The company has already doubled its workforce to 2000 since last year, Vineet Rao, founder and chief executive officer of DealShare, told Business Insider. The hiring outlook is a part of DealShare’s plans to further strengthen its business this quarter by focusing on filling the gaps in the business in order to build a stronger offering. Simultaneously, the company plans to expand its business 3x and enter another 100 cities in this fiscal year (FY 22-23). “Because we were growing up so fast there have been lots and lots of problems that have also creeped in. In some places my assortment is not perfect the way it should be, people are not finding all the things that they should find in DealShare, in some places pricing and promotions are not right, in some places the inventory is not available as much as it should be,” Rao told Business Insider. DealShare serves more than 3 lakh orders per day across 1,000 pin codes spread over 150 cities in 10 states. The company believes that even with the expansion to 250 cities, a large part of their traffic would come from their existing 150 cities instead of the newly added 100 cities. The company also claims to have crossed a billion dollars in gross revenue run rate last month. DealShare has raised $393 million to date since its inception in 2018. The company was founded by Vineet Rao, Sourjyendu Medda, Sankar Bora and Rajat Shikar. It primarily focuses on sale of groceries and household essentials through social media and messaging platforms like WhatsApp. The Jaipur-based company entered the unicorn club earlier this year, after being <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/social-e-commerce-platform-dealshare-raises-45-million-from-adia/articleshow/89641250.cms">valued at $1.7 billion</a>. DealShare competes with other social commerce platforms like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/citymall-a-startup-that-helps-budding-entrepreneurs-start-their-ventures-on-whatsapp-has-raised-over-22-million/articleshow/83741383.cms">CityMall and BulBul</a>, among others. Looking beyond hiring, Dealshare has plans for inorganic growth, too The company is also looking to strengthen its business by acquiring 5-10 small brands, with their own manufacturing units, in an attempt to expand its offerings. Rao emphasised that they would be looking to acquire fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and staples companies majorly, but will also look at essential fashion. The four-year-old startup has not yet decided on an average ticket size yet as the deal size would depend on the acquired company. Rao noted that the transaction could go as low as ₹25 crore. The company is currently exploring options for debt to fund these acquisitions. Separately, DealShare also claims to always be on the lookout for acquiring companies that can further boost its operations like logistics or technology. The Jaipur-based startup claims to have over 1,000+ micro-entrepreneur partners registered on the platform, who help sell products online. The company targets to increase this figure to 5,000 by year end, DealShare’s chief operating officer and founder Sankar Bora previously said. Social commerce unicorn DealShare is now on a lookout to hire 1,500 employees, acquire 10 businesses this year

The company plans to nearly double its workforce from 4,000 to 9,000 people. The company has vacancies across multiple jobs roles like management trainees to senior managers across the tech, product, marketing and operations segments. The announcement comes only a few days after it raised<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/spinny-is-the-latest-used-car-platform-to-join-cars24-droom-and-cardekho-in-unicorn-club/articleshow/88140551.cms"> $283 million funding from marquee investors</a> like Abu Dhabi-based ADQ, Tiger Global, Avenir Growth and others. The used car platform hired most of its employees in the month of October this year, the company highlighted in a press release. According to their human resource data, 61% of their current employees are working from north India, 20% from south India and 19% from the west side of the country. Spinny was founded in 2015 by Niraj Singh, Mohit Gupta, Ramashu Mahaur and Ganesh Pawar. The company operates across the entire value chain of pre-owned cars, embedding superior technology and processes to deliver a premium experience to customers. The company has raised more than $530 million to date. On December 14, the company also announced its partnership with the cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, who is the strategic investor in the company as well as lead brand endorser. Earlier this week, Lattice announced it was bringing on a new CEO — former Salesforce executive Sarah Joyce Franklin — and that Altman would step down from his role and become executive chairman, eight years after founding the human-resources software startup.These past few years, Jack Altman, who is <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sam-altman-openai-chatgpt-worldcoin-helion-future-tech-2023-4">Sam Altman's</a> brother, led the enterprise unicorn through a period of rapid expansion, largely fueled by a tight labor market and rise of remote work, and then a restructuring as businesses — and Lattice's would-be customers — reined in their software spending. Now, Lattice is preparing for a new phase of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/allbirds-cofounder-startups-profitable-before-going-public-ipo-2023-11">sustainable growth</a>, according to company insiders.In an exclusive interview with Business Insider, Altman said he fell out of wanting to run a late-stage startup these past few years, as the challenges and scope of the work evolved. He told us he plans to return to his first love: the earliest stages of company-building."I love early stage — it's