <a href="https://crowdfund.cpp.edu/project/14993">Grisol Ramirez</a>, a young Disney Imagineer who had worked on the attraction but died in 2019.</p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slingers imagineer locker" height="4032" width="3024" msid="83234871" hostid="261"></div><p>The other 16 names belong to current or future MCU characters or characters who, currently, exist only in Marvel comics, animated series, or other forms of <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword>.</p><p><strong>Here's the full list:</strong> Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl, Amadeus Cho/Brawn, <a href="https://www.insider.com/avengers-endgame-harley-ty-simpkins-2019-4">Harley Keener</a> ("Iron Man 3"), Onome, Cassie Lang ("Ant-Man"), Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Dante Pertuz/Inferno, Shaun L., Bruno Carrelli (super-smart friend of Ms. Marvel), Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl, Lunella Lafayette/Moon Girl, America Chavez/Miss America, Riri Williams/Ironheart, Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Takeshi Matsuya/Wiz Kid, and Rick Jones (friend of the Hulk, who becomes A-Bomb and then Subject B).</p><p>Before you shrug this off and say it's just for the attraction, I was told last March during an Avengers Campus preview the land would <a href="https://www.insider.com/disney-avengers-campus-marvel-land-photos-2020-3#the-reverse-will-also-be-possible-we-may-see-avengers-campus-influence-what-you-see-in-the-future-of-the-marvel-cinematic-universe-in-films-or-shows-12">continue to evolve and grow in conjunction with the Marvel Cinematic Universe</a>. Things in the films and shows could influence the land, and the reverse could also be true. Things from the land could appear in the MCU.</p><p>With that in mind, there are two main takeaways. Marvel is most likely setting up a "Young Avengers" group (something I've <a href="https://www.insider.com/future-marvel-movies-shows-after-avengers-endgame-2019-4#one-final-thought-are-we-building-towards-a-young-avengers-group-10">considered at length for years</a> based on Marvel's Disney Plus lineup <a href="https://www.insider.com/avengers-campus-teases-young-avengers-cassie-lang-peter-parker-2020-3">along with Avengers Campus teases last year</a>). The other is that Marvel and Sony may be planning a live-action Spider-Verse movie with Peter Parker meeting other Spider-Men - something that's been discussed online a lot for December's coming Spidey sequel.</p><h2><strong>Know before you go: There are no height restrictions. The ride vehicle seats four guests per row and eight per car. Practice your web-slinging as you wait in line.</strong></h2><div type="image" title="web slinger boarding area" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234873" hostid="261"></div><p>Web Slingers was made with all ages in mind. There's no height requirement, so even the youngest Marvel fans can ride the attraction.</p><p>If you're looking for the best seat on the attraction, there really isn't a bad one from what I could tell. I preferred either of the two center seats because they put you right at the center of the web-slinging action to have easier access to try to hit anything on the screen.</p><p>I recommend using your time in line to familiarize yourself with how to sling a web. Granted, it's not difficult, but if you're competitive, there are a few advanced moves to master to get the most out of the ride. Signs inside the attraction show advanced techniques that include gesturing down to "pull webbed objects in different directions." Another tip notes that webs can push buttons and pull levers.</p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slinger instructions" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234876" hostid="261"></div><h2><strong>The ride allows you to shoot webs like Spider-Man. How does it work? Disney Imagineers invented a gesture-recognition system. </strong></h2><p>Infrared cameras are attached to each vehicle to track and analyze guests 60 times a second to track a guest's eye position, shoulders, elbows, and wrists so when anyone moves their arms the attraction can map out the geometry of their web sling, creating a 3D web that appears on the screen as you play.</p><p>All you have to do is extend and launch out your arm and a colored web flies out. The result is seamless and may leave you stunned the first few seconds of the attraction trying to figure out how Disney pulled this off.</p><h2><strong>The actual ride: It's 3 minutes of nonstop exhilarating fun</strong></h2><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slinger vehicle" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234880" hostid="261"></div><p>Once you're in a Web Slinger vehicle, you're assigned one of four colors depending on where you're seated: blue, red, yellow, or purple. The color you're assigned will be the color of the web that "shoots out" from your wrist during gameplay.