Two low intensity explosions took place early Sunday morning in the technical area of Jammu <keyword id="6354954" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="air-force">Air Force</keyword> Station. Security agencies suspect that drones were used to drop bombs at the Air Force station, however, there was no confirmation from the <keyword id="15141" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> so far. The explosions happened at 2 a.m. Bomb disposal and forensic teams were at the Airport and cordoned off the entire area. Indian Defence Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword>, who is on his way to Ladakh to review operations preparedness of the force, spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal H.S. Arora regarding explosions at the Station. Singh said that Air Marshal <keyword id="12906" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vikram-Singh">Vikram Singh</keyword> is reaching Jammu to take stock of the situation. "One caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area," said Indian Air Force (IAF) in a statement. The force said that there was no damage to any equipment. "Investigation is in progress along with civil agencies," IAF said. Defence ministry PRO, Lt Colonel Devender <keyword id="2648" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anand">Anand</keyword> said, "There were reports of an explosion inside Air Force Station Jammu. There is no injury to any personnel or any damage to any equipment." Security agencies suspect that drones were used to drop bombs at the Air Force station. The security establishments stated that there is suspicion that drones were used to drop IED inside the airport to trigger the blast. They also cited that drones were used to drop weapons in the past as it cannot be detected by radar. Till now, IAF has not yet confirmed that drones were used to drop the bombs.

Delhi CM announces Sharman Joshi-starrer movie 'Fauji Calling'  tax free in Delhi

A 60-kg British-era copper chandelier at the main entrance of 17th century <keyword id="6355354" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Taj-Mahal">Taj Mahal</keyword> crashed down on Wedenesday, sources said. 
 A probe under <keyword id="46215" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ASI">ASI</keyword>'s superintending archaeologist Bhuvan Vikram has been initiated into the matter, they said. 
 
 
Though there was no official word as to what caused the chandelier to fall, the sources said it probably came down due to "aging and wear and tear". 
 
"Luckily, there was no one around or else it would have resulted in a major tragedy," a tourist guide Ved Gautam said. 
 On Thursday, Agra ASI chief <keyword id="3013863" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhuvan-Vikram-Singh">Bhuvan Vikram Singh</keyword> had said that the decision to fix the chandelier would be taken only after carefully examining its structure and its present state. 
 
 
Meanwhile, some tourist guides have accused the ASI officials of "gross negligence" and questioned their expertise in handling the monument's artifacts. 
 
The six-feet high and four-feet wide chandelier was gifted by Lord Curzon and installed at the Royal Gate of Taj Mahal in 1905.

Medical experts in Lucknow said that there have been over a dozen cases where the patients experienced extreme fatigue but did not consult a doctor. When their condition worsened, the blood test showed a drastic drop in platelet count. The patient then developed breathing problems and died without oxygen support. New Delhi, Jun 14 () Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday ordered the immediate transfer of four IAS officers to the Delhi government and attachment of another two from the Centre to help the national capital fight the coronavirus pandemic. The order was issued within hours of a high-level meeting Shah held with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. <keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword> has emerged as the most preferred social media platform among the Indian youth while YouTube garnered most attention amid pandemic, with 98 per cent of those surveyed installed it in their phones followed by <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword> and <keyword id="758541" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime">Amazon Prime</keyword>, a new report said on Friday. Although the survey size was small (1154 respondents), the report by Youth Online Learning Organization (YOLO) said that nearly 80 per cent of the respondents were consuming social media when online. While 70 per cent opted for Instagram, 20 per cent reported <keyword id="6354576" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="facebook">Facebook</keyword> as their first choice. It further brought forward the concerns and challenges of using the Internet which included lack of awareness about the healthy and responsible consumption of the internet. Nearly 30 per cent of those surveyed accepted to have shared <keyword id="128617" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensitive-information">sensitive information</keyword> on the Internet. "The majority of the respondents were non-adult users and had their own smartphones to surf through the net. This shows the power of the internet and its medium and how it can initiate ripples of change if used wisely while targeting the right audience," said Prem Prakash, Co-founder, YOLO. "It is high time for OTT platforms to start using their platform for a good cause and work towards creating a social change via their content". The survey conducted by YOLO along with IGPP (Institute for Governance, Policies &amp; Politics) and Social Media Matters (SMM) found that 75 per cent of the respondents use the Internet for their academic activity, followed by entertainment through video streaming and OTTs. "We request the social media and OTT platforms to pay heed to what floats on their portal because it could lead to an impact, positive or negative, that solely depends on their content," said Vikram Singh, Co-Founder, Social Media Matters. The study found that there is a need to promote awareness and capacity development programmes among youth to promote awareness about safe and healthy Internet usage. "Almost 85 per cent non-adult users have their own phones. More than 49 per cent user spent around 5 hours a day and around 30 per cent used it for more than 6 hours a day. This is alarming and very high usage for the young population," said Dr Manish Tiwari, Senior Fellow, IGPP. Instagram most preferred platform among Indian youth — nearly 30% share sensitive information online

