The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.23% lower, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 66 points. These are the stocks to watch out for during the trading session today: TVS Motor The members of the $8.5 billion TVS family decided to restructure the ownership of various companies, a measure which does not involve payment of brand royalty to the family members or their holding companies. The share price of TVS Motor closed 0.42% lower on Thursday. IRCTC The offer-for-sale for the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) was subscribed nearly two times on day by the non-retail investors. The retail investors will get a chance to bid for IRCTC offer-for-sale (OFS) today. The government is planning to sell up to 20% stake in IRCTC through OFS which opened for subscription on Thursday. The share price of IRCTC closed 12% lower on Thursday. HDFC Bank The private lender HDFC Bank informed exchanges that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had imposed a monetary penalty of ₹10 lakh on the bank for bouncing of subsidiary general ledger (SGL). This led to a shortage of balance in certain securities in the Bank’s CSGL account on November 19, it said. The share price of HDFC Bank closed 2% lower on Thursday. Dalmia Bharat, UltraTech Cement, ACC, Ambuja Cements and Shree Cement According to <a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/india/cci-searches-offices-of-major-cement-cos-11607621552574.html">reports</a>, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has conducted searches on the premises UltraTech Cement, ACC, Ambuja Cements, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) and Shree Cement, among others to find evidence of price collusion. United Spirits United Spirits, a part of global liquor giant Diageo appointed Hina Nagarajan as the company’s new CEO with effect from July 1, 2021. Incumbent Anand Kripalu will step down on June 30. The share price of United Spirits closed 2% higher on Thursday. TCS Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it plans to invest more than $100 million in Austin and hire 1,000 new employees across Texas. TCS has expanded its business operations in Austin, Texas with the construction of a new facility, doubling its presence to more than 400 professionals in the city and adding to its over 5,500 employees across the state. The share price of TCS closed 1% lower on Thursday. Mahindra &amp; Mahindra ICRA has reaffirmed Mahindra &amp; Mahindra rating of non-convertible debenture programme of ₹1,500 crore to stable. It has also assigned a stable rating to long-term loans worth ₹1,800 crore. The share price of Mahindra &amp; Mahindra closed 3% lower on Thursday. Canara Bank Canara Bank said it had approved the issue price at ₹103.50 per share for its qualified institutional placement (QIP) to raise ₹2,000 crore. Earlier this week, the bank had set the floor price for the issue at ₹103.50 apiece. The share price of Canara Bank closed 5% lower on Thursday. Jash Engineering The pump and pumping equipment manufacturing company, Jash Engineering received orders worth ₹20.65 crore in November. The share price of Jash Engineering closed 2% lower on Thursday. Shares of <keyword id="20415123" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Cements" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="India Cements" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="India Cements">India Cements</keyword> Ltd jumped nearly 14 per cent on Thursday morning after leading <keyword id="6378916" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cement" source="Orion">cement</keyword> maker <keyword id="19963567" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="UltraTech-Cement" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="UltraTech Cement" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="UltraTech Cement">UltraTech Cement</keyword> said it will acquire around 23 per cent stake in the Chennai-based firm for up to Rs 1,885 crore. The stock soared 13.70 per cent to hit 52-week high of Rs 299 on the BSE. On the NSE, the stock climbed 13.77 per cent to Rs 298.80 -- its 52-week high. Shares of UltraTech Cement also jumped 6.51 per cent to hit the one-year peak of Rs 11,875.95 on the BSE. The board of directors of the company at its meeting held on Thursday approved "making a financial investment to purchase up to 7.06 crore equity shares of the India Cements Ltd," a regulatory filing by UltraTech Cement said. The deal would be at "at a price of up to Rs 267 per share," and this non-controlling financial investment constitutes around 23 per cent of the equity share capital of India Cements, the filing said. India Cements' turnover for financial year 2023-24 stood at Rs 5,112 crore. UltraTech Cement has a consolidated capacity of 152.7 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of grey cement. It has 24 integrated manufacturing units, 33 grinding units, one clinkerisation unit and 8 bulk packaging terminals.

