<keyword id="46436" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rec" source="Orion">REC</keyword> Ltd has been accorded the status of a 'Maharatna' central public sector enterprise (<keyword id="175867" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="cpse" source="Orion">CPSE</keyword>), thus giving it greater operational and financial autonomy. An order to this effect was issued by the Department of Public Enterprises, under the Ministry of Finance, on Wednesday. Incorporated in 1969, REC is a non-banking finance company (NBFC), focussing on power sector financing and development across <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. It comes under the aegis of Power Ministry. The granting of 'Maharatna' status to REC will impart enhanced powers to the company's board while taking financial decisions, a company statement said. The board of a 'Maharatna' CPSE can make equity investments to undertake financial joint ventures and wholly-owned subsidiaries and undertake mergers and acquisitions in India and abroad, subject to a ceiling of 15 per cent of the net worth of the CPSE concerned, limited to Rs 5,000 crore in one project. The board can also structure and implement schemes relating to personnel and human resource management and training. With this, REC can also enter into technology joint ventures or other strategic alliances among others. Chairman and Managing Director of REC, <keyword id="765" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vivek" source="Orion">Vivek</keyword> <keyword id="15053160" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kumar-dewangan" source="Orion">Kumar Dewangan</keyword> said that REC achieved this feat owing to its adaptability, resilience and consistent performance even during the global Covid-19 pandemic. "In FY22, REC made its highest ever net profit of Rs 10,046 crore and reached a net worth of Rs 50,986 crore, owing to its cost-effective resource management and strong financial policies," he said. REC (earlier known as <keyword id="64468" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rural-electrification-corporation" source="Orion">Rural Electrification Corporation</keyword>) has contributed towards achieving village and household electrification in the country. <ul><li>The Isobar-Ipsos #MeetTheZ Survey tries to decode the spending, shopping habits of <keyword id="159493" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gen-Z">Gen Z</keyword>, and talks about this generation's priorities, in terms of career choices etc. </li><li>The survery reveals that at least 55% of the generation say their life runs on technology and spend an average of 8 hours everyday online.</li><li>It also states that 73% of those polled are keen to pursue unconventional career paths and 80% are willing to put their heart and soul into achieving their career goals. </li></ul>Centennials (first generation in the new century) or Generation Z have carved a niche for themselves and are inspiring the preceding generations in the process, as they strut forward with elan, juggling all areas with dexterity, according to the Isobar-Ipsos #MeetTheZ Survey. And technology is an intrinsic part of their lives. According to the survey, this tech savvy generation perceives technology as the means to information and empowerment. At least 55% say their life runs on technology - 66% believe tech helps them gain experience and acquire new skills. Interestingly, across various activities, this generation spends an average of at least 8 hours per day, online. “The new breed of youngsters (Generation Z) – born between 1995-2015 – is pragmatic in every possible way, true role models for older generations – they know what they want and know how to get it. Tech savvy, clear headed, confident, outgoing, valuing close bond with family, this generation embodies traits, which every parent has dreamt, for their kids to possess,” says <keyword id="119242" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vivek-Gupta">Vivek Gupta</keyword>, Managing Director, Innovation, <keyword id="233968" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ipsos">Ipsos</keyword> India. <keyword id="1396225" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gopa-Kumar">Gopa Kumar</keyword>, Chief Operating Officer, <keyword id="2780191" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Isobar">Isobar</keyword> India felt it was imperative to understand the cohort of Generation Z, as there was a lack of empirical data which provided insights into their motivations and aspirations. “Interestingly, Generation Z does not portray the conventional stereotype – if they are digital natives, they also yearn for and prioritize offline connections. They are constantly on the lookout for authenticity and purpose when they are engaging with brands. In fact, they have an informed view of the transformative impact of technology at work and play.” This generation understands the dichotomy of Social Media – 64% believe it aids in reconnecting with long lost friends; 43% find it limiting in its scope for personal relationships. Ambitious, at their pace Generation Z is realistically ambitious, and the study shows that at least 73% of those polled are keen to pursue unconventional career paths and 80% of them are willing to put their heart and soul into achieving their career goals. So technically, if 43% aspire for a successful career, 35% aspire to possess a lot of money; while 31% care foremost about staying fit and healthy. Closely knit family ties; active socially The study highlights the paradox about Generation Z – on one hand they are home bodies, consciously spending time with parents, with at least 51% of them consuming all meals with parents, at home, at the same time they are highly gregarious, like to hang out actively with friends (29%) at least once a week, 50% stay over with friends at least once a month. Parents are the anchor in their lives and at least 78% of Gen Z polled claims their parents give them independence and personal space. Contemporary view on relationships Generation Z realizes that some relationships may not be for the long haul, 70% reject a limiting relationship, while 66% are accepting of relationships not moving to permanence. They are easy going when it comes to forging personal ties and don’t drain themselves emotionally. We found they are in different modes - 14% of those in a relationship want it to culminate in marriage, 22% of those in a relationship are not in the marriage mode just yet, 22% singles are actively seeking out partners and 41% are happily single and are in no rush to get into a relationship, just yet. Disciplined Eaters; prefer home cooked food Generation Z have strong traits of retrosexuals when it comes to eating habits – they are self-proclaimed disciplinarians and choose healthy eating habits with a strong emphasis on a balanced diet. In fact, 1 in 2 have a specified diet plan, they adhere to. Sometimes alternating between intermittent fasting (20%), the zone diet (18%) and keto diet (15%). And despite a plethora of food options to choose from, at least 62% prefer home cooked meals. Shopping Habits; make the most of phygital Generation Z is truly discerning and busts several myths – they are fashion aware but will not blindly adopt, at least 78% will personalize to look good; and 79% will make their own fashion statement to stand out. Being digital natives, notwithstanding, there is a strong affinity for brick and mortar shops – 79% will shop both offline and online 20% shop only offline. Indians love labels, but Generation Z will not splurge on big brands unless they are convinced that they are getting their monies worth. At the same time, 77% claim they thoroughly research before deciding the purchase. And 26% will choose the fastest option of buying only if they are strapped for time. And brands actively seeking to connect with Generation Z, please note, this cohort respects and adopts socially responsible brands – 69% claim to like brands that collaborate with local artisans and 68% want to be associated with brands supporting social causes.

