This recognition is based on an independent survey of 45,000 employees working for American companies with more than 1,000 employees. TCS makes it to Forbes' list of 'America's Best Large Employers'

The Global 2000 ranks the largest companies in the world using four metrics: sales, profits, assets, and market value, Forbes said while releasing the 2023 ranking of the world's top 2,000 companies. JPMorgan, America's biggest bank with USD 3.7 trillion in assets, is at the top of the list for the first time since 2011 and has emerged stronger from this spring's regional banking crisis, with more deposits and opportunistic acquisition of the failed First Republic Bank, it said. <keyword id="6358963" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="warren-buffett" source="Orion">Warren Buffett</keyword>'s Berkshire Hathaway that topped the list last year, fell to the 338th position in the latest list due to unrealised losses in its investment portfolio. Saudi oil behemoth Aramco is at 2nd position followed by three giant-sized state-owned Chinese banks. Technology giants Alphabet and Apple are at 7th and 10th place, respectively. Oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance, with sales of USD 109.43 billion and profit of USD 8.3 billion, is the top most-ranked Indian firm at the 45th spot, climbing from the 53rd position it had held in last year's ranking. Reliance was ranked ahead of well-known names like Germany's BMW Group, Switzerland's Nestle, China's Alibaba Group, US-based Procter &amp; Gamble and Japan's Sony. State Bank of India climbed to 77th spot from 105th in the 2022 ranking. HDFC Bank is at 128th position (153 in 2022) and ICICI Bank is at 163 (204 in 2022). Other Indian firms on the list include state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation at 226 and HDFC (232). Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) made its maiden entry at 363 while <keyword id="6357585" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services" source="Orion">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) slipped to 387th rank from 384 last year. Axis Bank (423), NTPC (433), Larsen &amp; Toubro (449), Bharti Airtel (478), Kotak Mahindra Bank (502), Indian Oil Corporation (540), Infosys (554), Bank of Baroda (586), Coal India (591), Tata Steel (592), Hindalco (660) and Vedanta (687) are other notable Indian firms on the list. In all, 55 Indian firms figured on the list. Three firms of the conglomerate helmed by billionaire Gautam Adani, whose group faced a scathing attack from a US short seller earlier this year that lead to him losing the world's third richest tag, figured in the list. Reliance climbs 8 spots to 45th rank on Forbes' Global 2000 list

On a global front, Indian organisations have been faring well, as compared to the ranks last year. Technology giant Infosys has crawled up to the third rank from 31 in 2018, preceded by global payments giant Visa and carmaker Ferrari. India’s most valuable company TCS has been ranked 22. Addressing the positive growth of the company, Forbes labelled Infosys — which is the second largest software exporter in India — as ‘Asian invasion.’ Other companies in the top 10 include Netflix, PayPal, Microsoft, Walt Disney, Toyota Motor, Mastercard and Costco Wholesale. India, China and Japan cumulatively account for 82 companies in top 250 of the global list. US leads the race with 59 companies. Forbes, jointly with German statistics company Statistica surveyed over 15,000 respondents across 50 countries to assess the world’s largest public companies. Mukesh Ambani is now the fifth richest person in the world, according to Forbes

Three Indian companies, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=hindustan+lever">Hindustan Unilever</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=TCS">Tata Consultancy Services</a> (TCS) and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sun+pharma">Sun Pharma Industries</a> made it to the list of world's 100 most innovative companies by Forbes. 
 
While <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=tesla+motors">Tesla Motors</a> topped the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=forbes+">Forbes</a> List of ‘The World’s Most Innovative Companies’, HUL was ranked 41, TCS at 64 and Sun Pharma stood at 71th position. 
 Elon Musk’s California-Based <keyword id="156689" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tesla-Motors">Tesla Motors</keyword> has a market capitalization of USD 25.5 billion. He inherited "Steve Jobs' mantle as the cult favourite CEO. And his electric car company has grabbed Apple's creative crown”. 
 
Forbes said companies are ranked by their innovation premium, which is the difference between their market capitalisation and a net present value of cash flows from existing businesses. 
 
Companies need seven years of public financial data and USD 10 billion in market cap to be included in the list. 
 On FMCG company, <keyword id="6365619" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindustan-UniLever">Hindustan Unilever</keyword>, Forbes said the company had over 35 brands spanning 20 distinct categories. 
 
Meanwhile, this is the eighth time that India's largest IT company TCS, with a market cap of USD 80.3 billion, has appeared on the list. The company took a major step toward bolstering its digital services when last month it announced a training program in digital technologies for a third of its workforce. 
 
