New Delhi, Jul 3 () Diagnostic laboratory chain Thyrocare Technologies on Friday said it has launched 'Covid Antibody Tests' facility at its labs across the country. The test identifies if a person has had the novel coronavirus at some point in the past and has produced the antibodies to fight it. The test kits and procedures have been approved by ICMR, and the company has made the test available pan India, Thyrocare said in a statement. The test is done as sero-surveillance, which is a reference to understand the spread of infection in a community by looking for antibody generation in an exposed individual. This test is not for diagnosis purposes, it added. The test will help to understand what percentage of the population got exposed to the virus and developed antibodies to fight the virus, Thyrocare said. "The antibody tests will equip us with data and information regarding the immunity levels of citizens in our country," Thyrocare Technologies Founder and CEO A Velumani said. The company has conducted about 10,000 tests in cities where the virus is spreading rapidly in the last week, out of which 6.8 per cent of people have tested positive for the antibody tests, he added. As the virus spreads rapidly in India, these tests will prove to be extremely crucial and important to bring back normalcy, the statement said.  These companies are <keyword id="1869462" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Advanced-Enzyme-Technologies">Advanced Enzyme Technologies</keyword>, <keyword id="3257310" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="KPR-Agrochem">KPR Agrochem</keyword>, <keyword id="3257311" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="S-P-Apparels-and-Thyrocare-Technologies">S P Apparels and Thyrocare Technologies</keyword>. 
 
While SEBI has not disclosed the details of the clarifications that it seeks from these companies, it has said that it is awaiting response from their merchant bankers and lead managers.

It is not just for pharma, it is across industries and the globe. But pharma got more impacted because it’s a knowledge industry, and a lot of people who carry that knowledge can’t be substituted by somebody who just comes in with the same number of years or background of education. Hence the need to quickly train the new people coming in and make sure that the delivery was not impacted.” said Amitava Saha, President and CHRO, Biocon Group. Saha noted that things are changing rapidly in the industry, not just in laboratories but also in manufacturing units. “The rules are changing, as are the efficiency indexes,” he said, adding that the use of technology is inevitable in such a situation. “Imagine the pace at which the (Covid-19) vaccine was developed without compromising on any regulatory process. The need for upskilling though is not the responsibility of employees alone. “One of the things that we hear during this Great Resignation is that people are moving jobs, and one of the reasons they cite is that they’re not learning enough. <ul><li>The possible resurgence of Covid-19 in the country spooked investors on Wednesday, with the benchmark indices <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> and Nifty50 falling 1%.</li><li>While the 30-stock Sensex lost 635 points to close at 61,067, the 50-stock Nifty50 closed 186 points lower at 18,199.</li><li>Pharma stocks dominated the list of top gainers on the Nifty50 index, with the top five stocks all being from this sector.</li></ul>Indian benchmark indices closed nearly 1% lower on Wednesday as rising Covid cases in China brought back worries of an economic slowdown. Most of the sectoral indices closed the day in the red, with metals, banks and realty stocks amongst the top losers. While the 30-stock Sensex lost 635 points to close at 61,067, the 50-stock Nifty50 closed 186 points lower at 18,199. All sectoral indices were in the red except information technology and pharmaceuticals. The Nifty IT index closed 0.53% higher while the Nifty Pharma index ended 2.39% higher. The top five gainers on the Nifty50 index were all pharma stocks, as mounting concerns of Covid-19 resurgence pushed stocks of hospitals, pathology labs and select companies which make Covid-related drugs. This includes Divi’s Labs (4.88%), Cipla (3.51%), Apollo Hospitals (3.34%), Sun Pharmaceuticals (2.13%), and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (0.99%). “Investors are also worried that mounting Covid cases in China may lead to further deterioration in global economic health prompting traders to cut their equity market exposure,” said Shrikant Chouhan, head of equity research (retail), Kotak Securities. India VIX, an index that measures volatility in the markets, rose sharply by 12.94% to 15.56, indicating a rise in fear among investors. The Indian rupee closed the day marginally lower at 82.81 against the US dollar, with a decline of 5 paise. Meanwhile, minutes of the Reserve Bank of India’s three-day monetary policy committee meeting are expected to be released later today. Foreign institutional investors (FII) were net sellers on Wednesday, pulling out ₹1,119 crore while domestic institutional investors (DII) were net buyers, pumping ₹1,757 crore. While Nikkei 225 lost the most with a 0.68% fall, it was followed by the Shanghai SE Composite Index, which fell 0.17%. However, the Taiwan SE Weighted Index gained 0.45%, while Hang Seng gained 0.34%. The Mumbai-based startup currently has a workforce of over 6,100 employees. Seven-year old PharmEasy claims that the initiative to launch a new development centre coincides with the increased digital adoption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company claims that this increased customer demand has also increased the demand for tech skills across the spectrum. “The new facilities will serve as a significant hub for driving development and innovation,” Abhinav Yajurvedi, chief technology officer (CTO) of PharmEasy. Founded by Dharmil Sheth, Dhaval Shah, Harsh Parekh, Hardik Dedhia, and Siddharth Shah, PharmEasy caters to the chronic care segment and offers a range of services such as teleconsultation, medicine deliveries, and sample collections for diagnostic tests. It operates a business-to-business (B2B) pharma marketplace with 6,000 consultation clinics with 90,000 partner retailers pan India. PharmEasy’s parent company API Holdings became the first Indian startup to acquire a publicly listed company, after it acquired A Velumani-led diagnostics chain Thyrocare Technologies for ₹4,546 crore ($612 million) in June. This acquisition has opened doors for the seven-year-old startup to list on the stock exchange directly. Pune, Jul 9 () A private laboratory in Pune has been stopped from conducting COVID-19 tests following some discrepancy in a report, a senior district official said on Thursday. District collector Naval Kishore Ram issued an order stating that one of Thyrocare's labs located in a rural area of Haveli tehsil in Pune district has been stopped from conducting COVID-19 tests. "A family from Khanapur village in Haveli tehsil underwent COVID-19 tests at a Thyrocare lab. While reports of two family members were negative, the results of a child came out positive for the infection," the collector said. After the family expressed doubts about the results, their samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), where all of them tested negative for coronavirus, he added. Following the discrepancy, COVID-19 testing at that particular laboratory in Haveli tehsil has been stopped, he said. Meanwhile, vice president of Thyrocare Technologies Chandra Shekhar said they have not received any formal communication from the district administration, but the firm will cooperate with the authorities. A valid prescription from a doctor will be needed to book a test. Currently, the services at this cost are available within 300 km radius of its Mumbai lab. Soon it plans to start the collections nationally based on lockdown restrictions.