</p><p>Similar to Toy Story Midway Mania, the attraction takes you to four different "rooms" (aka giant screens) where you're given a certain amount of time to try to capture as many spider-bots as possible. The more you capture, the higher your score.</p><p>You start off in a hanger before moving to the Pym Test Kitchen (a restaurant located in Avengers Campus). Afterward, you head to the Collector's fortress to denote the "Guardians of the Galaxy" ride. Finally, you face off against a giant spider-bot near Avengers headquarters, located in the center of Avengers Campus. The attraction goes by incredibly fast, so it's easy to miss something that flies by as the screen pans forward or down to move you through an environment.</p><p>In three of the rooms, you have an objective to try to complete: Fight giant bot, rescue Spider-Man, and destroy giant bot. You're awarded points for each task.</p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slinger score" height="1800" width="1200" msid="83234883" hostid="261"></div><p>I'm competitive, so I wanted to try to get the highest score possible. Unfortunately, for me, that also meant I was shooting both of my arms outward at a rapid-fire pace to sling as many webs as possible each round. Though I had scores of over 325,000 by myself the first two times riding, this was not a great strategy. </p><p>By the time I got to the fourth room every time, my arms were exhausted (and a bit sore the next day). It was a repeated comment I heard throughout the day from Disney employees and other media members who tried the attraction. It's not a bad thing, but I wasn't expecting a workout from a Disney ride.</p><h2><strong>Tips on getting a higher score: Aim at gold spiders, access a magical book, and make a game plan if you're riding with others</strong></h2><p>Want to impress your friends by getting a higher score than them on your first go-round? Don't waste your time hitting any old bot. Aim for the gold spiders. Each one gives you 6,000 points.</p><div type="image" title="gold spider bots avengers campus" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234885" hostid="261"></div><p>Instead of knocking out one spider at a time, look for items to hit or pull down that will eliminate more spiders at once. In the first room, I was told to hit open a box to reveal a tractor you should then target. In room two, I was advised to hit the turbine until it gets going. In room three (the Collector's fortress), look for a glass box housing a magical book, which looks as if it belongs to Doctor Strange. Break that open and you'll unlock what I'm referring to as a small hero moment. (Strange doesn't appear on-screen, but you see a bright orange magic symbol).</p><p>If you've been on Toy Story Midway Mania, completing certain tasks or hitting certain items unlocks or enables bonuses. The same rule applies here. Look for levers to pull, doors to open, and lasers (in the fourth room) to activate.</p><p><strong>Pro-tip:</strong> If I had four people in my party, I would divide up the screen and give every person a different section of the screen to work on - left, right, bottom, and top. Maybe have someone focus on the center.</p><h2><strong>My only gripe: You shouldn't need to purchase add-ons to get the highest score of the day, and it's a little tough to play with a mask</strong></h2><p>After my first two runs through the ride, my higher solo score was over 344,000. I saw the highest score of the morning at that point was over 700,000. A Disney employee working at the attraction told me that to get a higher score, you would need one of the three devices sold outside the attraction.</p><p>Steps away from Web Slingers, DCA sells three items: a Web tech power band ($29.99), a web-shooter ($24.99), and Iron Man's (or Pepper Potts) repulsor ($24.99) at either a supply cart or a store called <a href="https://i.insider.com/60b839e3bee0fc0019d5b033">Web Suppliers</a>. </p><div type="image" title="avengers campus web tech" height="1800" width="1200" msid="83234887" hostid="261"></div><p>Each device gives you special power-ups on the attraction to help you destroy more spider-bots at once and, effectively, gain a higher score.</p><p>I don't really want to spend at least $25 to get the most out of an attraction at a park. <keyword id="41939" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Disneyland">Disneyland</keyword> Resort already canceled its popular (and rather inexpensive) <a href="https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/disneyland-cancels-annual-pass-program-trnd/index.html">annual-pass-holder program in January</a>. Anyone attending Disneyland Resort right now is paying full price (a one-day <a href="https://disneyland.disney.go.com/admission/tickets/">adult ticket to Disneyland or DCA starts at $104</a>) every time they want to enter the park. If you have a family, the last thing you want to do after shelling out a lot for a Disney trip is needing to purchase something to experience an attraction to its fullest extent. </p><p>The other issue I had, which others may run into, was that my 3D glasses kept fogging up because of the mask I was wearing. This may not be an issue for everyone, but it wasn't ideal for me.