The announcement came on Monday as Jio revealed its quarterly results, showcasing staggering numbers and milestones achieved in various segments. As of March 2024, Jio boasts a subscriber base of 481.8 million, out of which 108 million subscribers are on Jio's True5G Standalone network. The number reflects Jio's stronghold in the Indian telecom market. According to a press release, the total traffic on the Jio network has reached 40.9 Exabytes, marking a 35.2 per cent year-on-year increase. This surge is attributed to the growing adoption of 5G and Home services. Notably, 28 per cent of the traffic comes from 5G subscribers, indicating a swift transition towards next-generation connectivity. Additionally, Jio's Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services have contributed significantly to the data traffic. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a dramatic 2.4x increase in annual data traffic, with per capita monthly data usage skyrocketing to 28.7 GB from just 13.3 GB three years ago. This surge underscores the growing reliance on digital connectivity in India. Commenting on the results, <keyword id="3820" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani" source="Orion">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the company's performance and its contribution to the Indian economy. He highlighted the significant achievements, including becoming the first Indian company to cross the Rs 100,000-crore threshold in pre-tax profits. Ambani said, "Initiatives across RIL's businesses have made a remarkable contribution towards fostering growth of various sectors of the Indian economy. It is heartening to note that alongside strengthening the national economy, all segments have posted a robust financial and operating performance. This has helped the Company achieve multiple milestones. I am happy to share that this year, Reliance became the first Indian company to cross the Rs 100,000-crore threshold in pre-tax profits." Ambani also emphasized Jio's role in driving the digital transformation in India, from upgrading 2G users to smartphones to leading the effort in producing AI-driven solutions. He reiterated Jio's commitment to strengthening the nation's digital infrastructure and its continued efforts to provide innovative solutions to consumers. The company's retail arm, Reliance Retail, also showed robust growth, with a 36 per cent increase in footfalls and strong digital commerce platforms offering a broad brand catalogue. "Reliance Retail continued to provide customers endless choices through its robust omni-channel presence. We continue to offer product differentiation and superior offline experience through stores remodelling and revamping of layouts. Our digital commerce platforms also provide newer solutions to users with a broad brand catalogue. Reliance Retail also works towards strengthening millions of merchants through its unique initiatives in new commerce space", said Ambani. In addition to its telecom and retail segments, Reliance Industries Limited has shown resilience in its Oil to Chemicals (O2C) segment, despite challenging market conditions. The KG-D6 block has achieved significant production milestones, accounting for 30 per cent of India's domestic gas production. Ambani emphasised, "Strong demand for fuels globally, and limited flexibility in refining system worldwide, supported margins and profitability of the O2C segment. Downstream chemical industry experienced increasingly challenging market conditions through the year." He added, "Despite headwinds, maintaining leading product positions and feedstock flexibility through our operating model that prioritises cost management, we delivered a resilient performance. The KG-D6 block has achieved 30 MMSCMD of production and now accounts for 30 per cent of India's domestic gas production." In terms of financial performance, Reliance Jio has achieved several remarkable milestones. The consolidated EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) at Rs 178,677 crore, while the consolidated Profit Before Tax (PBT) has surpassed Rs 100,000 crore. The company's market capitalization has crossed Rs 20,00,000 crore, further solidifying its position as one of India's most valuable companies. Reliance Jio emerges as World's largest mobile operator in data traffic, surpassing China mobile

Telecom major <keyword id="1553175" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone-Idea">Vodafone Idea</keyword> Limited (VIL) on Tuesday announced that it has selected <keyword id="10875" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBM">IBM</keyword> Services to help it embrace open source at scale across the enterprise by implementing the <keyword id="10099317" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="big-data-platform">big data platform</keyword> on open source Hadoop framework. The <keyword id="10099318" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ibm-big-data">IBM big data</keyword> platform helps businesses address the "full spectrum" of big data business challenges. BM Services implements data transformation with open technologies to propel Vodafone Idea's hybrid cloud strategy. Vodafone Idea has a need for large scale data transformation with a focus on architecture modernisation, open-source adoption and using predictive analytics for data modernisation. By partnering on this implementation, IBM is helping VIL transform the way data is optimised and delivered to partners, employees and internal systems. Fragmented, siloed data can now be streamlined for seamless data availability, the tech giant said. VIL will also be able to combine insights from the Big Data Platform and better leverage cloud native technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance revenues, reduce costs and elevate customer experiences, IBM said. "The modernised and future-ready data platform is helping VIL get daily actionable insights to make strategic and operational level decisions effectively," Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia, said in a statement. "IBM and VIL team worked together in challenging times of COVID-19 lockdown to seamlessly execute a complex and enterprise-wide deployment remotely," he said. Currently, insights derived from the data are leveraged for management dashboards, campaign management, network analytics, usage traffic analysis, product analysis, amongst others. Vodafone Idea said that the deployment will help millions of its customers with customised and faster service launches. Vodafone Idea inks pact with IBM to implement a big data platform

