They were locked in a 20% <keyword id="760475" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lower-circuit">lower circuit</keyword> on Thursday after a rip-roaring rally where the stock tripled in just three days since its listing.</li><li>When the market reopened trades in <keyword id="33542" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Burger-King">Burger King</keyword> stock at 2 pm, Business Insider learns that 15 million shares were dumped at once in the market and there were not enough buyers for that kind of volume.</li><li>Here’s an explainer on what made the stock swing so wildly from one circuit to another.</li></ul>The dream run for the recently listed quick restaurant service chain Burger King India took a breather today. The shares were locked in a 20% lower circuit on Thursday after hitting an all-time high of ₹214 per share during the early trading hours — clocking nearly 265% gains to issue price since December 14. The record rally since its listing this week has pushed its market cap beyond ₹6,844 crore, surpassing its rival Westlife Development (McDonald’s operator in India), which has a market cap of ₹6,790 crore. Just as the sharp rally in the last three days was surprising, the fall today has come as a shock for many small investors who were lured by the record surge in the stock. Here’s an explainer on what happened in the market: What is the upper and lower circuit? Circuits are the limits set by the stock-exchanges for a stock to cap its movement in extreme cases — either a rally upwards or a massive fall downwards. This protects investors’ wealth and ensures an unwanted surprise moment. A stock hits an <keyword id="96007" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="upper-circuit">upper circuit</keyword> when there are only buyers and no sellers. The upper circuit for a stock is the maximum price it is allowed to move up to. Once that limit is breached, trading is not allowed. This does not apply for stocks that are also traded in the futures and options segment. For most stocks the circuit is set at 20%. This limit can be revised by the exchanges. In the case of Burger King, the limit was set at 20%, and after surging to ₹214 during the morning trade, the stock was locked in an upper circuit. However, when the exchanges allowed trading to restart in the afternoon session, the stock fell almost 20% and was locked again, this time in a lower circuit at 2:10 pm. A lower circuit is the minimum price to which a stock can fall to in a single trading day. When a stock hits the lower circuit it means that there are only sellers and not buyers at that point. What has been the reason behind the rally? With a whopping subscription of 157 times, Burger King India was one of the most popular IPO this year. Most brokerages have recommended a ‘subscribe’ due to its attractive valuations, growing market share and future outlook. With COVID-19 vaccines making progress, restaurants have started opening up again, boosting the sentiment. The shares of Burger King India were locked in a 20% upper circuit for three days in a row, nearly taking its gains to 265% over the issue price, just four days after listing. The reason behind the tumble today However, after three days of a rip-roaring rally, some investors (may be even just one) may have decided to take some profit home. Business Insider reached out to market watchers for insight on what may have played out but they refused to share any comment on record. We have learnt that when the market reopened trades in Burger King stock at 2 pm, 15 million shares were dumped at once in the market and there were not enough buyers for that kind of volume. And that led to the sharp fall where the shares breached the lower circuit. What next? ⁠— ‘More upside ahead — stay invested’ According to analysts, there is ample scope for investors in Burger King, and they see room for more upside over the next few months. Keshav Lahoti Associate Equity Analyst, Angel Broking post the listing of the IPO said, “Such listing was in-line with our expectation as the company issue was priced at a significant discount compared to listed peers such as Jubilant FoodWorks (Domino’s Pizza) and Westlife Development (McDonald). Short term investors can book profit. We advise long term investors to stay invested in the company as there is ample scope available for the company to increase its business in India.” IIFL Securities, <a href="https://www.timesnownews.com/business-economy/markets/article/more-steam-left-in-burger-king-after-130-gain-on-listing-day-analyst/694692">Sanjiv Bhasin believes </a>that the stock can still rise 30-40% more in the next few months. However, he also recommends caution, given the frothiness in the broader market. “There is a lot of left out feeling, and there is a lot of froth in small-caps now. Dish TV shares hit the 20% upper circuit a week after lenders sell over 5 crore shares in the open market

