Sony Pictures Networks India revamps organizational structure, announces key leadership changes

New Delhi, The <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> Friday directed the government to ensure that all steps be taken to implement its decision to forego interest on eight specified <keyword id="10342500" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="categories-of-loans">categories of loans</keyword> paid upto ₹2 crore in view of the coronavirus pandemic. A bench headed by Justice <keyword id="247734" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashok-Bhushan">Ashok Bhushan</keyword> said the COVID-19 pandemic has not only caused serious threat to the health of the people but has also cast its shadow on the <keyword id="47276" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Economic-growth">economic growth</keyword> of the country as well as other countries in the entire world. The eight categories of loans are MSME (Micro, Small &amp; Medium Enterprises), Education, Housing, Consumer durable, Credit card, Automobile, Personal and Consumption. "Due to lockdown imposed by <keyword id="1576501" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Government-of-India">the Government of India</keyword> in exercise of powers under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, there can be no denial that most of the businesses including private sector as well as public sector has been adversely affected. "For several months, large number of industries were not allowed to function and exemptions were granted only to few of the industries to run and carry on its activities, which were found essential and necessary in the fact situation," the bench, also comprising Justices R S Reddy and M R Shah, said. Although, gradually, due to Unlock- 1, 2 and 3, the industries and other business activities have been restored and the economy of the country is on track, although at a slow pace, it said. The apex court noted that moratorium period as granted by the Reserve Bank of India have continued from March 3 to August 31 for the period of six months. It noted the submission of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that measures taken by the Centre in exercise of jurisdiction under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to mitigate the hardships and miseries of few sectors. "As noted above, senior advocate Rajiv Dutta, counsel for the petitioner has expressed its satisfaction on the measures taken by the Government of India redressing grievances of the petitioner to the extent as noted above. "We dispose of the present writ petition with directions to the respondents to ensure that all steps be taken to implement the decision... so that benefit as contemplated by the Government of India percolates to those for whom financial benefits have been envisaged and extended," it said. The RBI had on March 27 issued the circular which allowed lending institutions to grant a moratorium on payment of instalments of term loans falling due between March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020, due to the pandemic. Later, the moratorium was extended till August 31 this year. The pleas pertained to charging of interest on interest by banks on EMIs which have not been paid by borrowers after availing the loan moratorium scheme of RBI during March 1 to August 31. The top court's judgement came on a PIL filed by Agra resident Gajendra Sharma seeking directions to declare the notification dated March 27, 2020 issued by Reserve Bank of India as ultra vires to the extent it charges interest on the loan amount during the moratorium period. SC directs govt to implement its decision to forego interest on eight categories of loans

<ul><li>More than a dozen doctors employed with technology major <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword> for its healthcare and life sciences practice in Mumbai have volunteered to be a part of a telephonic helpline for addressing questions on COVID-19.</li><li>The participation from Cognizant employees has expanded the helpline's reach across marginalised communities and areas with limited access to medical expertise. </li><li>The US-based company's healthcare and life sciences business revenue was about USD 4.7 billion and accounted for 28% of its overall topline for 2019.</li></ul>More than a dozen doctors employed with technology major Cognizant for its healthcare and life sciences practice in Mumbai have volunteered to be a part of a telephonic helpline for addressing questions on COVID-19.The <keyword id="8934534" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19-helpline">COVID-19 helpline</keyword> has been set up by a group of physicians, led by Mumbai-based consulting physician Tushar Shah, to contain fear, panic and speculation by providing people with relevant, non-prescriptive information. "Responding to the COVID-19 crisis has put frontline healthcare personnel under a severe strain. Our helpline is an attempt to ease the pressure on hospitals and doctors, enable those in need to get treatment on priority, and equip citizens with useful and accurate medical information," Shah said. He added that the participation from Cognizant employees has expanded the helpline's reach across marginalised communities and areas with limited access to medical expertise. Before joining the helpline team, Cognizant's doctor volunteers took a two-week virtual training from Shah on various aspects of running a helpline, such as gathering information from callers, reading symptoms, and responding to various types of questions. Cognizant has over 2,700 medical professionals globally, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists who provide critical services such as pharmacovigilance, clinical data management, medical management and claims management, among others, to healthcare and life sciences organisations globally. The US-based company's healthcare and life sciences business revenue was about USD 4.7 billion and accounted for 28% of its overall topline for 2019. Under Cognizant's employee-led volunteering program Outreach, Cognizant employees are supporting several governmental and non-governmental organisations across India on COVID-19 initiatives. The company has about two lakh employees in India. Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Chairman and Managing Director at Cognizant India said most questions to date on the helpline have been about likely symptoms, self-isolation, diet, hygiene and testing of COVID-19. "Through the helpline, Cognizant volunteers have been able to provide non-prescriptive advice to marginalised and underserved communities as well," he added. Similarly, KONE Elevator India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Finland-based KONE Corporation, said it is offering its cloud technology for free to its customers operating medical facilities. The KONE 24/7 Connected Services technology can better predict, maintain and take action before breakage, thereby ensuring less equipment downtime and fewer faults, a statement said. Online fashion rental platform Flyrobe has raised around $1.7million in seed funding led by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Sequoia+Capital&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Sequoia Capital</a>. The deal was closed last year and the official announcement is expected to be made later this month.

