New Delhi, Apr 1 () Market regulator Sebi has imposed a penalty totalling Rs 55 lakh on 11 entities for indulging in fraudulent trading in the scrip of Unisys Software and Holding Industries Ltd. The regulator levied a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on 11 entities -Deepa Saurabh Shah ,Sunil Jain, Rahul Gupta, Decent Vincom,Anthony Gayen, Dilip Kumar Mandal, Badri Prasad &amp; Sons, Premsagar Vinimay, Nityadhara Plaza, Conquer Barter and Navdurga Investment Consultants. The regulator had conducted an investigation between January 2010 and November 2014 regarding the scrip of Unisys Software. During the investigation, Sebi found that these entities are connected to each other and had indulged in fraudulent trade practices that created a misleading appearance of trading and contributed to manipulation in the scrip price of Unisys, which misguided the investors in the securities market. By doing so, these entities have violated the provisions of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices (PFUTP) regulations; and accordingly, the regulator has levied fine on these entities. AST SP ANSANS

Americans Are More Afraid Of Credit Card Fraud Than Of Terrorism

New Delhi, Jan 16 () Markets regulator Sebi on Thursday restrained 11 entities from accessing securities market for three years for fraudulent trading in the scrip of Unisys Software and Holding Industries.
 During the period of restraint, the existing holding of securities, including the holding of units of mutual funds, of the entities will remain frozen, the regulator said.
 "The trading behavior of the noticees has certainly been very unusual and apparently lacks honesty of intent of a genuine investor of securities market," it added.
 The noticees include Decent Vincom Pvt Ltd, Premsagar Vinimay Pvt Ltd, Nityadhara Plaza Pvt Ltd, Conquer Barter Pvt Ltd, Navdurga Investment Consultants Pvt Ltd and six individuals.
 The order follows a probe conducted by the regulator during January 2010 to November 2014 into the scrip of Unisys.
 During the course of investigation, the price volume data in the scrip of Unisys was analysed. Sebi noted that there was continuous up and down movement in the scrip price of the firm and also observed that the entities were trading adversely in the scrip.
 Sebi said the entities indulged in manipulative trades by contributing to negative as well as positive last traded price in the scrip repeatedly during different patches of the investigation period.
 Moreover, the repeated matching of trades of certain entities also suggested that they were connected to each other.
 Consequently, Sebi barred the individuals from securities market for violating provisions of Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices norms.
 Separately, the regulator passed an interim order against investment advisory firm Money Desire Research and its partners Anoop Kumar Tiwari and Raghvendra Singh, restraining them from acting as investment advisors until further orders.
 They have also been barred from accessing securities market, among other directions.
 The order came after Sebi received several complaints against the firm alleging that it lured its clients by promising expected returns and the amount of fees charged by the firm from its client is unreasonable, arbitrary and unfair as multiple payment for overlapping duration has been taken from clients for the same service.
 Besides, risk profiling of clients was also not done properly.
 Sebi noted that the firm has not been fair in its dealing with the clients and thus passed the directions pending detailed investigation. SRS

Nearly half (49 per cent) of employees estimate they lose between one and five hours weekly of workforce productivity dealing with IT issues. According to a new report, 42 per cent of employers still do not measure productivity loss due to IT issues. Employers also need to be mindful of the generational differences in the perceived value of different workplace technologies to strike a balance between what's new and innovative and what will move the needle on productivity. For instance, millennial employees see far higher value in chatbots, wearable devices, and virtual whiteboards compared to their Gen Z colleagues. Many companies have formed or ramped up employee experience (EX) programs amidst the Great Resignation to improve employee recruitment and retention. Companies with very mature EX programmes find their employees more engaged today than six months ago at a rate of 74 per cent, compared to those with immature EX programmes (24 per cent). CoreBrand polled vice-president level executives from top U.S. companies on how they felt about more than 1,000 brands based on their reputation, management, and investment potential. Then CoreBrand took the brands its polling audience was most familiar with and ranked them by favorability to determine the five brands in each product sector that were most and least respected by the executives.
Here are the five <keyword id="6358815" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="tech">tech</keyword> brands corporate executives respect the least:
1. Unisys: Provides information technology services and IT consulting for large corporations and government agencies. Unisys' specialties include banking technology services, outsourcing, and the integration of complex technology systems.
