After the closed borders of the pandemic kept us apart for 7 months, I moved to France to be with him. Our story was long and winding, but it felt like destiny. According to the report, 81 per cent of Indian organisations have already implemented GenAI, making India the leader in adopting generative artificial intelligence technologies. The study also predicted promising investment trends in near future, with about 94 per cent of respondents anticipating increased investments and budget allocations towards GenAI initiatives in the next 2-3 years. However, almost all of the respondents expressed concerns about processing and using their data. "As many as 99 per cent of respondents expressed concerns about processing and using their data, highlighting the need for organisations to work with GenAI providers who can help safeguard sensitive information. The report further observed that 73 per cent of respondents in India were confident that conversational data search capabilities would significantly enhance operational efficiency. India leads in GenAI adoption, investment trends likely to rise in coming years: Report

Chandrachud commenced his address by lauding the conference's revolutionary focus on technology and its potential to catalyse crucial dialogues at the crossroads of technology and the judiciary. The e-Courts project, for instance, aims to computerise court processes, digitise case records, and establish online case management systems across all levels of the judiciary. "Additionally, the Supreme Court of India introduced live transcription services, an initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility to legal information. This initiative has been particularly impactful in addressing linguistic diversity, as live transcription services translate judicial proceedings into 18 regional languages and Hindi, ensuring that legal information is accessible to citizens across India using AI termed as the Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software. This not only saves time and resources but also improves access to justice by reducing delays and backlogs in the court system," he said, "In 2023, Justice Juan Manuel Padilla, a Colombian judge, utilised the ChatGPT to deliver a judgment in a case involving insurance claims for an autistic child," Chandrachud elaborated, underscoring the complementary role of AI in augmenting judicial reasoning rather than supplanting it. Similarly, he recounted how the Punjab and Haryana High Court in India sought insights from ChatGPT in a bail petition. However, Chandrachud cautioned against overlooking the ethical, legal, and practical considerations associated with <keyword id="20230984" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AI-integration" source="keywords">AI integration</keyword> into court proceedings. "These instances show that we cannot avoid the question of using AI in court adjudication. The integration of AI in modern processes including court proceedings raises complex ethical, legal, and practical considerations that demand a thorough examination. The use of AI in court adjudication presents both opportunities and challenges that warrant nuanced deliberation," he asserted. He noted the importance of transparency, accountability, and fairness in AI utilisation, highlighting concerns about potential errors and biases inherent in AI systems. "The full realisation of AI's potential hinges on global collaboration and cooperation," Chandrachud said, urging stakeholders to prioritise robust auditing mechanisms and capacity building. In his concluding remarks, the CJI noted that the advancement of technology and AI is inevitable. This potential gathering, set against the backdrop of Trump’s bid for a return to the White House, highlights how global leaders are positioning themselves in anticipation of possible changes in US leadership. “He happens to be coming to meet me next week, and Modi, he’s fantastic,” Trump said on Tuesday during a town hall event in Flint, Michigan, while discussing free trade and US job protection. He even went on to call India a “very big abuser” in trade, Al Jazeera reported. Most likely, Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting up with Trump could be an acknowledgment of the latter's potential return to power in the November election, as foreign leaders carefully navigate diplomatic relations with key US political figures. However, neither the Trump campaign nor India’s Ministry of External Affairs have clearly commented on the matter yet, meaning that the Indian leader’s plans of a tête-à-tête with ex US President Trump are foggy at best.
