According to Delaporte, not only will this bring in more money, but it will also help sustain margins. Wipro creates new company-wide engine to go after large deals In order to work towards the goal of making the operating model more seamless, Delaporte has created an all-new position of a ‘chief growth officer’. One of their first tasks will be to gather the best and the brightest from the organisation to create a sales team. They will also be in charge of maintaining liaisons with global account executives, structuring a large deals team and building on existing alliances and partnerships. Delaporte also indicated that ‘global account executives’ will be assigned for the company’s top 80 to 100 accounts. They’re role will be similar to that of a client partner, but with more accountability and decision-making authority. And, with more power comes more responsibility. The executive’s primary responsibility will be to drive growth in accounts What’s next? Analysts point out that while Delaporte’s plan looks good on paper, it’s success actually hinges on execution. In the coming, it will be important to track deal wins, the value of those deals and where the management’s definition of ‘acceleration in offerings’ lies. “The plan on people changes is progressing faster than expected. Wipro CEO Delaporte’s new plan could give the Indian IT services giant the edge it needs to catch up to its peers, according to analysts

As Wipro gears itself up under new leadership, it has joined hands with the computing behemoth Intel in hopes of inking for more deals in the coming quarters. Wipro’s new CEO Theirry Delaporte expressed that the company will be focusing on ‘profitable growth’ in the coming months and Intel seems to be a part of that plan. Aside from cloud solutions, one of the major asks from clients is to enable their employees to work from home — especially from those who didn’t invest enough in their digital transformation over the last few years. They have been bearing the brunt of the coronavirus crisis over the last few weeks, according to Delaporte. “Therefore if we need to make investments, we will make those investments and that will always be our first priority,” explained Wipro CFO Jatin Dalal. Pushing on remote work solutions Intel will enable Wipro’s LIVE Workspace which will be the company’s digital workspace solution within the Intel vPro platform. It’s basically a digital hub that lets a company manage its devices remotely whether it's at home, in the workplace or somewhere remote. It also promises security against firmware-level attacks. Cybersecurity has been a central concern for many companies as the number of malware attacks during the lockdown have been on the rise. Global IT giant Cognizant was subject to a ransomware attack and another US-based law company saw its clients’ personal data get stolen off its servers.

Wipro teams up with Intel to cash in on the increasing demand for work from home

IT major <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> on Friday announced the appointment of <keyword id="3808309" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="thierry-delaporte">Thierry Delaporte</keyword> as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the company with effect from July 6, 2020. He will be based in Paris and report to Chairman <keyword id="197349" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rishad-Premji">Rishad Premji</keyword>, Wipro said in a regulatory filing. Until recently, Thierry Delaporte was the Chief Operating Officer of <keyword id="9309979" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-capgemini-group">the Capgemini Group</keyword> and a member of its Group Executive Board. During his 25-year career with Capgemini, he held several leadership roles, including that of the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Financial Services Strategic Business Unit, and head of all global service lines. He also oversaw Capgemini's lndia operations, and led the group's transformation agenda, conceptualising and driving several strategic programs across various business units. Abidali Neemuchwala will relinquish his position as CEO and MD on June 1. Rishad Premji will oversee the day to day operations of the company until July 5, the regulatory filing. Premji said: "Thierry has an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure, deep strategic expertise, a unique ability to forge long-standing client relationships, and proven experience of driving transformation and managing technological disruption. However, Wipro may have a little more to worry about. “Wipro’s high BPO contribution to revenue makes it more vulnerable to supply-side disruptions as in the current scenario,” said Nirmal Bang’s preview. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="76939426" title="Wipro has no plans of firing any employee due to COVID-19, says chairman Rishad Premji" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Given that BPOs account for more than 40% of Wipro’s IT services, revenue from IT services is expected to see an 8% decline quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) in constant currency (CC) terms, according to IDBI securities. “EBIT margins in global IT services are expected to decline 74 bps [basis points] due to a sharp dip in utilisation,” said ICICI Securities. 100 basis points make up 1%. Unlike its peers, where analysts expect the impact to be limited to particular verticals, Wipro is expected to see “broad-based impact”, according to Motilal Oswal. The product and platforms side of the business may show resilience, expects Nirmal Bang. However, the key segments to keep an eye on will be the impact on engineering research and development (ER&amp;D) and energy, given Wipro’s large exposure to both. Like with TCS, there is likely to be a hard impact of Brexit compounding the weakness in Europe on manufacturing. Even so, it’s unlikely that Wipro will issue guidance during the first-quarter earnings. Analysts expect the company to wait out another quarter before sharing its outlook for the year. “We anticipate that we will resume providing revenue guidance when we have increased certainty of both demand and supply-side factors,” Wipro said last quarter. A new CEO, Brexit and supply-side exposure may leave Wipro’s Q1 earnings more dented than others

"We were able to absorb the adverse impact of FOREX movements and still expand operating margins by 20bps," added CFO Jatin Dalal. Even though specific guidance was issued for margins, Dalal shared that the company plans to keep it within a narrow band, not accounting for unexpected currency fluctuations. Its attrition level has improved to around 11%, with the company adding more than 30,000 employees to its roster over the last three months. Despite a stable quarter, Wipro share price was down by over 6% on October 14. "After a strong and partly buyback-fuelled rally in the stock price, upsides will be modest,” added Kotak Institutional Equities in its report. Wipro's stock has had a pretty good run of late. In fact, its share price hit a new 52-week high on Monday of ₹379 a piece. Even lower margins from acquiring Capco would further put pressure on the bottom line,” added Motilal Oswal. Wipro's share price has outperformed its peers in the last year — but analysts are still cautious about giving it a 'buy' rating

Wipro management pins hope on wider margin and new clients while revenue takes a dip

It is reportedly going to be worth $1.5 billion. HCL Tech had a different experience. While it did close 11 new deals in the last three months, its clients preferred to opt for fewer or cheaper services. “We believe the primary factor for consistent pressure is due to a delay in both projects renewal and ramp-up of new projects,” said ICICI Securities. Wipro had just 2 new deals in the same period but it is pinning a lot of hope on its new CEO, Theirry Delaporte, who is focused on ‘profitable growth’. He highlighted that cloud and other digital technology is expected to accelerate in the future and will be the key focus of the company. The uncertainty around coronavirus has led to operators hitting pause on the full rollout of 5G networks, even if they’ve successfully run trials because they’re waiting for the right time. But, many deals are already in the works and research firm <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/hcl-wins-600-million-deal-from-ericsson/articleshow/77274812.cms">Omdia</a> estimates that there are 56 deals that are set to come up for renewal in the telecom space before December worth nearly $13.9 billion — including those of Nokia and IBM. New deals in the making “In 2025, we believe there will be 2.8 billion 5G subscriptions in the world,” said Ericsson’s APAC CTO Mark Ewerbring. “The total number of subscriptions is even higher at 8.9 billion. So 5G in itself is 31% of the connections,” he added.