Who are these people? 
Omapal Technologies, the company that runs Flyrobe was founded in September 2015 by IIT Bombay alumni Shreya Mishra, Pranay Surana and Tushar Saxena. The founders – Sh 
reya Mishra, Pranay Surana, and Tushar Saxena have come together over the belief that ‘shared economy’ in fashion can work wonders. 
 
Before starting Flyrobe, Mishra was working as an analyst with Everstone Capital, Surana has earlier worked as a senior analyst at Deutsche Bank and Saxena was earlier chief technology officer at Triptainment Technologies. 
 
Troubled times for Sector 
The apparel rental space has been facing tough times recently. Ethnic market-place, Craftsvilla <a href="http://www.vccircle.com/news/technology/2016/04/28/ethnic-products-marketplace-craftsvilla-buys-clothing-rental-startup" target="_blank">acqui-hired</a> women clothing rental platform F2SO4 and Bangalore-based online apparel rental platform Klozee <a href="http://techcircle.vccircle.com/2016/05/13/online-apparel-rental-platform-klozee-shuts-down-co-founders-join-livspace/" target="_blank">closed</a> operations. 
 
Others startups operating in this space include Revamp My Closet, which was also recently acqui-hired by Spoyl, another online platform. 
 
Big Money to be made, apparently 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=PricewaterhouseCoopers&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">PricewaterhouseCoopers</a> estimates the global sharing economy will grow from $15 billion today to $335 billion by 2025. However, its yet to pick up big time when it comes to apparel. Transportation, accommodation, and food and beverages sectors are doing better. 
 
Flyrobe estimates the fashion rental market, including western and ethnic wear is worth $4-5 billion today. 
 
Rental economy picking up? 
In India, the idea of rented apparel has been reserved to graduation, fancy dress competitions and theme parties. 
 
However, as large scale immigration to bigger cities across the country picks up, investor interest too is growing. Back in November, furniture rental company <a href="https://www.rentomojo.com/" target="_blank">RentoMojo</a> raised $2 million in funding and Klozee raised a seed round from TracxnLabs and angels in August.

To do so, US-based Under Armour, which plans to set up retail outlets in the country, has also brought on board Adidas veteran Tushar Goculdas. “We are investing in Asia Pacific as there are long-term growth opportunities. We have been concentrating in China over the last few years. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be establishing our retail presence in India,” Jason Archer, Managing Director of Under Armour’s Asia-Pacific region told <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/under-armour-to-open-stores-take-on-nike-adidas/articleshow/68248563.cms">Times of India</a>, confirming plans for its India stores. Global sportswear brand Under Armour heads to India, brings on board former Adidas exec Tushar Goculdas
