<keyword id="6354756" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bcci" source="Orion">BCCI</keyword>'s chief selector <keyword id="191692" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chetan-Sharma" source="Orion">Chetan Sharma</keyword> has resigned from his post following a sting operation conducted by a TV news channel, where he shared internal information about the team and selection process, sources told IANS. According to sources, he sent his resignation to BCCI Secretary <keyword id="210899" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jay-shah" source="Orion">Jay Shah</keyword> who accepted it. Earlier, in a sting operation, the 57-year-old was heard saying that Indian players have their own doctors outside of cricket, who are always available for them. "If they are fit for only 85%... they tell us to let them play but medical science doesn't clear them, this problem comes...the player wants to play, the player never refuses. But Like Bumrah, he was not even able to bow down then what will he do.. One or two such major injuries happen. "Otherwise even at 80%, these people...they are such scoundrels, they will silently go to the corner and take an injection and say that they are fit," Sharma allegedly said during a sting operation. The chief selector also reportedly revealed that there was a huge clash of ego between former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, which eventually led to the right-hander batter's ouster as the captain. "When the player becomes a little big, he feels that he has become very big.. He has become bigger than the board. Then he feels that No one can do anything to him. He can't even bend my hair. Without me, cricket will stop in India. Has it ever happened? Many big ones came and went. Cricket remains the same. So, he tried to hit the President at that time," he was quoted as saying. "He (Virat) said... Sourav Ganguly had never said this to me (about re-considering the captaincy role). So it became a big issue. Either the President lied, or Virat is telling the truth. It became a big issue... then there was an uproar." BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma resigns, as per sources

<keyword id="6355164" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ICC">ICC</keyword> Chairman <keyword id="6379537" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shashank-Manohar">Shashank Manohar</keyword> has resigned from his post citing personal reasons. While the tenure was of two years, he held the position only for nearly eight months. 
 
The 59-year-old mailed his resignation letter to ICC CEO Dave Richardson, and did not clarify the exact reason behind the decision.

 However, as per sources, he took the decision since <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> now holds enough authority to block the constitutional and financial reforms that were set to be passed by the ICC at its next board meeting.

To be passed, a reform needs 2/3rd majority but <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Supreme-Court-says-Indias-cricket-board-cannot-disburse-funds-order-for-independent-auditor/articleshow/54972937.cms">BCCI</a> seems to have brought Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on its side, which probably led Manohar to resign, expecting a loss of face.

"I was elected unopposed as the first independent Chairman of ICC last year. I have tried to do my best and have tried to be fair and impartial in deciding matters in the functioning of the Board and in matters related to Member Boards along with the able support of all Directors," said Manohar’s resignation letter. 
 
"However, for personal reasons it is not possible for me to hold the august office of ICC Chairman and hence I am tendering my resignation as Chairman with immediate effect. 
 
"I take this opportunity to thank all the Directors, the Management and staff of ICC for supporting me wholeheartedly. I wish ICC all the very best and hope it achieves greater heights," he concluded.

Shashank Manohar resigns from ICC citing personal reasons

Dhoni revealed that he would be stepping down as the <keyword id="3203919" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="captain-of-the-Indian-cricket-team">captain of the Indian cricket team</keyword> from the ODI and the T20 formats of the game and would be available for selection for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against England.

“We give it back even better,” says Kohli on series win

England's continuation of winning every session stretched into the fourth day with India struggling to save the third Test at the Ageas Bowl. For India, though, there was scant change in fortunes from day three: like in the first innings, India went into stumps in a precarious situation, well set batsmen failed to push on and <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/moeen-ali/3001/3153">Moeen Ali</a> had two wickets. India needed to bat out 90 overs with the 445-run target seemingly out of reach after closing the day on 112 for 4, 333 behind.