always what I've loved — and I happened to add another love," he said, referring to Lattice.He said he felt a "first inkling" of wanting to move on during the '"highest of highs," when the company was blitzscaling in 2021. He says as a company scales up, "the role of a CEO just changes dramatically."But the passion fizzled and he started to look for a successor after realizing he wasn't going to be able to give his "absolute everything to the company." A former employee of social commerce company Teespring, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/startup-paying-employees-100k-to-start-company-2021-12">Altman helped found Lattice in 2015</a> and built it into one of the most valuable startups in the human-resources space. The pandemic spurred a surge in demand as employers grappled with a changing workplace, catapulting Lattice from a luxury to a service seen by some people leaders as essential. In the heady days of 2021, Lattice <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hr-tech-startup-lattice-raises-series-f-funding-triples-valuation-2022-1">tripled its valuation</a> to $3 billion in a $175 million funding round.<h2>Lattice's crucible moment</h2>The funds largely paid for a new product that took a year and a half to develop, and reimagines how companies use Lattice. For most of its life, the company focused on point solutions — tools used to fix a particular problem — for tasks like performance reviews and workforce surveys. Then, in September, it launched an all-in-one human-resources information system — a database that collects and sorts all of the important information about employees, and feeds the right details to those point solutions and third-party apps. In time, the move may turn out to be the company's saving grace.Sales have slowed amid a dire situation in startup land. Companies that raised funding in 2021's frothy market <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/silicon-valley-fears-exctinction-event-startup-failure-rate-increase-2023-6">have less than 12 months of runway</a> in the bank. They're going back out to raise their next round, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/late-stage-startups-vc-lack-funding-forced-shut-down-2023-10">facing venture funds less willing to write checks</a>. And so executives are ruthlessly cutting costs to survive."Every CFO in the world is out there right now looking at every single software expense and just pruning," Altman said.For Lattice, the slowdown forced its own hard decisions. In January, the company laid off 105 employees, mostly recruiters and salespeople, ensuring the company "builds with efficiency and financial health more prominently in mind," he wrote in a <a target="_blank" href="https://lattice.com/blog/ceo-jack-altmans-email-to-lattice-employees">blog post</a> at the time.In her new role, Franklin will be responsible for shepherding the company through a crucible moment for business tools, as savings-savvy executives take a closer look at the money they're spending on software. They <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/2024-tech-trends-predictions-top-vcs">will try to negotiate costs</a> for services they want to renew, cancel others, and consolidate vendors. For Lattice, the silver lining is rising demand for services that bundle lots of point solutions, like Lattice HRIS."We had always known that the long-term path included being the system of record," Altman said. "In some ways, it's lucky that there's a downturn and that we have this [HRIS] because it's more important now. We'd still be better off — as all software companies would be — if we weren't in a downturn. The strategy includes spending less to acquire new customers for its more mature products and putting more resources behind growing the full-stack solution.Altman says the company doesn't need to fundraise right now. It's pulled in $330 million from investors to date and has "plenty of cash" in the tank, he added. Even as growth slows, the company is still generating revenue that covers a growing share of its expenses."The burn is reasonable and coming down," Altman said. "Hopefully we don't need to fundraise ever."<h2>Leadership shakeup</h2>Franklin is far from the only new face in Lattice's upper ranks.Lattice has quietly reshuffled the executive suite this year. A closer look at its website team page reveals the changes: It promoted Stephen Poletto, head of engineering, to chief technology officer in February; in March, it hired Eric Schuchman as chief product officer and Stan Massueras as a general manager overseeing its international business; Elizabeth Walton Egan arrived in May to take over the role of chief marketing officer. And previous CFO Josh Brown left this fall as Cortes, who previously worked in finance at Workday, stepped in.Altman's Lattice cofounder, Eric Koslow, left in 2022 to pursue a new venture in the video content-creation space.According to Altman, the shakeup marks a successful transition of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/comparably-large-companies-highly-rated-leadership-teams-2022-7">executive teams</a> for the first time in the company's eight-year history. He said some of the outgoing executives wanted to join earlier-stage companies or start their own; some of them may have stayed in their positions longer than they ordinarily would have because business was taking off in the post-pandemic tech boom.