<ul><li>Reliance Jio is asking TRAI to either reduce or remove Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC). </li><li>TRAI had initially planned to remove IUC charges from January 1, 2020 under the Bill and Keep (BAK) regime. </li><li>Airtel and Vodafone Idea were against the move, citing huge costs involved in allowing incoming calls from the Jio network.</li></ul> Reliance Jio approached the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to either reduce or remove Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC). Currently, IUC is charged at 6 paise per minute by the operator on whose network the calls terminate. In October, Reliance Jio announced that it will start charging 6 paise per minute for calls that are made to other networks. This change was made on packs which promised complete free calling earlier. Jio-to-Jio calls however continued to remain free. At the time, Jio noted that this charge would be levied until TRAI removes IUC charges. TRAI had initially planned to remove IUC charges from January 1, 2020 under the Bill and Keep (BAK) regime. However, incumbent operators Airtel and Vodafone Idea were against the move, citing huge costs involved in allowing incoming calls from the Jio network. Last week, TRAI held an open discussion on “Review of Interconnection Usage Charges”. Jio’s representative at the discussion held that since voice calling symmetry has been achieved between Jio and the incumbent operators, there was no need to levy IUC charges anymore. The company <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/jio-urges-trai-for-removal-or-reduction-of-iuc-charges-4645571.html">held</a> that the BAK regime should be implemented as planned from January 1, 2020. The implementation of this regime would bring down IUC charges to zero. Airtel and Vodafone Idea opposed this argument and demanded that IUC charges of 6 paise per minute should be levied for the next three years at least. Reliance Jio alleged that Airtel and Vodafone Idea were diverting their incoming voice call traffic to 2G or 3G networks to inflate their voice call costs. This could hold some merit as we’ve experienced that incoming voice calls on Airtel’s network are routed via 2G, which puts the Jio 4G network on pause temporarily even on a compatible dual 4G VoLTE smartphone. Airtel however denied these allegations. Vodafone Idea, on its part, did not expressly deny this and stated that subscribers were free to port out of their network. Reliance Jio asks TRAI to either reduce or remove IUC charges

Several Indian telecom companies are offering incentives to use internet from midnight to wee hours of the morning, forcing Indian smartphone users to increasingly go online in those hours. These offers have existed for a long time but only 1% of data was being consumed by users post midnight. However, after <keyword id="2003276" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword>’s commercial entry last September, there has been a mammoth rise in such offers as data usage in these hours has gone up to 10-15%, as per Counterpoint Research. By the time this financial year ends, the usage might have crossed 20%, say industry experts. "The success of night calling plans has led the operators to come up with night exclusive plans, which was initially influenced by Jio," Satyajit Sinha, research analyst for mobility and Internet of Things at Counterpoint told <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/internet/spurred-by-various-data-plans-users-are-going-online-after-midnight-to-make-most-of-data-plans/articleshow/59673814.cms">ET</a>. "And at the same time, the biggest challenge for an operator is not only to increase the subscriber base but also to provide customer satisfaction to existing consumers by updating plans frequently, so they don't port to other competitors." The rise in offers was triggered by Jio's night plan it offered from December to March, giving free and unlimited data between 2 am and 5 am along with a 1GB a day plan. This led to rival telcos, viz. <keyword id="6354287" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bharti-Airtel">Bharti Airtel</keyword>, Vodafone India and <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword>, to come up with their own night plans. Better internet speeds are keeping Indian smartphone users up all night