</p><h2>The bottom line: Get to the park early if you want to try to get on this attraction. Acquire a power band if you want a shot at getting on the scoreboard for bragging rights.</h2><div type="image" title="avengers campus web slinger entrance" height="3024" width="4032" msid="83234889" hostid="261"></div><p>DCA has something special here. After riding I immediately thought that if Disney wanted to make Web Slingers a VR experience for people to purchase and play at home, people would buy it. After all, Sony's excellent Spider-Man game is <a href="https://www.marvel.com/articles/games/marvels-spider-man-ps4-sold-over-13-million-units-worldwide">one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time</a>.</p><p>This ride is such a blast that it's a shame you'll probably get to ride it only once a day right now when you visit. The first time you ride, you'll probably be so in awe of the technology and then focused on mastering your technique to shoot a web that you won't fully notice and activate all of the little bonuses in each round. But that's the point. The attraction is designed for you to return.</p><p>Like Galaxy Edge's Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland, I predict it will be tough to get on the actual attraction. Disney's made a virtual queue for the attraction. You can't just walk right up to it and get in line. According to press materials I received, reservations for the ride will be made available each day at 7 a.m. and noon. With Rise, you needed to be at the park at a certain time to wait to press a button in the Disneyland app to hope you pressed it fast enough to acquire a boarding pass for some time that day. Throughout his character arc in the books and the films, he was careful about what he revealed about himself, and to whom.</p><p>Before using her platform <a href="https://www.insider.com/jk-rowlings-transphobia-devastated-trans-harry-potter-fans-2020-6">to spread transphobic messages</a>, the series' <a href="https://www.insider.com/jk-rowling-transgender-comments-show-reality-wizarding-world-harry-potter-2020-6">controversial author, JK Rowling,</a> was known to use Twitter, interviews, and the official Wizarding World website to expand the "Harry Potter" canon beyond the seven books.</p><p>With the <a href="https://www.insider.com/photos-harry-potter-movie-cast-then-and-now">original series</a>, the "Fantastic Beasts" films, and this additional information in mind, read on for some facts about Albus Dumbledore that even die-hard fans may have missed or forgotten.</p><h2><strong>Aberforth may not be his only brother</strong></h2><div type="image" title="aberforth" height="1190" width="1586" msid="78478703" hostid="261"></div><p>Albus's brother Aberforth makes a brief appearance in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and gets formally introduced in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."</p><p>He was instrumental in helping Harry, Ron, and Hermione sneak into Hogwarts for the series' final battle.</p><p>But it may come as a shock that there might be another mysterious Dumbledore brother who wasn't mentioned in the original series.</p><p>During the climax of the 2018 film <a href="https://www.insider.com/harry-potter-fantastic-beasts-movies-ranked-2018-12">"Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,"</a> Gellert Grindelwald tells the orphan Credence Barebone that his real name is Aurelius Dumbledore and he's a long-lost brother of Albus, Aberforth, and Ariana.</p><p>The reveal comes at the end of the film and will most likely be expanded upon in subsequent sequels, but for now it's hard to determine whether Grindelwald was telling the truth or manipulating both Credence and the audience.</p><h2><strong>Albus had a romantic relationship with Gellert Grindelwald</strong></h2><p><a href="https://ew.com/movies/2007/10/20/jk-rowling-outs-dumbledore-gay/">According to Entertainment Weekly</a>, at a press event in 2007, not long after the "Deathly Hallows" book was released, Rowling said she "always saw Dumbledore as gay."</p><p>This was the first glimpse she gave fans into any sort of LGBTQ representation in the Wizarding World.</p><p>More recently, during a feature, originally unearthed by Radio Times, on the "Crimes of Grindelwald" Blu-ray disc, <a href="https://www.vulture.com/2019/03/j-k-rowling-dumbledore-grindelwald-had-sexual-love-affair.html">Rowling expanded</a> on their relationship, calling it "intense," "passionate," and "sexual."</p><p>This news was met with <a href="https://www.insider.com/jk-rowling-dumbledore-and-grindelwald-had-sexual-relationship-2019-3">backlash from fans</a>, who felt the author should have more clearly drawn out this relationship. <a href="https://www.insider.com/fantastic-beasts-jk-rowling-dumbledore-lgbt-backlash-2018-2">LGBTQ communities</a> specifically took issue with the fact that this part of Dumbledore's identity was left out of the "Fantastic Beasts" movies even after Rowling revealed he was gay.