A dangerous Android banking malware that steals victim's credentials and SMS messages has been downloaded thousands of times via <keyword id="6369511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-play-store" source="Orion">Google Play Store</keyword>, researchers have warned.<br /><br />Called '<keyword id="13305683" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="teabot" source="Orion">TeaBot</keyword>,' it is an Android banking trojan that first emerged at the beginning of 2021 designed for stealing victim's text messages.<br /><br />Initially, TeaBot has been distributed through smishing campaigns using a predefined list of lures, such as <keyword id="13305684" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TeaTV" source="Orion">TeaTV</keyword>, VLC Media Player, DHL and UPS and others, according to online fraud management and prevention solution provider Cleafy.<br /><br />"In the last months, we detected a major increase of targets which now count more than 400 applications, including banks, crypto exchanges/wallets and digital insurance, and new countries such as Russia, Hong Kong, and the US," the researchers informed.<br /><br />During the last months, TeaBot has also started supporting new languages, such as Russian, Slovak and Mandarin Chinese, useful for displaying custom messages during the installation phases.<br /><br />On February 21, the Cleafy Threat Intelligence and Incident Response (TIR) team discovered an application published on the official Google Play Store, which was acting as a dropper application delivering TeaBot with a fake update procedure.<br /><br />"The dropper lies behind a common QR Code &amp; Barcode Scanner and it has been downloaded more than 10,000 times. Or has it?</p><p>The tech-centric city has seen an automized restaurant scene in recent years. <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jun/25/robot-chefs-cooking-san-francisco-food">The idea is that robots</a> could be used to fill repetition-heavy positions that require hours of nonstop work - like line cooking - that could then free up human employees to provide higher quality customer service. Labor costs and, subsequently, menu prices would be lowered, tipping would become obsolete, restaurants could more heavily invest in higher quality ingredients, and profits would increase for business owners in the process - or at least that's the theory.</p><p>It's a trend seen across the country and the world, but San Francisco specifically has been the ideal market for robot and semi-robot restaurant testing <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2019/04/06/robots-invade-foodie-san-francisco-promising-low-prices-cheap-labor/3334069002/">for a number of reasons.</a></p><p>The city's millennial workforce is busy, which makes a quick automated culinary experience appealing. A harshly visible wealth divide, low wages, and a housing crunch also spell a labor shortage in the 7x7 city, a shortage that could be addressed by placing robots into these roles. And on top of that, venture funding-seeking startups here have long used the streets of San Francisco as an experimental playground, with the city's occupants as their guinea pigs for testing out what could be promising technology - so much so that it's grown into a bit of an issue, with the city considering launching an <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/san-francisco-office-emerging-technology-robots-scooters-2019-11">office specifically designed to regulate emerging tech </a>before companies can throw it into public spaces.</p><p class="source"><span>Katie Canales/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The robotic barista at CafeX prepares a coffee order for a customer.</p><p>At San Francisco's Eatsa automat, you could quickly order and then pick up your $7 quinoa bowls - prepared behind the scenes by unseen employees - through futuristic pickup windows lined against the wall of the restaurant, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/eatsa-review-2016-6">as Business Insider's Melia Russell reported.</a> At a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cafe-x-robotic-coffee-bar-automation-2018-6">Peter Thiel-backed CafeX coffee bar</a>, a jolly-looking robotic arm is the barista building and serving you your coffee order. And at Creator, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/robot-made-burger-restaurant-creator-review-2018-7#around-the-corner-from-the-dining-area-is-the-inhuman-star-chef-3">the Google parent company-backed burger joint of the future</a>, a robot builds your $6 burger from start to finish in five minutes.</p><p>Other Bay Area-based automated restaurants like pizza-making and delivery startup <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/zume-pizza-robot-expansion-2017-6">Zume</a>, TeaBOT, the ramen vending machine <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/ramen-vending-machine-san-francisco-metreon-sf-12717428.php">Yo-Kai Express</a>, the Blendid company <a href="https://www.sfchronicle.com/food/article/Meet-San-Francisco-s-new-giant-13710040.php#photo-17111080">whose robot will fix you a $6 smoothie</a>, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sally-the-salad-robot-chowbotics-2017-4">Chowbotics' salad-prepping Sally robot</a> round out the region's autonomous eatery arena.</p><p>Visiting one can feel like stepping into a sci-fi flick - being handed a cup of coffee by a robot is a bit of a novelty.</p><p>But innovation aside, there are concerns that automation <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-future-of-the-machine-worker-is-here-2016-3">may result in mass unemployment</a> as robots are deployed to fill jobs that humans could occupy. There's also the longstanding question of whether or not people actually desire human interaction when they're being served. And even with those questions aside, it turns out that some of these restaurants aren't surviving.