New Delhi, Media firm Dailyhunt is in the advanced stages of talks to acquire homegrown microblogging platform <keyword id="20639239" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="koo" source="keywords">Koo</keyword>, a media report said on Wednesday. According to <keyword id="19895623" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="techcrunch" source="keywords">TechCrunch</keyword>, citing sources, the deal is expected to be finalised "within weeks" and involves a share-swap agreement. Founded in 2020, Koo is owned by Bengaluru-based <keyword id="20760807" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bombinate-technologies" source="keywords">Bombinate Technologies</keyword>. The company was founded by <keyword id="20760806" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aprameya-radhakrishna" source="keywords">Aprameya Radhakrishna</keyword> and Mayank Bidawatka and is often considered to be India's version of Elon Musk's X. In a statement to IANS, Dailyhunt parent <keyword id="20757904" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="verse-innovation" source="keywords">VerSe Innovation</keyword>'s spokesperson said that they have no comment on recent speculations. "Our focus remains on our core objectives," the spokesperson added. In September last year, Bidawatka said that the company is looking to "partner with someone who has the distribution strength to give Koo a massive user impetus and help it grow." In a LinkedIn post, he mentioned that the next phase for Koo is to "build scale and that will happen with either funding or through a strategic partnership with someone who already has scale" in the "current reality of a slow investor market." In April last year, Koo said that it had let go of 30 per cent of its workforce over the course of the year amid the current global meltdown. The company had told IANS that it is important for businesses of all sizes to adopt efficient and conservative approaches to see this period through.

Google, Microsoft backed VerSe Innovation sacks 150 employees, cuts pay for employees earning ₹10 lakh or more

Video-editing SaaS platform <keyword id="13657708" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="videoverse" source="Orion">VideoVerse</keyword> on Wednesday said it has secured $46.8 million in its Series B funding that it will utilise to strengthen its team, technology and global footprint. Previously known as Toch.ai, VideoVerse is building the next-generation video editing ecosystem addressing a broad range of use cases in the post-production process. The funding round was led by A91 Partners, Alpha Wave Global and <keyword id="6364080" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="binny-bansal" source="Orion">Binny Bansal</keyword>, former co-founder of Flipkart. "As we chart out the next phase of our growth journey, these funds will help us in our mission to innovate on behalf of consumer needs and industry demands," said Vinayak Shrivastav, CEO and co-founder, VideoVerse. Maya Penn has quite the résumé: entrepreneur, CEO, philanthropist, eco-friendly fashion designer, coder, illustrator, writer, and animator - all at the tender age of 14.
When most kids her age were learning how to count to 10 and color within the lines, 4-year-old Penn was busy learning how to take apart computers and put them back together. The "kidpreneur" went on to found Maya's Ideas, an eco-friendly, environmentally sustainable fashion and accessories line, when she was 8.
In 2011, Penn gained national attention after a <a href="http://www.forbes.com/2011/05/05/grade-school-entrepreneurs_slide_5.html" target="_blank">Forbes profile</a> on the then 10-year-old and her company. And in December 2013, the teen made her TED debut at the TEDWomen conference. Penn wowed the audience with her impressive business acumen and fearlessness.
It's no surprise that IBM tapped the girl wonder to speak at its Nov. 18 New Way to Work masterclass, which was part of the tech company's campaign to launch its new collaborative email system, <a href="http://www.ibm.com/social-business/us/en/newway/" target="_blank">IBM Verse</a>. At the masterclass, executives and digital mavens spoke about the changing workplace and what companies will need to do to adapt to it. Penn was given the honor of closing out the event, following speakers such as Contently's cofounder Shane Snow and IBM senior vice president Bob Picciano.
In her presentation, Penn discussed the different ways millennials like her are changing the workplace. By 2025, millennials are expected to make up a whopping 75% of the workforce, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Unfortunately, many companies are lagging behind in adapting to the needs of younger generations. "We need to create an environment where millennials will thrive," said Penn. "For the millennial entrepreneur, that means a more flexible, fun, and engaging workplace."
Many things have been said about millennials and their work habits, or lack thereof, but Penn attributes this to simply being misunderstood. "There are many stereotypes about millennial business leaders, one being that they're impatient," she said. "You can look at this in two ways: We're either really impatient, or you can see that we're really ambitious and eager to grow and move forward."
According to Penn, that combination of ambition and impatience is what inspires millennials to innovate. "Young entrepreneurs like myself are shown to be more open-minded, creative, and willing to take risks that will propel them forward and help their companies and startups blossom," she said.
Penn's life and accomplishments are a testament to the ways millennials are influencing the workplace. She believes collaboration is essential for companies to get the most out of this generation. "Creativity and innovation are cultivated when a company allows their workforce to take risks and be more imaginative in their product development," Penn concluded. "I believe merging some of these principles and working together is what will ignite the way we change the world at work."

