Others seem to be for perhaps less above-board uses, like how to get advanced versions of OpenAI's advanced tools to produce content that could outsmart AI-detectors. Users are also sharing prompts to help with creative work, like writing fiction and short films, to help writers looking for frameworks or starting off points to help overcome the challenge of the blank page. There are also a range of prompts for developers looking to boost their code and experiment with programming languages. A representative for OpenAI did not immediately respond to Insider's emailed request for comment on Monday afternoon. ChatGPT's popularity has led to a number of other interactive generative AI tools on the market or coming soon, including <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chatgpt-gpt-3-5-powering-new-microsoft-bing-search-engine-2023-2">Microsoft's Bing chatbot that launched in February</a>, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-new-ai-powered-search-will-look-very-different-2023-5">Google's new AI-driven search</a> that the tech giant unveiled this month to a number of testers. OpenAI itself <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gpt-4-openai-model-api-details-2023-3">revealed its GPT-4 tool in March</a>, touting its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gpt4-openai-chatgpt-everything-you-need-to-know-4-2023-3">advanced abilities to process information</a>. In fact, he recently called it a "horrible product" in a podcast interview. "People are really just going to a site that sometimes works and sometimes is down," Altman said on the New York Times <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hard-fork/id1528594034">tech podcast</a>, "Hard Fork," citing ChatGPT's frequent error messages. "They're typing in something, they're trying until they get it right, and then they're copying that answer and going to paste it in somewhere else — and then going back and trying to integrate that with search results or their other workflows," he added, seeming to reference the product's simplistic design. ChatGPT has taken the internet by storm since it launched in November. Reddit has come to TikTok — and they offer a potent alternative to the platform's typical seconds-long format. For proof of their popularity, you only need to look at the hashtag<a href="https://www.tiktok.com/tag/askreddit"> #askreddit</a>, which has over 10 billion views. There are <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/search/user?q=reddit&amp;t=1663603077628">hundreds of accounts</a> devoted to transforming Reddit threads and questions into digestible bite-sized videos. It's the anonymity that helps people feel comfortable confessing their deepest secrets. "Because of our pseudonymous model, people can be their true selves here and share their unfiltered experiences, thoughts, opinions, questions, etc. that resonate with others around the world," a Reddit spokesperson told Insider. People gravitate toward the storytelling content, says<a href="http://www.draditipaul.com"> Aditi Paul, Ph.D.</a>, a communications strategist and tech and relationship expert, because it allows TikTok users to indulge in each other's "messy, authentic, goofy, imperfect selves," she told Insider. Because the videos tend to be more detailed, they're also longer than <a href="https://sociality.io/blog/tiktok-video-length/#:~:text=use%20the%20feature.-,Average%20TikTok%20video%20length,to%20this%20video%20length%20limit.">your typical TikTok video</a> and typically run between 90 seconds and 3 minutes.That's still pretty short, but it's relatively lengthy compared to the average TikTok clip — which is 21 to 34 seconds long — and the average attention span. However, the app is still investing in long-form video content (they've even tested 10-minute videos among beta testers). TikTok's goal for long-form videos, <a href="https://www.wired.co.uk/article/tiktok-wants-longer-videos-like-not?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=onsite-share&amp;utm_brand=wired-uk&amp;utm_social-type=earned">according to WIRED</a>, is to invest in more ads and grow its revenue.So are Reddit storytelling videos doing TikTok a favor and expanding the user's attention spans? It gets a bit complex as some research says it's motion that captures attention, and some say [it's] the appearance of a new perceptual object. It's not necessarily visual motion that's salient, it's the onset of visual motion that really catches someone's attention. I think the Reddit videos do a really good job of catering to this," she told Insider.These videos work, said <a href="https://www.wavewyld.com/">Wave Wyld</a>, a Toronto-based TikTok marketing and trends expert, because they "start with a question that sparks curiosity, such as 'What's your most shameful NSFW moment?' This immediately gets the viewer interested and wanting to hear more," she told Insider. Since the videos have a similar "formula," users are able to recognize the type of video they're about to watch. "[These videos] have a distinctive format and style, so when a user is scrolling and stumbles upon them, they notice and say to themselves, 'Oh, this is a Reddit story, I like these videos, I will watch it,'" Wyld added.From a neuropsychological point of view, the fact that these videos follow a similar format and style could also be why they're so popular. Their familiarity, said Wolkin, feeds our need for dopamine. "It's the neurotransmitter associated with reward and pleasure. It's something we seek out as humans, and each time we scroll and see something that resonates with us, we are getting a hit of it."