Once arch rivals, Vodafone, Bharati <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> and Idea Cellular have now teamed up against <keyword id="2003276" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword> and complained to the government that latter’s predatory pricing has been eating up in their revenues. To make sure, the government pays heed to their outrage, the three telecom operators claimed their incompetence to invest in future technology and create jobs. The top players in the industry had met a government panel, which aims to analyse the losses in the industry. <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> backed Jio has been accused of providing cellular services at ‘too low’ a cost, which is responsible for decline in the revenue generation. According to a <keyword id="6356641" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="times-of-india">Times of India</keyword> report, the worst affected Airtel, which has seen a severe contraction in profitability post the aggressive launch of services by Jio in September last year, said that the return on capital employed (ROCE) had dropped down to "perilously lower levels" and is "highly likely to be negative" if relief is not provided. Airtel said losses to the industry will also restrict the government's ability to earn from the sector. Its earnings will come down by Rs 10,000 crore. "Consolidation/ reduced investments will result in loss of direct/ indirect employment." The companies have sought to increase charge for terminating a call on their networks to be increased from the existing 14 paise per minute. "The IUC rate of 14 paise is lower than actual cost. In order to make this financially viable, it is critical that traffic between operators is symmetrical," Airtel told <keyword id="6371459" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="toi">TOI</keyword>. "IUC needs to be correctly determined to prevent predatory voice-pricing environment. Aggressive tariffs in voice and data have resulted in a scenario of pricing below cost with every operator," Idea told TOI, seeking the fixation of a floor price for voice and data prices. However Jio has refused to the allegations. It believes that lack of investments by them in new technologies and mounting debt are making the other rivals outrageous.

Airtel, Vodafone, Idea blame Jio for revenue losses

Ever since <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword>’s soft launch in December last year, the <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> owned telecom company has been fighting a never ending battle with the incumbent telecom players in the sector. One of the major grouse for Reliance <keyword id="2003276" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword> has been the issue of inadequate point of interconnection (PoI). All telecom operators need <keyword id="3809799" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="POIS">PoIs</keyword> from one another in order to connect its users call from one network to the other. Reliance Jio in its latest statement says that 4 crore calls are failing every day between Jio and <keyword id="41511" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="idea">Idea</keyword>, this after Idea released a statement a while back saying the company will be providing over 230% additional capacity, allowing for two way calling between the networks. But Jio says “The response by Idea to the severe Quality of Service issues faced between the Idea and Jio networks is disappointing and displays lack of intent on Idea’s part to resolve this critical issue”, the company said in a statement. 
 
 
All operators are obligated as per license conditions to provide adequate interconnection capacity so that call failure rate is less than 5 calls per 1000 calls. It was not long ago when we saw a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Airtel-and-jio-spar-over-PoIs-and-MNP/articleshow/54421989.cms">biggest slugfest in the telecom industry</a> between Reliance Jio and <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> over the issue of PoIs, Jio says over 12crore calls each fail on both Airtel and <keyword id="15492" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone">Vodafone</keyword> network and now Jio says that 750 calls out of 1000 fail on Idea network. Idea says with its new capacity expansion to Jio “over 2,100 ports will now be available for traffic between Idea and Jio, allowing sufficient buffer for the future”. Jio differs from Idea, “even the proposed augmented capacity is less than 40% of the initial firm demand placed by RJIL based on transparent workings shared with Idea several months ago.” Jio said in the same statement. 
 
Importantly, Jio also commented on the tone of the statements released by the incumbent telecom operators, “The manner of release of new capacity by Idea and the other incumbent operators is very disillusioning insofar as it is being reflected as a favour to Jio. No favours are being made towards Jio by any of the operators. All operators are obligated as per license conditions to provide interconnection such that Quality of Service parameters are met.” Jio said.

Reliance Jio tells incumbent telcos to watch their tone. And now Idea faces Jio’s heat

Mukesh Ambani-led <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> Infocomm is going to ask for additional points of intersection during its meeting with Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword>, <keyword id="6354923" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone-India">Vodafone India</keyword> and <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword>. 
 
As per reports, Reliance Jio users are facing call drops issue due to which the telecom player is going to ask for additional points of intersection in an one-on-one meeting with the top three incumbent telcos. 
 
In return of additional intersection points, the incumbent players are expected to demand for a mobile termination charge higher than the 14 paise/minute fixed by the sectoral watchdog due to the huge inbound traffic from Jio. 
 
Reliance Jio may ask for around 7,000 additional points of intersection on an immediate basis. 
 Recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (<keyword id="6356988" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRAI">TRAI</keyword>) had asked Reliance Jio and top three incumbent players to resolve the interconnect matter. 
 