</p><h2><strong>Before becoming headmaster, Dumbledore taught Transfiguration, but he may have also instructed another subject</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="dumbledore chamber of secrets flashback" height="1570" width="2093" msid="78478705" hostid="261"></div><p>Years before becoming Hogwarts' headmaster, Dumbledore was a professor at the school. According to the "Harry Potter" book series, he taught Transfiguration and was a regular writer for the magazine Transfiguration Today.</p><p>There is ample evidence that he's skilled at the craft; for example, he was able to make statues come to life and turn Nagini into a rope during the final battle in "Order of the Phoenix."</p><p>In 2018, Jude Law, who plays young Dumbledore in the "Fantastic Beasts" films, <a href="https://ew.com/movies/2018/07/17/jude-law-dumbledore-interview/">told Entertainment Weekly</a> that the professor "doesn't teach Transfiguration" at that point in the series.</p><p>After the release of "The Crimes of Grindelwald," many fans and <a href="https://ew.com/movies/2018/07/12/young-newt-fantastic-beasts-the-crimes-grindelwald/">media outlets</a> speculated that Dumbledore taught Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts in that storyline.</p><h2><strong>He received an Order of Merlin award for defeating Grindelwald</strong></h2><p>The Order of Merlin award is given to wizards who have distinguished themselves with acts of bravery, high levels of achievement, or contributions to their fields.</p><p>Dumbledore received the highest version of the award — Order of Merlin, First Class — for dueling and defeating Gellert Grindelwald in 1945.</p><p>This event changed the course of Wizarding history and prevented Grindelwald from achieving even more power and, most likely, taking more lives.</p><h2><strong>Dumbledore seems to have lied to Harry about what he saw in the Mirror of Erised</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="blood pact dumbledore and grindelwald" height="900" width="1200" msid="78478707" hostid="261"></div><p>When Harry views his innermost desires reflected in the Mirror of Erised as a first-year at Hogwarts, he sees himself surrounded by family members — most notably his mother and his father, who <a href="https://www.insider.com/explanation-of-major-deaths-in-the-harry-potter-series-ranking">died when he was a baby</a>.</p><p>In the scene, he asks Dumbledore what he sees when he looks in it, and the headmaster says he sees himself holding a new pair of thick, woolen socks.</p><p>But per The Leaky Cauldron, during a web chat with <a href="http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/7/30/j-k-rowling-web-chat-transcript/">Bloomsbury in 2007</a>, Rowling told fans that Dumbledore's deepest desire was actually the same as Harry's.</p><p>"He saw his family alive, whole and happy — Ariana, Percival and Kendra all returned to him, and Aberforth reconciled to him," she wrote.</p><p>The highly debated topic shifted again when "The Crimes of Grindelwald" came out because, in the scene where young Dumbledore looks into the mirror, it shows that his greatest desire is to be reunited with Grindelwald.</p><h2><strong>His father was sentenced to life in Azkaban</strong></h2><p>It's revealed in the seventh "Harry Potter" book that Ariana Dumbledore was attacked by a group of Muggles who saw her practicing magic.</p><p>After this event, Albus' father, Percival Dumbledore, took justice into his own hands and sought revenge on his daughter's Muggle attackers — which was highly condemned by the Ministry of Magic.</p><p>Percival worried that revealing the truth of the Muggle attack to the authorities would get Ariana sent away for using underage magic, so instead, he accepted a life sentence in Azkaban prison, where he eventually died.</p><h2><strong>Dumbledore's sister may have been an Obscurial</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="ariana dumbledore" height="1301" width="1735" msid="78478709" hostid="261"></div><p>Because she died so young, there's a lot we don't know about Ariana Dumbledore. From the bits of information that are shared in the series, however, <a href="https://www.seventeen.com/celebrity/movies-tv/a12782020/ariana-dumbledore-obscurus-fan-theory/">fans have speculated that</a> she was an Obscurial — similar to Credence Barebone in the <a href="https://www.insider.com/best-movies-to-watch-if-you-loved-harry-potter">"Fantastic Beasts" series</a>.</p><p>Young wizards become Obscurials when they repress their magic so much that it manifests itself in violent and uncontrollable outbursts.</p><p>After her attack, Ariana did repress her magic out of fear, and in the seventh "Harry Potter" book Aberforth Dumbledore says, "It turned her inward and drove her mad, it exploded out of her when she couldn't control it."</p><p>Whether Ariana was an Obscurial has yet to be confirmed or denied, but more "Fantastic Beast" movies in the works will be looking into Dumbledore's past.