Last week, the BSE benchmark jumped 1,707.01 points or 2.10 per cent. The 30-share BSE Sensex hit its lifetime high of 83,116.19 on Thursday. Bharti Airtel's valuation jumped Rs 54,282.62 crore to Rs 9,30,490.20 crore, becoming the biggest gainer among the top-10 firms. The market capitalisation (mcap) of <keyword id="19900482" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-Bank" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="ICICI Bank" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="ICICI Bank">ICICI Bank</keyword> surged Rs 29,662.44 crore to Rs 8,80,867.09 crore. <keyword id="19950119" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Consultancy-Services" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Consultancy Services" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Tata Consultancy Services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) added Rs 23,427.12 crore taking its valuation to Rs 16,36,189.63 crore. The mcap of Hindustan Unilever soared Rs 22,438.6 crore to Rs 6,89,358.33 crore and that of <keyword id="19895995" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="HDFC-Bank" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="HDFC Bank" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="HDFC Bank">HDFC Bank</keyword> zoomed Rs 22,093.99 crore to Rs 12,70,035.77 crore. The market valuation of Infosys climbed Rs 17,480.49 crore to Rs 8,07,299.55 crore and that of ITC rallied Rs 15,194.17 crore to Rs 6,42,531.82 crore. The valuation of <keyword id="19896380" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Reliance Industries" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Reliance Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> jumped Rs 9,878.19 crore to Rs 19,92,160.61 crore and that of State Bank of India went up by Rs 7,095.07 crore to Rs 7,05,535.20 crore. However, the mcap of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) declined by Rs 3,004.38 crore to Rs 6,54,004.76 crore. Reliance Industries was leading the chart of the top-10 most valued firms followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, LIC and ITC.

He also predicts that Corebridge could buy back as much as 20% of its outstanding stock each year, a practice that generally engineers gains by increasing the per-unit value of each remaining share."It's a name not many people know about," Nygren said of the firm. "They don't have to depend on other investors to recognize the value. They just keep reducing the flow."He continued: "I think it just creates a tremendous opportunity for companies that are good businesses, generating a lot of cash flow, and it gives them the opportunity to increase per share value by reinvesting in themselves."

One stock being targeted by a value-investing legend in a market he says has gotten too top-heavy

Quick commerce company <keyword id="19939134" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zepto" source="keywords">Zepto</keyword> on Friday said it has raised <keyword id="22130274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="USD-665-million" source="keywords">USD 665 million</keyword> (about Rs 5,560 crore) in the latest funding round that valued the firm at USD 3.6 billion, almost triple than its worth a year back. The massive fundraise comes less than a year after the Mumbai-based startup raised USD 235 million at a valuation of USD 1.4 billion. The funding round saw participation from new investors like Avenir, Lightspeed, and Avra, alongside existing investors Glade Brook, Nexus, and StepStone, Goodwater, and Lachy Groom. "We've gone from 0 to 1 billion-plus in sales, or GMV, in 29 months, that is faster than any other internet company before us... Even on a base of over a billion dollars at this point, we are growing 100 per cent-plus year on year. And that for us is one of the big drivers of this fundraise," Zepto co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha told PTI. Attributing the growth to the performance of the quick commerce firm, the young entrepreneur said, "This is largely because of the input excellence we've built across the supply chain. "Whether it is sourcing excellence, mother hub efficiency, line haul utilisation, or our last mile, the innovation that we've done, or forecasting, we're in this place where even as we've been able to grow, we've been able to drive efficiency to get the business to pretty much close to full operating cash flow positive today." He said the overall business is close to operating at break-even cash flow. Nearly 75 per cent of the company's stores are fully EBITDA positive as of May 2024, he said. "Over the next 12-18 months, although it might fluctuate, but we'll still be pretty close to operating cash flow positive, and the idea is to keep in that direction, get the business to a place where we can list next 9-12 months," he said. Zepto co-founder and CTO <keyword id="12442402" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kaivalya-Vohra" source="Orion">Kaivalya Vohra</keyword> said the firm plans to hire top talent across engineering, product, growth, finance, operations, and category management. Robert Burke accepted bribes to help a training firm win certain contracts while he was commanding US Naval Forces Europe and Africa in exchange for a high-paying job as soon as he retired.The indictment said that Burke, a former four-star, used "his official position to influence other Navy officers to award another contract to Company A to train a large portion of the Navy with a value [the contractors] allegedly estimated to be 'triple digit millions.'"The company had previously had a contract with the Navy to provide a workforce training pilot program from August 2018 to July 2019 before it was then terminated in late 2019.While the company remains unnamed in the DOJ release, Yongchul "Charlie" Kim and Meghan Messenger are named as the two other co-defendants in the case and identified as co-CEOs of the company. Kim and Messenger are listed as co-CEOs on the site of company called <a target="_blank" href="https://nextjump.com/leadership/">NextJump</a>.Burke, the indictment said, is alleged to have ordered his staff to award a contract to the company to train personnel directly under his command in Italy and Spain in December 2021. The contract's cost was $355,000.After Burke retired from the Navy in October 2022, he began working at the company with a yearly starting salary of $500,000, the indictment added.DOJ also noted that Burke purportedly lied to the Navy about this employment and his relationship with the company, writing: "To conceal the scheme, Burke allegedly made several false and misleading statements to the Navy, including by creating the false appearance that Burke played no role in issuing the contract and falsely implying that Company A's employment discussions with Burke only began months after the contract was awarded."Burke, Kim and Messenger did not immediately reply to a message from BI seeking comment Friday.Burke was the Navy's highest ranking officer in Europe from July 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, he was the Vice Chief of Naval Operations for one year. A <a target="_blank" href="https://www.navy.mil/Leadership/Flag-Officer-Biographies/Search/Article/2236163/admiral-robert-burke/">career submariner</a>, his operational assignments include both attack and ballistic submarines.
