Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 3 (ANI): The Congress 'hand' has stopped Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) 'car' in Telangana as the grand old party has comfortably reached the majority mark as per the latest trends of the Election Commission of India. The Congress is leading on 61 seats while the BRS on 36 and the BJP leading on 10, as per ECI. Telangana Congress President, Anumula <keyword id="933541" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revanth-reddy" source="Orion">Revanth Reddy</keyword> is leading from the Kamareddy seat leaving CM KCR trailing behind. Revanth Reddy is MP in the Lok Sabha from INC representing Malkajgiri Constituency. Earlier, He was a two-time MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from TDP in 2009 and 2014 and in the Telangana Assembly between 2014 and 2018 representing Kodangal Constituency. He left TDP and joined Congress in 2017. In June 2021, he was appointed as president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee replacing N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. Both Congress candidate Konda Surekha and Naini Rajender Reddy are leading from Warangal East and West seats. Telangana CM KCR is leading from the Gajwel seat. Since the formation of the State in the year 2014, BRS has been holding power with KCR as its chief minister. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) is leading from Sircilla, which is considered one of the most important seats. KTR fought from the same seat in the 2018 elections and won. Payal Shanker from BJP is leading on the Adilabad seat while Dhanpal Suryanarayana leading from Nizamabad (Urban). Jaffar Hussain from AIMIM is leading on the Yakutpura seat. Celebrations were seen outside the Congress office in Hyderabad over the party crossing the halfway mark comfortably. The party cadre chanted "Bye bye KCR". The Telangana election results will be important for the Congress as it heads into the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A win in Karnataka and Telangana would further concrete its presence in the South. The Congress party, which is now in reckoning, was completely written off just six months ago. Several factors could have contributed to the Congress's upturn: Perceived anti-incumbency at the constituency level against BRS MLAs; energy infused by the Karnataka victory in the party leaders and cadres; the BJP's decline following the removal of Bandi Sanjay as the Telangana unit chief; and the perception that the BRS and AIMIM are in cahoots with the BJP. Congress leader <keyword id="41270" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="renuka-chowdhury" source="Orion">Renuka Chowdhury</keyword> said that Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leaders are in touch with the grand old party. On being asked if BRS leaders are in touch with the Congress party, Renuka Chowdhury told "Of course! Today's politics is like that. They are in touch with us. Sometimes they take away ours (MLAs), and sometimes theirs come here." Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar who is in Telangana as an AICC observer on Sunday spoke about the possibility of MLA poaching and said that not even a single MLA or candidate will break. TPCC Vice President Kiran Kumar Chamala also spoke on the MLA poaching issue in Telangana and said that the party's MLAs will not be provoked. "It's not the trend what we see this morning, these are the waves and positive vibrations in Telangana. The 6 guarantees that <keyword id="689" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sonia-gandhi" source="Orion">Sonia Gandhi</keyword> has promised to the people of Telangana have turned the tide towards us. Our President Revanth Reddy is also leading. Everything is under control and our MLAs will not be provoked," the TPCC Vice President said. The fate of 2,290 candidates from 109 parties including the national and regional parties will be revealed as the counting proceeds. The contestants include 221 women and one transgender. A total of 103 legislators are re-contesting this time, most of them from the ruling BRS. A clear picture of the result is likely to emerge by noon. Telangana went to vote on November 30. In 2018, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats and had a 47.4 per cent vote share. The Congress came a distant second with 19 seats. (ANI)

Congress 'hand' stops BRS 'car' in Telangana, Revanth Reddy leads in Kamareddy seat as KCR trails

HYDERABAD: With the passage of Telangana Bill by the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword>, the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> party has saved itself from certain extinction in <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>. Assuming that <keyword id="250148" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Bill">the Bill</keyword> will pass muster in the Rajya Sabha and will receive the <keyword id="2540" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="President">President</keyword>'s assent, in the next Lok Sabha elections, the Congress along with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is likely to bag the lion's share of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the region. However, in residuary Andhra Pradesh, the Congress cannot be expected to get a single seat from the 25 Lok Sabha berths. This is compared to its 33 Lok Sabha seats it won in the 2009 elections and 29 in the 2004 elections. 
 
But the party will not be expected to become defunct in residuary Andhra Pradesh: there will be a realignment of the caste composition of the party base. Presently controlled by the Reddys with the Kapus and the dalits as junior partners, the party is now expected to be taken over by the Kapus. The process of regeneration will however take a few years. The Reddys and dalits will gradually make a beeline for the YSR Congress party. However, some Kapus will be enticed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In the immediate future, the YSR Congress and the TDP will slug it out in the Seemandhra region. 
 For the Congress, it will be a matter of great relief if the TRS agrees to merge with the grand old party, but the bosses of the <keyword id="391868" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Telangana-party">Telangana party</keyword> have not yet agreed to this. In the forthcoming elections, the two are expected to have an electoral agreement. 
 