New Delhi, May 5 () The Supreme Court Tuesday refused to entertain a plea seeking quashing of various FIRs registered under an IPC section which deals with disobedience of orders of a public servant and other petty offences during the nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The violation of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) attracts jail term of one month or fine up to Rs 200, or both and if the disobedience causes danger to human life, health or safety, the person can be punished with 6-month jail term and a fine of Rs 1,000 or both. A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, hearing the matter through video-conferencing, asked the counsel appearing for petitioner that if Section 188 of the IPC was not invoked then how the lockdown would be imposed. "You want there should be no FIR?," the bench asked senior lawyer Gopal Sankaranarayanan and advocate Virag Gupta, appearing for petitioner Vikram Singh, who is a former DGP of Uttar Pradesh and the chairman of an NGO 'Centre for Accountability and Systemic Change' (CASC). Sankaranarayanan told the bench, also comprising Justices S K Kaul and B R Gavai, that several FIRs have been registered against migrants and there cannot be a rule of law which is selective. The plea had sought directions under the Disaster Management Act of 2005 to various state governments to refrain from filing complaints and registering FIRs under section 188 or other petty offences during the lockdown period. The NGO had said that as per its research, 848 FIRs under Section 188 of the IPC have been registered in 50 police stations of Delhi alone between March 23 and April 13.It further said the Uttar Pradesh government through its Twitter handle has informed that 15,378 FIRs under the section have been registered in the state against 48,503 persons. "If this is the situation in the national capital and adjoining state then the situation in other parts of the country can very well be imagined," the plea had said, adding, that the registration of FIRs under section 188 of IPC is grossly illegal and antithesis to Rule of Law, and violates Article 14 and 21 of the Constitution. Singh said in the plea that being a retired police officer, he understands the police functioning as well as the pain and suffering of those who are caught in the wheels of criminal justice system."The Petitioner is also concerned with the undue burden on police officers, who will have to do voluminous documentation in all such matters," the plea had said. New Delhi, Mar 21 () In the wake of Covid-19 outbreak, private security industry body CAPSI has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention over the massive job losses of security guards and asked the government to employ private guards to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Terming the situation as "disastrous", the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI), in its letter to the Prime Minister, has urged him to save the livelihood of lakhs of private security guards who are staring at job losses. The closure of malls, showrooms, theatres, hotels etc. have led to a situation wherein the clients are asking to remove large number of security guards from their locations leaving only one guard at these sites. "They (clients) have also made it clear that they will only pay for the drastically reduced strength. Now what happens to the others? Where do the other guards go? Who pays them their salaries for this period," CAPSI Chairman K Vikram Singh said in the letter to the Prime Minister. Over 23,000 private security agencies employ over 85 lakh security guards across India. Singh said this situation will have deep impact on the life of security guards and their families as corporates have issued letters of drastic reduction of staff strength from their establishments and have also refused to pay wages for the period of layoff. Private security industry will now have to pay its workforce without getting paid for by the clients for the duration till normalcy returns. "We have urged the Prime Minister to direct Employees' State Insurance (ESI), Provident Fund (PF) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) Departments to defer their tax collection dates by giving adequate time so that guards can be paid wages to take care of their families," he added. The private security industry is one of the largest employment-providing sectors of the nation and is one of the largest contributor of corporate taxes and social security taxes (GST, PF, ESI, Income Tax etc). These security guards can play an important role in controlling the spread of coronavirus by checking the body temperature of visitors and residents in various locations. COVID-19: Plea in SC for quashing of FIRs lodged under section 188 of IPC during lockdown

