<ul class="summary-list"><li>US <keyword id="11893878" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="stocks" source="Orion">stocks</keyword> were mixed Thursday as the European Central Bank raised rates to tackle <keyword id="11894140" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="inflation" source="Orion">inflation</keyword>.</li><li>A busy earnings week continued with Tesla profits beating views and lifting the Nasdaq.</li></ul><p>US stocks opened mixed Thursday as strong Tesla earnings sent the Nasdaq higher while <keyword id="11893875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="markets" source="Orion">markets</keyword> processed an interest rate hike in Europe. </p><p>Late Wednesday, Tesla reported second-quarter results that topped forecasts with the EV maker also revealing it <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/elon-musk-tesla-bitcoin-price-sales-twitter-deal-recession-economy-2022-7">converted 75% of its bitcoin holdings to cash</a>. <ul class="summary-list"><li>A musician says he set up a fake Tesla account to show Elon Musk was "thin-skinned."</li><li>Connor Musarra said in a TikTok the Twitter account was suspended after around six hours.</li></ul><p>A musician says he impersonated Elon Musk's EV company, Tesla, to show how "thin-skinned" the billionaire is.</p><p>Connor Musarra told <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/tesla-twitter-impersonator-shares-aim-spoof-amid-blue-tick-horror-show-1759147">Newsweek</a> he created a parody verified Tesla account to highlight the issues with some of Musk's decisions for Twitter.</p><p>The LA-based musician told the outlet: "The goal of my fake Tesla account was to highlight how much of a thin-skinned, incompetent buffoon Elon is, but also I just wanted to make people laugh."</p><p>One of the tweets poked fun at Tesla car's safety, <a href="https://twitter.com/CartDestr/status/1590985968944750592/photo/1">tweeting</a> from the handle @TeslaReal: "our favorite movie is total recall because that's also how car safety regulators refer to our company."</p><p>Musarra told Newsweek that Musk had "introduced a new level of unmanageable insanity" with his new paid verification system.</p><p>He added: "The $8 verification badge immediately introduced a level of misinformation that I don't think anyone has seen before. If your product allows me, a random musician from LA to impersonate a billion-dollar company like Tesla just by spending $8, I would say that product is not well thought out."</p><p>Musarra and representatives for Musk did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.</p><p>Since taking over the platform, Musk has overhauled Twitter's blue tick verification system.</p><p>The billionaire implemented his controversial $8 fee for blue ticks last week. However, the rollout was targeted by <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/twitter-verification-abuse-trolls-parody-george-bush-oj-simpson-confession-2022-11">trolls </a>and fake accounts flooded the platform. Twitter moved to suspend the feature on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/timeline-elon-musks-chaotic-twitter-blue-verification-rollout-2022-11">November 11</a>.</p><p>Twitter wrote in an internal message that it was halting subscriptions "to help address impersonation issues," Platformer's Zoe Schiffer <a href="https://twitter.com/zoeschiffer/status/1591081913166745601?s=46&amp;t=FINQJ6kpnqC8ExvMC1_HXw">reported</a>.  </p><p>Musarra said in a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@connormusarra/video/7164625779987467562?embed_source=120009725%2C120008483%3Bnull%3Bembed_masking&amp;is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;refer=embed&amp;referer_url=www.newsweek.com%2Ftesla-twitter-impersonator-shares-aim-spoof-amid-blue-tick-horror-show-1759147&amp;referer_video_id=7164625779987467562">TikTok</a> that his parody Tesla account was active for six or seven hours.</p>

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Convicted murderer and prison escapee Richard Matt, shot dead by a border patrol agent last week, once convinced a fellow inmate to post his bail and hire him as a hitman, the <a href="http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/06/13/nyregion/richard-matt-david-sweat-broken-boys-thieves-killers-and-now-escapees.html?referrer=">New York Times</a> has reported.</p><p>Matt was being held in Erie County Holding Center on forgery-related charges in 1991 when another inmate, David Teslar, offered to bail Matt out of jail and pay him $100,000 to murder Teslar's then-wife and her parents. </p><p>As it turns out, his wife was Desiree Teslar - granddaughter of Warner Bros. founder Harry Warner and heiress to his fortune.</p><p>In 1991, David Teslar was sent to the Buffalo, NY, holding center after Desiree Teslar accused him of embezzling more than $1 million from their joint trust and hiding it in a Swiss bank, according to the <a href="http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/30/richard-matt-was-an-fbi-snitch.html?via=desktop&amp;source=twitter">Daily Beast</a>.</p><p>Matt agreed to be David Teslar's hitman but told Desiree about her husband's plan before ever going through with it.</p><p><span>"When I got out, I notified his wife," Matt said during a 1995 parole hearing, according to the Times. "I said: 'Look, you know, this guy bailed me out of jail. He put a hit on you.'" </span></p><p><span>After the hearing, t<span>he Feds asked Matt to help them bust Teslar for the murder-for-hire scheme, but Teslar's lawyers got him to plead guilty to two charges of conspiracy before any evidence unearthed by Matt could be used against him. Teslar spent five years in prison, married a photographer and moved to Reading, Pennsylvania.</span></span></p><p>"I wasn't planning on killing no one," Matt reportedly told the parole board.</p><p>But it is unlikely that Matt, a career criminal who would go on to kill and dismember his former boss, had any moral qualms about the murder-for-hire plot.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>After he and fellow inmate David Sweat escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in early June, Detective Gabriel DiBernardo <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/08/nyregion/a-killers-latest-escape-alarms-investigators-from-his-past.html?partner=socialflow&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">told The New York Times</a> that "you can never have enough security with him [Matt]" or "turn your back on him" because of his success in eluding police - he had already escaped from jail once in 1986.</p><p>"He is the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/police-officer-says-escaped-murderer-is-the-most-evil-person-hes-ever-met-2015-6">most vicious, evil person</a> I've ever come across in 38 years as a police officer."</p><p><span>Telstar's lawyers believe Matt, a reported<span> master of manipulation, </span>simply used David for his bail money and for leverage in reducing the charges pending against him.  </span></p><p><span><span>"He knows his way around a prison and he can use someone like Mr. Telstar as a vehicle to get out of their charges," Andrew LoTempio, one of David Telstar's co-counsels in his criminal case, told the Daily Beast. "That was our position, that Matt goes after his [David's] papers and then tells everyone that he was offered money in return for killing his wife."</span></span></p><p><span><span><span>"[Richard] Matt set the whole thing up and David [Telstar] bailed him out and then Matt turned on him," a<span>nother Telstar lawyer, Jim Harrington,</span> told The Daily Beast. </span></span></span></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>After nearly three weeks on the run, Matt, 48, was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/escaped-prisoner-shot-2015-6">shot and killed</a> last Friday by a border patrol agent in Malone, New York.
