According to a tweet by the creators, <keyword id="13659558" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="input-output" source="Orion">Input Output</keyword> (IOHK), from yesterday, there have been nearly 900 new projects on the Cardano network so far. The total value locked in Cardano’s projects, reached an all time high of $188 million on March 14, according to crypto tracking website <a href="https://defillama.com/chain/Cardano">DeFillama</a>. At the time of writing, the website showed that the <keyword id="3741123" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tvl" source="Orion">TVL</keyword> on Cardano had touched $223 million. The TVL of a protocol shows the total amount of crypto assets that have been put into the projects built using the protocol. More the number of projects, more the TVL of a project. Cardano is also amongst the few pure proof-of-stake (PoS) networks available right now. Which are supposed to be more environmentally effective than proof-of-work systems used by the Bitcoin protocol. According to Solana’s <a href="https://solanaproject.com/#/">own tracker</a>, the total value locked in decentralized finance (DeFI) projects built on the platform is $6,951,888,414.06. The platform ranks SolFarm, SerumDex, Raydium and Orca amongst the top five projects on the network. DeFillama confirms the same as well. On the other hand, the BNB Chain has over 1200 projects, according to <a href="https://bnbproject.org/#/">tracking website</a> BNBProjects.org. The TVL of the platform is well over $15 billion, topping both Cardano and Solana. DeFillama pegs this one at $13.18 billion, which is still significantly more than the TVL of Cardano. The allegedly fraudulent scheme was meant to increase a key metric for cryptocurrency Solana in 2021. US authorities are looking into a web of crypto projects circulating Saber, per CoinDesk, including a De-Fi yield-farming app Sunny Aggregator and a stablecoin project Cashio that lost millions of dollars in a hack last March. The DOJ and Saber Labs did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. "The metric to optimize for in Summer 2021 was [total value locked (TVL)]" Ian Macalinao wrote in an unpublished blog discovered by CoinDesk. Terra is the second-biggest DeFi player in the crypto market, but it may be overvalued
