 The events industry has just found its footing in the country. But it is growing fast with more global artistes making their way to the country every year. According to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/media/entertainment/media/events-industry-to-cross-rs-10000-crore-by-fy21-report/articleshow/60454703.cms?from=mdr">reports</a>, the Indian events industry is expected to cross ₹100 billions by 2021. At a Bigger Scale The scale of these events is growing with each passing year. More and more international stars and DJs are signing up to come to India. And these massive events require an integrated company to co-ordinate management. Nine years back, The Production Crew started off as a specialised manpower support to event companies. As they started picking up projects, they spotted a big opportunity. “There was a big scope in the industry where the event manager and the production world weren’t working on the same line. The coming of tech The Indian events industry, especially in the music scene still has a long way to go. “India is more manpower driven, it should be less on manpower and more on technology. We are trying to bring tech into the industry,” said Shetty. Be it the uber-popular Sunburn or the vh1 Supersonic with DJs like Marshmello performance or Disney musicals like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast or the 112-feet Adiyogi statue unveiling with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the company managed it all– from permissions for venues, to understanding stability of the structure, everything. Starry demands “Meeting the expectations of international stars is a huge task. They have experiences with different and more advanced technological products. Here in India, we have to bring multiple partners into the game to deliver a product like that,” said Vikas. From Justin Bieber’s demands in India to Sunburn, meet the crew that manages it all

<keyword id="60468" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Consumers">Consumers</keyword> spent $32 billion on in-app purchases across <keyword id="75489" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IOS">iOS</keyword> and <keyword id="6355629" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> Play globally in Q1 this year, the biggest quarter ever and 40 per cent from the same quarter last year, a new report has revealed. The market grew at unprecedented speed during the Covid-19 pandemic as millions stayed home, and smartphone users spent around $9 billion more on apps and games in Q1 2021 than they did in Q1 2020, according to app analytics firm <keyword id="1646890" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="App-Annie">App Annie</keyword>. The growth in Q1 2021 was shared equally by the two platforms. Consumers spend grew 40 per cent (year-over-year) to $21 billion on iOS, and by the same percentage to around $11 billion on Google Play. "Total downloads also grew significantly. Downloads on both iOS and Google Play combined rose by around 10 per cent to 31 billion in the quarter," the report mentioned. In Q1 2021, gaming proved to be the most influential category in the overall app market. <keyword id="53249" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gamers">Gamers</keyword> downloaded around a billion titles every week in the quarter, while total consumer spend on gaming hit $22 billion. iOS gamers spent the most at $13 billion (up 30 per cent on-year), while gamers spent $9 billion on Google Play (up 35 per cent). In Q1 2021, gamers downloaded around a billion games every week. "This is 15 per cent up on 2020, and 35 per cent up on the weekly average for Q1 2019. Google Play game downloads grew 20 per cent year over year to 11 billion," said App Annie. The quarter's most downloaded game was Supersonic Studio's hyper casual survival game 'Join Clash 3D'. It swapped places with Among Us! at number 2. In 2021, mobile gaming is set to reach $120 billion in consumer spend, 1.5 times all other gaming formats combined, said the report. This vertical will see creation of original fiction and non-fiction content connected to IPs owned by LEC. This move has made the company the first mover in the space of event IPs to produce original content on a solid scale. ‘Event Originals’ will be mainly created for OTT, digital, film and other mainstream platforms. Laqshya Event Capital has joined hands with Mango People Media, a production house with a series of successful web series and producer of Taapsee Pannu’s next feature film, Rashmi Rocket. This collaboration will co-create content slates across different genres for Event Originals. An ambitious and soon to be launched IP that will cater to the southern Indian music community will also be produced as a non-fiction format series. However, consistently growing demand from customers enabled the industry to tackle all these challenges successfully and emerge successful at the end of the year compared to the beginning, by delivering 500 Mn rides in 2016, up from 130 Mn in 2015 registering a staggering 250% year-on-year growth in the country, according to Redseer Consulting.

Other factors that played a big role in the growth of this industry were: 
 
1) The industry experienced a 9% month-on-month average growth in the year 2016 
 
2) The customer adoption increased with cheaper options like the ride at INR 6/km and share rides driving up customer adoption.

	4) Options like Rentals and Outstation Taxi add to the online cab aggregators’ portfolio

	5) States putting a blanket ban on surge pricing affected payouts to drivers and operations which was the only downside to the growth streak.

This was also visible in low investor sentiment wherein the industry saw a total funding of less than USD 80 million in 2016 against USD 500 million same period year before.