</p><h2><strong>Dumbledore's boggart would have shape-shifted into the corpse of his sister</strong></h2><p>One of the greatest burdens in Dumbledore's life was the death of his sister, Ariana. Percival was a <a href="https://kingarthursknights.com/knights-of-the-round-table/sir-percival/">heroic knight</a> of the round table, and also the name of Albus' father. Wulfric is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "wolf" or "powerful," but it could also refer to <a href="https://catholicsaints.info/saint-wulfric-of-haselbury/">St. Wulfric of Haselbury</a>, a miracle worker of the 12th century. Brian is an <a href="https://affiliate.insider.com?postID=5f74a3d0e155cf23c266ddca&amp;site=in&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ancestry.com%2Fname-origin%3Fsurname%3Dbrian">old Celtic name</a> meaning "high" or "noble."</p><p>And finally, Dumbledore is an old English <a href="https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dumbledore">word for "bumblebee."</a></p><h2><strong>He wasn't originally from Godric's Hollow</strong></h2><p>In "Deathly Hallows," Harry is shocked to find out that Dumbledore was from Godric's Hollow, the same town he lived in with his parents before their murder. But Dumbledore didn't always call that town home.</p><p>His family resided in the Wizarding village of Mould-on-the-Wold during his early years. However, after the Muggle attack on Ariana and his father's imprisonment, his mother, Kendra, moved the family to Godric's Hollow.</p><h2><strong>Dumbledore's Patronus takes the shape of a phoenix</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="fawkes harry potter" height="839" width="1119" msid="78478717" hostid="261"></div><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/big-differences-between-harry-potter-books-and-movies">In the films</a>, we never actually see Dumbledore casting a Patronus — a spell most often used to shield a wizard or witch from a Dementor attack — but we do know what it takes the shape of.</p><p>In the "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" book, Dumbledore casts a Patronus to send a message to Hagrid after he finds Viktor Krum has been stunned, and Harry says it looks like a "ghostly bird."</p><p><a href="https://www.wizardingworld.com/features/what-is-a-patronus">Pottermore, now Wizarding World, confirmed</a> that his Patronus took the shape of a phoenix — which is fitting since he's rather fond of Fawkes, the phoenix he keeps in his office at Hogwarts.</p><h2><strong>Some of his accomplishments may have been over-glorified</strong></h2><p>After Dumbledore's death, the "Harry Potter" journalist Rita Skeeter published "The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore," in which she revealed many secrets about the great wizard.</p><p>The book's accuracy may be up for debate given Skeeter's history of spreading slanderous gossip, but it does appear that at least some of her criticisms could be true.</p><p>For example, in one part of the book, Skeeter accuses Dumbledore of lying about having single-handedly discovered the 12 uses for dragon's blood. But "Spider-Man 3" left a bad taste in people's mouths. As reporter Ben Fritz wrote in his book "The Big Picture: The Fight For the Future of Movies," it cost nearly $260 million to make, and profits dipped 35% from "Spider-Man 2" and 64% from "Spider-Man."</p><p>Five years later, Sony rebooted the superhero in 2012 with "The Amazing Spider-Man." Andrew Garfield stepped into the role, replacing Tobey Maguire, and "500 Days of Summer" director Marc Webb took over from Raimi. It made $708 million worldwide, which isn't terrible. When Feige met with former Sony executive and longtime "Spider-Man" producer Amy Pascal in 2014 after "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opened, Pascal threw her sandwich at him, according to Fritz.</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div></span></p><h2>Spider-Man gets back on track</h2><p><span>Sony and Marvel Studios finally struck a deal in 2015. Marvel would be able to use Spider-Man in its cinematic universe, while Sony retained distribution rights and creative control. Pascal, who had shepherded the "Spider-Man" movies since the first in 2002, produced the MCU's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" with Feige. Sony distributed them. </span></p><p><span>That brings us to today. </span></p><p><span>With Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters (<a href="https://variety.com/2019/film/news/spider-man-mcu-sony-disney-agreement-1203308069/">as it's called internally</a>) back on track after the success of last year's "Venom" (it made over $800 million worldwide), and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" making over $1 billion this summer, both sides had something to lose. </span></p><p><span>Spider-Man is Sony's biggest property, so the studio has an extra incentive to maintain its control. Five "Spider-Man" movies make up the studio's top six highest-grossing domestic releases of all time. </span><span></span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div></span></p><p><span>And after the success of "Venom" last year, experts told Business Insider that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/venom-success-explained-sonys-spider-man-universe-here-to-stay-2018-11">it was just the rebound that Sony needed</a>.