</p><p>In July 2019, Eatsa shuttered its San Francisco locations after the company was found to be thousands behind in unpaid rent. It's since <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/starbucks-announces-deal-tech-startup-brightloom-formerly-eatsa-2019-7">pivoted to restaurant tech and software</a> and rebranded itself as Brightloom, with a new deal with Starbucks announced in 2017. Just this week, <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/coffee-robot-baristas-3-locations-Cafe-X-close-14959241.php">CafeX closed its San Francisco locations</a>, though its stations at San Francisco International Airport and San Jose Airport are still open. And Zume, the Softbank-backed startup known for its pizza-making robots, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/zume-cmo-mark-crumpacker-executive-departures-softbank-startup-2019-11">shuttered its pizza business and pivoted into food-truck tech and services in November 2019.</a> Then, in January 2020, the company laid off 400 employees to further cut costs, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/zume-pizza-robots-layoffs-leadership-turmoil-alex-garden-softbank-2020-1">as reported by Business Insider's Megan Hernbroth</a>. </p><p class="source"><span>Katie Canales/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">A human employee at Creator.</p><p>One of the robot-run restaurants that seems to be doing alright is Creator, which is still humming along since opening in mid-2018. There are "robot attendants" and humans present in most of these restaurants, but there's more of a human presence in the burger-making robot joint, as <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jun/25/robot-chefs-cooking-san-francisco-food">The Guardian's Vivian Ho</a> pointed out. The robot prepares the Creator burger, but humans take your order and perform other tasks. And as <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/robot-restaurants-barista-pizza-san-francisco-14103302.php#">SF Gate's Alix Martichoux writes</a>, the robot restaurants the author visited and enjoyed the most were the ones that involved real-life people.</p><p>So there could be multiple reasons why some of them have flopped, but perhaps <a href="https://www.fastcompany.com/40541212/this-restaurant-robot-is-designed-to-help-servers-not-replace-them">a straightforward explanation</a> is that <a href="https://www.grubstreet.com/2017/10/humans-werent-ready-for-eatsas-fully-automated-restaurants.html">we're simply not ready</a> to be served by robots in lieu of humans.</p><p>Here's what it's like eating at San Francisco's robot restaurants, some of which have since failed.</p>

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>AP</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Whole Foods has revealed new details about the chain of cheaper stores it's opening to better compete with rivals like Trader Joe's.</p><p>The first of the new stores, called 365 by Whole Foods Market, will open its doors on May 25 in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles.</p><p>The store will feature a number of prepared food bars and beverage stations operated by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/whole-foods-tattoo-parlors-2016-2">different vendors</a>, as well as a 1,235-square-foot vegan fast-casual restaurant called By Chloe, the company said Thursday.</p><p>The restaurant will serve plant-based burgers, salads, pastas, desserts, and other items. Customers will have the option of dining in or taking the food to go.</p><p>The store will also have a craft brew bar operated by Allegro Coffee Company with a selection of coffee, beer, and food.</p><p>For tea lovers, there will be a self-serve kiosk from Toronto-based startup teaBOT that allows customers to customize <span>tea by mixing up to three of 18 different teas and herbal ingredients.</span></p><p><span>The store will give customers the option to order their groceries online and get them delivered through Instacart.</span></p><p><span><span><span>One of the driving principles behind the new 365 chain is curation, according to <span>Jeff Turnas, president of 365 by Whole Foods Market.</span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Business Insider/Hayley Peterson</span></p><p class="caption">Whole Foods.</p></div><p></p></div></div></span></span></span></span><span><span>"With each store, we're looking to curate an experience that's totally customized to that location," Turnas said in a statement. "Allegro's craft brew bar will provide a casual place for Silver Lake residents to relax before or after they shop, while teaBOT's unique service will offer a quick, yet deeply personalized tea-making experience."</span></span></p><p><span><span>The 365 stores will be significantly smaller than regular Whole Foods locations and focus more on fresh produce and prepared foods than center-aisle packaged goods. That means the store will offer a smaller selection of goods - so for example. there will be five types of ketchup to choose from, rather than a dozen.</span></span></p><p><span><span>Whole Foods has said it's targeting tech-savvy, price-sensitive millennials with the new store design. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Over-the-top architecture, awed tourists, never-before-seen offerings - the future of <keyword id="6354851" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Retail">retail</keyword> has never been so glitzy. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As customers become <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/this-awesome-infographic-shows-how-millennials-spend-their-money-2016-5">increasingly focused on experiences</a>, retailers from Starbucks to Whole Foods are opening&#xa0;awe-inspiring stores to build their brands.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Wednesday, Starbucks announced plans to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/starbucks-reserve-only-princi-partnership-2016-7">offer food from artisan Italian bakery Princi</a> at upscale Roastery and Reserve-only locations. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">CEO Howard Schultz said in a call with reporters:</span></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Our intent with the Roastery was to create a multi-sensory retail experience not only that would elevate coffee, but that was really unlike any retail experience in the world. You can think about Disney, you can think about Apple, you can think about Nike, Zara - the great retailers of the world, and I think people would agree who come to see the Roastery that there's nothing quite like it in the world. The Roastery is a place of innovation and discovery, coffee, romance, and something we're really really proud of." &#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Innovation, discovery, and romance aren't typical buzzwords for talking about a coffee shop - but, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tour-of-starbucks-reserve-roastery-2016-7">the Roastery isn't the typical coffee shop.