New Delhi, The government on Wednesday announced hiking the <keyword id="20069652" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugarcane" source="keywords">sugarcane</keyword> <keyword id="20544473" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="frp" source="keywords">FRP</keyword> by Rs 25 to Rs 340 per quintal for the 2024-25 season starting October. Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) is the minimum price that mills have to pay to sugarcane growers. The decision to increase the FRP of sugarcane was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword>. The Rs 25 per quintal hike is the highest by the Modi government and the move comes ahead of the general elections. Sugarcane is grown mainly in Maharashtra, <keyword id="19894922" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="keywords">Uttar Pradesh</keyword>, and Karnataka. "Keeping in view interest of sugarcane farmers (GannaKisan), the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for sugar season 2024-25 (October - September) at Rs 340 per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10.25 per cent," I&amp;B Minister <keyword id="19895497" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anurag-thakur" source="keywords">Anurag Thakur</keyword> said at a media briefing. The FRP has been determined on the basis of recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and after consultation with state governments and other stakeholders.

Sachin Tendulkar, Anurag Thakur laud Indian women's hockey team for Asian Champions Trophy win

The Union <keyword id="6355513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cabinet" source="Orion">Cabinet</keyword> on Wednesday approved a four per cent increase in <keyword id="6429991" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dearness-allowance" source="Orion">Dearness Allowance</keyword> (DA) for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners. Briefing reporters about the decisions of the union cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister <keyword id="6364468" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anurag-thakur" source="Orion">Anurag Thakur</keyword> said the decision will be implemented from July 1 this year. "Dearness Allowance for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners has been increased by 4%. The <keyword id="663200" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="DA-hike" source="Orion">DA hike</keyword> will be implemented from 1, July 2023," he said. The decision will benefit 48.67 lakh Central Government Employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. The minister said the decision has come in the festival season and will benefit both the central government employees and pensioners. Generous bonus for railway employees The Cabinet has also granted approval for a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) that amounts to 78 days wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees. This bonus is for the financial year 2022-23 and will benefit a wide array of railway staff, including Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Points man, Ministerial Staff, and other Group 'C' staff, excluding Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel, read the press release issued by Cabinet. This move comes in recognition of the outstanding performance of the railway employees throughout the financial year 2022-23. The Union Government has sanctioned a PLB totalling Rs 1,968.87 crores, which will be disbursed to approximately 1,107,346 railway employees, read the press release. (This copy will be updated)

But it was not enough to give them a top-three spot. At the end of the first round of attempts, Helander led the field. In the second round of attempts, Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch took the lead with a throw of 84.18 m. However, Neeraj overcame the nerves of a bad start, outdoing Jakub with a monstrous 88.17 m throw to take the lead. Manu's second attempt was a foul. Jena's second throw was a solid 82.82 m and took him to the fifth spot. Neeraj led with a massive 88.17 m after the second round of attempts. The third round of attempts started and Neeraj recorded a throw of 86.32 m, the second-best in the competition so far. He managed to maintain his lead. However, with a massive throw of 87.82 m, Pakistan's Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem jumped to the number two spot. He recorded his season-best throw and less than a meter separated him from the Olympic champion Neeraj. With a third attempt of 83.72 m, Manu was still in fifth. Jena's third attempt was a foul and he remained at seventh spot. Neeraj led with 88.17 at the end of round three of attempts. Jena's fourth attempt was 80.19 m and kept him at the seventh spot at the start of fourth round of attempts. Manu's fourth attempt was a foul, keeping him at the fifth spot. Neeraj recorded the fourth throw of 84.64 m, still in the lead. However, Nadeem was still pretty close to him, throwing 87.15 m in the fourth attempt and having the second-best throw overall from earlier. Neeraj led the field at the end of the fourth round of attempts. Jena's fifth attempt was 84.77 m, taking him to fourth spot, one away from a bronze. Nadeem's fifth throw was a foul, delivering a blow to his hopes of a first spot. Neeraj's fifth throw was 87.73 m and kept him in the lead. However, it was just inches away from Nadeem's second-best throw of 87.82 m from earlier. Manu recorded 83.48 m and Jena recorded 84.77 in their fifth attempts. Jena was fifth while Manu at sixth. Neeraj still led the field. In the final round of attempts, Manu was still at sixth with an 84.14 m throw in the final attempt. Jena committed a foul and stayed at fifth. Nadeem's final throw was 81.86 m and failed to overcome Neeraj's 88.17 m in his final attempt. The bench initially agreed to list the PIL for hearing on February 24 and later decided to hear on Friday after the lawyer pointed out that two other PILs are listed on February 17. Thakur has also sought a direction for investigating the role of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and the State Bank of India (SBI) in investing huge amounts of public money in Adani Enterprises. On Monday, the Centre had agreed to the apex court's proposal to set up a panel of experts to look into strengthening the regulatory mechanisms for the stock market following the recent Adani group shares crash triggered by Hindenburg Research's fraud allegations. The top court seized of two petitions alleging exploitation of innocent investors and "artificial crashing" of the Adani Group's stock value. "Despite the worst of Covid-19 now in the past, NRIs have clearly not forgotten the uncertainties associated with living in a foreign country during a major pandemic. Securing homes in India became, and remains, a priority for Indians everywhere,” said <keyword id="266974" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="prashant-thakur" source="Orion">Prashant Thakur</keyword>, Sr. Director &amp; Head of Research, ANAROCK Group. In fact, 77% of the NRIs are looking to buy bigger homes, while 23% want 4 BHK homes and 54% want to buy 3 BHK properties, according to CII-ANAROCK Consumer Sentiment Survey. The survey got 55,000 responses from NRIs, out of which 7% were currently stationed in the US, Canada, Gulf, Europe, and various Asian countries. Demand for bigger homes has seen a spurt in the post-Covid era. “While schools and offices have reopened, the desire for extra living space remains undiminished. Many of the large IT companies and IT-driven startups now operate on a hybrid work model,” says the report. Notably, more NRIs prefer investing in Indian real estate over stocks, mutual funds, gold, and fixed deposits. Another reason why NRIs prefer bigger homes is the favourable exchange rate. The percentage of NRIs looking for 2 BHK properties has declined from 40% in 2019 (pre-Covid) to 22% in 2022 (post-Covid). "As per <keyword id="7746659" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anarock-research" source="Orion">ANAROCK Research</keyword>, the Jan-Sep period of 2022 saw approx. 2.73 lakh homes sold in the top 7 cities," said Thakur. The real estate market has overall witnessed a gradual recovery after successive Covid-19 lockdowns. At least 60% of the respondents agreed to be looking for properties in Hyderabad, 20% were eyeing the NCR region and 18% were preferring Bengaluru. Last year, Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai were the top picks for most NRIs. While 63% of the respondents want premium properties priced between ₹90 lakhs to ₹1.5 crore, 59% NRIs preferred luxury properties priced between ₹1.5 - 2.5 crore. Overall investment in the Indian housing by NRIs has ballooned from 55% in the pre-Covid year (2019) to 71% this year. "On an average, NRIs account for 10-15% of homes sold in any given quarter,” Thakur added.
