The Trivia Crack-inspired series will present 24 multiple-choice questions around topics like art and science while weaving a narrative into the experience, reports <keyword id="220420" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Engadget" source="Orion">Engadget</keyword>. Users are meant to help the hero <keyword id="1319847" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="willy" source="Orion">Willy</keyword> save the people of <keyword id="13305544" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="trivia-land" source="Orion">Trivia Land</keyword> from a villain bent on hoarding knowledge -- contrived, maybe, but it is more than pure competition. Trivia Quest does not offer any real-world prizes, but users can replay an episode to earn more points and make progress toward a "definitive ending". The title will be available on all devices that support interactive Netflix material, including most modern browsers, mobile devices, smart TVs and streaming hardware. The company is quick to bill Trivia Quest as an "experiment", and hasn't committed to more shows like it, the report said. With that said, it would not be shocking if there were similarly ambitious interactive shows in the future, it added. ANOTHER SIDE OF DC: In the aftermath of January 6, when a mob of pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol and traumatized their city, a few Washingtonians took it upon themselves to try to help catch some of the insurrectionists. Their efforts to "catfish" rioters on dating apps before reporting them to the feds drew national headlines. Such exploits were also prominently displayed on an anonymously run Instagram account called Overheard District.<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/overheard-district-instagram-washington-dc-deuxmoi-capitol-attack-dating-bumble-2021-4">Insider caught up with the manager of DC's version of the pandemic breakout hit DeuxMoi.</a><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/COA2wGJhm6V/?utm_source=ig_embed"><div type="image" title="Screen Shot 2021 05 04 at 3.30.34 AM" height="1122" width="856" msid="82386783" hostid="261"></div></a>Here's a peek at the conversation:<ul><li>The account started in 2019, but the pandemic grew the community around the account: "So everyone was kinda looking for relatable lighthearted content, and it created an opening for the platform to provide content that was entertaining and engaging," the manager, who asked to remain anonymous, told Insider.</li><li>Washingtonians also submitted the best and worst dating profiles to the account: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CNs2C80BTSH/">One overheard gem was</a>: "I'm sorry but he's the same age as AOC. Rep. Biden formally reverses reversal on refugee cap. But he concedes his new goal may not be reached: President Joe Biden is formally pledging to accept as many as 62,500 refugees by September after taking office with Trump's historically low cap of 15,000 in place. Biden reiterated that the goal remained 125,000 for the next fiscal year starting in October, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/biden-raising-2021-refugee-cap-says-us-will-not-reach-2021-5">but he conceded that too would be difficult to reach</a>.<div type="image" title="bill gates melinda gates" height="1382" width="1842" msid="82386785" hostid="261"></div>4. Bill and Melinda Gates are ending their 27-year marriage: The co-leaders of their namesake foundation said they remained committed to philanthropic projects they'd funded through it, including more than $1 billion in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Warren Buffett has officially confirmed his successor: The Oracle of Omaha told CNBC that Greg Abel, a vice chairman who leads Berkshire Hathaway's noninsurance businesses, would replace him in the event of an emergency and was also waiting in the wings. Speculation has fanned for years on who would replace Buffett, who still has no plans to retire. <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/greg-abel-profile-background-warren-buffett-successor-berkshire-hathaway-ceo-2021-5-1030380049">Meet the 58-year-old who would have big shoes to fill</a>.<ul><li>There could be one major difference between them: <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/berkshire-chooses-greg-abel-as-warren-buffetts-successor-in-ceo-role-11620054866">Buffett has called Omaha, Nebraska, home for years, but Abel is a denizen of Des Moines, Iowa</a>. An elevated subway platform collapsed in Mexico City, killing at least 20: The subway line that collapsed has been plagued by structural problems almost since its opening in 2012. In 2014, a stretch of the route between Tláhuac and Atlalilco had to be shut down for several months to address structural problems. <a href="https://www.insider.com/subway-platform-collapses-in-mexico-city-killing-13-2021-5">More on the unfolding story here</a>.8. The FBI shot a man just outside CIA headquarters: The FBI said a man attempted to drive into the CIA's Langley headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and was shot by FBI special agents after an armed standoff. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/security-incident-cia-headquarters-report-2021-5">No CIA officers or FBI agents were reported to be injured, and the person was transported to a local hospital</a>.<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-rich-is-bill-gates-net-worth-mind-blowing-facts-2019-5#8-gates-net-worth-is-greater-than-the-gdp-of-luxembourg-estonia-and-bolivia-combined-9"></a>9. States continue to roll back pandemic restrictions: "According to recent data from the Kaiser Family Foundation, 27 states have fully reopened, up from 22 on March 15," The Journal reports. Experts caution that Americans still need to follow public-health guidance. Or Jim Halpert, the clever and charming underachiever who immediately appears sympathetic in his quest to win the heart of Pam Beesly.But there's only one character who appeared in every single episode, showed the most growth, and ended the series not just getting everything they wanted, but actually earning it: <keyword id="7774623" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Dwight-Schrute">Dwight Schrute</keyword>.<h2>Dwight is introduced as unlikeable while Jim is painted as a relatable underdog</h2>When we first meet Dwight (<keyword id="805459" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rainn-Wilson">Rainn Wilson</keyword>), he's presented as the rule-following, annoying kiss-up. He continually proclaims he's the assistant (to the) regional manager even though the corporate office repeatedly tells him he's not and has no actual authority over the rest of his coworkers.He's loud, brash, and everyone - including Michael (<a href="https://www.insider.com/steve-carells-movies-ranked-2019-1">Steve Carell</a>), the man he looks up to and defends the most - openly dislikes him. <div type="image" title="michael scott and dwight" height="1923" width="2564" msid="80675240" hostid="261"></div>In contrast, Jim (John Krasinski) <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-worst-movies-actors-from-the-office-have-been-in">is presented as quiet and charming</a>. He has a boyish haircut and slightly unkempt business attire that only add to the wide-eyed innocent gaze he regularly gives to the camera. He's handsome and clever, exuberant but harmless. This initial setup pushes viewers to side with Jim.We're supposed to see his lack of motivation not as a flaw but as an understandable commentary on the mundanity that capitalism has forced us into. As responsible adults, we also have little choice but to find a soul-crushing corporate job somewhere in order to pay our bills.On the other hand, Dwight's staunch belief in upholding corporate rules and enthusiasm for working to be the best employee he can be is meant to be viewed as off-putting. Framed in this light, it's easy to defend Jim's pranks as harmless. After all, it's not Dwight he's humiliating - it's corporate ideals.<h2>The problem in this setup is that Jim isn't the anti-establishment icon he's meant to be</h2>Jim's constant pranks disrupt office life, but they do little to actually stop his contributions to the company's bottom line.When left unattended for a day, Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer) <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0664519/">organize the Olympic Games</a> and get everyone to stop working to participate. Jim even tries to get them to continue after Michael and Dwight return to <keyword id="94523" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-Office">the office</keyword>.It seems Jim isn't interested in doing his job, but then tells the camera he completed his expense reports and closed two sales, making it one of his most productive days. Jim cares little about how much he disrupts office productivity as long as he's entertained and Pam is impressed, all while quietly making sure to hit his sales numbers and do his job.Even if that can be seen as Jim only doing the bare minimum in order to stay in this soulless rat race otherwise known as corporate mundanity, his pranks against Dwight aren't meant to mock his adherence to corporate principles and ideals.They're meant to personally belittle and humiliate Dwight.<div type="image" title="jim and dwight the office" height="2000" width="3000" msid="80675244" hostid="261"></div>The rivalry often feels less like capitalist commentary and more like the hallways of high school.Jim clearly represents the popular kids with his effortless cool and Dwight is the amalgamation of outcasts. No matter what he does he's mocked, even when he isn't disrupting or forcing his beliefs on anyone else.We see this clearly when <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0664516/">Dwight dresses as a Sith Lord</a> and is made fun of by nearly everyone, yet Jim's flippant costume as "three-hole punch Jim" with three paper dots stuck on his shirt is remarked as clever and fun.In fact, <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0664511/">later that same season on a booze cruise</a>, Jim's then-girlfriend, Katy, comments the same sentiment, placing her, Jim, Pam, and Roy as the cool kids.At the same time, Dwight is asked by the ship's captain to steer the boat with a giant wooden wheel, a duty everyone except Dwight knows is fake. And the truth is, the person who not only benefitted from these principles but also embraced them was Jim.