New Delhi, Nov 16 () Exhorting private security agencies to adopt modern technologies to expand operations, Union Minister VK Singh on Saturday said private security guards can help government agencies in affairs like traffic management, pollution monitoring and crowd management through use of drones and CCTV operations.
 Minister of State for Road, Transport and Highways, Singh was addressing 'Security Leadership Summit' organised by Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) at PHD Chamber here.
 "Today governments do not have enough resources and manpower to meet daily requirements of general public. Here private security agencies can play a major role, but they need to train their personnel in modern and upcoming technologies to gain trust of government agencies who can delegate them routine works like traffic management, pollution monitoring, crowd management and cyber security," Singh was quoted as saying in a statement issued by CAPSI here.
 The scope is immense for private security agencies to reinvent themselves and prepare for future challenges, Singh added.
 The minister said Indian private security industry needs to tap foreign markets where there is a shortage of manpower like Europe and Gulf nations.
 "There is a global manpower shortage which Indian private security agencies need to tap to expand their business, but for that they should improve and enhance their skills. Improvement in quality and perfection is needed.
 "Industry needs to hire more technically qualified people to upscale skills and preparedness of personnel. Specialised cadres need to be created keeping in mind changing security scenario," he added.
 Speaking at the event, CAPSI Chairman Kunwar Vikram Singh said private security agencies were ready to help government in carrying out day-to-day work needed to make life easier and safer for common man.
 "Our industry is also aware about growing need for private security personnel in foreign markets and we are working on it. A market of 1.5 crore private security personnel abroad is there to tap for us and we are exploring that," he added.
 Singh thanked present Government for timely amendments in the Private Security Agency Regulation (PSARA) Act that has helped streamlining and growth of private security Agency.
 "Under PM Modi, private security industry has seen implementation of various progressive policies and reforms in laws. Our sector is growing at almost 50 per cent. Today private security agencies employs around 90 lakh personnel, making it one of the top employers. We hope to cross 2 crore workforce within next few years," Singh added. NAM LUX MR

Student unions of various parties have said that all sections of society should wait for completion of the <keyword id="6356383" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="JNU">JNU</keyword> inquiry before doing the "character assassination" of the university. This, however, doesn’t mean that they support the anti-national slogans that were raised in the university campus. 
 These unions have asked for the release of JNUSU President <keyword id="3048656" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kanhaiya-Kumar">Kanhaiya Kumar</keyword> and withdrawal of "false charges" against all the university students. 
 These demands have come in a joint press conference released by leaders from All India Students' Association (<keyword id="202881" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aisa">AISA</keyword>) of CPI(ML), All India Students Federation (<keyword id="340585" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="AISF">AISF</keyword>) of CPI, National Students' Union of India (<keyword id="6372948" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSUI">NSUI</keyword>) of Congress, Students Federation of India (<keyword id="6373398" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFI">SFI</keyword>) of CPI(M) and Student Forum For Swaraj (<keyword id="951603" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFS">SFS</keyword>). 
 They also denounced the assault on Left activists, JNU teachers, students and media that was done on February 15 in Patiala court. These attacks were cited as <keyword id="42498" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="RSS">RSS</keyword> and BJP’s attempts to "spread a reign of terror against differing voices". 
 
"We condemn the anti-national slogans that were raised during the event but who did that is a matter of investigation. Let the inquiry takes it course. Do not character assassinate the entire university by branding it as anti-national," SFI general secretary Vikram Singh said. 
 
"If the entire University is anti-national, then its alumini including Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, CBI Director Anil Sinha and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman are also anti-national," NSUI leader Kumar Raja said. 
 
"Slogans cannot be used as an excuse to crackdown on JNU. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of JNUSU President Kanhaiya and the immediate withdrawal of false charges on all JNU students," they said in a joint statement. 
 
The "ongoing assault on JNU is part of a long process by the Modi government to destroy our best educational institutions," the released added. "We are seeing a pattern wherein the Modi government actively intervenes to shove the RSS-BJP agenda down the throats" of the insitutions," they claimed.