The Telangana Bill could have never been passed in the Lok Sabha without the support of the BJP. The saffron party has had Telangana on its agenda for the past 40 years - even when the party was still the Jana Sangh. In the past few months, the BJP however had second thoughts about the move to support Telangana. This was under the influence of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu and lobbying by business barons of Seemandhra region with Narendra Modi. But the RSS helped the BJP make up its mind. The diktat from Nagpur was clear: Support Telangana. This is our old agenda and there is a great scope for BJP to grow in Telangana. This is much more than what can be achieved in Seemandhra. 
 
The BJP is now likely to harp on the fact that it is only with their help that the Telangana Bill was passed. So, it is them who should get the credit for the creation of the new state. Political analysts, however, aver that the benefit of this may not accrue to the saffron party immediately. But in a few years, the BJP will be a formidable force in the region. It may not be so in the Seemandhra region, but the BJP feels that the TDP may have no other option but to support them at the national level. However, the latest information suggests that the TDP may be in favour of a third front in New Delhi and not the BJP. 
 
At a deeper level, politics will be transformed in the two regions by broad basing democracy. A close examination of the bio-data of MPs from Andhra Pradesh reveals that a large number of them are contractors and businessmen. Many of them have used their position to further their business interests and land up contracts. In fact, it is this lobby that has been in the forefront of the move to scuttle Telangana averring that the creation of the new state will scuttle their power. Now, these contractor businessmen - like Lagadapati Rajagopal- are expected to get out of business (politics). This will also mean that less money will be spend in elections - Andhra Pradesh being a state where the maximum amount of money is spent for polls.

Telangana Bill Saves Congress From Extinction In Andhra Pradesh

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister <keyword id="144341" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="shivakumar" source="Orion">Shivakumar</keyword> stated on Sunday that the result in Telangana is not the victory of the Congress party, but it is the victory of the people of Telangana. Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Shivakumar stated, the voters of Telangana wanted a change. Leaders from various states have worked in Telangana to help the Congress MLAs win elections. The people of Telangana have given victory for the creation of the state. In his reaction, the BJP Karnataka President BY Vijayendra stated that a wave in favour of the saffron party has swept the country. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he said, "People want PM Modi to become Prime Minister again. The BJP will get majority in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. People want national security. They are turning a blind eye to the guarantee schemes, which will finish off the country and are devised to grab power." Former Chief Minister <keyword id="4560352" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bs-yediyurappa" source="Orion">BS Yediyurappa</keyword> in Bengaluru said that the BJP is all set to return to power in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh, the BJP is leading. This result will relegate the Congress party to the corner.

Voters of Telangana wanted a change, says Karnataka Dy CM Shivakumar

<keyword id="161914" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="godrej-agrovet" source="Orion">Godrej Agrovet</keyword> was allotted about 47,000 acres of land in Sangareddy district in Telangana for oil palm plantation, the company said in a release on Tuesday. Allocated by Telangana's Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (Horticulture and Sericulture), the allotted area will be utilized by the company to expand the cultivation of oil palm and set up processing units. Recently, Godrej Agrovet inaugurated an edible oil refinery at Chintalapudi in the Eluru district "We are delighted to receive additional district in the fresh allotment released by the Government of Telangana. It is a testimony of GAVL's commitment and efforts to boost oil palm plantations and promote farmer prosperity in the region. We would like to thank Government of Telangana for their support and commitment to this initiative which will benefit the farmers," said Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet. The company has an expertise of more than three decades in the oil palm business. The Telangana government has set a target to extend the cultivation of oil palm across 20 lakh acres in the state. A total of ₹1,000 crore is proposed in the Budget for 2023-24 for oil palm cultivation. India is the world's second-largest consumer and number one <keyword id="451493" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vegetable-oil" source="Orion">vegetable oil</keyword> importer, and it meets 60% of its need through imports. A large part of it is palm oil and its derivatives, which are imported from Indonesia and Malaysia. Although oilseed production in India has grown over the years, the production has lagged behind its consumption, resulting in continuous dependence on imports.

Telangana govt allots Godrej Agrovet 47,000 acres for oil palm plantation

The barbed wires at the Assembly, secretariat and the Raj Bhavan, which were common sights for more than three years, were replaced with flags and hoardings all over Hyderabad on the occasion of <keyword id="68884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>’s inception as a new state. 
 
Telangana, India’s 29th state, came into existence after about 60 years of unhappy merger with Andhra Pradesh in 1956. Telangana supporters celebrated the occasion, raising the slogan 'Jai Telangana.’ 
 
About 300 reportedly had lost their lives in the Telangana movement. 
 Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (<keyword id="43749" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword>) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will be sworn in as the chief minister of Telangana today. TRS had won 63 of the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. 
 
Before Rao takes oath as the chief minister of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, who has been given additional charge of Telangana, will himself have to take the oath. 
 