The agency surveyed 30 marketers across 14 different industry categories and reviewed 235 influencer campaigns from last year for its study.Instagram continues to dominate sponsored content budgets, even as companies like TikTok <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-hits-15-billion-downloads-outperforming-instagram-2019-11">are growing faster</a> and releasing new products to draw in creators and brands. Just 7% of those surveyed said they were currently spending on TikTok. But that's likely to change this year. The marketers said it was the app they were most interested in testing in 2020."TikTok has seen huge success positioning itself as more of an entertainment-based platform as opposed to Instagram which is more focused on quality and aesthetic," said Joe Gagliese, cofounder and CEO of the influencer-marketing firm Viral Nation. Instagram's dominance in influencer marketing may be tied to its seniority in the category and its natural connection to fashion and consumer products. The app launched seven years before TikTok in the US, and the company offers a <a href="https://help.instagram.com/116947042301556" target="_blank" rel="noopener">variety of tools</a> for branded content that aren't available on competing platforms."Instagram is appealing in the influencer marketing space because it offers a seamless path to conversion through the swipe-up feature on Instagram Stories, especially in the fashion/lifestyle landscape," Gagliese said. Other platforms perform better for certain verticals, with YouTube and Twitch dominating the gaming and tech space, he added. TikTok has recently introduced new tech in an effort to compete for marketing dollars, but its ad strategy is still in its infancy.The company's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-influencer-marketers-use-tiktoks-creator-marketplace-features-2020-1">creator marketplace</a> and self-serve ad platforms are both currently only available to beta testers, and the platform only recently introduced <a href="https://twitter.com/davejorgenson/status/1229910773545230336" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linking in profiles</a>, a key feature for promoting brand content. "The addition of the link-in-bio feature is very enticing to marketer's within the space, and the platform's paid ad capabilities open a whole new door for both brands and agencies," Gagliese said. "Nonetheless, without a feature that allows an organic path to conversion, they won't be catching Instagram anytime soon."TikTok's unique algorithm for surfacing content - which has enabled some creators to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-photographer-gains-3-million-followers-3-months-quits-job-2020-1">gain millions of followers in just a few months</a> - also presents challenges for influencer marketers who are looking for a degree of predictability around reach and engagement when paying for sponsored posts."On Instagram you can just get a bunch of influencers together and then run a campaign," said Anish Dalal, CEO of the marketing firm Sapphire Apps. "On TikTok, you really don't have any choices to make. The algorithm makes all the choices. The feed is a continuous feed."Despite the app's growing pains, some marketers who have tested influencer marketing on TikTok say they've seen promising results.Tally, a financial technology company that makes apps for automated debt management and savings, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-ads-more-efficient-than-instagram-fintech-startup-tally-2020-2">told Business Insider</a> that the cost to get a user to download its app was 300% cheaper when running ads on TikTok versus Instagram. F'real Foods, a milkshake brand that joined TikTok last year, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/milkshake-brand-freal-tiktok-influencer-marketing-success-analysis-2020-1">has generated tens of millions of paid and organic video views</a> on TikTok through influencer marketing. An interesting side effect: The L Brands-owned Bath &amp; Body Works will become a standalone company. After the sale was announced, the co-CEO of Victoria's Secret rival ThirdLove said the news was a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/victorias-secret-sale-thirdlove-ceo-comments-2020-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"positive step"</a> for the industry.Big picture: Victoria's Secret has been struggling for months as it loses <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/victorias-secret-downward-spiral-explained-2018-11">relevance among shoppers</a> and controversial <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/victorias-secret-addresses-plus-size-problem-interview-2018-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executives</a> cause issues at the head of the company. Now, at least one analyst <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/victorias-secret-new-owner-sycamore-partners-plans-for-store-2020-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expects</a> the company's new owner to reimagine the product line to ditch sexiness for comfort and functionality.<h2>Target is being hit with a labor board investigation <img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5e4ef039a27fc533bc1c811c-2400/target store.jpg" alt="Target store" />Mark Wilson/ Getty</h2>Target is being <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/target-blocks-activist-website-server-for-promoting-hate-racism-2020-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused of restricting workers' rights.</a> An employee activist website was blocked from store servers last week and flagged for "hate and racism."Adam Ryan, liaison for the employee activist group Target Workers Unite, filed an unfair labor practices charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) on Friday, claiming that blocking the website falls under discouraging union activity in disciplining or retaliating against employees engaging in protected activities.I got the scoop on how this all went down. According to a Target spokesperson, a third-party company is responsible for blocking and flagging would-be problematic websites on Target's server. Target determines which categories of flagged websites should be denied access, but it is not directly involved in the process of blocking specific websites.Target said it flagged the issue to the third-party company and the website was moved into a new, unblocked category, late Friday. What's next? The NLRB received <a href="https://www.nlrb.gov/news-outreach/graphs-data/charges-and-complaints/charges-and-complaints" target="_blank" rel="noopener">18,552</a> charges in the 2019 fiscal year. Now, an investigation is under way to see if the incident could count as an unfair labor practice.<h2>Burger King touts a moldy Whopper</h2><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5e4fe415fee23d06ff6b91fa-2056/screen shot 2020-02-18 at 14517 pm.png" alt="Screenshot of moldy Whopper video" />Courtesy of Burger KingBurger King launched an ad with a moldy Whopper.A moldy Whopper is at the center of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/burger-king-moldy-whopper-ad-campaign-showcases-no-preservatives-2020-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Burger King's new ad campaign</a>. The fast-food brand posted a video to YouTube on Wednesday that showed a Whopper growing old and moldy. Though it might seem gross at first glance, the ad is meant to represent the chain's move away from preservatives and artificial flavors. Irene wrote about how this move is part of a larger trend in the fast-food industry, which involves a push toward "natural" and socially conscious foods.The move was risky, but marketing execs seem to think it could pay off."We knew that the approach was different and that some people would think that it's too risky or would hurt us," Fernando Machado, Burger King's global chief marketing officer, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-strategy-behind-burger-king-moldy-whopper-ad-campaign-2020-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told Business Insider's Tanya Dua</a>.
