So, is the Vivo V40 Pro as promising in real-life as much as it looks on the specs sheet? The phone boasts a sleek and modern design that feels great in hand, thanks to its curved front and back glass panels, which effortlessly blend into the rounded frame. Hence, I would recommend using it with the back cover on always. The Titanium Grey colour makes it look like it belongs in a conference room and is built for serious business. I am a fan of minimalist designs and if that’s what you prefer in a phone, you will love the design language of the V40 Pro. The camera module at the back mimics a pendulum, with two cameras neatly positioned in a circular arrangement at the top, while a third camera and a distinctive aura LED ring complete the look in the bottom module. The symmetrical, artistic design of the camera module adds to the phone’s elegance. Then there’s the usual Vivo branding on the left and Zeiss branding placed within the camera module. On the right edge, there is a power button and volume buttons. The placing of these buttons is spot on as I could easily turn the volume up and down using my thumb while holding the phone. The bottom edge has the Type-C charging port and speakers along with the SIM tray. On the front, the phone comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is surrounded by slim bezels that result in an immersive experience and also has a punch-hole notch which enhances the experience. The display comes with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. I watched a couple of episodes of The Modern Family and The Walking Dead on Netflix and loved the experience. <h2>Vivo V40 Pro review: Software, performance and battery</h2> When it comes to performance, the V40 Pro meets expectations. The phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ processor and everyday tasks feel smooth and seamless. Whether you're making calls, jotting down notes in a meeting, editing photos in Adobe Lightroom, or playing games, the phone can take care of it all. I didn’t encounter any lags or performance issues, even with multiple apps running simultaneously. In fact, I managed to have 18 apps open at once without the phone slowing down, showcasing its impressive multitasking capabilities. I also played a couple of games on the phone including COD Mobile, Genshin Impact, The Sims Freeplay and Battlegrounds Mobile India. The phone was capable of running all the games perfectly at medium and high graphic settings. It did get fairly warm after some intense gameplay but it never got to the point where I had to keep it down. The speakers, enough to fill up a medium-sized room, felt adequate. If your usage is light, it might last a couple of hours over that too. Hence, the battery life is quite impressive. I used the phone at work extensively every day and found myself reaching for a charger only on the following morning when I woke up. When I played Battlegrounds Mobile India on the phone for an hour, the battery dropped by 13 per cent. I was playing with full brightness on. Hence, if you are gaming on the phone for long hours, it is a good idea to have your charger next to you. The phone also charged to a full 100 per cent in about 50 minutes. On the software side, the Vivo V40 Pro runs <keyword id="21133649" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FuntouchOS-14" source="keywords">FuntouchOS 14</keyword>, built on Android 14. In my opinion, the Zeiss Natural mode delivers the most accurate colour reproduction, and it quickly became my go-to for its lifelike results. Vivo V40 Pro review: Sleek design, strong performance, impressive camera

The Enforcement Directorate filed its first charge sheet in connection with its money laundering probe against Chinese smartphone maker Vivo-India and some others, official sources said on Thursday. The prosecution complaint has been filed before a special court here on Wednesday under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and vivo-India has been named an accused apart from those arrested in this case, the sources told PTI. The federal probe agency arrested four persons, including the MD of the Lava International mobile company Hari Om Rai, in this investigation. The others who were taken into custody were Chinese national Guangwen alias Andrew Kuang, Chartered Accountants Nitin Garg and Rajan Malik. The ED had then claimed in its remand papers before a local court here that the alleged activities of the four enabled vivo-India to make wrongful gains that were detrimental to the economic sovereignty of India. It had raided vivo-India and its linked persons in July last year, claiming to have busted a major money laundering racket involving Chinese nationals and multiple Indian companies. The ED had then alleged that a whopping Rs 62,476 crore was "illegally" transferred by vivo-India to China to avoid payment of taxes in India. The company had said that it "firmly adheres to its ethical principles and remains dedicated to legal compliance." Rai had recently told a court here that though his company and vivo-India were in talks to launch a joint venture in India a decade ago, he had nothing to do with the Chinese firm or its representatives since 2014. "He has not derived any monetary benefit, nor has he engaged in any transaction with vivo-India or any entity allegedly related to vivo, let alone having been associated with any alleged 'proceeds of crime'," Rai's lawyer told the court. The agency filed an enforcement case information report (ECIR), the ED equivalent of a police FIR, on February 3 after studying a Delhi Police FIR of December last year against an associated company of vivo-India, Grand Prospect International Communication Pvt Ltd (GPICPL), its directors, shareholders and some others professionals. The police complaint was filed by the Corporate Affairs Ministry alleging that GPICPL and its shareholders used "forged" identification documents and "falsified" addresses at the time of incorporation of the company in December 2014.

