New Delhi, Jul 3 () Diagnostic laboratory chain Thyrocare Technologies on Friday said it has launched 'Covid Antibody Tests' facility at its labs across the country. The test identifies if a person has had the novel coronavirus at some point in the past and has produced the antibodies to fight it. The test kits and procedures have been approved by ICMR, and the company has made the test available pan India, Thyrocare said in a statement. The test is done as sero-surveillance, which is a reference to understand the spread of infection in a community by looking for antibody generation in an exposed individual. This test is not for diagnosis purposes, it added. The test will help to understand what percentage of the population got exposed to the virus and developed antibodies to fight the virus, Thyrocare said. "The antibody tests will equip us with data and information regarding the immunity levels of citizens in our country," Thyrocare Technologies Founder and CEO A Velumani said. The company has conducted about 10,000 tests in cities where the virus is spreading rapidly in the last week, out of which 6.8 per cent of people have tested positive for the antibody tests, he added. As the virus spreads rapidly in India, these tests will prove to be extremely crucial and important to bring back normalcy, the statement said.  These companies are <keyword id="1869462" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Advanced-Enzyme-Technologies">Advanced Enzyme Technologies</keyword>, <keyword id="3257310" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="KPR-Agrochem">KPR Agrochem</keyword>, <keyword id="3257311" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="S-P-Apparels-and-Thyrocare-Technologies">S P Apparels and Thyrocare Technologies</keyword>. 
 
While SEBI has not disclosed the details of the clarifications that it seeks from these companies, it has said that it is awaiting response from their merchant bankers and lead managers.

While <keyword id="176" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="arora" source="Orion">Arora</keyword> argued that the pharma sector has always needed employees to upskill themselves and keep up with the newest scientific discoveries and diseases, he identified automation and the effective use of data analytics as two big changes in the industry. “The talent has been quite fungible over the last one or one and a half years. It is not just for pharma, it is across industries and the globe. But pharma got more impacted because it’s a knowledge industry, and a lot of people who carry that knowledge can’t be substituted by somebody who just comes in with the same number of years or background of education. Hence the need to quickly train the new people coming in and make sure that the delivery was not impacted.” said Amitava Saha, President and CHRO, Biocon Group. Saha noted that things are changing rapidly in the industry, not just in laboratories but also in manufacturing units. “The rules are changing, as are the efficiency indexes,” he said, adding that the use of technology is inevitable in such a situation. “Imagine the pace at which the (Covid-19) vaccine was developed without compromising on any regulatory process. Digital transformation was the backbone,” noted Dr. Anil Kukreja, Vice President, Medical Affairs and Regulatory, Astrazeneca India. He added that real-time data analytics were instrumental in bringing insights into research, and sharing those insights with regulators across the world. Further, <keyword id="275963" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="yugal-sikri" source="Orion">Yugal Sikri</keyword>, Managing Director, RPG Life Sciences, pointed out that the pharma industry is unique because “your product is a technical product”. “You have to have techno and commercial, both dimensions clear, because the industry is extremely competitive. Particularly the generic (drug) industry is extremely competitive, we have 10,000 odd companies in India (alone). So you need to have both the techno and commercial skills,” he said. The need for upskilling though is not the responsibility of employees alone. “One of the things that we hear during this Great Resignation is that people are moving jobs, and one of the reasons they cite is that they’re not learning enough. So they’re trying to learn somewhere else,” said <keyword id="13003481" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dulles-krishnan" source="Orion">Dulles Krishnan</keyword>, Managing Director, Coursera Enterprise, India and ANZ. The Mumbai-based startup currently has a workforce of over 6,100 employees. Seven-year old PharmEasy claims that the initiative to launch a new development centre coincides with the increased digital adoption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company claims that this increased customer demand has also increased the demand for tech skills across the spectrum. “The new facilities will serve as a significant hub for driving development and innovation,” Abhinav Yajurvedi, chief technology officer (CTO) of PharmEasy. Founded by Dharmil Sheth, Dhaval Shah, Harsh Parekh, Hardik Dedhia, and Siddharth Shah, PharmEasy caters to the chronic care segment and offers a range of services such as teleconsultation, medicine deliveries, and sample collections for diagnostic tests. It operates a business-to-business (B2B) pharma marketplace with 6,000 consultation clinics with 90,000 partner retailers pan India. PharmEasy’s parent company API Holdings became the first Indian startup to acquire a publicly listed company, after it acquired A Velumani-led diagnostics chain Thyrocare Technologies for ₹4,546 crore ($612 million) in June.