2. Cognizant Technology: Like Unisys, Cognizant Technology is a business-to-business company providing information technology and IT consulting services. The growth of its outsourcing business placed the company on Fortune magazine's list of the 100 fastest-growing companies every year from 2003 to 2012.
3. Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro is the world's largest wholesale distributor of information technology, marketing technology and mobile products a list of the world's biggest companies that includes Apple, Cisco, and Microsoft.
4. Analog Devices: One of the biggest manufacturers of computer chips, Analog Devices has approximately 60,000 customers for its signal processing products. While its hard to brand computer chips, companies like Intel have worked to explain to consumers why electronics products bearing its chips are better than those featuring the hardware of its competitors.
5. Seagate: A data storage and hard disk manufacturer that has to date sold more than 2 billion hard disk drives worldwide. 
The poll seems to imply that there just isn't really a way for these business-to-business brands to win. While it doesn't make sense for them to spend millions of dollars on big-time <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> campaigns that will reach an audience made up primarily of people who will never buy their products, not having a big media presence seems to have earned the disrespect of their peers in corporate America.

While the stories people told might not provide a lot of insight for your next job interview, many of them are simply too good not to share.
Here's a sampling of the craziness that befell these unfortunate interviewers and interviewees:
<h3>1. Strip, please.</h3>
Quora user <a href="http://qr.ae/og2Ef">Sami Thompson's</a> interview for a receptionist position was going pretty well, at least until the interviewer asked her to take off her clothes. It was then that she realized she was interviewing for a receptionist job at a strip club.
"Needless to say, I expressed my regrets, plucked my application form from [the strip club owner's] hands, and we both had a good laugh as I hastily retreated to my car with the reddest face on the planet," Thompson recalled.
<h3>2. No guests allowed.</h3>
<a href="http://qr.ae/ogklh">Bennett McEwan</a> was interviewing recent grads for a healthcare analyst job at Unisys when one of the candidates arrived with a very special guest in tow: her mother.
McEwan reports that the prospective hire barely said a word, instead deferring to her mother. Among other demands, the mother said Unisys would have to pay for an additional hotel room whenever her daughter had to travel because "I accompany my daughter everywhere."
Needless to say, neither the mother nor the daughter left with a job offer that day.
<h3>3. The opposite of flattery.</h3>
Video-game industry veteran and Quora user <a href="http://qr.ae/ogVyO">Chris Charla</a> was interviewing a job candidate and asked which video game consoles she liked to play. 
"I've owned every game system since the Super Nintendo except PSP," the candidate replied. "I was excited for it and then I played 'Death, Jr.' and I hated that game so much I decided the system sucked."
The problem? Charla was one of the primary creators of "Death, Jr."
Fortunately for the candidate, Charla didn't hold it against her.
"She got the job because a) she was the best qualified candidate, b) I'm not vindictive and c) her graceful recovery from an embarrassing moment demonstrated effectively that she did well in high-pressure situations," Charla wrote.
<h3>4. A job interview that turned into a date.</h3>
<a href="http://qr.ae/ogqA4">Leitha Matz</a> was interviewing to be a copywriter for an older businessman when it became increasingly clear that the man was looking for more than just a new employee. The two-day interview included dinner, drinks, several rides in a fancy car, and a hike to a romantic vista before the man revealed that he wanted to marry her.
After an unwanted kiss, Matz politely told the man she didn't want to be his wife - or his copywriter.
<h3>5. A date that turned into a job interview</h3>
An <a href="http://qr.ae/ogQl3">anonymous Quora user</a> responded to a personal ad on Craigslist to go to a sex club with another man. On the way there, his date revealed that he was the founder of a web company, a perfect fit for the unemployed Quora user's software skills.
One thing led to another, and Anonymous had himself a new job by the end of the evening.
"It's my favorite job I've had so far; I kinda feel like I could do this for the rest of my life," he wrote.
<h3>6. Earthquake!</h3>
Quora user <a href="http://qr.ae/og0BX">Lee Ballentine</a> had the perfect opportunity to prove his toughness to the CEO of a Silicon Valley company who had previously served in the Israeli army. Midway through the interview, an earthquake erupted.
