<ul class="summary-list"><li>Emmy-nominated costume designer <keyword id="14206396" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="joseph-la-corte" source="Orion">Joseph La Corte</keyword> spoke to Insider about "<keyword id="14206394" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="under-the-banner-of-heaven" source="Orion">Under the Banner of Heaven</keyword>."</li><li>The series stars <keyword id="14206395" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="daisy-edgar-jones" source="Orion">Daisy Edgar-Jones</keyword> and <keyword id="12055601" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="andrew-garfield" source="Orion">Andrew Garfield</keyword>, and follows a murder in a Mormon community.</li></ul><p>"Under the Banner of Heaven" <a href="http://www.josephlacorte.nyc/">costume designer Joseph La Corte</a> told Insider that star Daisy Edgar-Jones would often "have to shoot being a teen, pregnant mom or post–mom in a single day."</p><p>The FX series follows the murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty (Edgar-Jones) in a Mormon community and chronicles Brenda's life from her adolescence through to her tragic death.</p><p>"We were fortunate enough to get a hold of some Brenda Wright Lafferty's family photo albums so we got a really clear picture of what she looked like but, more importantly, who she was, because in so many of the pictures, she was surrounded by people just having a good time," La Corte told Insider.</p><div type="image" title="Daisy Edgar-Jones (far left) in &quot;Under the Banner of Heaven&quot;" height="1707" width="2560" msid="92236579" hostid="261"></div><p>"There were very few pictures of just Brenda, unless it was, like, a school shot. She just was this person everyone wanted to be around and talk [to] and we get to see her whole arc from being a teen to post-motherhood," he continued.</p><p>La Corte explained that because of Brenda's journey in the series, there was "lots to tackle" when portraying her at different stages of her life.</p><p>The costume designer told Insider that "often Daisy would have to shoot being a teen, pregnant mom or post–mom in a single day." Because of this, La Corte came up with "different paddings that we had to be able to do for [Daisy]."</p><div type="image" title="Daisy Edgar-Jones in &quot;Under the Banner of Heaven" height="630" width="1200" msid="92236581" hostid="261"></div><p>When viewers are first introduced to Brenda she's participating in a teen pageant, dressed in a distinct canary yellow dress. La Corte says that such a memorable first impression was entirely intentional.</p><p>"That just came out of here," he told Insider, pointing to his head. "I did a lot of research and watched a lot of really grainy home videos of Midwest pageants back in the day. We wanted to pick a color that would really make Daisy pop and in a silhouette that just made her feel pure and draw you right into her."</p><p>"We tried the silhouette in a couple of colors but we ultimately ended on the yellow," he continued. <ul class="summary-list"><li>In 1997, a group of teenage girls, later dubbed the "Shoreline Six," attacked 14-year-old Reena Virk.</li><li>Nicole Cook started the assault, which ended in two others killing Virk. </li></ul><p>Hulu's true crime thriller "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/under-the-bridge-reena-virk-killers-now-2024-4">Under the Bridge</a>" focuses on a fictional version of the writer Rebecca Godfrey (Riley Keough) as she investigates the murder of Canadian teenager Reena Virk (Viritka Gupta).</p><p>In 1997, a group of teenagers, later nicknamed the "Shoreline Six" by the press, assaulted Virk in Saanich, British Columbia.</p><p>After Virk escaped, Warren Glowatski (Javon Walton) and Kelly Ellard (Izzy G) followed her and continued the assault before drowning her in the Victoria Gorge waterway.<strong> </strong>They were later tried as adults, and both received life sentences.</p><p>The Shoreline Six included Ellard, as well as Nicole Cook, Nicole Patterson, Courtney Keith, and Gail Ooms, as well as Virk's best friend, Missy Grace Pleich who were all charged with assault.</p><p>Hulu has quietly become a prolific true crime creator, and "Under the Bridge" follows similarly popular shows including "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-act-hulu-cast-vs-real-people-gypsy-rose-blanchard-2019-3">The Act</a>," "Under the Banner of Heaven," and "Candy." It's likely a response to Netflix's huge output of buzzy dramatizations and documentaries, and it has continued to dominate with projects including "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/matthew-muller-denise-huskins-kidnapper-american-nightmare-netflix-gone-girl-2024-1">American Nightmare</a>" and "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/baby-reindeer-explained-martha-scott-real-stalker-true-story-2024-4">Baby Reindeer</a>."