Forbes stated that in the past year, TCS crossed the milestone of employing 100,000 women, meaning that one out of three employees is now a woman. 
 
For Sun Pharma, which had a market cap USD 39 billion and India's largest drugs company, this is the fourth time it has been included in the list. 
 
Billionaire Dilip Shanghvi - who owns more than half the company - pipped Mukesh Ambani earlier this year to become the richest man in India. 
 
The list also includes software company salesforce.com on the second spot, followed by Amazon (8), Hermes International (22), Netflix (27), MasterCard (36), Starbucks (45), Adobe (74), Coco Cola (81) and Cognizant (96).

Five Indian companies are among <keyword id="6373044" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Forbes">Forbes</keyword>' list of the world's 100 most innovative companies that investors think are most likely to "generate big, new growth ideas". The list includes firms like <keyword id="6365619" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hindustan-UniLever">Hindustan Unilever</keyword> and <keyword id="6357585" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tata-Consultancy-Services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS). 
 The annual 'World's Most Innovative Companies' list was released on August 20 (Wednesday). California-based global cloud computing company <keyword id="155484" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Salesforce">Salesforce</keyword> was spotted at the top position for the fourth year in a row. 
 
Other than consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever, which is ranked 14th, and IT major Tata Consultancy Services, which secured 57th rank, construction services firm <keyword id="45475" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Larsen-Toubro">Larsen &amp; Toubro</keyword> (<keyword id="6354919" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="LT">L&amp;T</keyword>) managed to stay at 58th position in the list. The two other Indian companies were pharma major <keyword id="44642" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sun-Pharma">Sun Pharma</keyword> Industries, which was seen at 65th number, and <keyword id="6359783" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bajaj-Auto">Bajaj Auto</keyword> secured 96th rank in the list. 
 
Mumbai-based company Hindustan Unilever recorded an innovation premium of 54.7%. On the other hand IT service firm TCS’s innovation premium was 39.58% and the company had a market cap of $71.25 billion as of May 2014. L&amp;T had an innovation premium of 39.4% and a market cap of $ 19.81 billion. Sun Pharma recorded an innovation premium of 38.34% and a market cap of $19.88 billion and Bajaj Auto’s innovation premium reached 31.73%. It registered a market cap of $10 billion. 
 
As per Forbes, the innovation premium is a measure of how much investors have bid up the stock price of a company above the value of its existing business based on expectations of future. 
 
With a market cap of $ 35.87 billion, Salesforce had an innovation premium of 75.9%. The company continued its reign as Forbes' most innovative company for the fourth straight year. 
 
Notably, the US was home to a majority of the firms on the list with 41 firms headquartered in the country. This was followed by Europe with 29 companies.

On Monday, RIL recorded its highest fall at 13% since October 2008 and its market cap fell to ₹7 lakh crore, losing its tag as India’s most valued company to TCS. As a result, Ambani lost $5.8 billion of his personal wealth on March 9, according to the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/billionaires/profiles/mukesh-d-ambani/">Bloomberg Billionaire Index. </a> While this index never placed Ambani amongst the top ten richest men like Hurun and Forbes, it said that Ambani also lost the richest Asian man tag to internet billionaire Jack Ma.  If he falls below Jack Ma, this means Ambani might have lost his place in other rich lists too which do not give out real-time data. Until two weeks back, Hurun calculated his <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/economy/hurun-global-rich-list-2020-bezos-retains-top-rank-mukesh-ambani-at-9th/article30920461.ece">riches at $67 billion as the ninth richest man along with Steve Ballmer, the former Microsoft head. </a> As per Hurun list, if Ambani’s place would have fallen below Jack Ma whose rank is at 21, then Ambani could have lost at least 12 ranks thanks to the stock fall. As Ambani controls almost 42% of Reliance Industries, his coffers are linked to the stock performance. As much as three-fifths of RIL’s operating profits come from oil and petrochemicals. The deal in question RIL’s fortunes are also tethered to the outcome of oil war and how well Saudi is successful in ‘stabilizing’ them. Investors fear Reliance Industries might not be able to close its $15 billion deal with Saudi state-owned company Saudi Aramco it announced in August last year. This deal is key to cutting down the massive $21 billion debt that the group has run up, Ambani has promised that he will turn RIL into a zero net debt company by 2021. However, even the Narendra Modi-led BJP government is throwing spokes in the wheel. The government filed a petition that sought a halt on the sale of stake, saying, RIL owed them money over its stake in Panna Mukta Tapti fields. Last month, <a href="https://thewire.in/law/shell-reliance-industries-english-high-court">Ambani won the case. </a>That however does not change the fact that Ambani’s throne is not as stable as it was, a few months back.