Even in this scenario, the industry (aggregators and internet kitchens together) grew at 150% rate y-o-y last year with an estimated GMV of USD 300 million in 2016, according to a report by RedSeer Management Consulting. 
 
For Restaurants, the online platforms have helped them increase their reach and this additional business source has improved their resource utilization.

Customer Behavior 
 
Customers have started to opt for the multiple choices offered by online platforms in place of ordering food by calling individual restaurants. This was confirmed in our study wherein, the share of online food delivery for partner restaurants (restaurants associated with online delivery platforms) covered in the study has reached to 30-35% of their total business and these numbers seems to be growing rapidly by the day.

With more than 80% of orders coming in from Top 5 cities (out of 20+ cities where online food delivery is active), the established players are focusing on achieving operational efficiencies and profitability in these cities and have limited their expansion to newer markets.  <keyword id="824043" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Business-Insider">Business Insider</keyword> caught up with <keyword id="1355290" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tejas-Menon">Tejas Menon</keyword>, the man of the ‘music’ hour to chat about how crowdfunding an album makes sense for the musicians who want to ‘Make it happen’. 
 <keyword id="17256" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Menon">Menon</keyword> defines his music as ‘A range of influences including 80’s pop-rock, musical theater and adult-contemporary songwriters, developed into his unique style of lyric-heavy pop-rock.’ 
 The singer has played in popular music festivals like <keyword id="15277" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bacardi">Bacardi</keyword> NH7 Weekender, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and Mahindra Blues Festival and he is comfortable both with playing in a band and just by himself and his acoustic guitar.

''For someone who released his first EP(Extended Play) ‘Small Victories’ in late 2014, I’m finally ready to do a full-length album called ‘Make it happen’ which will feature 10 songs. In the past two years, I did try to get a label on board for this but I felt that after performing all over the country, I’ll let the people who like my music help me out to do this by myself’’ he says, in an optimistic fervor. 
 
Taking the independent part to the next level literally, Menon believes that is easier than it has ever been to make a good album these days, however, good studios and album production still cost a great deal, wherein comes the crowd funding. 
 
 
 
The Campaign 
 Menon had started a campaign on the crowdfunding platform <keyword id="1927134" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wishberry">Wishberry</keyword>, which had an initial goal of Rs. 2 lakhs to be completed in 30 days, to fulfill costs like Studio Cost (Rs. 90000), Admin fees(Rs. 20000), Mixing (Rs. 50000), Mastering (Rs. 30000) and <keyword id="2426054" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="misc">Misc</keyword>. (Rs. 10000). As he’s hit the goal in under a day, the bigger goal has been set to Rs. 4 lakhs. 
 If he hits the new goal, <keyword id="6373601" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Dadlani">Vishal Dadlani</keyword>, the frontman of one of the first indie bands, Pentagram will feature on his album for a song called ‘Kindness’. 
 
For the fans, by the fans 
 
The incentive for the fans here is multifold, as Menon has decided to use the funds to give out rewards in forms of a copy of an album, an artsy signed poster, a songbook with all the lyrics, a deluxe edition of the album due to release later in the year, free passes to his gigs and much more. 
 
The rewards increase with the contribution as the campaign allows you to fund the project either in categories, or you can also be the rogue one and contribute any amount without any expectation of a reward. 
 
Menon has already started working on the album and expects it to release by May, this year by when all the contributors can expect to start reaping the rewards that they’ve sown. 
 
Crowdfunding for the win 
 Menon isn’t the first artist to have crowdfunded his album, with artists like <keyword id="1144733" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Parvaaz">Parvaaz</keyword> with their album ‘<keyword id="226613" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baran">Baran</keyword>’ already doing it in 2014 and <keyword id="33360" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vasudha-Sharma">Vasudha Sharma</keyword>, another indie musician, did it for her album ‘Attuned spirits’ in 2013. 
 
''Crowdfunding is great as it reinstates the fact that they’re people who’re willing to back you up not just with compliments but with real investment, how big or small that might be,’’ says Menon about why he thinks it’s a great idea not just for social causes or businesses but also for creative geniuses to the likes of him.

The bursting artist in Menon lights up when we asked him what next if he hits the new monetary goal as 28 days are left to the campaign with it garnering a support of 85 backers with Rs. 3,59,170 collected and counting. 
 The 27-year old says that he’d like to collaborate with more artists and diversify his album further with Pop, Rock, Blues, Funk, R'nB, <keyword id="856224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electronica">Electronica</keyword> and Soul elements that he has used to create ''a seamless musical experience that has pushed well past his creative limits.’’