</a></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 15,000 square-foot location allows customers to see small-batch roasters in action and serves drinks like the $10 Nitro Cold Brew Float. Dubbed&#xa0;the Willy Wonka of coffee by the company, it has become a Seattle tourist destination.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While there is currently only one Starbucks Roastery, the company considers the store to represent the future of the chain as it develops its premium coffee business. Two Roasteries are set to open in New York City and Shanghai, with plans to open more in key cities around the world, as well as Roastery-influenced Reserve-only stores. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Opening a handful of these upscale locations creates a halo effect for the brand, Schultz says. The average Starbucks doesn't have to change entirely. Customers just need to be aware of the more upscale locations, with local stores borrowing certain aspects of the premium experience that best fit the local market.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div>    </div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"The</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#xa0;entire shopping experience literally needs to be an experience, not a commodity," Jason Dorsey, co-Founder and millennials expert at </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="http://genhq.com/">The Center for Generational Kinetics,</a>&#xa0;</span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/macys-trying-to-survive-in-the-experience-econmy-2016-7"><span style="font-weight: 400;">recently told Business Insider. </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">"For retailers integrating things like live music, exclusive events, digital gaming, and the unexpected-such as an impromptu fashion show-is what transforms retail shopping into an experience."</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While some retailers and restaurant chains are attempting to elevate this&#xa0;experience across locations, many have realized a few truly draw-dropping stores&#xa0;can impact the entire brand. A recent headline from Gothamist went as far as to ask, of an upcoming Whole Foods location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that will feature an eight-vendor food hall, </span><a href="http://gothamist.com/2016/07/14/whole_foods_williamsburg.php"><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Is Williamsburg's Whole Foods A Grocery Store Or A Restaurant?"</span></a></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div>    </div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Urban Outfitters is similarly testing out the restaurant business at select, premium locations. Space Ninety 8, an Urban Outfitters concept store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, houses a restaurant called</span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/we-tested-urban-outfitters-brooklyn-restaurant-2015-11"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the Gorbals.</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> In November 2015, the retailer purchased </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/urban-outfitters-is-getting-into-pizza-business-2015-11"><span style="font-weight: 400;">several restaurants from the Philadelphia-based Vetri Family</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, including the fast-casual chain Pizzeria Vetri.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Brands that typically don't have their own retail stores are also trying&#xa0;to cash&#xa0;in on more experience-centric locations.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In June, Kellogg's opened its first ever cereal café in the heart of New York City. The trendy location </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">is filled with unexpected items such as Rice Krispies with green tea powder and ice cream topped with Cracklin' Oat Bran, dried cranberries, white chocolate, and toasted coconut, with a bowl of cereal costing more than $7.50.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The café is intended to help reignite customer interest in cereal,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/soda-juice-and-cereal-consumption-down-2015-12"> a former American staple that's suffered from falling sales in recent years</a> as new, flashier options have entered the breakfast industry.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These more premium locations represent the idealized future of the brands: young, hip, relevant. However, when&#xa0;these flagship locations aren't up to snuff, it can be seriously bad news for the retailer.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Business Insider's Mallory Schlossberg argues that the disarray of Macy's flagship location in New York City - a major tourist stop - represents major problems within the company. Macy's has reported five straight quarters of falling sales, </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/macys-tour-and-business-analysis-2016-5"><span style="font-weight: 400;">with sales most recently dropping 7.4%</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. &#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Howard Schultz said on Wednesday that "the success of the Roastery in Seattle has really opened up the aperture of our enthusiasm and our strategic push to elevate at almost every level the premiumization of the Starbucks customer experience." </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The key phrase: customer experience. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It is no longer enough for a retailer or restaurant to offer food or apparel. The chains need to offer an engaging experience for customers that they can't find elsewhere.