14-Year-Old Entrepreneur Maya Penn Talks Creativity, Innovation, And Millennials

It's no ordinary Spider-Man movie either.It packs multiple characters from different universes into a seamless story, and it features an innovative, eye-grabbing animation style. It's that dedication to the animation, a style we have never really seen before, that puts "Spider-Verse" in a category all its own.Let's start with a few jaw-dropping numbers about the production.The film had 177 animators on staff at one point. More than twice the typical animated film. To put that in perspective, the original "Toy Story" had just 27 animators.It took one week to animate just one second of footage. It usually takes a week for four seconds. It actually took them one year to get just 10 seconds they were happy with.Peter B. Parker: Very cool.Narrator: And the total shot count on "Spider-Verse" is two to three times higher than other animated films.Each year, animated films seem to look more and more like real life. For "Spider-Verse," instead of making the animation photo-realistic, the creators wanted the movie to stand out on its own as something new for viewers just as they were being introduced to a new Spider-Man in Miles Morales, while at the same time sticking as much as they could to traditional print comic book style.As Head of Character Animation Josh Beveridge put it, "Don't emulate reality, and don't make it a cartoon."To accomplish this, they used a number of different techniques that make "Spider-Verse" a groundbreaking film.One of the most noticeable differences involves frame rate. Animated films are typically 24 frames per second, and creating a different image for each frame is known as animating on ones. "Spider-Verse" broke the mold and animated much of the movie on twos as well, meaning they kept some of the images on screen for two frames, which makes the animation feel, as the producers describe it, "crunchy." Each character's pose lasts longer and is much more pronounced.Like here, when Prowler is chasing Miles through the alley.You can see examples of animating on twos in some of the original Disney films. The "Spider-Verse" animators alternated between on twos and on ones depending on the nature of the scene. They could make Miles seem fast or skilled in some shots, on ones, and struggle in others, on twos. Sometimes he would be on twos while other characters were on ones.When they're swinging through the forest, Miles is on twos because he's clumsy while Peter B. Parker is on ones because he's more skilled. This subtly helped illustrate how Miles was slowly becoming more comfortable with his powers.Each character's detailed animation style helped to bring out his or her personality.Another major technique was how they chose not to use motion blur, a CGI trick which most new films use to soften a movement and make it seem more real. Instead, they used an old-school technique called a smear. This was used a lot in early cartoons to create the sense of motion.If you look at a single frame, you'll notice things like multiple limbs to create the illusion of movement. Here, Gwen is playing the drums, and you can see multiple hands and drum sticks. And here, when Miles has his cape ripped off his back.Miles Morales: I think it's cool.Peter B Parker: Spider-Man doesn't wear a cape.Narrator: You can see multiple arms in some frames.Here's an example of one of the first cartoons to use motion smearing, the 1942 short called "The Dover Boys at Pimento University."So those are some of the things they borrowed from older animated films, but there's plenty of new innovations too.Some things they borrowed from comic books, but we've never seen them in a movie. Basically, the entire movie is a comic book that moves.Co-director Phil Lord said, "If you freeze any part of the movie at any time, it will look like an illustration with hand-drawn touches and all." There are even moments in the film when hand-drawn still images pop up in the shots to replace the computer animation. Like this shot, when Miles is running through the streets of New York and he leaps off a taxi.And they layered 2D ink lines on top of the 3D art to give the characters more of a hand-drawn look.If you look at a comic book, you may have noticed a common error where the ink is misprinted. The filmmakers decided to use this misprint style in the film to create a depth of field instead of blurring the background. When something is in focus, the colors align and are crisper.They used a technique called half-toning, which uses dots to create colors and gradients. Shadows were created with hatching, or crisscrossed lines.Legendary Marvel artist Jack Kirby was known for his abstract dots, or "Kirby Krackle," which create the illusion of energy. The film references and uses the effect multiple times, when the portal opens and when Miles is spray-painting.There are action lines to show movement, and they used comics' signature onomatopoeia, or words on the image, to frequently represent sounds and motion. Comic panels made out of webbing show montages and background action.'Cause there are six different spider-people, they could also play with multiple animation styles in one film. They actually studied manga, Japanese comics, when designing the surface of the robot Spidey.Both Peni and Spider-pig have exaggerated anime and cartoonish movements that stand out compared to Miles' world.CG supervisor Michael Lasker says Spider-Man Noir was the most stylized character, and was an extra challenge since he was drawn in only black and white but required detailed textures and shading.Spider-Man Noir: Hey, fellas.Miles Morales: Is he in black and white?Peter B. Parker: Where's that wind coming from? We're in a basement.Narrator: Animator Nick Kondo tweeted that this one scene involving all of the spider-people was the most technically challenging for him, taking two months to get right.What each spider-person had in common was that they were always kept low to the ground, forming acute angles with their limbs.The attention to detail is everywhere. Backgrounds like New York City's streets were studied closely to get them as accurate as possible. And if you look closely, you can find multiple Stan Lees inserted in certain frames.All of these techniques combined to make a movie that has stood out among not just the animated films of 2018, but perhaps of all time.