The stock climbed 5 per cent to Rs 384.50 -- its upper circuit limit as well as 52-week high -- on the <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword> after beginning the trade on a positive note. The company's market capitalisation climbed Rs 117.99 crore to Rs 2,478.92 crore on the BSE. On the NSE, it jumped 4.99 per cent to Rs 388.20 -- its upper circuit limit as also the one-year peak. After declining in opening trade, the 30-share benchmark <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> was trading 87 points higher at 59,118.24 points in late morning trade. Three Adani group firms - Vishvapradhan Commercial Pvt Ltd (VCPL) along with AMG Media Networks and Adani Enterprises Ltd - have come out with a public announcement for the offer under the Sebi norms. The open offer to acquire an additional 26 per cent or 1.67 crore equity shares in NDTV is worth nearly Rs 493 crore. The offer price is Rs 294 per share, 19.71 per cent lower than the closing price on Tuesday. NDTV's share price, which has risen more than 300 per cent so far this year, closed at Rs 366.20 apiece on BSE on Tuesday. If the open offer is successful, the Adani group will have more than 55 per cent stake in NDTV. As the Adani group looks to boost media investments as part of an ambitious expansion plan, a group firm first acquired a company that in the past was linked to rival billionaire <keyword id="3820" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mukesh-ambani" source="Orion">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>. The particular company had loaned Rs 250 crore to NDTV in 2008-09 and the Adani group firm now exercised the option to convert that debt into 29.18 per cent stake in the news channel company. Subsequently, it has launched an open offer for another 26 per cent stake, the group said in a statement on Tuesday. "AMVL's wholly-owned subsidiary VCPL holds warrants of RRPR Holding Pvt Ltd (RRPR) entitling it to convert them into a 99.9 per cent stake in RRPR. VCPL has exercised warrants to acquire 99.5 per cent in RRPR," it said. Such acquisition will result in VCPL acquiring control of RRPR. "RRPR is a promoter group company of NDTV and holds a 29.18 per cent stake in NDTV," the statement said. On Tuesday, NDTV said the exercise of the right by VCPL was executed without any input of the company or its founders. In an internal communication to its employees on Tuesday, NDTV said, "the developments of today are entirely unexpected for NDTV, and for Radhika and Prannoy". "We are in the process of evaluating the next steps, many of which involve regulatory and legal processes," it added. The bid for NDTV will be the Adani group's most high-profile bet in the media sector where Ambani already has a sizeable presence through Network18, which runs a bouquet of channels, including news channel CNN-News18 and business channel CNBC-TV18. Last year, Adani Media Ventures Ltd (AMVL), the media arm under the group's flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd, had acquired the digital business news platform Quintillion Business Media Pvt Ltd (QBM). Barbeque Nation's share price jumps 20% and gets locked in upper circuit

At the <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword>, the NDTV scrip opened at Rs 447.70 (upper limit) after closing at Rs 426.40 on Tuesday. NDTV scrip hits upper circuit after Prannoy and Radhika Roy resign

New Delhi, Feb 20 () Shares of Thomas Cook (India) were locked in the upper circuit on Thursday ahead of a meeting to consider and approve proposal for buyback of equity shares of the company. The stock opened on a positive note at Rs 44 and gained momentum to hit its upper circuit at Rs 49.30, up 19.95 per cent over previous close. On the NSE, the stock zoomed 20 per cent (its upper price band) to Rs 49.50. Earlier in the day, the company informed the exchanges that "a meeting of the board of directors is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 26th February, 2020... to inter alia, consider and approve proposal for buyback of equity shares of the company," Thomas Cook (India) said in a BSE filing. Ruchi Soya shares hit 20% upper circuit prior to the launch of its ₹4,300 crore FPO

After 2.30 p.m., the stock reached the upper price band of ₹138.40, 130.67% higher than the issue price on BSE. The upper circuit halts the trading in stocks for some time. As the store count will increase, operating leverage will kick in and the company will be able to report profit and it will lead re-rating of the multiple for the stock," he added. Burger King India roll-on bourses continue — shares locked in 20% upper circuit

New Delhi, Nov 25 () Shares of Reliance Communications hit their upper circuit on Monday, rising over 6 per cent, amid reports that Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries and three others may bid for the assets of debt-ridden company.
 On the BSE, shares of the company rose 4.55 per cent to 69 paise apiece.
 Similarly, the stock advanced 6.67 per cent to 80 paise on the NSE.
 Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel was trading 3.81 per cent higher at Rs 437.05 and Reliance Industries (RIL) was up 1.04 per cent at Rs 1,562.45 on the BSE.
 Bharti Airtel, RIL and three others are likely to bid for the assets of debt-ridden Reliance Communications on Monday, according to sources close to the development.
 "Varde Partners, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries, UV Asset Reconstruction Company (UVARCL) are among the main contenders for RCom assets," sources said.
 The last date to submit bids will end on Monday and RCom committee of creditors will also meet on the same day to open bids.
 RCom's secured debt is estimated to be around Rs 33,000 crore. Lenders have submitted claims of around Rs 49,000 crore in August.

<keyword id="4785016" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDBI-Bank-shares">IDBI Bank shares</keyword> on Monday zoomed 20 per cent to its <keyword id="9325257" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="highest-trading-permissible-limit">highest trading permissible limit</keyword> for the day after the company posted a profit of Rs 135 crore in the quarter ended March. The lender reported a profit after 13 straight quarters of net losses. At the BSE, it jumped 19.95 per cent to Rs 24.35 -- its upper circuit limit. The company's shares advanced 19.85 per cent to its highest trading permissible limit for day of Rs 24.45 at the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The bank, majority owned by <keyword id="6368369" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="life-insurance-corporation-of-india">Life Insurance Corporation of India</keyword> (LIC), had posted a net loss of Rs 4,918 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Total income rose to Rs 6,925 crore as against Rs 6,616 crore in the fourth quarter of 2018-19, the bank said on Saturday in a regulatory filing. The gross non-performing assets ratio inched up to 27.53 per cent during the quarter as against 27.47 per cent, while net NPA came down sharply to 4.19 per cent as against 10.11 per cent earlier.