Generally this means incremental changes and not serious upgrades for consumers to be excited about. I was also in the same boat until I got my hands on the X100 Pro. The new smartphone while carrying a similar design has stepped up a notch especially in the camera department. And honestly, this is why an X series smartphone stands out, the all new camera set-up deserves your attention. However, is a good camera enough for you to consider this as your next flagship? I will tell you in my detailed review. Price &amp; Availability Vivo X100 Pro is available in one variant that packs in 16GFB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It is priced at ₹89,999. Camera Performance Since the X100 Pro features the most significant upgrades in the camera department, it is important to cover this aspect first. The X100 Pro features a 1-inch 50MP primary sensor with laser autofocus and OIS. This is also a floating lens. It is paired with a 100mm 50MP periscope telephoto sensor with OIS and 4.3X optical zoom. Finally there is a 50MP ultrawide sensor. These cameras are packed together at the back in a fairly large circular camera module. Notably the all three cameras have Zeiss’ flavor to them and it shows up. The freedom to just point and shoot adds to the joy since the camera captures a great amount of details, with color accuracy. The dynamic range is excellent with surprisingly good highlights. White balance in bright outdoors isn’t something that would bother you since that is also perfect. I have clicked a good amount of pictures with a ton of moving subjects in the streets of Hong Kong with this smartphone and it didn’t disappoint me. The noise is minimal with the images and the depth of field is also satisfactory. The default images are of 12.5MP which are fairly good, and I didn’t find a need to shoot full 50MP unless I had to edit the images later. Using the periscope lens with different focal lengths also delivered consistent and solid results. Especially at the 4.3X/100mm focal length where I assumed the camera would falter, but it didn’t. The image results were stellar with hardly any focus shift which surprised me. The dynamic range was excellent and I didn’t notice any noise. However 4.3X is not where it stops; you can actually take it to the 100X as well. Is it the best in the business? That's debatable, but does it get the job done? Yes. The images do get grainy as you would expect with the maxed out zoom, however if you are trying to capture action with it, you are in good hands. You can have a look at the samples below for reference. Now if you zoom out and switch to the ultra wide sensor, it performs in a text book format. This means while it doesn’t have anything out of ordinary to offer, it manages to deliver expected results. Which are brilliant. What stays consistent here is the color accuracy which remains intact through and through. Now the X100 Pro is also using algorithms actively and might I say efficiently as well. This comes in full display when we take low light shots. It has a night mode which kicks in automatically. When you take an image, it takes a good 3-4 seconds to process it and show you the results. What we see is a highlighted product with results which definitely surprised me. The details are perfect with satisfactory dynamic range in place. The image results remain consistent across all photo modes, be it ultrawide or telephoto with the camera delivering detailed outputs. Now let's talk about close-up shots and portraits. Starting with the portraits here, which are enhanced further with a buffet of filters we get on the X100 Pro. My favorite is the monochrome filter since it delivers crisp portraits with perfect edge detection. We get 5 focal lengths for portraits here, 24mm, 35mm,50mm,85mm and 100mm. And while the first 4 use the primary camera, the 100mm uses the telephoto sensor. For me the best results were from 50mm focal length since it balances out what I expect from a portrait. Super Macro mode also lets you play with different focal lengths at 25mm and 46mm. You can also go upto 4.3X and 8.6X if you want. You would notice the camera being switched from primary to telephoto here. I observed the best results at 8.6X. Not only did this allow me to maintain a respectable distance from the subject but also captured the action in detail. You also have a pro mode over here, which allows you to tinker with every aspect of the camera. From ISO to focal lengths, there are enough options here that you can learn professional photography and terminology. Let’s talk videos now, the primary camera here can record upto 8K videos at 30FPS. It can do that with 1X and 2X. Rest of the cameras can also record at 4K 30 &amp; 60FPS. There is also always electronic stabilization here. The video results from the X100 Pro definitely gave me real confidence to shoot content with. With the output showing color accuracy and optimal brightness. However, I did notice the camera struggling with capturing action shots, and audio output was not always the best from the primary camera. The selfie camera on the X100 Pro is a 32 MP shooter that can record videos up to 1080P at 30FPS. The selfie camera is where the X100 Pro falters a bit, with the camera slapping an AI filter on top smoothing out the skin. You can turn it off, and there will be a significant shift that you will notice right away. The skintones then are generally accurate and the dynamic range is alright. Videos from the front camera are good enough if you want to vlog with the camera, however the size of the smartphone might discourage you to shoot with it the entire day. However, as an overall media device, the X100 Pro wins big thanks to the plethora of camera options and a battery to support it. Now that we have covered the camera aspect of it, it’s time to cover other aspects. It sports a glass sandwich design, with