</span></p><p><span>"This is just the beginning of Sony's reemergence as a studio of box-office distinction," Exhibitor Relations senior box-office analyst Jeff Bock said in November. "They're not giving it up without a fight."</span></p><p><span>That observation is coming true. </span><span>Sony proved with "Venom" that it could make a live-action Spider-Man movie without Spider-Man. Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins told Variety in March that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sony-marvel-spider-man-movies-details-venom-sequel-morbius-2019-3">Sony has "the next seven or eight years laid out"</a> for the "SUMC," including a "Venom" sequel and "Morbius," starring Jared Leto as the vampiric Spider-Man villain.</span></p><p><span>Spider-Man's renewed success was </span><span>a victory for Disney, too, though. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" made nearly $2 billion combined (and counting) thanks to the Marvel Studios brand, and Disney clearly wanted to see a deal that better reflected its contributions to the character's revival.</span></p><h2><span>Can Sony make a Spider-Man movie without Marvel?</span></h2><p><span>Sony is hoping that "Homecoming" and "Far From Home" director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland return for two more Spider-Man movies, according to Deadline. Unless something changes, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige would not be involved, meaning no MCU characters would appear or be referenced. </span><span>That doesn't mean the new movies will flop, though.</span></p><p><span>"If the writing and execution is there, a solid Spider-Man movie - even outside of the MCU - is possible,"  <span name="Dergarabedian, Paul" data-hovercard-id="pdergarabedian@comscore.com" data-hovercard-owner-id="75">Dergarabedian said. </span></span></p><p><span><span name="Dergarabedian, Paul" data-hovercard-id="pdergarabedian@comscore.com" data-hovercard-owner-id="75">Sony made the animated "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" last year, which was a massive critical hit and won the Oscar for best animated feature. It has also made well-received, and successful, live-action "Spider-Man" movies in the past.</span></span></p><p><span>But it's hard to ignore Spider-Man's redemption in Marvel Studios and Feige's hands. "Homecoming" and "Far From Home" showed Marvel Studios' power in attracting audiences. And Feige's involvement expanded beyond the MCU, as he was involved in "Venom's" production but did not have a producer credit, according to a source familiar with the situation (<a href="https://deadline.com/2019/08/kevin-feige-spider-man-franchise-exit-disney-sony-dispute-avengers-endgame-captain-america-winter-soldier-tom-rothman-bob-iger-1202672545/">Deadline</a> also reported this). </span></p><p>While Feige and Marvel seem to be out of Spider-Man's life right now, Sony was hopeful that a deal could still be made in the future in its statement.</p><p><span>"When you look at the incredible success that came out of the Sony/Disney collaboration on 'Homecoming' and 'Far From Home,' it seems almost unfathomable that some sort of deal cannot be ironed out," <span name="Dergarabedian, Paul" data-hovercard-id="pdergarabedian@comscore.com" data-hovercard-owner-id="75">Dergarabedian said.</span></span></p>

A sense of heaviness, gloom and complete disappointment settles in during the second half, as the mundane set-up results in no dramatic or sensory dividends whatsoever. Even if lip-service is paid to some great threat to life on Earth as we know it, the filmmakers bring nothing new to the formula, resulting in a film that's all wind-up and no delivery. The first reviews of 'Fantastic Four' are out and they're not very good

<p>Last week, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/metal-gear-survive-announced-coming-in-2017-2016-8">the first trailer</a> for "Metal Gear Survive," a new entry in the long-beloved "Metal Gear" video game series, hit the web. Coming off the rave reviews of the series' previous&#xa0;game, "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," you'd think fans of the series would be ecstatic to jump back into the "Metal Gear" world.</p><p>That's decidedly <em>not</em> what's happening.</p><p><div></div></p><p><div></div></p><p>Instead, the trailer for "Metal Gear Survive" is triggering outrage amongst its dedicated fanbase, because it's just the latest in a string of events that "Metal Gear" fans perceive to be the gross mishandling&#xa0;of one of gaming's most iconic&#xa0;franchises.</p><h2>Bad blood</h2><p>The majority of this outrage stems from the tumultuous relationship between the series' auteur, Hideo Kojima, and&#xa0;Konami, the company&#xa0;that publishes "Metal Gear" games as well as other video game classics like "Castlevania" and "Silent Hill."