<h2>Even as Jim gets promoted, he uses his power to be petty </h2>No matter how hard Dwight tries, he rarely makes the progress he believes he should while Jim skates through his job, takes very little seriously, and still ends up getting several promotions.In this context, Jim upholds several ideals of a capitalist culture. As Jim moves up, he doesn't exactly strive to make things better for the people he once worked alongside. A prime example is when Jim uses his supervisor status to enact petty revenge after Dwight <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520197/">gives Jim a gift that's secretly a listening device</a>.Jim uses the device to play a series of pranks on <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-office-fun-facts-2018-10">Dwight</a> before admitting he knew all along what Dwight had done. Dwight admits to being jealous and, rather than rise above the harmless incident or acknowledge that it was petty to continue pulling pranks as Dwight's supervisor, Jim punishes Dwight by making him wash his car - an act reminiscent of Michael's unprofessional behavior. <div type="image" title="jim and dwight the office" height="2000" width="2666" msid="80675249" hostid="261"></div><h2>Even Dwight's most outrageous acts are guided by his desire to do well and receive approval from others </h2>He may uphold corporate beliefs, but Dwight constantly strives to do the right thing for corporate and for his fellow employees. Many of the things Dwight gets vilified for over the series are actually things guided, or misguided, by his desire to be seen as valuable.When corporate tells Michael to <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0664517/">cut health-care costs</a> by choosing a provider with the absolute cheapest plan, he passes the responsibility to Dwight because he doesn't want to be seen as a bad guy. Dwight completes the task as he was instructed to do by slashing the coverage to nearly nothing. But when the rest of the office voices their discontent, he attempts to ensure their needs are covered and their concerns are heard.It's actually Jim and Pam who stand in the way by adding fake conditions to the plan and generally being disruptive to the entire process.Even his most outrageous acts, like when he locked everyone in the office and <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1248736/">lit the trash on fire</a>, are examples of his concern for the general well-being of the office. In this instance, he wanted his peers to take safety protocols seriously.<h2>Beyond that, Dwight frequently tries to help his fellow employees</h2>Even though he's adamant about not acting from a place of compassion, actions speak louder than words. Their worries are compounded by the hard feelings surrounding Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's refusal to bow out during the Obama administration. The vacancy opened by her death last year led conservatives to cement a 6-3 majority that could rewrite historic precedents like Roe v. Wade as soon as next year.<ul><li>Biden's pledge to make a historic pick weighs on them too: "We have a real shot of getting the first Black woman on the Supreme Court," a former Breyer clerk told Insider. "If someone in the Senate gets sick or, because of some scandal, Democrats lose the majority, who knows when a Black woman will be appointed to the court?" Here's a peek at what they said:Breyer's decision to stay put doesn't surprise some of them: But they say in recent years he's privately and publicly bemoaned the frequency of closely divided rulings and the increasing politicization of the court.<ul><li>Some also say the public pressure campaign on Breyer could easily backfire: "To the extent that the public pressure on him to step down has any effect, my best guess is it would have the opposite effect, not because he's the sort of person to say, 'Don't tell me what to do,' but it contributes to the politicization of the situation," said Carolyn Shapiro, a professor at the Chicago-Kent College of Law who clerked for Breyer in the 1996-1997 Supreme Court term.</li></ul>The larger Breyer universe said questions around him would only grow: "There was no expectation he would leave before June, but most of us thought it was more likely than not that he would retire this year," one former clerk said. Chris Shays of Connecticut as skeptical at best: Shays said he respects and admires Biden, but a 2024 run would "a huge mistake." The former congressman added: "[Biden's] older, I don't think he is as sharp as he was."