We, at Business Insider India, have been using the iQOO Z9s Pro for over a month and after our testing, we can confidently say that this is the smartphone that can give you good performance for under Rs 25,000. <div type="image" title="6" msid="115764952" hostid="261" sizebytes="904220"></div> In India, the iQOO Z9s Pro’s price starts at Rs 24,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The 8GB RAM variant with 256GB storage is priced at Rs 26,999, while the top-end model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage comes in at Rs 28,999. For our testing, we used the top-end model in white colour. So, should you go ahead and buy the iQOO Z9s Pro? Let’s find out. <h2>iQOO Z9s Pro: Design and display </h2> The iQOO Z9s Pro sports a sleek, contemporary design, offering a lightweight and comfortable grip. The phone features a sturdy glossy back panel with a marble feel to it which is visible when the lights are on. The phone, at a glance, looks quite stylish and will stand out in a crowd. I personally am not a fan of prints but the marble feel on the iQOO Z9s Pro looks quite elegant and not at all overdone. Then there is the familiar square camera module and the iQOO branding. The camera module is surrounded by a metallic finish border which elevates the whole look. <div type="image" title="10" msid="115764970" hostid="261" sizebytes="833759"></div> At the bottom is the USB Type C charging port and sim tray. The right edge houses the power and volume buttons that are quite easy to get to while holding the phone in one hand. The left edge is left completely free. The edges also sport a silver metallic finish and are worth noticing. The phone comes with a curved display which further enhances its look. During my usage, I didn’t see any fingerprints on the back panel which is a huge plus. The front, however, did form smudges and gathered dust quickly. <div type="image" title="3" msid="115764994" hostid="261" sizebytes="1688002"></div> Due to its curved display, rounded edges and glossy back, the phone is comfortable to hold and use with just one hand. However, it can also easily slide from your hand if you aren’t paying attention. Hence, it is best to always use it with the cover that comes packed with the phone. The phone’s display is a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and vivid colours, ideal for multimedia and gaming enthusiasts. This high refresh rate is excellent for gaming and general use, delivering a seamless experience. Everyday tasks and multitasking feel incredibly smooth, while gaming performance is also impressive. The phone could easily handle titles like Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty Mobile at high settings without a hitch. The cooling system helps prevent overheating during prolonged sessions, making it a reliable choice for gamers. The phone also includes virtual RAM expansion, giving it an edge in handling demanding applications. <div type="image" title="1" msid="115765018" hostid="261" sizebytes="1900985"></div> Talking about the software, even though the phone offers a clean experience with customisable themes and settings, it does come with pre-installed apps, which may be a slight drawback for those who prefer a streamlined interface. However, the edge detection might feel tad off at times. Hence, I would recommend using it with the back cover on always. The Titanium Grey colour makes it look like it belongs in a conference room and is built for serious business. I am a fan of minimalist designs and if that’s what you prefer in a phone, you will love the design language of the V40 Pro. The camera module at the back mimics a pendulum, with two cameras neatly positioned in a circular arrangement at the top, while a third camera and a distinctive aura LED ring complete the look in the bottom module. The symmetrical, artistic design of the camera module adds to the phone’s elegance. Then there’s the usual Vivo branding on the left and Zeiss branding placed within the camera module. On the right edge, there is a power button and volume buttons. The placing of these buttons is spot on as I could easily turn the volume up and down using my thumb while holding the phone. The bottom edge has the Type-C charging port and speakers along with the SIM tray. On the front, the phone comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is surrounded by slim bezels that result in an immersive experience and also has a punch-hole notch which enhances the experience. The display comes with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. I watched a couple of episodes of The Modern Family and The Walking Dead on Netflix and loved the experience. <h2>Vivo V40 Pro review: Software, performance and battery</h2> When it comes to performance, the V40 Pro meets expectations. The phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ processor and everyday tasks feel smooth and seamless. Whether you're making calls, jotting down notes in a meeting, editing photos in Adobe Lightroom, or playing games, the phone can take care of it all. I didn’t encounter any lags or performance issues, even with multiple apps running simultaneously. In fact, I managed to have 18 apps open at once without the phone slowing down, showcasing its impressive multitasking capabilities. I also played a couple of games on the phone including COD Mobile, Genshin Impact, The Sims Freeplay and Battlegrounds Mobile India. The phone was capable of running all the games perfectly at medium and high graphic settings. It did get fairly warm after some intense gameplay but it