commendable weight distribution that makes the smartphone easier to hold. This is further elevated by the curved screen design that we get here. The build quality is also commendable since it comes with IP68 water resistant rating. I would like to point out though, that it is in fact a big phone, and if you have small hands then you will take time to adjust to it. At the bottom we have the type-C port along with the speaker grill and SIM card slots. The X100 Pro supports 2 nano SIMs. The variant available in India will be the Asteroid Black which is also the one I reviewed. It has a matte finish on the back which avoids finger prints. The feature is making a comeback lately, it's a welcoming addition and definitely useful in more cases than one. The back as I mentioned in the camera section features a massive camera module that takes up half the space. It is also protruding significantly, which is a small give away for the camera performance we experience here. I also like the ring around the module which gives a vintage look to the smartphone.The flash placement is fresh at the top right which is becoming common as the sensor size grows bigger in cameras. We also observed this in the OnePlus Fold. Display The X100 Pro features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 3000 nits of peak brightness and 120Hz of max refresh rate. As one would expect this display is of flagship caliber. I have used the X100 Pro for almost a month now as my primary driver, and my experience has been generally favorable. I am one of the majority of people who like watching content on their smartphones, and that's what I have done here as well. The X100 Pro is a perfect companion for watching content since it supports HD content across platforms. I have been binge watching What If Season 2 on Disney Plus Hotstar as I type this. The animated show looks brilliant on the display with spot on HDR and no white noise. The projection is crisp and it remains so across platforms. It doesn’t support Dolby vision which generally doesn’t make a difference in real time. However its surprising that we don’t see it on a flagship device. I also read content on my smartphone and the big 6.7-inch display with 120Hz of max refresh rate comes in handy to scroll through the web pages. I tried using the smart switch here, which works decently. However I prefer to use the maxed out refresh rate since it doesn’t really affect the battery and delivers a smoother experience. The refresh rate of course comes in handy while playing games as well. I have been playing Genshin Impact &amp; COD Mobile regularly here and the experience is top notch. With no jitter or lag. Auto brightness is one aspect which I feel Vivo can work on since I did find myself manually shifting the brightness more often than not. Especially indoors. You also have an always on display here which also has a healthy option for widgets for you to tap into. The display is paired with a fairly loud dual speaker set-up which is sufficient for you to enjoy your content. Software Vivo X100 Pro runs on Android 14 out of the box with Vivo’s Fun OS skin. Right off the bat what Vivo gets right here is not including any bloatware. I mention this because sometimes we see 3rd party apps sneaking into flagship devices as well these days. The experience of using the X100 Pro is familiar yet fresh. The UI is easy to understand with the addition of usual Android add-ons. We have the familiar placement of the drop down menu and shortcuts like three finger swipe for screenshot. You also have add on features in the sound department like you can set the sound for different apps. This adds to the customisation aspect of the smartphone. Vivo is also promising 3 years Android updates and 4 years of security updates on the X100 Pro. Performance The Vivo X100 Pro is powered by Mediatek Dimensity 9300 SoC. This is my first bout with the Mediatek SoC, but since I have experienced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 already I have a point of reference. The flagship processor has so far been at top of its game in my everyday experience. The smartphone is snappy to use with no lag as of yet. The applications boot up quickly and switching between windows has been a piece of cake. I have maxed out the settings on all the games that I have tested and the performance is streamlined. The consistency is impressive in terms of managing heat and delivering HD graphics. For reference I also ran a Geekbench 6 test on the smartphone. The single-core score is 2181 while the multi-core score is 7263. These are respectable numbers and in range with what you expect from a flagship smartphone. The variant with me packs in 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This is also the only variant being introduced in India. While I feel the 1TB variant should have been launched as well, I understand that could have been an overkill for most people. This spec sheet is apt for most buyers giving enough storage for your applications and images. There is also a RAM boost feature which adds another 16GB to the mix however I really don’t see any use of it. The 16GB base RAM is more than enough to handle heavy tasks. The smartphone runs on a 5400 mAh battery that supports 100W of Flash charging. The smartphone doesn’t take more than 35 minutes to charge from 0-100% making it efficient. The average screen on time during my testing has been in the range of 7 hours, again a number which is flagship worthy. Verdict The X100 Pro not only delivers on its promise of providing a solid camera but also manages to impress in other aspects. You can expect impressive battery performance, stellar display, intuitive UI all put together with the most impressive camera I have seen on a Vivo smartphone. If optics is your top priority and you don't want any compromises, then X100 Pro should definitely be in your list.