<ul><li>Shays is also unhappy with the current situation at the border: "My one disappointment with Joe is the foolish way he has allowed illegal immigration at our southern border to become a very real crisis. His missteps have given credibility to Trump's advocacy of a wall, and Trump's tough stance on the flow of illegal immigration. Biden's infrastructure plan has a possible path in the Senate: Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough handed a major win to Democrats by ruling that they have an extra shot at using the special legislative procedure of reconciliation. The special procedure would allow <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/senate-parliamentarian-to-allow-2-more-bills-to-bypass-filibuster-2021-4">Democrats to pass Biden's infrastructure plan without Republican support. </a><ul><li>More details: Between now and the 2022 midterms, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/04/05/joe-biden-live-updates/#link-KA3SOTLI7RCENPYIWP5RPUOTSI">Democrats will have at least three more chances to use reconciliation</a>, per The Washington Post. This offers an unprecedented opportunity <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/04/05/schumer-filibuster-senate-479109">for the party to ram through its agenda</a>. </li></ul>A little-known power player in the spotlight again: MacDonough previously sparked Democrats' ire for forcing them to drop the $15 per hour minimum wage. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/senate-parliamentarian-elizabeth-macdonough-infrastructure-chuck-schumer-biden-2021-4">Her latest ruling means she'll continue to have a major say in Biden's legacy.</a>This isn't a golden ticket: Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has insisted on bipartisan support for the infrastructure package and other party priorities. Reconciliation only works if every single Democrat is on board. The department's former head of training later echoed Arradondo's sentiments. Dr. Bradford Langenfeld, the ER doctor who operated on George Floyd, testified that his leading theory for the cause of death was asphyxia, or loss of oxygen. <a href="https://www.insider.com/derek-chauvin-trial-updates-police-leadership-testify-on-day-6-2021-4">More key moments from Day 6 of the murder trial.</a>6. Arkansas governor vetoed the state's historic anti-trans bill. Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced he vetoed the "Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act," which would have banned doctors from prescribing puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, or gender-affirming surgeries to trans youth. Advocates had warned the law <a href="https://www.insider.com/trans-youth-avoid-suicidal-thoughts-depressioon-with-early-care-2020-9">would be devastating</a>. The governor on Monday <a href="https://www.insider.com/arkansas-vetoes-historic-anti-trans-bill-2021-4">called the bill "overboard" and "extreme."</a>7. Offerings have included <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/business/amazon/amazon-refuses-arizonas-cactus-as-bidders-for-hq2-climb-to-118/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a giant cactus</a>, <a href="http://www.post-gazette.com/local/city/2017/10/17/Primantis-Bros-sandwich-amazon-headquarters-hq2-pittsburgh/stories/201710170109" target="_blank" rel="noopener">free sandwiches</a>, and <a href="http://fortune.com/2017/10/19/amazon-hq2-tax-breaks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">big tax breaks</a>.The ongoing saga of Amazon HQ2 reads like a municipal perks-centric "Hunger Games," while the founding of Disney World comes off more like a spy novel about a theme park. But both quests for a second location came about during a time of diversification and expansion for huge companies at the top of their games. And Amazon seems likely to bend the government of whatever location it settles upon to its will, as Disney did with Florida decades ago.<h2>A time of growth</h2>Amazon may be on track to become the world's first <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/morgan-stanley-amazon-facebook-google-trillion-dollar-company-2018-2017-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trillion-dollar company</a>. Having launched as an online bookstore in 1994, the tech giant is now both a colossal online and physical retailer, with a whole host of subsidiaries and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lord-of-the-rings-series-amazon-warner-bros-2017-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increasing clout in show business</a>.Before the 1950s, "<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Disney-Manufacture-Janet-Wasko/dp/0745614841/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1513275289&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=Janet+Wasko" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Understanding Disney</a>" author and University of Oregon professor Janet Wasko said Disney's global reputation and cultural impact outweighed its actual size as a company. That changed as it began to branch out from focusing exclusively on animated films, and dipped into merchandise, film distribution, and television."That led to them building into one of the Hollywood majors," Wasko said. "Those were the foundations."The diversification also featured theme parks. Disneyland opened in 1955 outside Anaheim, California. The park was built on orange groves, but the city quickly grew up around it. The gas stations and traffic weren't a part of Walt Disney's vision - he wanted a more immersive experience for guests."Walt, always being the innovator, was always looking to what's next," Mongello said. "He was already starting to think, 'We need a place that's going to give us the blessing of size.'"So, starting around 1958, the company began to search for a new spot.