"Those are very powerful things."Teo said that people working in teaching, translation, or customer support are more likely to use AI to make their roles easier, rather than be supplanted by technology."A good customer service agent exudes empathy and understanding, something that a machine cannot do," he added.Ben Leong, a computer science professor at the National University of Singapore, said it's too early to draw conclusions from just a demo. He said he foresees interpreters' businesses being majorly disrupted."AI is really good for well-defined problems. Translation is a very well-defined problem," he said.But it's going to be much more difficult for ChatGPT to take over customer support, teaching, or negotiation, Leong said."If someone negotiates a bad deal for you, who is responsible? Are you liable? Can AI be your legal representative?" he said.Simon Lucey, the director of the University of Adelaide's Australian Institute for Machine Learning, said ChatGPT still makes errors when multiplying numbers of three digits or more, even in its later versions."So at the moment, it's a helper. At the end of the day, if you want to get something meaningful or do something reliably, you still need to get a human to cast desire over what it's producing," Lucey said.Some people may lose their jobs in the next few years, Lucey said, but he added that they have reason to stay optimistic."In the 1980s, when Microsoft released Excel, people were petrified and said it would put all of these accountants out of a job. We've got more accountants now than in the 1980s," he said.Teo agreed. "Many roles will be replaced by AI, but that doesn't mean jobs. Our jobs are bundles of roles," he said.

Vembu recently tweeted from his account, mentioning the economic consequences AI can bring. "I won't focus on the technology itself but on the economic consequences. First of all, if AI was to eliminate all jobs, it means AI is able to produce all the goods and services we need without human labour," he posted. "Where will the jobs come from? In a world where AI made goods and services free, the better question is 'what will humans do?," he noted during a press interaction here. Referring to a global initiative taken by tech billionaire Elon Musk and other top entrepreneurs and researchers against stopping AI experiments for at least six months, the Zoho CEO said he and two other industry leaders had also written an open letter to the central government, calling for an AI policy in the country. AI a serious threat to several programming jobs, says Zoho's Sridhar Vembu

In February, Iger had announced to lay off 7,000 employees as Disney looks to save billions of dollars by restructuring the company, cutting content, and trimming payroll. "For our employees who aren't impacted, I want to acknowledge that there will no doubt be challenges ahead as we continue building the structures and functions that will enable us to be successful moving forward. Disney's first job cut round begins this week, 7,000 employees to be hit: CEO

The company estimated that the move will incur aggregate charges of approximately $15 million, consisting primarily of $8.8 million in severance payments and employee benefits costs and $6.5 million in other costs primarily related to outplacement services and WARN Act exposure. "The company expects to recognise the majority of these charges in the first quarter of 2023. It expects that the reduction in force will be substantially complete by April 3, 2023," the filing read. The provisional figures of <keyword id="128666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="direct-tax-collections">direct tax collections</keyword> for the <keyword id="44623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Financial-Year">financial year</keyword> 2020-21 showed that net collections are at ₹9.45 lakh crore. The net collection is around 5 per cent higher than the revised estimates for the 2020-21. The net direct tax collections include <keyword id="483910" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="corporation-tax">corporation tax</keyword> (CIT) at ₹4.57 lakh crore and personal income tax (PIT), including security transaction tax (STT) at ₹4.88 lakh crore. "The net direct tax collections represent 104.46% of the Revised Estimates of ₹9.05 lakh crore of direct taxes for the FY 2020-21," said a <keyword id="47209" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Finance-Ministry">Finance Ministry</keyword> statement. The gross collection of direct taxes, before adjusting for refunds, for the FY21 stands at ₹12.06 lakh crore, including corporation tax of ₹6.31 lakh crore and personal income tax (including STT) of ₹5.75 lakh crore. It also includes <keyword id="48166" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Advance-tax">advance tax</keyword> of ₹4.95 lakh crore, tax deducted at source (including Central TDS) of ₹5.45 lakh crore, self-assessment tax of ₹1.07 lakh crore, regular assessment tax of ₹42,372 crore, dividend distribution tax of ₹13,237 crore and tax under other minor heads of ₹2,612 crore. The official statement noted that despite an extremely challenging year, the advance tax collections for FY21 stand at ₹4.95 lakh crore which shows a growth of approximately 6.7 per cent over the advance tax collections of the immediately preceding fiscal of ₹4.64 lakh crore. Further, refunds amounting to ₹2.61 lakh crore have been issued in the FY21 as against refunds of ₹1.83 lakh crore issued in the FY20, marking an increase of around 42 per cent over the previous financial year. India collected ₹9.45 lakh crore in taxes last year — exceeding the government's expectations

New Delhi, Nov 20 () An Indian cyber security agency has warned WhatsApp users against a "vulnerability" that can attack this popular social media messaging app and compromise individual system without seeking permissions.
The Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) has issued an advisory in this context calling the severity of the threat, being spread by an MP4 file, as "high."
The advisory comes in the backdrop of recent developments where WhatsApp had informed the Indian government in September that over hundred Indian users were targeted by the Israeli spyware Pegasus. 
"A vulnerability has been reported in WhatsApp which could be exploited by a
remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system," the latest advisory said.
The CERT-In is the nodal agency to combat hacking, phishing and to fortify security-related defences of the Indian internet domain.
The agency's advisory suggested "upgrading" to the latest version of WhatsApp to combat or tide over the problem.
Describing the malicious action of the vulnerability in the popular social messaging app (application), it said, "A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in WhatsApp due to improper parsing of elementary stream metadata of an MP4 file. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted MP4 file to the target system." 
It added that this could trigger a buffer overflow condition leading to execution of arbitrary code by the attacker. 
"The exploitation does not require any form of authentication from the victim end and executes on downloading of malicious crafted mp4 file on victim's system," it said.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability, it said, could allow the remote attacker to cause remote code execution (RCE) or denial of service (DoS) condition, which could lead to further compromise of the system.
It stated half-a-dozen WhatsApp software have been "affected" by the current vulnerability.
They have been identified as WhatsApp for Android prior to 2.19.274, WhatsApp for iOS prior to 2.19.100, WhatsApp Enterprise Client prior to 2.25.3, WhatsApp for Windows Phone prior to 2.18.368, WhatsApp Business for Android prior to 2.19.104 and WhatsApp Business for iOS prior to 2.19.100.