The details emerged from an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=RTI&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">RTI</a> query filed by <keyword id="193039" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vivek-Garg">Vivek Garg</keyword> who sought to know how much the Delhi ministers spend on tea and snacks. Leading the pack is <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword>, who drew up a cumulative bill of Rs 47.29 lakhs which includes Rs 22,42,320 spent at the secretariat office and Rs 24,86,921 spent at his residence camp office. It goes without saying that Kejriwal seems to have left his hunger strike days way way behind. 
 
Following him is Deputy Chief Minister <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=manish+sisodia&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Manish Sisodia</a> who spent a total of Rs 11.28 lakhs on refreshments. 
 
 
Ex-transport minister Gopal Rai who was fired for allegations of corruption was not one to be left behind. As it turns out, he too raked up a bill of over TRs 11 lakh. 
 Then there is <keyword id="6367909" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sandeep-Kumar">Sandeep Kumar</keyword>, the ex-social welfare minister who was recently sacked and is in the midst of a sexual assault allegation. Kumar spent over Rs 9 lakh on tea and snacks, while Health Minister <keyword id="6378951" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satyendra-Jain">Satyendra Jain</keyword> also used up Rs 9.1 lakh. Last, but not the least, Tourism Minister <keyword id="6381732" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kapil-Mishra">Kapil Mishra</keyword> spent over Rs 6 lakh and <keyword id="339091" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Imran-Hussain">Imran Hussain</keyword>, the Food and Civil Supply Minister spent a little over Rs 5 lakh on snacks. 
 
Picking up the tab for all of them is none but us-the taxpayers.

