TCS embarks on a multi-year technology transformation cycle Gopinathan explained that currently, in the first phase of the multi-year technology transformation cycle, companies are building a cloud-based foundation. This will become the ‘resilient, secure and scalable’ digital core of their business. In the following phases, the industry will witness the native capabilities of these platforms coming up in new use cases. They will be used to create “innovative new business models and differentiated customer experiences,” he said. The cycle is driven by the desire to accelerate availing the business value of investments that clients have made in technology, according to TCS COO NG Subramanam. The company’s role is to help clients open up more micro services and ecosystems to building partnerships, not just internally within the organisation, but also with other companies. Subramaniam further highlighted that the multi-year cycle involved investments in multiple areas — whether it's the way of working, secure borderless work spaces (SBWS), the 25/25 vision and other measures — all of which are coming into play one way or another. “In the last six months, the resilience of cloud collaboration and digital has been proven beyond doubt,” he said. In the second quarter, TCS raked in $8.6 billion worth of new deals — including the deal with Phoenix Systems for $2.5 billion — with its revenue jumping 4.8% over the previous quarter and revenue up by 6.7% sequentially.

TCS' value crosses ₹10 trillion after share price rallies more than 7% ahead of earnings

The last time was in July 2013. </li><li>Over the last three months, TCS' value has dipped by ₹2 lakh crore ($27 billion). </li></ul>The stock of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hit a seven-year low as markets opened to a massive crash today morning. The company's share price dipped to ₹1506 as a massive global selloff affected Indian stock markets too. TCS' value has gone down from ₹8.3 lakh crore in December to ₹6.3 lakh crore in the last three months — a dip of 24.3% resulting in market cap loss of ₹2 lakh crore ($27 billion).

Even ₹4,500 crore couldn't fight the effects of the coronavirus The massive dip in TCS value comes after the company met on March 11 and declared an interim dividend of ₹12 per share — a total payout of ₹4,503 crore. Going forward, Accenture expects new deals to grow even further. Everybody wants to be on the cloud — but who’s going to put them there? Accenture credits its ramp up of new bookings to the growth of cloud adoption. Going forward, it expects its revenue from cloud services, which accounts for around 30% of its revenue, to grow in double-digits. The company also invested $3 billion to create more assets to accelerate cloud migration. However, it was suggested that Accenture is facing the same issue as the Indian IT services companies — a lack of talent. “The management sounded caution on the supply front, suggesting there is a scarcity of Cloud talent in the market,” noted Motilal Oswal. Picking up new businesses on the cheap Just like Accenture, these four Indian IT services giants have been on the road to pick up businesses on the cheap and bolster their digital services. The global IT giant closed 10 acquisitions this quarter that cost Accenture around $500 million. By September next year, it expects to dole out another $1.2 billion as the trend of consolidation continues. The share price of United Spirits closed 2% higher on Thursday. TCS Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it plans to invest more than $100 million in Austin and hire 1,000 new employees across Texas. Canara Bank Canara Bank said it had approved the issue price at ₹103.50 per share for its qualified institutional placement (QIP) to raise ₹2,000 crore. Earlier this week, the bank had set the floor price for the issue at ₹103.50 apiece. The share price of Canara Bank closed 5% lower on Thursday. Jash Engineering The pump and pumping equipment manufacturing company, Jash Engineering received orders worth ₹20.65 crore in November.  The financial performance of these companies is not going to improve in a hurry. Foreign investors know this, which is why they pulled out the maximum chunk of their money in India from this sector.  Meanwhile, the EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) margins for the top four IT companies have fallen by 350 bps to 21.7% over the last 5 years until the end of September 2019, according to a recent Ambit report. This is despite a 16% fall in the value of rupee, which should ideally boost the margin because these firms make most of their revenue in dollars. The pain is far from over and the margin could fall another 120 basis points by the end of financial year ending March 2022, according to Ambit. The pain for TCS is getting worse Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is likely to end 2019 on a sombre note. The software exporter owned by the Tata Group is likely to clock a revenue growth of less than 1% in constant currency terms between October to December 2019 quarter compared to three months ago, according to Centrum, a Mumbai-based broking house. Banking and retail verticals have decelerated further, the management told analysts at Centrum. The two verticals account for nearly 46% of the technology major's revenue. The slowdown could affect the full-year earnings too— Centrum expects the growth for financial year ending March 2020 to 8.5% before accounting for exchange rate changes. This would be sharply slower than the 11.4% the company clocked in the previous financial year. Infosys may be relatively better off The expected slowdown for TCS is coming at a time when Infosys is looking to reclaim the coveted pole position among India's IT stocks. The company has reportedly stepped up efforts to bag more deals, and bigger ones, with a special focus on government contracts in the Asia-Pacific region. Further, analysts at HDFC Securities recently said that Infosys could make $100 million to $150 million just from cost-saving initiatives. However, these are just efforts for which results are yet to be seen. In the mean time, as business gets tighter for the technology majors, they are looking to reduce cost by hiring more freshers. They are trying to bring costs down by hiring more people straight out of engineering colleges, and reducing the strength higher up in the corporate hierarchy. In the first 6 months of the year, the five tech companies named above hired over 64,000 freshers. TCS alone picked up 26,500 employees, and a large part of it has been at the bottom of the pyramid.