31 IPS and 41 IAS officers have been nominated to the Telangana cadre. Chief Secretary PK Mohanty reviewed all arrangements regarding creation of the new state. 
 
The chief secretary also issued orders to 9,893 state government employees to continue working in Telangana as per the 'order to serve' clause to maintain administration in Telangana.

Telangana Is born As India’s 29th State

NEW DELHI: <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> and <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> are engaged in intense negotiations to hammer out an understanding over the creation of <keyword id="68884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>. 
 BJP has assured the government that it would not waver from its commitment to the creation of Telangana but is insisting on a specific pledge of financial support for Seemandhra region as the condition for supporting the <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> Reorganization Bill, expected to be introduced in Parliament on Wednesday. The Union home ministry on Sunday sent a recommendation to President Pranab Mukherjee for introduction of the Telangana bill in Parliament. 
 
Sources said BJP is demanding a commitment for extending financial assistance worth Rs 17,000 odd crore to Seemandhra region through the Consolidated Fund of India to meet the revenue gap it will be saddled with, based on projections for the previous and current fiscal years, because of the transfer of resource-rich Hyderabad to Telangana as the capital of the proposed state. 
 
The party also wants the government to ask the Finance Commission to find ways of helping Seemandhra region with adequate funds on a long-term basis as a compensation for Hyderabad which generated Rs 24,000 crore in revenue. 
 
It also wants specific commitments in the coming fiscal year for projects that the two sides feel should be created in Seemandhra region for its development. 
 Congress sources confirmed that there have been several rounds of talks between party representatives including Union ministers from Andhra Pradesh and BJP <keyword id="19496" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="leader">leader</keyword> and former party president M Venkaiah Naidu. 
 
When contacted, Naidu confirmed that he had been talking to Congress representatives and that he had made it plain that BJP will support the AP Reorganization Bill if the government commits itself to take measures for the development of Seemandhra region. 
 
"BJP in principle favours the creation of Telangana. That has been our consistent stand. But at the same time, we want to ensure that the interests of Seemandhra region are also safeguarded. There is no conflict of interest between the people of the two regions. They are all Indians and they are all Telugus,” Naidu said. 
 
He claimed that while the Centre and the Congress agreed about the need to take special steps in Seemandhra region, they were reluctant to back up their statements of intent with commitments of financial support. "They are not ready to make a commitment for the provision of assistance to Seemandhra through the Consolidated Fund of India to help it bridge the revenue gap. They want to leave the matter to the Finance Commission which is not acceptable to us,” Naidu said. 
 
Naidu also demanded commitment of support for projects the two sides have agreed on like upgrade of existing airports at Vizag, Vijaywada and Tirupati to international standards, creation of an industrial corridor between Vizag and Chennai along the lines of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and setting up of branches of central institutions located in Hyderabad such as DRDO, IIM and others. 
 
"I told them empty gestures of hand will not do. Put money on the table,” the BJP leader said. 
 Both sides said that while sticking points remained, they were in agreement on provisions of <keyword id="250148" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Bill">the bill</keyword> such as declaring Rayalaseema region as backward and providing special incentives including tax holidays and exemption from central exercise for industry, creation of reservoirs in Seemandhra as part of the Polavaram project on Godavari, swift completion of six irrigation projects -- four in Rayalaseema and two in Telangana -- linked to Krishna river and a provision in the bill that education and employment opportunities in Hyderabad will remain open to people from both regions until Seemandhra gets its own capital. 
 
Naidu has also demanded creation of power plants of 4,000 mega watts capacity in the Telangana region. 
 
On the inclusion of Anantapur and Kurnool districts from Rayalaseema in Telangana, BJP is learnt to have said that it can be considered if the two regions agree.

YS Sharmila on her visit to Idupulapaya yesterday, announced her readiness to join the Congress party and said that she will soon be meeting the BJP top brass in New Delhi. The significant move by the YSRTP chief comes days after the Congress party won the Telangana assembly elections. During the recent assembly elections in Telangana, YS Sharmila constantly rendered her support to the Congress party. She clarified that she did not contest the polls as it would have led to spilling of votes. "I am extending support to the Congress party because the Congress party stands the chance of winning in the Telangana Assembly elections... KCR has not fulfilled any of the promises he made to the people in his 9-year tenure. And that's the only reason I do not want KCR to come to power... I, as the YSR's daughter risk Congress' chance, because I tend to pull the Congress vote bank," she said in a statement made ahead of the Telangana assembly elections. Highlighting the significance of the support, she stated that the Congress party's victory in 31 seats in Telangana was largely due to their abstention from contesting. "In more than 55 constituencies I am going to affect the Congress vote bank and in more than 20 constituencies, I am going to help Congress lose in case I contest," she said. YS Sharmila could be given a key post in the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Sharmila is also expected to play a role in the elections of Andhra Pradesh which will also be held next year. Congress won an absolute majority in Telangana for the first time, winning 64 of 119 seats.