The TRAI warned it would intervene if quality of services declines and consumers suffer. 
 
But, the top three telcos said they would provide additional PoIs as needed, they are in no mood to give in to Jio's demands for additional PoIs on the latter's terms. 
 
Last month, Jio had demanded 12,500 intersection points from the top three incumbents to initially meet the needs of 22 million customers, but the GSM biggies only released 1,400 PoIs to the 4G entrant. 
 
"We understand that the PoIs provided by us to Reliance Jio is about double of what they need based on the current exchange of traffic with all other operators in India. Having said that, we have invited Reliance Jio for a discussion to understand their additional requirements and will be happy to provide more PoIs," an Airtel spokesperson told ET over email. 
 
"Our current allocation of PoIs would in normal circumstances cater to 4.65 million such subscribers, indicating a buffer of 57% in calling capacity, (but) Idea has now decided to proactively, expand capacity with Jio to over 6.5 million subscribers, with the release of 196 additional POIs, shortly,” Idea told ET.

Airtel, Idea, Vodafone may give additional points of intersection to Reliance Jio but only on one condition

On the first day of <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword>’s commercial launch, outlets did not have the time to breathe as crowds thronged shops to get their 4G SIM cards and avail the welcome offer. 
 
Retail shops went out of stock as thousands queued up outside Reliance Digital and Xpress outlets for free 4G SIMs from early morning. 
 Banking on this wave, <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> may extend his welcome offer beyond January 01, 2017, which will also help him in extending the consumer base and shoot up volumes. 
 If this happens, Reliance Jio’s rivals <keyword id="6354287" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharti-Airtel">Bharti Airtel</keyword>, <keyword id="15492" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone">Vodafone</keyword> India and <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> will have to face tough time and announce attractive plans to retain their loyal customers. 
 
As per industry experts, it is likely that other telecom operators will also slash data and voice call rates. 
 
Ambani, during his AGM, had announced free voice calls for life. 
 
"Its free voice calls and dirt cheap data tariffs offer might not seem sustainable in the long run, but one mustn't forget that Jio derives its strength from RIL's balance sheet, and can easily treat its pricing model as a business development cost to poach quality customers from incumbents over a period of time," an analyst told ET. 
 
Ex-Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor told ET Jio's future tariff strategy "is contingent on how many quality customers it acquires by January 1" and how soon it's able to sort out traffic imbalances and reduce potential interconnect payouts to incumbents.

 Even though <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> said it will provide additional PoIs, <keyword id="3576212" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio-Users">Reliance Jio users</keyword> are having a tough time to make calls. <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> officials told ET, “We hope Airtel, Vodafone India and <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> will enhance the PoIs sufficiently to meet their license obligation of QoS (quality of service) with immediate effect and maintain these parameters on an ongoing basis.” 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mukesh+Ambani&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mukesh </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mukesh+Ambani&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ambani</a>-led Reliance Jio said that the No.1 telecom company, didn't act "for the last several weeks" on the Jio's periodic requests for more PoIs. 
 
"Necessary details have been provided to Airtel from time to time, highlighting the urgency of the requirement and the impact on Quality of Service parameters. However, no action was taken for the last several weeks, resulting in non-compliance of TRAI regulation on quality of service which mandates that POI congestion should not affect more than 1 call in every 200 calls made," Jio told ET. 
 
According to Jio, out of every 100 over 75 calls from Jio networks have failed. More than 22 crore calls made from Jio networks to Airtel networks have failed and around 52 crore calls in total, made from Jio to the three major operators - Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, have failed. 
 
"<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=RJIL&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">RJIL</a> has been raising the issue of insufficient POIs as anti-competitive aimed at hindering the entry of a new operator. We have repeatedly appealed to the incumbent operators to create a fair and reciprocal framework of coopetition that is good for India and good for Indian customers," Jio told ET. 
 
"Voice traffic on its (Jio's) network is in line with industry trends and as expected for any new operator in the early days of operations of any new operator, there are more outgoing calls than incoming calls," Jio told ET. Further adding it said, “that the telco's outgoing traffic was less than two calls per customer per hour even during peak traffic period - spread across all operators - which requires only a reasonable number of PoIs.”