The textured AG glass on the back makes it easy to grip though. Although it is not my usual recommendation, using the V27 Pro without a cover can be enjoyable. Although the smartphone has an impressive design and aesthetic appeal, it lacks certain certifications typically expected in modern devices. For instance, it lacks an official IP rating, making it vulnerable to water damage. The panel measures 6.78 inches and features a gentle 3D `curve at the edges, with a small cut-out for the front-facing camera located at the top. The bezels surrounding the screen are also thin which looks good. In terms of technical specifications, the AMOLED display offers a resolution of 2400×1080 (FHD+). At first, I noticed that the colours on the curved panel appeared somewhat dull with the default settings. However, after tweaking the display settings, I discovered the ideal balance to suit my personal preference. From that point on, the curved panel delivered sharp, accurate, and vivid colours. The display is capable of a peak refresh rate of 120Hz and includes an adaptive refresh rate feature called Smart Switch. I would recommend sticking with the 120Hz setting for the best experience. While it may consume more battery power, it's worth for the overall smoothness and reliability, especially when gaming. I've extensively tested the V27 Pro while gaming and the display have been dependable so far. The display is also compatible with HDR10+ content on Netflix. I watched a few movies and TV series and was thoroughly impressed. The display produced excellent clarity, and I could distinguish crisp details. During my gaming session, which involved playing COD: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends with maximum graphics settings, the device performed well. I did not experience any lag or frame drops that could ruin the gaming experience. The device was very responsive and connected to the servers instantly. Vivo V27 Pro Review: Capable camera performance in a sleek form factor

In a move that will completely overhaul the criminal <keyword id="20453941" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="justice-system" source="keywords">justice system</keyword> in the country, three <keyword id="19911889" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="new" source="keywords">new</keyword> <keyword id="19911888" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="criminal-laws" source="keywords">criminal laws</keyword> will come into effect from today, July 1. The <keyword id="19899463" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Nyaya-Sanhita" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita">Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita</keyword> (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), passed in Parliament last December, will replace the <keyword id="19898811" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Penal-Code" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Indian Penal Code" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Indian Penal Code">Indian Penal Code</keyword> (IPC), 1860, the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), 1973, and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 respectively. Several new provisions have been incorporated in the three new criminal laws to suit contemporary times and technologies in vogue. The three new laws received Parliament's nod on December 21, 2023. President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent on December 25, 2023, and was published in the official gazette on the same day. As per the notification, the three laws will focus on justice rather than punishment and are aimed at providing speedy justice, all the way, strengthening the judicial and court management system emphasising 'access to justice by all'. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita will have 358 sections (instead of 511 sections in the IPC). A total of 20 new crimes have been added to the bill, and the imprisonment sentence has been increased for 33 of them. The amount of the fine has been increased in 83 crimes and mandatory minimum punishment has been introduced in 23 crimes. The penalty of community service has been introduced for six crimes and 19 sections have been repealed or removed from the bill. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has introduced a new chapter titled 'Crimes against Women and Children' to deal with sexual crimes. Provisions related to the gang rape of a minor woman will become consistent with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), and a provision has been made for life imprisonment or death penalty in the case of girls below 18 years of age. There is the provision of 20 years imprisonment or life imprisonment in all cases of gang rape and the new crime category of gang rape of a woman under 18 years of age in the Sanhita. The Sanhita provides targeted penalties for persons fraudulently engaging in sexual intercourse or promising to marry without true intention to marry. Terrorism has been defined for the first time in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and it has been made a punishable offence. The new provisions include armed rebellion, subversive activities, separatist activities or any act threatening the sovereignty or unity and integrity of India. Small organized crimes have also been criminalized, punishable with imprisonment of up to seven years. Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita will have 531 sections (in place of 484 sections of CrPC). A total of 177 provisions have been changed in the bill, and nine new sections as well as 39 new sub-sections have been added to it. The draft act has added 44 new provisions and clarifications. Timelines have been added to 35 sections and audio-video provision has been added at 35 places. A total of 14 sections have been repealed and removed in the Sanhita. The timeline has been added to 35 sections of Bharatiya Nagrik Sukraksha Sanhita, which will make the speedy delivery of justice possible. The Bill prescribes a time limit for initiation of criminal proceedings, arrest, investigation, charge sheet, proceedings before magistrate, cognizance, charges, plea bargaining, appointment of Assistant Public Prosecutor, trial, bail, judgment and punishment, and mercy petition. Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam will have 170 provisions (instead of the original 167 provisions, and a total of 24 provisions have been changed. Two new provisions and six sub-provisions have been added and six provisions have been repealed or deleted in the Adhiniyam. The complete implementation of new criminal laws will ensure an end to 'tareekh pe tareekh' era and justice will be given in three years as earlier informed in the Parliament by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This process of reform in the three laws of the criminal justice system was started in 2019 and 3,200 suggestions in this regard were received from various stakeholders. Speaking on the three new laws on June 29, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the three laws of the British era that were governing the Indian Judicial system have been changed on the concept of delivering speedy justice. Several legal experts say there are big challenges ahead for law-enforcing agencies, judicial officers, and legal professionals as the new laws come into force. The passing of the three criminal law bills in Parliament last year sparked a series of debates regarding the need to take such steps towards evolution in the field of law with the introduction of new criminal laws. "The way the government rushed to bring these laws in Parliament and the way it implemented rushed to, is not desirable in a democracy. These laws were neither adequately discussed in the Parliament committee nor extensively discussed in the House, even no consultation held with the stakeholders," former Union Law Minister and Congress leader Ashwini Kumar told ANI. "Now, the opposition parties demanding a change in the legal architecture of criminal laws should be preceded by meaningful deliberations between all the stakeholders that appears not to have been done. It is the only grievance of the opposition parties that should be addressed by the ruling party," he added. "In the New Criminal Laws, law enforcement agencies have been given unfettered powers without checks and balances and safeguards and safety provisions have been ignored, which will be prone to misuse. Under the New Criminal Laws, there will be potential violations of civil liberties," Advocate Sumit Gehlot told ANI. He said that Sedition Law under Section 150 of BNS, the offence has been made Draconian adding that the insertion of the Sedition Law as a backdoor entry seems to be for political reasons. "Section 150 will surely be challenged, as will other provisions, which will result in being struck down by constitutional courts. Why is terrorism inserted as a general penal law offence when it is already punishable under special legislation? Why has police custody been extended from 15 days to 90 days?" he asked. "The three laws were passed in a hurry and at a time when 25% of the members of Lok Sabha were suspended and had no opportunity to participate in the debate. More consultation with various stakeholders would have allowed the Government to rectify some of the deficiencies, which are now becoming a cause of concern," Former Union Law Secretary PK Malhotra said. Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, NS Nappinai said that the new criminal laws are here to stay and the sooner we adapt to it, the better. "Resistance to change is natural but it can only be assuaged through transparency and effective implementation. For this reason, the shortening of the initial timeline proposed for implementation appears to be a bit of a hasty act. The changes to the procedural aspect in particular needed more time for effective adaptation. One can only hope that an escalated process has been adapted to bring the system to speed," she said. Taking a step ahead, the Delhi Police on January 17 this year, commenced a focused training program for its officers to adapt to the new criminal laws. Per usual for a Xiaomi phone, it appears to pack powerful hardware at a relatively affordable price.More specifically, the Mi 6 runs on a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-835-quick-charge-2016-11" target="_blank">Snapdragon 835 chip</a> - the latest entry in Qualcomm's line of mobile processors, which recently debuted with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-review-2017-4" target="_blank">Samsung's Galaxy S8 phone</a> - along with a healthy 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space by default. (There's an option with 128 GB of storage, too.)Like many <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-7-dual-camera-bokeh-2016-9" target="_blank">recent high-end phones</a>, there's also a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back. A decent-sized 3,350 mAh battery, stereo speakers, and USB-C charging port round out the spec sheet.XiaomiIt all points to a phone that should be competitive, performance wise, with the highest-end Android phones of the year. The kicker, though, is that it'll cost half as much: Xiaomi says the entry-level Mi 6 will start at 2,499 yuan (about $365) when it goes on sale on April 28, while the higher-storage model will cost 2,899 yuan (about $420). There'll also be a model with a flashier ceramic back panel for 2,999 yuan (about $435).