<h2>Lattice isn't exploring an IPO</h2>Slowing growth. Focus on profits. New leadership. Some people might suggest these changes all-together indicate that Lattice may be bracing itself to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/a-lackluster-return-for-tech-ipos-2023-9">go public when the market reopens</a>. The company wouldn't be the first to supplant its founder with a more seasoned executive who can ready the firm for a public offering. The board of Instacart replaced founder and chief executive <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/instacart-founder-apoorva-mehta-ipo-2023-9">Apoorva Mehta</a> with Fidji Simo of Facebook following a messy dispute with investors.However, Altman denied that a public offering is imminent. Lattice, which was last valued at $3 billion, is a much smaller company than software firms like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/instacart-klaviyo-profitable-lead-tech-ipo-revival-2023-8">Instacart and Klaviyo that took the plunge</a> this year, says Altman. The <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/a-lackluster-return-for-tech-ipos-2023-9">market's tepid response</a> to those offerings has likely deterred other candidates from wading into the markets.Lattice is not yet <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/allbirds-cofounder-startups-profitable-before-going-public-ipo-2023-11">profitable</a>, which has emerged as a key ingredient for going public."There are certain markets you would IPO Lattice into right now," Altman said. <ul><li><keyword id="1836134" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Icertis">Icertis</keyword>, which caters to the likes of <keyword id="6354427" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple">Apple</keyword>, Airbus, <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> and Best Buy, plans to increase its headcount by 30% to 40% in 2021. </li><li>Most of this hiring will be done for engineering and sales. </li><li>The uptake of employees comes as Icertis’ looks to move beyond its enterprise clients and focus on the mid-market segment. </li></ul>Icertis, the billion-dollar unicorn based out of Pune in India, which manages contracts for bigwigs like Apple, Airbus, Microsoft and Best Buy has plans to increase its headcount by at least 30% in 2021. Over the last year, the company has added over 300 employees globally, with at least 50 being hired from Indian campuses. Before 2020 comes to an end, Icertis intends to add another 200 employees to its <a href="https://www.owler.com/company/icertis#:~:text=Icertis%20has%201%2C300%20employees%20and,among%20it's%20top%2010%20competitors.">1,300-strong</a> headcount. “We’ll continue to hire aggressively to support our growth and expect to increase our headcount 30% to 40% in the next year,” co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Icertis, Monish Darda, told Business Insider in an exclusive interview. This means onboarding at least 450 new faces in 2021. The development at a time when the startup has plan to shift its focus on bringing more mid-market customers. The challenge there is that it takes at least 10 to 15 clients from that segment to bring the same amount of revenue as an enterprise client. Software companies need to sell For those who aren’t familiar with Icertis, the startup used artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to manage contracts on the cloud. Rather than keep track of compliance or payments on paper, everything is managed automatically by the company’s <keyword id="10399864" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="contract-intelligence">contract intelligence</keyword> software-as-a-service (SaaS). And, as a SaaS company, Darda believes being able to sell your product is a necessity for growth. “If you cannot sell, that’s the end of the company when you’re smaller… The ability to sell is critical for any company especially for an enterprise Saas company which is dependent on companies renewing every year — it’s not a perpetual license,” he explained. On the hunt for hunters and farmers According to Darda, there are two types of salespeople — hunters and farmers. Hunters go out and convince the customer to buy new software like Icertis. Farmers, on the other hand, reach out to clients that already have Icertis and grow the business by uncovering new ways and new value for the customer. “When we hire, we hire at different levels. Experienced people for large accounts and people who may be capable of doing that a mid-level. This allows you to expand that pyramid and sell better,” explained Darda. Former Airbus and BMW procurement honcho <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/icertis-adds-former-airbus-and-bmw-chief-procurement-officer-dr-klaus-richter-to-board-of-advisors-301178658.html">Klaus Richter</a>, for instance, has recently joined Icertis’ advisory board and can be profiled as a hunter. “He brings in a lot of raw experience into the company in how to cater to large deals,” according to Darda. The freshers come in on the analytics side of sales. Their role is to rummage through raw data to figure out how sales are performing and what lies ahead to improve the efficiency of sales. When Darda first joined Icertis, the first line of code he wrote was on Azure. And, the entire company is built on the cloud. According to him, cloud development is a skill that people have or don’t have. Candidates need to be able to think ten steps ahead and be proficient at what’s called ‘defensive programming’. “How do you think about a problem and how do you solve a problem? Do you take care of what will happen under five different scenarios,” he explained. And, since Icertis is a contract ‘intelligence’ company the value of having the basic computer skills to navigate the Microsoft Stack and the AI/ML stack, which consists of languages like R and Python, is a bare necessity. Icertis was among the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/iit-roorkee-receives-7-international-offers-until-day-3-of-placement/articleshow/79547532.cms">seven international companies</a> to dole out a placement offer at IIT Roorkee. And, the secret sauce to getting selected — more than the clout of being good at coding — is ‘elasticity’. “The