But while others scrambled for the exits, both Ballentine and the CEO continued through the interview as if nothing was wrong.
"I decided that if the CEO could take it, so could I," Ballentine wrote. "We kept right on talking until we were the only two people left in the building."
The rest of the people in the office returned about a half hour later. Several days after that, Ballentine had a job offer.
<h3>7. Whose dog is it anyway?</h3>
Venture capitalist <a href="http://qr.ae/oO7xC">Murli Ravi</a> tells the story of a friend who was interviewing candidates for a mid-level position at his company when one of the job applicants walked in with a golden retriever.
Ravi's friend said the interview was pretty normal, with the only exception being that the dog spent most of it lying under a table, only to leave the room with the interview still in progress.
At the end, Ravi's friend couldn't help but ask the candidate why he decided to bring a dog to the job interview.
The candidate's response: "My dog? I thought it was your dog! I wanted to ask you the same question!"
It turns out the dog had walked in off the street.

The agency said it was aware of at least two incidents in which the wheel detached from the steering column in 2023 Model Y cars. According to a filing posted on NHTSA's website, the affected vehicles were delivered to owners without the "retaining bolt that holds the steering wheel in place". The NHTSA is assessing "the scope, frequency and manufacturing processes associated with this condition". Tesla recently "recalled" more than 321,000 vehicles for a software glitch and deployed an over-the-air (<keyword id="6607315" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ota" source="Orion">OTA</keyword>) firmware update to correct the anomaly in tail lights that may cause false fault detections. It also recalled almost 30,000 Model X vehicles over an issue that could cause the front passenger airbag to improperly deploy in "low-speed" collisions. In September last year, the electric car-maker recalled around 1.1 million vehicles to prevent drivers from getting pinched by the windows while being rolled up. The windows in these Tesla cars would not recognise certain objects while closing, which could result in "a pinching injury to the occupant". In May, Tesla physically recalled 1,30,000 cars to fix touchscreen issues caused by an overheating central processing unit (CPU). The company also paused the rollout of its Full Self-Driving (<keyword id="450300" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="fsd" source="Orion">FSD</keyword>) beta software in the US and Canada until a firmware update can be issued to address a safety recall. Despite a rocky takeover of Twitter which saw Tesla stock tumbling by over 60 per cent, Tesla made more money than ever in 2022, as total revenue grew 51 per cent to $81.5 billion and net income more than doubled to $12.6 billion. But it is facing increasing competition from the US and China.Building fintech bridges helps the UK retain its leadership position for two reasons:<ul><li>It enables foreign investment. Foreign investment is a key driver of the UK fintech market. Fintech bridges aim to make it easier for investors in priority markets to invest in UK fintech. Those priority markets are likely to be the UK's <a href="http://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/nationalaccounts/balanceofpayments/bulletins/uktrade/february2016#trade-in-goods-geographical-analysis">biggest export markets</a>, including China, the US, and Germany.</li><li>It makes it easier for UK fintechs to scale. The UK domestic market has fewer than 70 million people, making it relatively small compared to the US and China. This means that UK fintechs need to look abroad to scale. To make this easier, fintech bridges will likely include partnerships between the participating countries' regulators aimed at making compliance in multiple countries easier and cheaper for fintechs.</li></ul>THE INNOVATE FINANCE GLOBAL SUMMIT (IFGS): Innovate Finance is a UK members association for fintechs. It held its 2nd global summit in London this week. Here are the key themes we gathered from the panels, speakers, and our discussions with attendees.<ul><li>The UK continues to support fintech development through regulation. In addition to the government initiatives mentioned above, the UK regulator FCA gave more detail on its <a href="http://www.fca.org.uk/news/innovate-finance-global-summit">Regulatory Sandbox</a> which will start accepting applications from fintechs on 9th May 2016. Without a full banking licence, fintechs will remain dependent on banks for their customers.</li></ul>US ALT FINANCE MARKET GENERATES £25 BILLION ($36 BILLION): The US online alternative finance market, which includes P2P lending, crowdfunding, invoice trading, and balance sheet lending, generated £25 billion ($36 billion) in funding in 2015, according to <a href="https://www.kpmg.com/US/en/IssuesAndInsights/ArticlesPublications/Documents/breaking-new-ground-report.pdf">KPMG</a>. That makes it much larger than the UK market which generated £3.2 billion ($5 billion) <a href="https://www.jbs.cam.ac.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/research/centres/alternative-finance/downloads/2015-uk-alternative-finance-industry-report.pdf">in 2015.