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In the time leading up to the release of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" in September 2015, it was clear that something was amiss between Kojima and Konami. In March of that year, references&#xa0;to Kojima's production company were removed from promotional materials for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," and someone within the company claimed Kojima <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/articles/kojima-expected-to-leave-konami-after-mgs5-inside-/1100-6426024/">would be leaving Konami</a> after the game was released.&#xa0;<p>In 2014, Konami released a short demo for&#xa0;horror game called "PT," which was eventually revealed to be a reboot of the iconic "Silent Hill" series, a project&#xa0;Kojima was working on with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and "Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus. The demo was met with near-universal acclaim, but&#xa0;just a few weeks after the aforementioned report of Kojima's departure from Konami surfaced, "Silent Hills" was officially cancelled.</p><p>Additionally, <a href="http://www.polygon.com/2015/12/3/9847206/konami-prevented-kojima-attending-game-awards-2015">it was reported</a> that Konami barred Kojima from attending the 2015 Game Awards, where "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" garnered five nominations and two awards, including Best Action/Adventure Game.</p><p>Really, Kojima's departure from Konami is a symptom of Konami's pivot away from big-budget console games in general. Instead, it's focusing&#xa0;on making&#xa0;Pachinko machines&#xa0;-&#xa0;which are&#xa0;popular&#xa0;Japanese arcade/gambling devices similar to slot machines - and on&#xa0;cheaper mobile games.</p><h2>"Metal Gear Survive"</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>That brings us back to the&#xa0;recent reveal of "Metal Gear Survive," Konami's first "Metal Gear" game developed without Kojima. The multiplayer-only game will be sold for $30 instead of the $60 price tag usually associated with console games, leading many fans to believe it will be a&#xa0;cheap cash grab rather than a sequel worthy of the "Metal Gear" name.<p>Essentially, hardcore fans realize that what makes the "Metal Gear" series so special is Kojima's unique artistic vision, not the Konami brand. Fans are loyal to Kojima, not "Metal Gear" in and of itself.</p><p>In response to the negative reaction to "Metal Gear Survive," Robert Allan Peer,&#xa0;online community manager for Konami, has been engaging with fans over Twitter. He understands the backlash, <a href="https://twitter.com/popcicle/status/766288305461858304">saying</a>&#xa0;"Metal Gear Survive" needs to "prove itself for sure."&#xa0;</p><p><div></div></p><p>Peer seems to think&#xa0;that as more of "Metal Gear Survive" is revealed, more fans will come to embrace it, but&#xa0;many remain unsympathetic&#xa0;to a post-Kojima-era Konami.</p><p>Amongst those closed off to Konami's latest offering might be Norman Reedus himself. MSNBC Fires Its Social Media Manager For Tweet About The Cheerios Super Bowl Ad [THE BRIEF]

<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"><span class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><span><span data-post-image="" class="image on-image"></span><p></p></span></span>When America dropped its two atom bombs, Little Boy and Fat Man, over Japan in August 1945, it launched the world into a devastating new era of warfare. Nearly 70 years later, humanity is still trying to contain the fallout. But in its zeal to check nuclear proliferation, America--along with Israel--opened up yet another theatre of war: cyberspace.</span></p>
<p>In 2007 a computer worm called Stuxnet was detected for the first time by virus-scanning software, although signs of it may have existed unnoticed before that. At least three more versions followed, seeking to wreak havoc upon Iran's uranium-enrichment facility at Natanz. Stuxnet made itself busy. It turned valves on and off and meddled with the centrifuges, wasting uranium and damaging equipment. It succeeded in slowing Iran's uranium enrichment, and by extension its purported nuclear-weapons programmes, making Stuxnet the first documented case of cyber-warfare intended to cause physical damage.</p>
<p>Where Stuxnet fell short was in remaining hidden, thanks to a series of "flubs that should never have occurred", writes Kim Zetter in "Countdown to Zero Day", an authoritative account of Stuxnet's spread and discovery. In June 2010 a tiny antivirus firm in Belarus stumbled upon Stuxnet while investigating a malfunctioning machine in Iran. The worm contained a "zero-day exploit"--a previously undiscovered software bug--that brought it to attention. An unprecedented five "zero-day exploits" were eventually found in the code. Researchers also discovered that Stuxnet had used a stolen digital certificate, the foundation of the internet's web of trust, bringing the worm further renown.</p>
