Yet, Indian companies are still a long way from hiring from the LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) community. Addressing the discrimination faced by the coummunity in India, Pride Circle, a platform connecting job seekers with MNCs has announced a first-of-its-kind <a href="https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.thehindu.com/news/cities/bangalore/a-job-fair-for-the-lgbtq-community/article27062211.ece/amp/">career job fair</a> — RISE — Re-imagining Inclusion for Social Equality. The LGBTQI job fair, which will be held on 12 July, will have nearly 50 participant companies offering IT, admin, communications and blue-collar jobs. Its aim is to create over 1,000 jobs by next year. According to The Hindu report, the organisation received nearly 80 resumes so far, and is expecting around 400 LGBTQ participants. The career fair will be conducted from 1 pm to 5:30 pm at the Lalit Ashok Hotel in Bangalore. Mumbai will hold a smiliar job fair on 28 July — <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/living/vividh-2019-an-employment-fair-for-diverse-candidates-aims-to-enhance-inclusiveness-in-workplaces-6842991.html">Vividh</a> — bringing together talent from various groups including acid attack survivors, people with disabilities and queer community. “Not a job fair, but a diversity fair,” Praful Baweja, Co-Founder of 6 Degrees <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/buzz/mumbai-to-see-first-job-fair-to-hire-queer-and-diverse-employees-will-india-inc-bite-2195265.html">told</a> Network18. The fair will have on-the-spot interviews, CV submissions for all candidates, regardless of their age and sexuality, aiming to create inclusivity at workplace. Corporates in India are adapting to inclusivity in their hiring policies, though slowly. The first step has been taken by multinational and large organizations. IBM, Accenture, Cognizant and Tech Mahindra are among those who extended <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/company/corporate-trends/indian-mncs-openly-allying-with-the-lgbt-cause/articleshow/69951140.cms">medical insurance to same-sex partners</a> among the <keyword id="6885224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="LGBTQ-employees">LGBTQ employees</keyword>. "It's been actually really dope being on Quinn's team for the last couple of years and to see their transformation. Both Clarendon and Quinn are fantastic athletes, but neither dominates the competition in the way many politicians have warned could happen if trans athletes are permitted to play in women's leagues."It's just totally false hypotheticals of what could happen, when actually you have no idea what happens in that locker room," Rapinoe said. "You have no idea the effect that it's going to have on trans kids and trans people period, and just the damage and how destructive and how hateful that is.""You actually don't even know what you're talking about," Rapinoe added, again addressing the lawmakers behind these bills. "Do you even watch women's sports? Yeah, probably not."<div type="image" title="Megan Rapinoe" height="683" width="910" msid="81708441" hostid="261"></div>Despite Rapinoe's and other professional athletes' opposition to bills aimed at excluding transgender youth from athletics programs, more than half of states in the union currently have legislation in motion to "protect women's sports," as <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/24/opinion/trans-athletes-womens-sports.html">former President Donald Trump recently put it</a>.<a href="https://www.aclu.org/legislation-affecting-lgbt-rights-across-country">According to the ACLU</a>, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Connecticut, Maine, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia all have some form of these anti-trans bills on the docket.Rapinoe said that because "99.9% of people are not going on to play professional sports," the supposed threat of unfair competition from trans kids is completely illegitimate. "Ultimately sports is such a great outlet for kids to learn so much," she said. "So to ban people from that benefit just for the purpose of hate is totally ridiculous.