</a> Despite the industries developing almost simultaneously, the US has achieved much larger scale in part because of its success attracting capital from institutional investors. Institutional investors dominate as a funding source for the US alt finance market. For the UK market it's retail investors.Alt lending will scale in the UK as it attracts more institutional investors with the government's prompting. Biometric authentication provides a high level of security for consumers, without requiring them to remember and enter complicated passwords.STUDENT BANKING APP RAISING £1 MILLION ($1.4 MILLION): <a href="https://loot.io/">Loot</a> is an app that provides money management tools linked to a pre-paid card. The product is aimed at students. It is <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/student-banking-app-loot-close-to-series-a-funding-2016-4">close to announcing</a> a new funding round of more than £1 million ($1.4 million) which it will likely use to add new functionality, including budgeting tools and a savings goal feature. In the UK, student loans are disbursed in quarterly installments, meaning traditional budgeting tools that rely on a monthly income aren't as effective. Loot takes into account that the user's account balance may have to cover up to three months of expenditure including bills and rent. They will then be able to pay by placing two fingers on a scanner at around 300 venues (stores, restaurants and hotels) around the country in areas popular with tourists. The government-led pilot will gather data on tourists' movements and spending habits that will be used to inform policies on tourism ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The venues accepting the fingerprint payments are hoping they will also get access to the data to help them better target tourists.EU INVESTIGATES EUROPE-WIDE FASTER PAYMENTS: The European Payments Council (EPC) has launched a <a href="http://www.europeanpaymentscouncil.eu/index.cfm/about-epc/epc-news/start-of-the-public-consultation-for-first-pan-european-scheme-providing-customers-with-euro-instant-credit-transfers/">public consultation</a> into its plans for an instant payments network for the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). SEPA is made up of the 34 countries which currently use the Euro. The scheme, known as the SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst), will allow consumers to send and receive payments within 10 seconds across all 34 countries. The public consultation is seeking input into the best way to implement the scheme, which will launch in November 2017. SCT Inst is part of the EU's plan to drive adoption of electronic payments in the region and reduce the use of cash, which is expensive and more easily used to fund crime.GLOBAL AGENCIES FORM BLOCKCHAIN GROUP: Four of the world's leading digital asset and blockchain trade organizations announced the launch of a unified international body, called the Global Blockchain Forum, according to <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2016/04/12/bitcoin-technology-organizations-launch-global-blockchain-forum-to-address-international-policy/#45b8ab3e6465" target="_blank">Forbes</a>. The parties, which include the US Chamber of Digital Commerce, the Australian Digital Currency &amp; Commerce Association, the UK Digital Currency Association, and the Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups, Singapore, hope to try to shape international blockchain policy. If you can measure a company's value, you'll be in a better position to know whether you want to commit your hard-earned capital to its stock. Of course, a variety of ways exist to evaluate public companies and their stock. One of the most common is by market capitalization, or "market cap" for short.A company's market capitalization is what it would cost you if you were to buy up all of its outstanding shares at the current share price. It is a way of sizing up a company by the value that investors put on it. Here's how it works, and why it matters to your investing strategy.<h2>What is market capitalization?</h2>Market capitalization is essentially the total value of a company's outstanding stock. Expressed in dollar figures (or whatever the local currency), it's made up of two factors: the number of a company's outstanding shares, and the price of each share. A company's market cap is often included in its online stock listing or company profile. But figuring it out isn't all that hard. To calculate the market capitalization you simply multiply the number of shares outstanding by the price per share. For example, a company that has 50 million outstanding shares and a share price of $10 has a market capitalization of $500 million.We could use Apple (<a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/aapl-stock" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AAPL</a>) as a real-life example. As of December 2020, Apple has about 17 billion shares outstanding. The price of Apple's stock is at $113.85 per share. To calculate the market capitalization, we multiply the two and get about $1,921 billion.