most important aspect that we look for is elasticity — how can people learn, especially when we’re hiring young people fresh out of college with very little industry experience,” said Darda. The hiring activity in India's white-collar professional segment, remained steady in May and witnessed multi-sectoral growth across sectors such as real estate, banking, oil and gas and pharma, a report said on Thursday. According to the <keyword id="4078822" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naukri-jobspeak-index" source="Orion">Naukri JobSpeak Index</keyword>, the job postings for <keyword id="15460574" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="white-collar-hiring" source="Orion">white collar hiring</keyword> in May 2023 was at 2,849, as against 2,863 in May 2022. The relatively flat growth in index masks strong divergence in hiring trends across different sectors and geographies, said the report. The Naukri JobSpeak Index is a monthly Index representing the state of the Indian job market and hiring activity based on new job listings and job-related searches by recruiters on the resume database of <keyword id="218117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Naukri-com" source="Orion">Naukri.com</keyword>. It said that while the oil and gas sector clearly emerged as a hiring hotspot with a remarkable 31 per cent increase in the new jobs compared to last year, the hiring activity in the IT sector stayed at 23 per cent below its level in May 2022. "The multi-sectoral growth in white-collar hiring across sectors such as real estate, banking, oil and gas and pharma reflect the evolving and diversified nature of the <keyword id="6356076" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-economy" source="Orion">Indian economy</keyword>." The report further said that the IT industry hiring remained an area of concern. "The decline in hiring was witnessed across all types of IT companies including global tech giants, large IT services companies, tech-focused startups, and unicorns," said the report. Cities with heavy presence of IT-focused companies, such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune, were the hardest hit. Notwithstanding these challenges, niche roles such as Machine Learning Engineers and Big Data Engineers showed positive hiring trends, bucking the negative trend across most other tech roles. Besides IT, sectors such as retail, education, insurance, and BPO also showed cautious hiring sentiments with a dip of 21 per cent, 16 per cent, 15 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively, in hiring trends during May compared to the corresponding month in 2022. In contrast, the real estate and banking sectors continued to show positive hiring sentiments, registering 22 per cent and 14 per cent growth in hiring activities, respectively, compared to May last year. The Pharma sector emerged as another bright spot, recording a respectable 11% growth in hiring activity compared to May last year, the report said adding that automobiles and hospitality were some of the other sectors witnessing positive hiring sentiments with 10 per cent and 8 per cent growth in the new jobs created compared to a year-ago. Non-metro cities emerged as new hiring trendsetters, led by Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Jaipur primarily driven by banking and auto sectors. On the other hand, hiring activity stayed flat or declined marginally in large metros, except Mumbai and Delhi. Indian ‘green’ blockchain startup raises $100 million, turns unicorn in a crypto bear market

<keyword id="6355629" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="google" source="Orion">Google</keyword> on Tuesday announced its <keyword id="14193636" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups-accelerator-programme" source="Orion">startups accelerator programme</keyword> that will nurture about 20 startups led by women founders in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. The programme is aimed to help women founders address challenges that are unique to their experience, including fundraising, hiring and many others. The inaugural batch of Google for <keyword id="8826137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups-Accelerator" source="Orion">Startups Accelerator</keyword> - India Women Founders programme will accept up to 20 women-founded/ co-founded startups in India, including startups at the minimum viable product stage, and support them through a three-month programme. The programme will place special focus on areas like access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorship and many others which, for a variety of social reasons and low representation, prove challenging for female founders. In addition to these, the curriculum will include workshops and support around AI/ML, Cloud, UX, android, web, product strategy and growth, as well as provide access to a global community of women founders. India is the world's third largest startup capital, trailing only the US and China. It boasts over a 100 unicorns with 22 getting added to the list just in 2022, spanning verticals such as e-commerce, healthtech, fintech and many others. However, only 15 per cent of these <keyword id="3357129" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-unicorns" source="Orion">Indian unicorns</keyword> have one or more women founders. Around eight out of 13 cities saw an annual growth in hiring in July. Out of metro cities, Mumbai registered the highest number of hiring. After Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai did well with an increase of 8%, 6% and 4% respectively. Bengaluru and Jaipur noted a marginal dip in the hiring activity in the last month this year. "After months of uncertainty, the Indian job market has stabilized with hiring demand holding up in July, as anticipated.