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">David Ryder / Stringer / Getty ImagesAmazon's Seattle headquarters.</div></div></div><h2>'Mucky, murky, disgusting swampland'</h2>Most Disney employees weren't aware of "Project Winter." The real estate agents Disney hired were also kept in the dark about their client's identity. In "<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Married-Mouse-Disney-World-Orlando/dp/0300098286" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Married to the Mouse: Walt Disney World and Orlando</a>," Richard E. Foglesong writes, "the slightest leak that a large company like Disney was acquiring property would quickly escalate land prices."Disney ended up scouting Niagara Falls, St. Louis, Baltimore, and New Orleans, along with spots in Florida, California, New Jersey, and Colorado.Some spots came close to snagging the deal. Foglesong writes Gussie Busch, chairman of the Anheuser-Busch Companies, wrecked St. Louis's chances just by annoying Walt Disney. At a dinner St. Louis leaders held with the Disney team, Busch remarked, "Any man who thinks he can design an attraction that is going to be a success in this city and not serve beer or liquor, ought to have his head examined."During a plane ride over Florida, Disney settled on a remote area outside Orlando, which also happened to be close to major highways."If you look at pictures of this area, there was nothing here," Mongello said. "There was literally nothing around. There were orange groves. There was like one bar where all the workers used to go when they first started to build it."Disney began scooping up land - much of which was either farmland or "mucky, murky, disgusting swampland," according to Mongello. To avoid scrutiny and land speculation, it used shell companies, like M.T. Lott - or, "empty lot." That's how Disney was able to snap up <a href="http://www.wdwradio.com/2005/02/wdw-history-101-how-to-buy-27000-acres-of-land-and-no-one-noticeq/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">27,000 acres of land with no one noticing</a>, although the company had a few close calls over the years. "He was like, 'Oh yeah, I get that a lot.'"Meanwhile, the local press began speculating whether large companies like Boeing, NASA, or Ford was behind the land grab. In October 1965, Disney's publicity team invited a group of reporters - including Emily Bavar, editor of the Orlando Sentinel's Florida Magazine - to visit Walt Disney at Disneyland. During the meeting in his office, Bavar asked the entertainment mogul if he was behind the land acquisition."Taken aback, he sputtered a non-denial denial and offered climate and population reasons why Florida would be inappropriate - but then explained how those factors could be overcome," Foglesong writes.The Orlando Sentinel ended up breaking the news, and land prices jumped. Mongello writes the company got <a href="http://www.wdwradio.com/2016/02/walt-disney-worlds-greatest-reveal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">its first plot of land for $80, and its last for $80,000</a>.<h2>The home state of HQ2 can learn from Florida's experience</h2>The state of Florida was thrilled by the news Disney would make its home there, sensing an opportunity to boost employment and tourism. Mongello said the state essentially allowed the company to form its own "quasi-government entity." Disney runs its own towns, Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. It established its own building codes. If it chose to, the company could open its own school - even its own nuclear power plant.Walt Disney passed away several years before the park opened in 1971. But his vision has since gone on to completely transform Orlando, according to Mongello. Today, Walt Disney World alone <a href="http://wdwnews.com/fact-sheets/2014/10/31/walt-disney-world-fun-facts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">employs 70,000 cast members</a>, and The Orlando Sentinel reported <a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/os-visit-orlando-tourist-numbers-20170511-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a record </a> <a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/os-visit-orlando-tourist-numbers-20170511-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">68 million visitors to Orlando in 2016</a>.Meanwhile, the state of Florida's decision to bestow so much autonomy on the company has also sparked concerns. Foglesong called Walt Disney World "the Vatican with mouse ears" and alleges it has occasionally worn "their public hat or their private hat, depending on what best serves their corporate interest."Disney's move to Florida offers insight into how Amazon might relate to its new home city. In its first home, Seattle, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-new-headquarters-reaction-problems-2017-9">Amazon has been blamed</a> for skyrocketing rents, gentrification, and increased traffic in Seattle.There are clear differences between both cases, regarding scouting methods, industries, and the realities of real estate, to mention a few. But Mongello said the strategies employed by Disney and Amazon are "two sides of the same coin."
