<ul><li>INOX’s total revenues rose by 19% to ₹518 crore and EBITDA grew at 25% and reached ₹108 crore. </li><li>INOX’s advertising revenue has gone up by 3% and stands at ₹58 crore. Housefull 4 and War were the top draws.</li></ul>INOX Leisure (INOX) reported financials for the third quarter ending 31st December 2019. The results were taken on record by the Board of Directors today at a meeting held in Mumbai. As per its statement, INOX’s advertising revenue has gone up by 3% and stands at ₹58 crore. Its footfall showed a 11% growth as INOX sold 17 million tickets in the Quarter. It closed the 3rd Quarter of FY2020 with a total revenues at ₹518 crore, reporting 19% growth, on a Y-on-Y basis. At ₹108 crore, EBITDA delivered a 25% growth and PAT stood at ₹51 crore with a 40% growth. INOX also rolled out its loyalty program, INOX REWARDS. This tier-based cinema loyalty program has already garnered more than 4 million members, within two months of its launch. The launch of INOX REWARDS also commemorated the historic milestone of 600 screens across the country. While action film War and comedy movie Housefull 4 were the top draws, content-driven movies like Bala and Good Newwz also played their part in inviting guests to INOX multiplexes across the country. The company has added 46 new screens in FY20 so far. Continuing its focus on technology, formats and experiences, INOX developed a multiplex at C21 Mall, Indore with 9 screens and 1486 seats, including INSIGNIA, MX4D and Club. INOX's advertising revenue grew by 3% to ₹58 crore

Moreover, the Delhi government on July 24 announced a slew of unlocking measures and allowed the cinema halls and theatres, and multiplexes to function with 50% capacity. Shares of Inox Leisure and PVR gained 6% and 1.3% respectively on July 27 at 12:51 p.m. Foreign portfolio investor (FPI) holdings in Inox Leisure have <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/markets/stock-markets/fpis-mfs-increase-stake-in-pvr-inox-leisure/article35546798.ece">reportedly</a> gone up by 8.09% year-on-year to 16.44% as of April-June 2021 from 9.53% in the same quarter last year. Also, mutual funds’ holdings also went up to 23.09% from 19.72% during the same period. It may be looking to expand its content streaming platform Prime Video. Reacting to the report, Inox Leisure released a statement on exchanges saying there are no discussions taking place with Amazon, nor were there any such discussions in the past. The film, which falls under Anand’s YRF spy universe, has also recorded the widest Hindi release of all time in India. It’s also the third YRF Film to cross ₹50 crore in net box office collections on the first day. The other two films were Hrithik Roshan starrer War (₹53.35 crore) and Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan (₹52.25 crore). According to YRF, "Pathaan" has broken some 21 box office records. “Pathaan is the fourth film of our YRF Spy Universe and we are thrilled that we have been able to elevate the cinematic experience of audiences with each film from this franchise. We humbly share this moment with all the stake-holders of the film who have given their blood, sweat and tears to give people a movie-going experience like never before,” shared Widhani. In 2022, the Indian film industry recorded a gross box-office collection of ₹10,637 crore, according to a GroupM-Ormax Media report. But the majority of collections came from non-Hindi films. Nearly half of all stocks on these indices are in red but heavyweight Reliance alone has managed to keep mood afloat. The spike in RIL's share price has put it back in the race of becoming the highest valued Indian company trailing behind Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) by $1 billion. Jio's competitors, Airtel and Vodafone Idea, are already feeling the pressure with their stocks taking a dip when the markets opened today morning. But both Airtel and Vodafone Idea have more to fear than just Jio Fibre. The Aramco energy Jio's mobile phone services has about 340 million subscribers as of now. Ambani is targeting to take this number to over 500 million over the next few months. That would mean Jio will remain an aggressive player in the market and that's bad news for other players like Airtel and Vodafone Idea. Given that RIL is getting additional cash from Aramco and BP, and if it becomes a zero net debt company by March 2021, the company of its size and scale will only have more money to muscle out other players with its aggressive pricing. Now, multiplexes, too, have taken a hit with recently released movies making their way onto OTT platforms not too long after their release in theatres. A growing trend among viewers is to wait out for the movie to be available on platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime and thus ditching a trip to the movie theatre. Big multiplex chains in India like PVR and Inox are already feeling the pressure of these OTT platforms. Both companies own about 1,300 multiplexes in India. Last year, <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Consumer/vCLS2PIssTsdNzKpuAaaIJ/Exhibitors-struggle-as-Bollywood-leans-towards-OTT.html">multiplex owners </a>started asking for a longer window before a movie is made available on OTT platforms. When GST was introduced in India, it had also hit multiplex owners with the high entertainment tax of 28%. In December 2018, the GST <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Consumer/3bb6WIluNA9fDodLDRGuuI/Big-relief-for-film-industry-GST-rate-on-movie-tickets-redu.html">rate cut</a> was introduced providing a big relief to multiplexes, especially single screen theatre owners. The rate cut brought down the tax on movie tickets to 18%. However, despite that, there is still a growing threat from OTT platforms that promise of entertainment in a viewer’s comfort zone. Moreover, OTT platforms come with cheaper subscription models – Netflix plans in India start at about ₹500 per month while Amazon Prime offers a low price of ₹129 per month.