 Cheteshwar Pujara hadn't converted any of his previous starts, and the introduction of Moeen into the attack didn't allow him one this time, his loose drive taking an edge which Chris Jordan brilliantly hung on to at first slip. Another 50-run partnership followed, this time between Dhawan and <keyword id="6354486" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Virat-Kohli">Virat Kohli</keyword>, but the curse of the part-time spinner continued to lurk and both fell to similar dismissals. Dhawan was drawn into a drive on 37 that found the outside edge of his bat, while Kohli nicked behind to Jos Buttler for 28. 
 England needed quick runs on the board after choosing not to enforce the follow-on, but Sam Robson was out early to <keyword id="479464" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bhuvneshwar-Kumar">Bhuvneshwar Kumar</keyword> for 13 as Dhawan held on to a catch at first slip, but Dhoni's decision to bring on the part-time spinners indicated resignation as the hosts ran away with the advantage.

Bell was bowled round his stumps as Jadeja got one to turn in from the rough and Root suffered the same fate, but his sixth Test half-century had meant England had opened up a 444-run lead, enough to sound the declaration. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/james-anderson/3001/3040">James Anderson's</a> short ball ploy had earlier resulted in the wickets of overnight batsmen MS Dhoni and Mohammed Shami as he finished with 5 for 53 on his 32nd birthday, his 16th five-wicket haul in Test cricket and third against India as they made short work of India's first innings. While Dhoni was out fending an Anderson short ball without adding to his overnight 50, Mohammed Shami's dismissal was a mirror image of Cheteshwar Pujara's wicket on the third day, and India could only add seven more runs to their total. 
 
India's bowlers came out hoping they didn't let England get away with too many, they found little help from either the surface or the bowlers. After Robson's wicket, Bhuvneshwar was caned for 59 from his 10 overs while Shami bowled just four, sounding alarms over his place in the fourth Test.

Decoding Rahul Dravid’s rising popularity among brands

When the cricketer Dhoni is in distress, the brand Dhoni can’t escape the impact. Recently, Justice Lodha committee banned two teams–Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Indian ODI skipper, MS Dhoni being a part of CSK was close to the team owner. 
 
But would this banning affect the image of Dhoni? 
 
Dhoni has retired from Test cricket and his latest performance as ODI captain was poor, as per a news report by The Economic Times. 
 
Yet, Dhoni endorses 18 brands, many of them major like Pepsi, Reebok, TVS, Boost and Star Sports. His reported endorsement fees, say industry observers, is between Rs 10 crore and Rs 12 crore per brand, higher than that commanded by India test captain Virat Kohli. 
 
Forbes had listed him as the world's fifth most valuable sportsperson brand in 2014 as the world's fifth most valuable sportsperson brand, valued at $ 20 million. And only last week, he was named as the world's ninth most marketable in a study by London School of Marketing, the ET report confirms. 
 
Corporate executives (CXOs) and experts ET spoke to said although the lack of marketeable cricketers means Dhoni's brand will retain some pull, endorsement rates can get lower when contracts are renewed. Rates may come down by as much as 25% to 30%. 
 
ET spoke to a dozen major brands endorsed by Dhoni. PepsiCo, Reebok and Glaxo SmithKline, the manufacturers of Boost, did not comment on the matter. Questions sent to Orient Electric, Ashok Leyland, Gulf Oil and Star Sports were not answered. But off record, some CXOs closely involved with marketing Dhoni for their companies were of the view that the once shining brand is starting to lose its sheen. 
 
The chief executive of a major brand Dhoni endorses said the cricketer is certainly losing his brand value. "He's not playing Tests and that impacts his valuation. 
 
The fact that he's closely associated with N Srinivasan is cause for discomfort as well," a CEO told a financial daily. "The lack of marketeable criketers means that our contract will continue", the top executive said, "but we will negotiate lower endorsement terms". 
 
"Dhoni's brand value will go down by 50% after this (the CSK team suspension). The fact that he's associated with India Cements is a huge setback. His continued silence hasn't helped either," Shailendra Singh, joint managing director of sports and media entertainment firm Percept told the ET. 
 
He added that Dhoni's cricket career has been on the decline. "The fact that he resigned from Test cricket in the middle of a series too hasn't gone down well with brands he's associated with," he said.
