The bill includes requirement of notice and prior consent to use individual data, which limited the purpose for which the companies had processed this data for. These restrictions are put in place so that only necessary data is collected. The Indian government with this will wants to ensure that personal data of Indian citizens is safeguarded and not stored overseas. It plans to raise SEK 1 billion, which is about $116 million. Ahead of its $116 million IPO, Truecaller says India's upcoming data protection bill may affect future earnings

<ul><li>Indians get the highest number of <keyword id="2232456" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Spam-calls" source="Orion">spam calls</keyword> everyday as people try to sell either financial or property related services.</li><li>People handle pesky or spam calls by picking the call and then either blocking the caller or telling them not to call again, says <keyword id="6379818" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="localcircles" source="Orion">LocalCircles</keyword> survey.</li><li>Only 1% of the respondents mentioned that they don’t get such calls.</li></ul>India is one of the most spammed countries in the world. Almost every Indian receives pesky or promotional calls on a daily basis, claims caller ID app <keyword id="1106616" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="truecaller" source="Orion">Truecaller</keyword>. They experience a flurry of spam SMSes or calls from banks, insurance brokers, car dealers, property agents and lately income opportunities - all being offered via the phone. To tackle this problem, 14% of the Indians use a caller identification app that helps them recognise who is calling them and avoid, if it’s spam, as per a new LocalCircles survey. But 42% of them prefer to pick the calls and later block these spammers. While 21% of them say that they pick such calls and ask them not to ring them again. Only 5% of the respondents said that they don’t receive such calls after registering themselves for DND. When asked about what type of calls they receive, 51% of people said that they get pesky phone calls from someone who is trying to sell them a financial service or a property. Around 8% of them receive sales calls from healthcare or pathology services. Truecaller also declared that it has turned profitable over the last four months, after a sharp revenue jump. “We are thrilled and humbled that we have been profitable for the last several months while simultaneously growing revenues at over 70% annually,” said Sandeep Patil, managing director of Truecaller. The app recently expanded its service offerings to include voice and messaging, UPI payments and more. Truecaller also said that its premium subscription service now has a million users. The 89 apps have <keyword id="2290246" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="social-media-accounts">social media accounts</keyword>, content sharing apps, short video making apps, e-commerce and dating sites like songs.pk, WeChat, Hike, Likee, Shareit, PUBG and Tinder, etc. "The existing accounts are required to be deleted and not left deactivated. Any service persons found on Facebook/using banned sites post-July 15 will be reported," according to the sources in the Indian Army. The decision has apparently been taken in order to stop sensitive information from going out the country. India has already banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, saying these apps opened the way for "elements hostile to national security and defence" to exploit them to "ultimately impinge upon the sovereignty and integrity of India". New Delhi, Feb 4 () Phone directory app Truecaller on Tuesday said it has achieved profitability over the last four months with India contributing significantly to the growth.
 The Stockholm-based company has also crossed the 200 million monthly active users (MAUs)-mark globally. Of this, 150 million were from India.
 "The aggressive growth in advertising sales and premium subscriptions in India have been a driving force in revenue generation," Truecaller said in a statement.
 Premium subscriptions have grown immensely since it was launched a year back, it added.
 "It has already crossed the 1-million mark and projected to grow by another 50 per cent in coming months," according to the statement. 
 Sandeep Patil, Managing Director at Truecaller, said the company has been profitable for the last several months while simultaneously growing revenues at over 70 per cent annually.
 "We will continue to grow revenues through investments in advertisement, subscriptions, credit and financial services," he added.
 Patil said the company will "make in India for India by recruiting talent across technology, product management, data sciences and finance and by developing partnerships across the ecosystem".
 "This is a concrete milestone on our path to build a financially-sustainable independent company that will be ready for an initial public offering (IPO) in three years," he noted.
 Truecaller is also expanding its business portfolio with services like Truecaller for Business.