never got to the point where I had to keep it down. The speakers, enough to fill up a medium-sized room, felt adequate. If your usage is light, it might last a couple of hours over that too. Hence, the battery life is quite impressive. I used the phone at work extensively every day and found myself reaching for a charger only on the following morning when I woke up. When I played Battlegrounds Mobile India on the phone for an hour, the battery dropped by 13 per cent. I was playing with full brightness on. Hence, if you are gaming on the phone for long hours, it is a good idea to have your charger next to you. The phone also charged to a full 100 per cent in about 50 minutes. On the software side, the Vivo V40 Pro runs <keyword id="21133649" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FuntouchOS-14" source="keywords">FuntouchOS 14</keyword>, built on Android 14. While the interface is feature-rich, it does come with a fair amount of bloatware. In my opinion, the Zeiss Natural mode delivers the most accurate colour reproduction, and it quickly became my go-to for its lifelike results. When I was out celebrating my birthday at a low-lit cafe at night, it was a delight having this phone around to capture special moments with my loved ones. The phone is also great for group selfies, as it captures as many as 15 people perfectly. In terms of portrait photography, the V40 Pro once again offers great texture and detail. He has made a habit of watching TV with his wife every night and dropping his oldest daughter at school."I think I fill up my cup in terms of personal fulfillment so that my time that I'm at work, I can really, really focus and dedicate to that and kind of maximize the time that I have here."Gidan Dan's key ritual at work is consistently staying in touch with his clients, but at home, the Citadel Securities senior vice president takes the chance to relax."A lot of my colleagues are really good runners and they work out and everything. I'm completely different," he said. "I think I work long enough hours, so I don't want to exhaust myself too much. So I would just go home, and taking care of my kids is enjoyable but exhausting stuff," Dan said of his two daughters, aged 1 and 4. Feroz Khosla, a managing director at Goldman Sachs, isn't just looking for work-life balance, but "work-life harmony — which just means, when you look back at your career, you feel as if there was harmony between work and life," he told BI."Sometimes, you do need to have the power to say no, but do it gracefully," he said. "Maybe the answer is sure, but not right now—and being able to do that without disappointing people is super helpful."

Wall Street's hacks and habits to stay on top of their game 

Have you ever wondered why some bosses, despite their abusive behaviour, are revered and tolerated? Take <keyword id="19907283" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="steve-jobs" source="keywords">Steve Jobs</keyword>, for example. While his leadership pushed Apple to the top, there are countless examples of Jobs being a general jerk to the people around him. Many accounts note that the Apple visionary was often observed yelling and name-calling his employees when irked — behaviour certainly unworthy of any ‘Best Boss Ever!’ mugs. But how do employees reconcile such behaviour? What makes them willing to stay under such crass leadership? A new study has answered these questions, revealing that a leader's success can significantly influence how employees interpret their actions — including abusive behaviour in some instances. <h2><keyword id="21268696" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tough-love" source="keywords">Tough love</keyword>, and little else</h2>The research surveyed 576 workers from various industries across the United States, reporting on their bosses' abusive behaviours, such as ridicule and dismissive comments, and rated their overall effectiveness. The findings showed that employees who viewed their bosses as high performers were more likely to label the abuse as "tough love" rather than outright abuse. Descriptions of tough love included phrases like “stern but caring,” “insensitive but nurturing,” and “rough but well-meaning.” “If employees see their boss as a successful leader, that seems to be incompatible with being abusive,” explained study author Robert Lount. “So they label the abuse as something more positive, like ‘tough love”. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="111556067" title="Having Elon Musk as a boss is a tough gig — just ask X&amp;#39;s Linda Yaccarino" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>Interestingly, the study also found that employees who were subjected to abuse by high-performing bosses endured it out of hope for better <keyword id="21068409" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="career-prospects" source="keywords">career prospects</keyword>. They thought enduring such treatment might lead to promotions, which made them less likely to rebel against their tormentors. “If the leaders have high performance, that suggests they are successful at bringing out the skills of their followers,” notes author Bennett Tepper. However, this could not be further from the truth, considering how years of research have already shown that abusive behaviour is detrimental to both employees and organisations. <h2>Students think similarly</h2>These findings were further fortified in the second part of the study where 168 undergraduate students were misled into thinking they were working in teams led by MBA students. Some received abusive messages from their fictional “leaders,” while others got encouraging ones. After being told their teams either excelled or underperformed, the students evaluated their leaders. Those who received abusive messages rated their leaders as less abusive if their team performed well. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="111380874" title="Gen Z workers vs. millennial bosses: &amp;#39;Having high expectations and wanting work-life balance and an employer who cares isn&amp;#39;t a bad thing&amp;#39;" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>“Just finding out your team did better because of your leader’s judgement really dampened the willingness to label that person as abusive — even though your leader made the exact same statements as the other leaders who were called abusive after a below-average performance,” Lount remarked. This might also explain how some abusive bosses manage to sustain longer careers. As per the authors, the high performers' track record may be “insulating” them from consequences because their employees refuse to view them as an abusive character. This study is a wake-up call for organisations to scrutinise not just what leaders achieve, but how they achieve it. No matter how impressive the results, abusive behaviour should never be excused in the name of success. Perry was the guest of honor at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday. Just over 15 years after she released her major label debut, "One of the Boys," <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mtv-vmas-michael-jackson-video-vanguard-award-winners">Perry became the latest Video Vanguard recipient</a>, the VMA version of a lifetime achievement award. Performing a career-spanning medley at the VMAs as a Vanguard winner should be a victory lap. Especially for someone like Perry, one of the biggest stars of the late aughts and early 2010s, whose seminal album "Teenage Dream" is one of only two in history to yield <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.billboard.com/pro/katy-perry-teenage-dream-five-hot-100-number-ones/">five No. 1 songs</a>. Perry immediately shot back in a flirty voice, "You would know!" Everyone erupted in giggles and applause. Perry was in full-on charmer mode. I'll admit I had very low expectations for her Vanguard performance. If you had asked me yesterday about the night's most anticipated entertainers, Perry wouldn't have even made the shortlist. (The answer would've been <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sabrina-carpenter-short-n-sweet-album-review-2024-8">Sabrina Carpenter</a> and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chappell-roan-pink-pony-club-song-history-success-2024-9">Chappell Roan</a>, obviously.) But when Perry took the stage — or, rather, hovered above it — and opened with an acrobatic combination of "Dark Horse" and "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://youtu.be/t5Sd5c4o9UM?si=o79d8LrBCr72V7we">ET</a>," my honest-to-god first thought was, "Damn. She got me." Perry's signature hits still sound as fun, fresh, and freaky as ever. At her creative peak, Perry's lyrics were cheeky, her melodies stickier than anyone's. Even as I'm writing this, the morning after the VMAs, I've repeatedly caught myself humming, "Kiss me, k-k-kiss me." The highlight was easily "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://youtu.be/98WtmW-lfeE?si=CYWecdg0SgVdh0kk">Teenage Dream</a>," the title track from Perry's 2010 album and one of the most perfectly constructed pop songs of all time. After the show ended hours later, I heard a girl say in a hushed, reverent tone, "Being so close to Katy Perry singing 'Teenage Dream' was… surreal." And it was. The sheer power of Perry's early discography on display last night was both her triumph and her downfall. Perry has timeless hits in her catalog. No one can take that away from her. But by mixing them into a medley with singles from "143," Perry's latest work sounds even more hollow and derivative by comparison. Perry's collaboration with Doechii, "I'm His, He's Mine," out tomorrow, had the misfortune of being sandwiched in between "ET" and "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://youtu.be/F57P9C4SAW4?si=1uUSYKvaJuKkFcsj">California Gurls</a>." There's nothing wrong with the duet per se, but it had the effect of an interlude — a forced hiatus before getting back to the stuff we all know and love. Perry and Doechii carefully executed their intimate, tabloid-baiting choreography, interlacing their legs (<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wap-grammys-cardi-b-complaints-fcc-megan-thee-stallion-2021-4">à la Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion</a>) and putting their faces close enough to kiss, as if they were trying to be shocking to distract from the song itself. Perry capped off the medley with "Lifetimes," a by-the-numbers dance song, which would've been an underwhelming closer even if it hadn't been preceded by the one-two punch of "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://youtu.be/tAp9BKosZXs?si=IXFxFuxwPJqv9AR_">I Kissed a Girl</a>" and "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://youtu.be/QGJuMBdaqIw?si=OTolE_WooKMpG6JY">Firework</a>." I would never recommend chasing fireworks with a plastic bag drifting through the wind. If Perry wanted to deliver an impressive spectacle and sing her heart out, then she most definitely succeeded. But if she aimed to prove that her new songs could hang with her beloved hits, I regret to report that she failed.