But those who expected to find a superb <keyword id="2437016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Thriller-erotica">thriller-erotica</keyword> in <keyword id="2296101" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Pandya">Vishal Pandya</keyword>’s <keyword id="753788" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hate-Story">Hate Story</keyword> 2 could be disappointed – neither the sizzle, nor the thrill matched the earlier Hate Story (a 2012 film directed by <keyword id="30014" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vivek-Agnihotri">Vivek Agnihotri</keyword> and starring <keyword id="455333" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Paoli-Dam">Paoli Dam</keyword>, Gulshan Devaiah and <keyword id="8255" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nikhil-Dwivedi">Nikhil Dwivedi</keyword>). In spite of some spirited acting by <keyword id="22533" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Surveen-Chawla">Surveen Chawla</keyword> and <keyword id="21678" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="sushant-singh">Sushant Singh</keyword>, the current movie turned out to be a mediocre <keyword id="1321184" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="revenge-drama">revenge drama</keyword> with lots of skin show, but still managed to do amazingly well at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword>. Produced by <keyword id="24468" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhushan-Kumar">Bhushan Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="15260" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="vikram-bhatt">Vikram Bhatt</keyword>, Hate Story 2 netted Rs 5.46 crore on the opening Friday (trade figure stood at Rs 4.61 crore) and went on to collect Rs 15.85 crore nett in the first three days (trade figure was Rs 14.30 crore). But there was the usual Monday drop and the movie collected around Rs 2.68 crore on the fourth day (trade figure was Rs 2.11 crore), thus netting a total of Rs 18.53 crore after Day 4. 
 
Hate Story 2 hit 600 screens across the country but thanks to the fantastic business it is doing, the distributors now want it to be released in 1,200 screens pan-India, as per media reports. The opening weekend collections of Hate Story 2 were bigger than some A-list movies, including <keyword id="6377522" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="queen">Queen</keyword>, Highway and Dedh Ishqiya, and the 15th highest in 2014. It had a budget of Rs 14 crore (cost and P&amp;A), which means the flick is making profits. Interestingly, the official trailer of Hate Story 2 crossed over 4 million views on <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> within four days of its launch, but if you ask us, it’s a total put-off in many ways in spite of earning more than the other three releases. 
 
In stark contrast, Vir Das-Vega Tamotia-Anindita Nayar-starrer <keyword id="2336494" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amit-Sahni">Amit Sahni</keyword> Ki List turns out to be a refreshing <keyword id="1636016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="rom-com">rom-com</keyword> with loads of laughter and some pertinent points about relationships. But <keyword id="664154" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ajay-Bhuyan">Ajay Bhuyan</keyword>’s directorial endeavour failed to win hearts, netting a little over Rs 3.1 crore at home after the first Monday. Pizza 3D, a remake of the 2012 Tamil <keyword id="828468" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Supernatural">supernatural</keyword> thriller, came loaded with terror bytes but earned around Rs 2.87 crore nett in the first three days. Critically speaking, Amit Sahni Ki List still tops the list in spite of the box office debacle and the shoddy treatment of an intriguing script. Here we meet Amit Sahni (<keyword id="671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vir-das">Vir Das</keyword>), an <keyword id="140092" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="investment-banker">investment banker</keyword> trying to find the perfect relationship and not get hurt in the process. His serio-comic vulnerability reminds one of the young gang from Dil Chahta Hai and the carefully made check list of partner’s qualities once again makes us realise life does not follow a perfect script in spite of all our efforts. But the movie loses pace in-between, loses coherence and a drab ending ultimately mars the freshness. 
 Directed by debutant <keyword id="2174779" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Akkineni">Akshay Akkineni</keyword>, Pizza 3D captures the paranormal experiences of Kunal (<keyword id="480238" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Oberoi">Akshay Oberoi</keyword>), a <keyword id="1079002" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="pizza-delivery-boy">pizza delivery boy</keyword> married to the <keyword id="2437008" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="horror-thriller-writer">horror thriller writer</keyword> <keyword id="741" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nikita">Nikita</keyword> (<keyword id="12341" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Parvathy-Omanakuttan">Parvathy Omanakuttan</keyword>). What follows is a terror fest, with loads of twists and turns, leading to a climax that is spooky enough to please horror fans. However, the 3D effects did not add much to the terror elements.

	The two projects comprise of a coal to poly-generation (CTP) project and a rice bran solvent extraction plant and refinery, it added. 
 