<p>Such attention-grabbing tactics were the first mistake. The second was failing to anticipate the willingness of security experts to make up for the shortcomings of Iranian investigators. Researchers at Symantec, and Kaspersky, an American and a Russian computer-security company, tore apart Stuxnet and its siblings for more than two years in a bid to reveal the full range of their abilities.</p>
<p>Had Ms Zetter, a reporter at Wired, stopped at simply recounting this saga, "Countdown to Zero Day" would be an interesting record of an intriguing worm of little interest beyond security specialists. But the book deserves a wider audience for its sobering message about the vulnerability of the systems--train lines, water-treatment plants, electricity grids--that make modern life possible. These industrial control systems are increasingly hooked up to the internet, allowing remote access. Passwords are seldom changed from the systems' defaults. Security updates are rare. Firewalls and network logs are inconsistent. Warnings are ignored. Little surprise, then, that researchers have been able to simulate shutting down energy grids, infiltrating water plants and destroying generators. A 14-year-old in Poland derailed four trams in 2008. Another teenager took down communications at a Massachusetts airport. Utilities today encourage the use of internet-connected "smart meters" in homes. The attackers of tomorrow could very well use them to black out entire cities.</p>
<p>Despite the opportunity, the world has yet to see a sequel to Stuxnet. But "given the varied and extensive possibilities for conducting such attacks," Ms Zetter writes, "...it is only a matter of time until the lure of the digital assault becomes too irresistible for someone to pass up." Containing this new proliferation will be even harder. It takes money, raw materials and large facilities to develop nuclear weapons. A cyberwarrior needs only a computer and an internet connection to wreak havoc.</p>

<p>A lot of people missed out on the news because the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" panel was taking place <span>simultaneously.</span></p>

<p>It looks like Warner Bros. may be leaning toward the latter. The studio hasn't <a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/07/23/batman-superman-sequel-dc-title/" target="_blank">made any comment</a>.</p>
<p>The title's pretty uninspiring. </p>
<p>Part of the creative process behind first Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy and then Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" was that they didn't use the generic names for the superheroes like "Iron Man" and "Hulk." </p>
<p>That's what set the DC universe apart at the box office from Marvel.</p>
<p>When Warner Bros. first considered a Batman / Superman movie — teased in 2007 — it was also aimed to be called "<a href="http://movieline.com/2012/02/28/exclusive-book-excerpt-how-batman-vs-supermans-development-hell-gave-way-to-batman-begins/" target="_blank">Batman vs. Superman</a>." </p>
<p>According to David Hughes book "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tales-From-Development-Hell-Greatest/dp/0857687239" target="_blank">Tales from Development Hell</a>," the failed "Batman Vs. Superman" project paved the way for the Nolan's trilogy.</p>
<p>Warner Bros. has always had a difficult time putting the right label on any project between its two biggest superheroes. </p>

Sometimes, the movie is referred to as "World's Finest" — a comic series featuring the two heroes. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In 2002, comic series </span><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Superman-Batman-VOL-01-Enemies/dp/1401202209" target="_blank">Superman/Batman</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> was released. </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The more recent 2009 animated picture was called "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Superman-Batman-Enemies-Two-Disc-Special/dp/B0027FG2CG" target="_blank">Superman / Batman: Public Enemies</a>."</span></p>
<p>Of course, we understand why Warner Bros. would lean toward such a title. </p>
<p><span>Pitting superheroes against each other sounds like box-office gold to a general audience.</span></p>
<p><span>You can't use the "Dark Knight" title since that's reserved to Nolan's trilogy. </span></p>
<p><span>And Warner Bros. can't exactly call the film "Caped Crusader Meets Son of Krypton."</span></p>
<p><span>The easiest way for people to identify with the film is to have the names of the two superheroes in the title. How do you do that without getting clunky?</span></p>
<p><span>Perhaps something like: "Batman &amp; Superman: Gotham City Crisis" (or Metropolis) or "Batman &amp; Superman: Blackest Night." Even "Batman &amp; Superman: No Man's Land" makes sense.</span></p>
<p>These titles of course are presuming there's a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lex_Luthor" target="_blank">Lex Luthor connection</a> in the "Man of Steel" sequel — which was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-superman-reboot-man-of-steel-does-right-2013-6?#hints-at-whats-in-store-for-the-next-films-12" target="_blank">hinted in the film</a>. </p>