</p><h2><strong>Nicole Cook started the attack by putting a cigarette out on Virk's face</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Chloe Guidry as Josephine Bell and Lily Gladstone as Cam Bentland in &quot;Under the Bridge.&quot;" height="652" width="869" msid="109761359" hostid="261" sizebytes="24032"></div><p>Several teenagers who initially attacked Virk at the riverside party were given new names for the series, including Cook — who is called Josephine Bell (Chloe Guidry) in the show.</p><p>This was the name given to Cook by Godfrey for her 2017 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.vice.com/en/article/qvpqa7/the-unforgettable-story-of-a-bc-teen-murdered-by-her-peers">Vice</a> article about the incident as a way of protecting her identity since she was a teenager when it happened.</p><p>Cook has only given one interview about Virk's murder. In 2011, she told "<a target="_blank" href="https://archive.org/details/MSNBCW_20111030_210000_Bloodlust_Under_the_Bridge/start/2220/end/2280">Dateline"</a> that she was the ringleader of the attack, which she started by putting out her cigarette on Virk's face. Then the group of girls — Pleich, Ellard, Patterson, Keith, and Ooms, joined in to repeatedly punch and kick the teenager.</p><p>On "Dateline," Cook claimed that she took revenge on Virk after she started harassing her friends. "I left my phone book at her house, and she called a bunch of people," she recalled. "She was very insecure. I didn't really want to hang out with her anymore because it seemed like she was jealous of me."</p><p>Cook also suggested that Virk spread rumors about her, saying: "Like my eyes were contacts, or my boobs were fake. I couldn't understand why she would do that. I was so angry."</p><p>In the 2017 Vice article about the murder, Godfrey also claimed Virk told several boys that Cook had AIDs.</p><h2><strong>The Shoreline Six were charged with assault</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Viritka Gupta as Reena Virk in &quot;Under the Bridge.&quot;" height="1000" width="1333" msid="109761362" hostid="261" sizebytes="27156"></div><p>Although Cook started the assault by burning Virk with her cigarette, she told "Dateline": "I'm not responsible for her death, in any way, shape, or form."</p><p>The Shoreline Six were each<strong> </strong>charged with assault in juvenile court, <a target="_blank" href="https://vancouversun.com/news/crime/reena-virk-murder-nearly-two-decades-ago-greater-victoria-lost-its-innocence">Vancouver Sun reported</a>.</p><p>They were given sentences that varied from 60-day custodial sentences to one year in juvenile detention. However, it's not clear who was given which sentence.</p><p>Cook and Pleich were the only ones who were interviewed on "Dateline" about the incident, and the others have stayed out of the spotlight.</p><p>According to a <a target="_blank" href="https://tcfottawa.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/vanc-island-news-ltr-spring-2016.pdf">Vancouver Island newsletter</a>, a young woman named Gail Ooms died in 2001 due to a rare heart condition, but it isn't clear if this is the same person who was part of the Shoreline Six.</p>

The former vice president called Trump's suggestion "despicable." </p><p>"For the president to try to put any other words in the mouth of George Floyd I frankly think is despicable," Biden said at the beginning of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSe0mTsXwqw">a speech</a> he delivered Friday afternoon. </p><p>The economy added 2.5 million jobs in May, bringing the unemployment rate down to 13.3% from the 14.7% rate in April — an unexpectedly strong month amid the economic crisis. </p><p>In his Friday press conference, Trump took a victory lap on the economy, boasted about the US recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has now killed over 105,000 Americans, and spoke about the issue of racial justice and police brutality. </p><p>While speaking extemporaneously, Trump said he hoped Floyd was "looking down right now" and celebrating the progress the country is making.</p><p>"Equal justice under the law must mean that every American receives equal treatment in every encounter with law enforcement regardless of race, color, gender, or creed," Trump said. "We all saw what happened last week. We can't let that happen. Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying this is a great thing that's happening for our country. It's a great day for him, it's a great day for everybody ... this is a great day in terms of equality." </p><p>It's unclear what the president was referring to when he said that Friday was a "great day in terms of equality." The White House <a href="https://twitter.com/_WilliamsonBen/status/1268948900620242944">insisted</a> on Friday that Trump was referring to "the fight for equal justice and equal treatment under the law," rather than the jobs report. </p><p>The president went on to say that his "plan" to deal with systemic <keyword id="44060" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Racism">racism</keyword> in America is building a strong economy.