Why it took one week to animate just one second of Oscar-nominated 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'

"Somebody who thinks that it has to be exactly like this because this has always happened before. It's always going to happen this way."The CEO of <a target="_blank" rel="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-whole-foods">Amazon's grocery chain</a> said being open to other people's ideas is crucial for career growth.But he admitted in the interview that he faced a similar pitfall."I sometimes could have been that person in my past, on certain things," Buechel said. "And I learned the hard way that you have to be flexible, especially in today's world. Our customers' demands are changing all the time, things are always changing the business."Career experts agree that being open to new ideas and flexibility is important for employees — and they say this virtue should also be applied to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/12-secrets-to-being-a-better-and-more-innovative-boss-2013-2">leadership</a>."It's equally critical for leadership to be open to new ways of doing things and to support their teams in implementing innovative solutions, and it's not just about employees who don't want change," Prerika Agarwal, the founder and CEO of Inspiration Careers, told Business Insider in an email, adding that she often encountered employees frustrated by leaders who were resistant to new ideas.Katherine Kirkinis, a career coach for Wanderlust Careers, told BI that being knowledgeable isn't an inherent flaw, and the underlying issue is failing to be open to other people's ideas because of it."You may be incredibly intelligent and well versed in your field, but that doesn't mean you can't learn something new from anyone (even someone who is much younger or in a lower-ranked position)," she wrote. "The smartest people know this and are always listening, curious, and trying to learn something new from absolutely everyone they encounter."Kirkinis added that flexibility is also a key trait since a CEO or a company would want <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/remote-work-innovation-collaboration-return-to-office-work-from-home-2023-12">innovation</a>."If you figured out one way to do something and it works, fabulous," she wrote. "Perhaps there is a way to improve on that, or make it more efficient. Curiosity and innovation are key — if you are working with someone who does their job and never innovates, that can be satisfactory, but you can make yourself irreplaceable to a company or team if you innovate and take initiative."