India Cements' shares jump nearly 14%, UltraTech Cement soars 6.50% following acquisition news

New Delhi, Nov 14 () Aditya Birla Group's flagship firm Grasim Industries on Thursday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,472.77 crore for the July-September period helped by good performance of its subsidiaries UltraTech Cement and Aditya Birla Capital.
 Grasim Industries had reported a net loss of Rs 1,319.79 crore in the September quarter a year ago, Grasim Industries said in a BSE filing.
Its revenue from operation was at Rs 18,430.27 crore, up 3 per cent, during the quarter under review as against Rs 17,892.42 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
"Consolidated EBITDA at Rs 3,180 crore recorded a growth of 7 per cent Y-o-Y and PAT (before exceptional items and one-time deferred tax benefit) was up by 6 per cent Y-o-Y to Rs 639 crore driven by superior performance of the company's subsidiaries, UltraTech Cement Limited and Aditya Birla Capital Limited.
Grasim Industries' total expenses were at Rs 17,069.81 crore during the period as against Rs 16,541.52 crore, up 3.19 per cent.
Its revenue from Viscose segment was at Rs 2,431.42 crore, down 6.67 per cent, to Rs 2,605.36 crore of Q2/FY 2018-19.
"The weakness in the domestic VSF realisations impacted this quarter's profitability. The benefit of falling input costs like pulp prices will get reflected in the coming quarters due to inventory time lag," said Grasim Industries.
While, its cement business UltraTech' revenue was at Rs 9,620.47 crore, up 4.01 per cent, as against Rs 9,249.26 crore.
"UltraTech completed the acquisition of Century Textiles and Industries cement business... With this acquisition, UltraTech's cement manufacturing capacity stands augmented to 117.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), including its overseas capacity. This makes UltraTech the 3rd largest cement company in the world, outside of China," the company said.
Revenue from Chemicals during the quarter was at Rs 1,347.30 crore, down 16.44 per cent, as against Rs 1,612.38 crore.
"Softening of Caustic Soda prices globally has led to decline in the domestic prices, resulting in lower profitability on YoY basis," said Grasim.
While its Financial Services segment revenue reported a 12.72 per cent increase at Rs 3,960.86 crore during the period from Rs 3,513.59 crore a year ago.
Revenue from others segment was at Rs 1,305.60 crore, up 13.32 per cent, as against Rs 1,152.10 crore.
On the outlook, Grasim said its VSF business will continue to focus on expanding the market in India and its chemical business is under an expansion mode for both chlor-alkali and specialty chemicals. 
On UltraTech, it said: "The company with its presence across the country is the best positioned to take advantage of the revival in cement demand, despite the anomalies that may get created in demand patterns in some parts of the country due to extraneous reasons."
"Grasim is incurring capex to increase capacities across its key business lines and is potentially well positioned to leverage the next phase of the economic growth," the company said.
 Shares of Grasim Industries Ltd on Thursday settled at Rs 734.30 apiece on the BSE, down 0.64 per cent from the previous close. KRH MKJ

The BSE index was trading 0.52% higher at 38,636.36; while the Nifty was up 0.57% at 11,436.65. Kotak Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising around 4%, followed by Asian Paints, HDFC duo, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI. On the other hand, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, PowerGrid, Titan, Infosys and TCS were among the laggards. Eicher Motors gains 8% on the stock split date Eicher Motors gained over 8% as its stock split comes into effect from today. The board earlier approved a stock split of existing one equity share of the face value of ₹10 per share into ten equity shares of the face value of ₹1 each. ICICI Lombard up over 1% ICICI Lombard General Insurance gained nearly a percent during early trade hours on Monday after the company said it would acquire Bharti AXA General Insurance operations in a share swap deal. The shareholders of Bharti AXA will receive two shares of ICICI Lombard for every 115 shares of Bharti AXA, as per the share exchange ratio recommended by independent valuers. Minda Industries down nearly 3% Minda Industries shares slid nearly 3% after the company said it incurred a loss of ₹118.3 crore in the first quarter ended June 3. The revenue was down sharply from ₹1,439.7 crore to ₹417.1 crore in Q1. Balaji Telefilms opens 4% higher Balaji Telefilms shares gained nearly 4% after the government announced standard operating procedures (SOPs) for resuming shooting of films and TV programmes. Future Retail down nearly 4% The shares of Kishore Biyani-led Future Retail were down nearly 4% as the company faces a debt repayment deadline after missing an interest payment of $14 million in July. The 30-day grace period also ended on August 22. Reliance Industries up over 1% RIL gained nearly a percent after the company concluded amalgamation and merger amongst its wholly-owned subsidiaries Reliance Holdings USA into Reliance Energy Generation and Distribution. Merger entity Reliance Energy and Distribution has further merged into RIL. Union Bank gains nearly 3% Union Bank shares were up nearly 3% after the bank reported a 48.3% increase in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30. The bank’s total income grew by 101.2% YoY to ₹19,891.26 crore.