<h3>What makes market capitalization change? </h3>Since it depends directly on a company's stock price, market capitalization changes every day. As the price of a company's stock goes up, so does its market capitalization, and vice versa. Changes in the number of outstanding shares also influences market capitalization. Companies sometimes issue additional shares to raise capital or buy back shares. Assuming a constant share price, issuing shares would increase market capitalization and buying them back would decrease it. <h2>Market capitalization categories and investment strategies</h2>You'll often hear companies classified in terms of their market capitalization. Some may be familiar names, like American Eagle Outfitters, Lending Tree, and TripAdvisor; others might be less well-known, but are respected and fast-rising in their field, like Peloton or Diamondback Energy. As their name suggests, mid-caps occupy a middle ground for investors: They may be riskier than large-caps, but are still relatively safe (certainly more so than the small-caps, from whose ranks they often spring). Their stock can be more volatile than large-caps', but it also may also have more potential for appreciation, as many of these companies are still actively growing. <h3>Small-cap valuation</h3>Small-cap companies are riskier still. Micro-caps are typically companies that have a market capitalization between $50 million and $300 million. Nano-caps are those with a market capitalization below $50 million. Since companies of different market-cap sizes vary in terms of their growth potential, income payments, and risk, spreading your investments among them is one way to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-diversify-portfolio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">balance your portfolio</a> between appreciation and income, between conservative and aggressive.Often, investors focus on a particular market cap segment. Some may choose to stick with the big, stable, large-caps — especially if they want to preserve their capital or derive income from their investments. Others may be attracted to the more volatile — and exciting — small-caps, especially if they have a long time horizon to weather volatility or like aggressive growth stocks.Cutting across industries and industrial sectors, each market cap group encompasses a big variety of companies and stocks. Still, analysts do note common tendencies and characteristics among stocks of similar market caps.For example, <a href="https://www.creighton.edu/faculty-directory-profile/2010/robert-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert R. Johnson</a>, Professor of <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="finance">Finance</keyword> at Creighton University, notes that small-caps may be more volatile than mid- and large-caps — but they tend to perform better. "From 1926 to 2019, large-cap stocks have provided average returns of 10.2% annually; small-cap stocks over the same time period provided annual returns of 11.9%," he says. It doesn't sound like much in percentage terms. However, "over many years, that difference is enormous: one dollar invested in large-caps at the end of 1925, with dividends reinvested, would have grown to $9,243.90. That same dollar invested in small-caps would have grown to $39,380.90.," Johnson notes."The bottom line is that small-cap stocks provide higher returns, on average — but that comes at the cost of greater risk."<h2>Market capitalization vs. market value</h2>You'll sometimes hear "market capitalization" used interchangeably with "market value." But they don't mean the same thing. Whereas market capitalization is a single, easy-to-calculate figure, market value is a more complex, amorphous characteristic that we try to estimate in a number of ways. As <a href="https://firstratedata.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ryan Maxwell</a>, COO at FirstRate Data, notes, "market value" is a generic term that refers to the value of an investment (such as a company's stock) as determined by a market (usually, the stock market). Reflecting investor sentiment, it might take into account company assets, fundamentals, and other factors. For example, Maxwell says, a company's enterprise value is another specific measure of a company's market value, one that considers its debt as well as its stock. Alongside market capitalization and enterprise valuation, investors will often use ratios such as price-to-earnings ratio, price-to-sales ratios, and return on equity to compare values between companies. "Everyone is working to measure a company's true market value," <a href="https://www.magnifina.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Asher Rogovy</a>, Chief Investment Officer at Magnifina, says. "Whoever understands the true value can profit by trading mispriced stocks. Market capitalization represents how investors, on average, estimate true market value. It's one indicator of market value and a great starting point for analysis."<h2>The financial takeaway</h2>Market capitalization is a way to measure what a company's worth is. Essentially the collective price of all of a company's outstanding shares, market capitalization tells us about the value that investors put on a company's stock. And that tells us, indirectly, about what we can expect from the company in terms of returns. Companies with lower market capitalization values may be riskier but can pay off big. Companies with greater market capitalizations probably will preserve your funds, but may not offer massive gains. If you're a more conservative investor, you may lean towards large-caps. And if you're looking for more of a gamble, small-caps might be for you.