1. On his outfit for the GQ interview:
"I hope we don't see no paparazzi today. Because I'm still getting acquainted with these jogging pants I threw on. Like, 'That's not my statement!'"
2. Kanye West is a blowfish, so don't call him a shark:
"I'm a blowfish. I'm not a shark, I'm a blowfish. So that perfect example about <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2013/05/10/kanye-west-walks-into-a-sign-video/" target="_blank">me hitting my head</a> [he walked into a street sign and it was caught by paparazzi], it's like a blowfish. I wasn't coming out of my house going to a paparazzi's house to attack them. I'm defending my family in front of my own house. I'm defending my name as someone's screaming something negative at me. That's a blowfish. People have me pinned as a shark or a predator in some way, and in no way am I that. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone. I want to defend people. I want to help people."
3. The toilets at his wedding to Kim Kardashian weren't <a href="http://pagesix.com/2014/05/29/golden-toilet-tower-headless-nude-statues-inside-kimyes-wedding/" target="_blank">gold as reported</a>, but "neutral" to match the venue:
"The bathrooms - that usually would be a porta-potty - were wrapped in a fabric that was neutral to match the fort ... the same materials that were used to cover the bathroom, we said, 'Let's just use that [to cover a bar at the reception], because this is all we have to make the bar look better.' Which it did, in the end."
4. Kanye West compared how celebrities are treated to "blacks in the '60s" during his wedding toast.
"What I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the '60s, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name. I said that in the toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we're going to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities so that my daughter can live a more normal life. She didn't choose to be a celebrity. But she is. So I'm going to fight to make sure she has a better life.
I'm here to fight for the re-education of what celebrity is. To say, 'Yes, we are celebrities, but yes, we're also innovators, we're also inventors, we're also thoughtful.'"
5. On the A-list wedding seating chart:
"Wow, Carine Roitfeld is seven seats down from Kim. Farnaz [Farjam], the producer of the Kardashians and the producer of The Real World, is four seats down from [director] Steve McQueen. And four seats, because in between them is Hosain [Rahman] from Jawbone." This is what I talked about. Do you realize what that means for those people to be in that close of a proximity to each other?"
6. Speaking of Carine Roitfeld [former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris] ...
"Carine Roitfeld is the Walt Disney of what Tumblr is today. She is the Kanye West of what Tumblr is today. She's the single most important person to what street style is today. And she was at the wedding seven seats down from Kim, who is one of the number one fashion plates of today."
7. Kim Kardashian is his "dinosaur": 
"Love is infectious. You know, God is infectious-God flowing through us and us being little-baby creators and s---. But His energy and His love and what He wants us to have as people and the way He wants us to love each other, that is infectious. Like they said in Step Brothers: Never lose your dinosaur. This is the ultimate example of a person never losing his dinosaur. Meaning that even as I grew in cultural awareness and respect and was put higher in the class system in some way for being this musician, I never lost my dinosaur.
8. What attracted him to Kim Kardashian:
Kim is this girl who f------ turns me on. I love her. This is who I want to be next to and be around. And then people would try to say, 'Well, you know, if you're a musician, you should be with a musician, and if you want to design, you need to be with a girl from the design world.' I don't give a f--- about people's opinions. Because when a kid falls in love with an airplane or a bike or a dinosaur - especially if you're an only child and it's not because of the book that the sibling was reading - it's like, f---, you mean to tell me that the dinosaurs walked the earth and stuff like that?! That's amazing! You mean to tell me that these giant multi-ton crafts can fly that fast and that loud, and they can flip, and there's danger, the possibility of them exploding? That's f------ cool! You mean to tell me that this girl with this f------ body and this face is also into style, and she's a nice person, and she has her own money and is family-oriented? That's just as cool as a f------ fighter jet or dinosaur! And just as rarely seen...
Kim is the type of girl that, her entire life, if you were in school with her, most people would be studying and up late nights, but for some reason she would have the skill set to go and grab the one book, turn to the exact page, and just magically say, 'That's the exact answer.' Or she could wink at the person who had done all the work and get it done anyway. And the point of life is getting s--- done and being happy."
9. He's smart, duh:
"People know I'm smart. And people know that, whether it's SNL or Jimmy Kimmel, it's a trend to take the piss out of celebrity - just as much of a trend as wearing a gray hoodie or driving a Prius."
10. His single "New Slaves" contains "the best rap verse of all time":
"That song that I do feel is the best rap verse of all time - 'New Slaves.' The second verse. I argue that it's the best rap verse of all time. It's the Coming to America or Anchorman of a verse. You know, it's got the funny shit. It's got the antagonization. It's got patterns. It's got social and political consciousness. It's got struggle. It's got bravado. It's everything that a rap verse is supposed to be."
11. On what's cool:
"I don't like walking around with people thinking I'm doing uncool s---, because there's nothing I'm doing that's uncool. It's all innovative. You just might not understand it yet. But it's cool. Family is super cool. Going home to one girl every night is super cool. Just going home and getting on the floor and playing with your child is super cool. Not wearing a red leather jacket, and just looking like a dad and s---, is like super cool. Having someone that I can call Mom again. That s--- is super cool."
