At least 22 edtech startups have slashed 9,781 jobs to date. In the first five months into 2023, more than 8,000 employees lost their jobs in India by nearly 50 startups. Homegrown virtual events platform Airmeet sacked about 30 per cent of its workforce, or at least 75 employees, according to the report. Corporate expense management platform Happay, owned by credit Card bill payment provider CRED, slashed nearly 35 per cent of its workforce as part of a restructuring exercise. About 27K employees lost jobs at Indian startups to date, over 8K this year

In a bid to further expand its footprint in India, <keyword id="10591" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="samsung" source="Orion">Samsung</keyword> on Wednesday announced key organisational changes in the country to generate more synergies among its various businesses. The South Korean major appointed CH Choi as the new division leader for the Consumer Electronics business, while Jinsock Lee will be the division leader for the Network business. Lee will be based in Mumbai and Jongbum Park will continue to be the division leader for the Mobile business, the company said in a statement. Mohandeep Singh will be the new Head of Sales, Marketing and Operations for the consumer electronics business, while Raju Pullan will be the new Head, Sales and Retail for the Mobile business. Aditya Babbar will lead Product Marketing for the Mobile business. Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, <keyword id="107877" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="samsung-india" source="Orion">Samsung India</keyword>, will be pursuing a different professional path and in that, he will continue to be engaged with Samsung India, according to the company. Industry sources told IANS that Warsi is poised to take up an advisory role in the company. Samsung India shuffles top management to expand footprint in the country

The Q3 revenue grew 58 per cent to $443 million while net loss was $94 million for Q3, the company said in a statement late on Wednesday. Average revenue per user was up 15 per cent to $1.03. "More than ever before, people are coming to Pinterest to get inspiration for their lives -- everything from planning early for a socially distant Halloween to creating great home schools for their kids," said <keyword id="971181" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ben-Silbermann">Ben Silbermann</keyword>, CEO and co-founder, Pinterest. "Our top priority is to continue making Pinterest home to the most inspiring and actionable content." HAMS Group makes brands like Araldite, Araldite Karpenter, and Araseal in India. The acquisition announcement led to a surge in the Indian adhesive giant Pidilite’s shares, which saw an over 4% rally as of 10.40 am. <div type="image" title="pidilite." msid="78925501" hostid="261"></div> What does Pidilite gain? With the acquisition, Pidilite will also get a trademark license to sell Araldite in the Middle East, Africa, and ASEAN countries. The company said that Huntsman would receive as much as 90% of the cash consideration while the balance 10% will be under an earnout within 18 months if the business achieves sales revenue in-line with 2019. In 2019, the company had posted a revenue of ₹400 crore. “With this acquisition, Araldite will add to the already very strong portfolio of Pidilite’s adhesive and sealant brands and will complement our retail portfolio. We are confident that this acquisition will create significant shareholder value through strong revenue and cost synergies,” said Bharat Puri, Managing Director, Pidilite Industries in a statement. While Pidilite is yet to announce its second-quarter results, for the first three months of the current financial year, Pidilite had posted a profit of ₹15.82 crore, a massive fall from its profits of ₹294.39 crore in Q1FY20. Its revenue was also down by 56% year-on-year to ₹897.4 crore.