	A poly-generation plant is one that simultaneously produces two or more marketable products. 
 The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Chhattisgarh Industry Secretary <keyword id="865976" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Subodh-Kumar-Singh">Subodh Kumar Singh</keyword> on behalf of the state and <keyword id="249165" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajesh-Jha">Rajesh Jha</keyword> and K S Varshney from the <keyword id="6367820" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Adani-Group">Adani Group</keyword>, the statement said. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister <keyword id="65641" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raman-Singh">Raman Singh</keyword>, Industry Minister Amar Agrawal, Chief Secretary Vivek Dhandh and <keyword id="118623" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Adani-Enterprises">Adani Enterprises</keyword> Managing Director <keyword id="118610" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajesh-Adani">Rajesh Adani</keyword>, it added. 

	The first project to be set up is a CTP project that includes an Ammonia/Urea and Substitute Natural Gas (SNG) complex via gasification of Indian high ash coal sourced from within the state, it said. 
 

	The project cost is estimated to be over Rs 25,000 crore and includes coal to urea, coal to SNG plant as well as coal-based thermal power plant. It has a potential to generate 5,000 jobs in Chhattisgarh, it added. 
 

	The proposed CTP project of Adani Enterprises is being set up for the first time in India, based on coal to synthetic energy, Adani Group said. 
 

	The second project comprises of setting up a rice bran solvent extraction plant and a physical refinery packing plant at Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh. 
 

	The project cost is estimated to be around Rs 200 crore and has the potential to generate more than 600 jobs in the state. 
 Adani Enterprises shares today breached the lower circuit at Rs 73.80 and closed at Rs 71.25 apiece, down by 13.11 per cent, on a day the benchmark <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> closed 1,624.51 points down at 25,741.56 - its biggest ever fall.

AMD reported revenue increasing 18% year over year in its <a target="_blank" href="https://ir.amd.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/1224/amd-reports-third-quarter-2024-financial-results">third quarter,</a> primarily due to data center sales and an increase in Instinct GPU and EPYC CPU sales.At the same time, analysts raised concerns about the delay in AMD's GPU offerings. Earlier this month, AMD announced that its new generation MI325X accelerator chip will begin production shipments later this year and more widespread ability in early 2025. It also plans to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amd-latest-gpu-still-lags-behind-nvidia-2024-10">release MI350</a> next year to compete with Nvidia's highly anticipated <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jensen-huang-tsmc-helped-fix-design-flaw-with-nvidias-blackwell-2024-10">Blackwell chip</a>, which is expected to start shipping earlier than AMD in the fourth quarter of 2024. Although AMD's earnings performed around the levels predicted by Wall Street analysts, stock prices dipped <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/chipmakers-amd-smci-super-micro-stock-auditor-earnings-report-guidance-2024-10">as much as 10%</a> Wednesday, reflecting investors' disappointment. Vivek Arya, a Bank of America Securities analyst, asked on the earnings call about how its chips are "kind of one year behind the industry leader.""Can you really gain share until that gap is closed?" he asked.Su responded that AMD's road map "actually closed a good part of that gap" with Nvidia's products and that AMD holds an advantage in data center retrofitting."I think MI325 is a great product. It's going to compete very well with H200, and the MI350 series will compete very well with Blackwell," Su said on the call.When asked by Piper Sandler semiconductor analyst Harsh Kumar about what is hindering AMD from becoming a bigger GPU market player compared to Nvidia, Su said that acquiring the total addressable market takes time. Developing chips with more processing capacity can also take <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-ai-chip-production-manufacturing-nvidia-labor-china-taiwan-korea-2024-4">years </a>of design and testing."We've had an extremely good product even back in the ROM days," Su said. "But it does take time to ensure that trust is built, there is familiarity with the product."Analysts said that while AMD got a later start in GPUs than Nvidia, it is still slowly chipping away at its ground in the AI boom. "As much as we still believe NVDA will be hard to shake from its 80-85% AI share, AMD still has done an enviable job from virtually zero to ~5% market share," Arya wrote in a note released on Wednesday. Even if this share remains unchanged, the underlying AI growth will still provide AMD "the chance to participate," he added.Morgan Stanley also bumped up its estimates of AMD's growth for the next quarter to $8 billion, although its analysts raised concerns about customer usage. AMD's customers include Microsoft, Meta, and Google."Our checks continue to show several customers that are committed to using AMD architecture, but actual usage still seems relatively small," Stanley's equity analysts wrote.
