BARC says that it has proposed reviewing the current standards of measuring and reporting data and improving their statistical robustness. This will cover all Hindi, regional, English and business news channels. “Starting with the ‘News Genre’, BARC will cease publishing the weekly individual ratings for all news channels during the exercise. This exercise is expected to take around 8-12 weeks including validation and testing under the supervision of BARCs Tech Comm. BARC will continue to release weekly audience estimates for the genre of news by state and language,” BARC said in a release. The <keyword id="10111018" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="trp-controversy">TRP controversy</keyword> This comes after Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, earlier this week, had <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/fake-trp-racket-police-call-republic-tvs-cfo-for-questioning-6717776/">claimed</a> that Republic TV and two Marathi channels - Box Cinema and Fakt Marathi -- manipulated Television Rating Point (TRP) for better advertisement revenue. Republic TV rubbished Singh's claims. The alleged fake TRP scam <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/fake-trp-racket-police-call-republic-tvs-cfo-for-questioning-6717776/">came to light</a> when rating agency Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) filed a complaint through Hansa Research Group, alleging that certain television channels were rigging TRP numbers. <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/fake-trp-racket-police-call-republic-tvs-cfo-for-questioning-6717776/">According to Mumbai Police</a>, some of the people whose homes these barometers have been installed have confessed that they were paid ₹500 for keeping their TV sets switched on even if they didn't watch the channels. The crime branch has so far arrested five persons in the case. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/supreme-court-rejects-republic-tv-arnab-goswami-plea-1731773-2020-10-15">refused </a>to entertain Republic TV’s plea in the TRP scam case and has asked the news channel to move to Bombay High Court. “We at BARC take our role in truthfully and faithfully reporting ‘What India Watches’ with the greatest sense of responsibility and work with integrity to ensure that our audience estimates (ratings) remain true to their purpose”. BARC pauses weekly television ratings of all news channels for three months following TRP controversy

Podcaster and musician John Roderick was catapulted into the spotlight after his thread about forcing his daughter to learn how to use a can opener on her own went viral, earning him the moniker "Bean Dad" and culminating in him deleting his account after people resurfaced his old, offensive tweets.In his viral thread, which has since been deleted along with the account, Roderick recounted a story in which he said that he told his nine-year-old daughter to cook a can of beans for herself, forcing her to figure out how to use a can opener on her own rather than instructing her. As the thread went on, Roderick said that he realized that he had never taught his daughter how to use a can opener, telling her to figure out how the can opener works by studying its parts. Later, he said that he told her that neither of them would eat anything else until she opened the can of beans. According to Roderick's thread, he and his daughter were working on the can "on and off" for about six hours before his daughter successfully opened it. "I'm proud of her," Roderick wrote later in the thread. "I know I'm infuriating. I know this is parenting theater in some ways. The show previously used the song "(It's a) Departure," written by John Roderick and performed by his band The Long Winters, as theme music."For reasons we're sure you're all aware of, we're getting started finding new music for MBMBaM," the podcast's <a href="https://twitter.com/MBMBaM/status/1345853609175560193?s=20">official account tweeted</a>. "You'll probably hear a filler theme song on this week's episode. We're not sure what'll come after that, honestly, but we hope you'll stick around to find out."In a follow-up tweet, the MBMBaM account tweeted that Roderick's "response to today's situation is emblematic of a pattern of behavior that is antithetical to the energy we try to bring to the things we do, and so it's time for us to move on."Ultimately, the incident was the first seemingly all-encompassing discourse to circulate on 2021, with implications that ended up reaching far past Roderick's original thread. <h2>Roderick apologized for his 'poorly told' story on Tuesday</h2><a href="http://www.johnroderick.com/an-apology">In a post on his personal website,</a> Roderick apologized for both his story and past tweets, calling them both "profound failures." In the apology, he wrote that he "framed the story with me as the a--hole dad," saying that friends and family would recognize it as a bit and that he and his daughter had snacked while working on the can opener problem, eaten a full meal prior, and worked together on his jigsaw puzzle. He then says that he didn't realize at the time of posting that his language "reminded people very viscerally of abuse they'd experienced at the hand of a parent," and apologized for being "flippant" when confronted.Roderick also said that his previous "racist, anti-Semitic, hurtful and slur-filled" tweets were intended to be ironic and sarcastic but that he had previously realized that he shouldn't "repurpose" slurs as a straight white male."I deeply regret having ever used those words. Kim Kardashian, the reality TV star from America, who was supposed to make a grand entry in tomorrow’s Bigg Boss episode, had to cancel her plans because of some visa issues. 
 
Reports suggest that Kardashian, who was supposed to come to India for a promotional tour and to appear on Bigg Boss, India’s biggest and most controversial reality show, couldn’t get Indian visa because of some unreported reasons. 
 
Raj Nayak, the CEO of Colors channel, which hosts the show confirmed this on social networking site Twitter, where he posted the snapshot of Kim Kardashian’s tweet in which she apologised to her Indian fans because she could not make it here.

Bigg Boss Season 8: Take A Sneak Peak At 15 Probable Contestants

Ever since Bigg Boss, the biggest reality show in India, began its eighth season, it has been struggling to find a good position on the TRP chart. Reports suggest that Aamir Khan’s seasonal show, Satyamev Jayate 3, got better TRPs than Bigg Boss season 8. In fact, the eighth season’s ratings are the lowest compared to all past seasons of this show.
 

	These reports and rankings surely have been bothering the producers, who are trying hard to spice things up.
 

	For instance when the theme of aeroplane didn’t go down well with the audience, the producers shifted the contestants to a lavish house just one week after the premiere and toned down the aeroplane settings.
 

	Even after this, the audience didn’t appreciate the show and the producers had to call some wild card entries in the house to put things on the right track. These wild cards included Ali Quli Mirza, Dimpy Mahajan, Renee Dhyani and Nigaar Z Khan.

	Kim is reportedly charging a whooping amount of Rs 70 lakh per episode. However, when we dug deeper into her Twitter feed, we came across this tweet where she mentioned that she would be touring three countries in one week:
 

	
 

	As she plans to spend one week in three countries, India being one of them, we don’t think that she would be spending more than two nights in the Bigg Boss house. Rest, we will have to wait for her entry in the house to see how things get juiced up, and if producers would decide to carry on with her role.