But Reliance Jio’s move to increase tariffs came sooner than expected. Even as Jio, Vodafone Idea and Airtel are teasing each other over it on social media, and thousands are trolling Mukesh Ambani for ‘breaking his free’ promise---it is good news for the industry. At least that is what India Ratings believes. Jio charging its customers 6 paise per minute on its ‘free’ calling package—can help increase the rising margins of the industry. The sector’s average revenue per user will go up by ₹9, and in general increase by 15-18% according to the rating agency. Like Jio says in its tweet, this amount will be going to Vodafone Idea and Airtel as Jio can no longer get away without paying telecom department’s mandatory inter-connection (IUC) charges. This is the charge paid to a network which is receiving calls, by the network from where a call originates. In an ideal situation, the amount all networks pay each other should balance out—considering their subscriber number is around the same. However, that is not to be. Jio has the most to lose. The offnet minutes of usage is 64% for Jio, while it is at 41% for Voda-Idea and 45% for Airtel. “Also, of the total offnet voice traffic, net incoming minutes as a proportion of total offnet minutes stands at negative 29% for R-Jio whereas the same is 9% and 19% for Airtel and Voda-Idea respectively, implying that network voice traffic imbalance is significantly higher for R-Jio compared with peers. Hence, R-Jio remains a net-payer of IUC expenses, whereas Voda-Idea and Airtel are net-receivers of IUC receipts,” says India Ratings. Basically, calls originate from Jio and land on other networks. Jio users continue to keep other network SIMs It means that more people are using Jio SIMs for its cheap data plans, and also for making the ‘free’ calls it offers. It makes sense as Jio’s data tariffs are 25-30% cheaper than that of Airtel and Voda-Idea. Yet, users have not given up their basic SIMs which belonged to other networks, and continue to exist. These numbers are ‘primary’ phone numbers which are key to their bank accounts and other necessary identifications. And, few seem to believe that cheap tariff party will not continue to exist. All mixed with the ease of owning multiple SIMs have played against Jio. Had subscribers chosen to keep only Jio connections and get rid of others, they would have ported to it. Looks like not many have done that.

With Indian Internet users voicing their support for net neutrality in the country, the telecom regulator has received more than 1.5 lakh emails over the weekend . 
 
In the last few hours, at nearly 10 emails a minute, the pace of such emails have touched record speed flooding the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's inbox. 
 "This is completely unprecedented. We thought we'll get about 15,000 emails in 10 days," Kiran Jonnalagadda, one of people behind the campaign told the ET. Earlier, the telecom regulator had sought views from the public on regulating 'over the top' service providers like <keyword id="790242" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="WhatsApp">Whatsapp</keyword> and <keyword id="6377887" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Skype">Skype</keyword>. 
 
The e-mail campaign to protect net neutrality began on Saturday around 3 pm through Savetheinternet.in website. A video created by popular standup comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB) also pushed many users to sign up for the campaign. 
 
The video was shared thousands of times within a short period on Facebook. Because of the unusually high number of shares, the social network mistook it for spam and took it off people's timelines. It was soon restored after many users complained. 
 
 
Net neutrality, or the notion that Internet service providers must treat all traffic as equal, became a topic of heated discussion after TRAI floated a consultation paper on "Regulatory Framework for Over-the-Top (OTT) Services" seeking comments from stakeholders. 
 Last week, telecom provider <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> launched Airtel Zero, a scheme through which companies can pay Airtel and have users browse their service free of data charges. The practice of allowing apps to be free of data charges to the consumer is called ‘zero rating’ in telecom parlance. 
 
By paying to be on Airtel Zero, companies can make sure that their users get free access to their service, while smaller players are at a disadvantage. Airtel has said that zero rating does not violate net neutrality as it lowers the cost of access and it is "non-discriminatory". 
 Many startups are staunchly opposed to breaking net neutrality. "It creates a class system all over again, this time, for people with money," Sai Srinivas Kiran, <keyword id="5645" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="CEO">CEO</keyword> of Tewee, a hardware startup for video streaming told the financial daily. 
 Many politicians like Tathagata Satpathy, Derek O'Brien and <keyword id="205969" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajeev-Chandrasekhar">Rajeev Chandrasekhar</keyword> have also taken up the issue. In December 2014, Airtel had also tried to introduce a plan to charge Internet telephony companies like Skype and Whatsapp a higher tariff. However, the telecom operator withdrew the plan after public outrage.