</p><p>"We had the strongest economy anywhere in the world, and now we're going to have an economy that's even stronger," he said. </p><p>Unemployment among Black Americans is at 16.8% — the highest level in more than 10 years. </p><p>Biden said he was "disappointed" to see Trump "basically hanging a 'Mission Accomplished' banner out there" even as the coronavirus continues to ravage the country and tens of millions of Americans remain unemployed. </p><p>"These are some of the sternest challenges the country has ever faced and Donald Trump is patting himself on the back," Biden said during his speech on Friday. "He just has no idea, in my view, what is going on in this country. <p class="source"><span>Reuters/Louise Heavens</span></p><p class="caption">Inside the new Amazon Go grocery store in Seattle.</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>Amazon is opening its first cashierless grocery store in Seattle on Tuesday.</li><li>The new location, which falls under the Amazon Go banner, will sell fresh produce, meat, seafood, bread, and ready-made meals among other things.</li><li>Existing Amazon Go stores are more like convenience stores, carrying grab-and-go sandwiches and snacks, so the move represents an expansion of its offering.</li><li>Amazon is making <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-changes-grocery-shopping-in-2020-new-chain-2020-2?r=US&amp;IR=T">significant strides in the grocery space and working hard to grow</a> its reach beyond Whole Foods, which it acquired in 2017. </li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>Amazon is opening its doors at a new Amazon Go location in Seattle on Tuesday.</p><p>The new 10,000-square-foot store will be run in the same way as its sister locations - offering a cashierless shopping experience for its customers.</p><p>The major difference here is that this will be the first full-line Amazon Go grocery store of its kind. </p><p>A representative for the company confirmed to Business Insider that the store will sell fresh produce, meat, seafood, bread, and ready-made meals among other things. It will also stock beer, wine, and spirits. </p><p>"We offer a mix of organic and conventional items from well-known brands, along with special finds and local favorites," a spokesperson said in a press release sent out early Tuesday.</p><p class="source"><span>Reuters/Louise Heavens</span></p><p>This is a significant step up from its existing Amazon Go stores, which are essentially convenience stores, stocking a mix of grab-and-go breakfast and lunch food as well as snacks. Those stores are located in the center of major cities and tailored to busy office workers located nearby. </p><p>Amazon opened its first Amazon Go store in 2018, two years after it made public its plans for a futuristic new store. hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Between the France and UK pavilions, there's a second, lesser-known guest entrance to Epcot that leads straight into the World Showcase.</p><p>It's known as the </p><h2><strong>Guests can go inside the Stave Church in the Norway pavilion</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="norway epcot" height="1797" width="2404" msid="79116028" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>As guests enter the Norway pavilion, the Stave Church is one of the first things they'll see.</p><p>Many people think this small building is just there for decorative purposes, <a href="https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/epcot/stave-church-gallery/">but it's actually a gallery</a> that features artifacts from Norway and tells the story of the Norse gods.</p><h2><strong>Epcot has a small set of underground tunnels</strong></h2><p>Some people know about the <a href="https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/67485/inside-disney-worlds-secret-tunnels">underground "Utilidor" system</a> at the<a His speech backhanded the Confederacy and directly addressed the horrific and hypocritical nature of slavery in a free country.</p><p>The day's organizers had named Everett the main attraction - no one even knew for sure if Lincoln would attend the dedication. Everett, also a former senator and president of Harvard, had every reason to believe he'd steal the show. He wrote a two-hour speech, full of beautiful language and logic, that explained the significance and the tragedy of the Battle of Gettysburg, the standoff during the Civil War with the most causalities, often thought of as a turning point.
