The Titan V is aimed at scientists and researchers in the artificial intelligence field.The chip is about nine times more powerful than its predecessor, according to Nvidia. The new card illustrates Nvidia's focus on powering the next generation of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as the company is focusing on addressing the needs of researchers before releasing a card for the video gaming market.'"Our vision for Volta was to push the outer limits of high performance computing and AI," Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said in a news release. "We broke new ground with its new processor architecture, instructions, numerical formats, memory architecture and processor links."The new cards are available for purchase from Nvidia, but they are being used in data centers for researchers to use via the cloud. These stocks are based on the most-popular positions at a group of around 175 hedge funds, based on their 13F filings. The basket is then updated once a quarter.And just like some hedge funds, the app doesn't only go long stocks. It has a hedging function that uses a portion of its clients' capital to bet against the benchmark S&amp;P 500 during downturns, like during <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/stock-market-news-fighting-prevent-worst-december-since-great-depression-2018-12-1027835946">the stock-market weakness at the end of last year</a>. According to Titan's website, its strategy was down 7.5% from launch in February 2018 through the end of the year, versus a 6.1% drop in the S&amp;P 500. Through the first two months of 2019, Titan's portfolio is up 15.7%, versus an 11.5% increase in the S&amp;P 500.The app personalizes the percentage of the portfolio that is hedged, based on the investing style derived from questions it asks users about their risk tolerance. For example, a conservative portfolio has 20% of its value hedged, and an aggressive one has 5%. Titan requires users to deposit at least $500 to gain access to its research and other services. It charges a 1% annual advisory fee, but no performance fee. By comparison, many passive exchange-traded funds in the US charge <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/funds-could-launch-a-zero-fee-etf-2018-12">0.04% or even no</a> annual management fee, while hedge funds have historically charged a 2% management fee plus around 20% of the annual profit.Business Insider took Titan's fund-management offering for a spin to see how it works:

<ul><li>Titan revised its revenue guidance from 20% to 11-13% year-on-year. </li><li>In its Q2 earnings, Titan’s net profit rose by 2% to ₹320 crores. </li><li>But it also saw a 2% fall in standalone jewellery revenues. </li></ul>It was a muted festive season and that is reflecting in Titan’s quarterly earnings that ended in September. Its standalone jewellery revenues fell by 2%. More importantly, it cut its revenue growth forecast from 20% to 11-13% for the current fiscal. As expected, its stock fell by 10% intra-day to trade at ₹1163 at 2.25 pm after its earnings were declared yesterday evening. After the management itself lowered its outlook, most brokerages followed suit. UBS group maintained its BUY rating but at a lower price target. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs maintained a neutral rating and also cut its price target. JP Morgan downgraded Titan to neutral. “In Q2FY20, muted consumer sentiment and sharp increases in gold prices hurt demand for jewellery. According to management, low ticket size discretionary purchase items were worst impacted. High promotions in August and September helped mitigate this somewhat with the non-discretionary wedding jewellery portfolio growing 30% year-on-year in Q2FY20,” said the UBS report. Titan reported 1.5% annual decline in profits despite actual retail growth of 7% due to maturity of hedges, added the report. In the second quarter, Titan’s net profit rose marginally by 2% to ₹320 crore.

Somewhat exceptionally, the crypto fund's biggest holding will not be bitcoin, Gardner said. Instead, Titan is bullish on <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/currencies/eth-usd">ethereum</a> - especially its emerging DeFi applications - and is allocating 50% of the fund to the cryptocurrency. "The large decline in share repurchases would likely lead to slower EPS growth and wider trading ranges with higher volatility."Despite the potential headwind, Goldman forecasts solid EPS growth of 6%, while less political uncertainty will push the S&amp;P 500 up 7% next year.<h2>The importance of buybacks</h2>Companies buy back shares to show their confidence and reduce their share count, which boosts their earnings per share. The practice has contributed to the median S&amp;P 500 company reporting EPS growth of 11% versus earnings growth of 8% over the past 15 years, Goldman said. Fewer buybacks could lessen support for equity prices and raise price volatility, it added.Apple is one example of a company that has cut its stock repurchases. Shares of the company rose as much as 10% crossing the ₹2 trillion mark in market capitalisation. Footfalls at malls and large format stores, for the chain, are still at 65% and 70% of pre-pandemic levels respectively. As festivities come near large fashion accessory companies like Titan witness a strong demand recovery pushing sales almost back to pre covid levels. With covid restrictions easing down, stores become fully operational in most of its stores known for selling luxurious products. Analysts believe that Titan is growing its jewellery business as there lies a huge scope of revenues. “Titan is targeting to gain market share in the Jewellery segment due to strong focus on wedding segment, huge scope for store expansion (40-50 stores every year), and gold harvest &amp; gold exchange schemes. Further, the shift from unorganized (currently 70%) to organized (currently 30%) in the Jewellery segment will benefit branded players like Titan due to strong brand positioning and superior quality.
