TataNeu could be worth $15 billion all thanks to BigBasket, Croma and Westside

Adani Enterprises will be setting up a hyper-scale data centre at <keyword id="7009895" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengal-Silicon-Valley" source="Orion">Bengal Silicon Valley</keyword> in the New Town area in the northern outskirts of Kolkata, according to the West Bengal Commerce and Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee. "We have already allotted 51.75 acres of land for that purpose at Bengal Silicon Valley. The land is being allotted on the basis of a 99-year lease," he told media persons at the Assembly premises here on Monday. However, Chatterjee declined to comment on the quantum of investment that Adani Enterprises will be making behind that project. He was also silent on the number of direct employment that the proposed project will ensure. While addressing the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS)-2022, the annual event organised by the state government to showcase the state as an attractive business destination, in April, <keyword id="6367820" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="adani-group" source="Orion">Adani Group</keyword> Chairman <keyword id="111343" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gautam-adani" source="Orion">Gautam Adani</keyword> said that his group will invest Rs 10,000 crore in the state over the next ten years. Then he also said that this proposed investment will be in sectors like date centres, warehouses and under-sea cables. "This will provide direct and indirect employment to around 25,000 people. As we make these investments, we will bring in the state world class technology," he had said. According to Chatterjee, this hyper-scale data centre will be the first tranche of the investment of Rs 10,000 crore by Adani Group in the state. He also said that proposals for setting up four bicycle manufacturing units by four different companies at Kharagpur Vidyasagar Industrial Park in West Midnapore district have also been received by the state government. According to him, the four projects combined will entail investment to the tune of Rs 40 crore and will ensure employment to 140 individuals. Adani Group to set up hyper-scale data centre near Kolkata

The minor girl had complained that she was forced into a sexual relationship with her mother's paramour and selling her embryos eight times. Based on her complaint, the girl's mother, her lover, and an agent Malathi were arrested by Erode police. The Tamil Nadu health department had commenced an inquiry after the girl stated that she was taken to private hospitals in Erode, Salem, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. While two major hospitals in Erode and Salem are already under scanner, the state health department vigilance team has already commenced a probe into the private hospitals in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh regarding their connection in the case. A senior officer with the Tamil Nadu health department told IANS: "The investigation is on and we have already conducted searches at one private hospital each in Erode and Salem and further investigations are being conducted in association with the Tamil Nadu police to find out whether there are other instances of illegal sale of embryos. An investigation has revealed that the girl's mother had collected Rs 20,000 for each <keyword id="14132976" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="embryo-sale" source="Orion">embryo sale</keyword> and paid the agent Malathi Rs 5,000 as her commission. Police said that the girl was subjected to embryo sale eight times. Erode police sources told IANS that the investigation is being conducted to find out whether a large racket involving hospitals and touts is working to procure embryos for money exploiting vulnerable minor girls. India will have more ecommerce users by 2025 than US’ population

The cases were first reported in Kerala in 2021 when 13 students at a veterinary college in Wayanad tested positive for the infection.</li></ul>Kerala reported two confirmed cases of Norovirus amongst lower primary school students in Thiruvananthapuram on June 5. Health Minister Veena George warned that the virus is highly contagious. “Norovirus infection has been detected in two children and their health condition is stable. There is no need to be concerned at the moment but everyone should remain careful and maintain cleanliness,” George said in a statement. The bbnow service will sell over 3,000 products, the company said in a statement. Besides this, BigBasket would also be focusing on one hour delivery through bbexpresss within a 6 kilometre radius of the store. The bbexpress would offer over 8,000 products. The company will rely on its own dark stores for these operations. Dark stores are micro-fulfillment centres dedicated to rapid online order fulfillment. There is no cap on the number of products that one can order through these platforms, but typical order sizes average between 3-5 products and around ₹400 for the <keyword id="12724312" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="quick-commerce" source="Orion">quick commerce</keyword> deliveries, the company said. BigBasket will be a part of Tata Digital’s super app TataNeu. The Tata Enterprise company also emphasised that they have built a “massive” delivery network across India and it is constantly in expansion state. BigBasket launched a chain of offline stores in 2021 and 90 of them are already operational. The company now plans to launch 700 more such stores by the end of 2022. BigBasket was launched in 2010 as an online grocery supermarket. The company today covers an entire spectrum of grocery retail through quick-commerce, physical stores, alongside online grocery sales through the main BigBasket platform. “Apart from consumers who plan and buy their monthly groceries from bigbasket, there is a huge user base comprising those who make unplanned purchases, top-ups and impulse purchases. For impulse and emergency purchases, the bbnow service with its 10-20-minute delivery window is a great option…,” Hari Menon, cofounder and chief executive officer of BigBasket, said in a statement. After Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance and Tata Neu, India's $133 billion ecommerce market may be too little for a fifth player

<ul><li>The company is moving in the right direction in terms of growing sales and expected to reach EBITDA breakeven soon</li><li><keyword id="6357120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm" source="Orion">Paytm</keyword> is among the worst performers of 2022 so far as the stock has slipped 53% during the period.</li><li>Analysts at JP Morgan expect the share price to jump significantly by 60% to ₹1,000 per share.</li></ul>While Paytm is still struggling to make profits or even deliver positive returns to its shareholders, a brokerage firm believes that it will soon reach its breakeven with moderate expenses. Analysts at JP Morgan believe sustained improvement in the profit margins in the last two quarters at 35%, have set the stage. In the fourth quarter of last year, its profit margins stood at a healthy 35%. “We believe a sustained improvement in the profit margin contribution at PayTM seen over the last two quarters sets the stage for operating leverage Q2F23 onwards as indirect costs moderate - resulting in a consistent downtrend in adjusted EBITDA loss and an eventual path to breakeven,” said a report by JP Morgan. The company has been making losses for 11 years since its inception, and like most startups its acquisition costs have been high. However, most startup investors concentrate on unit economics — and improving profit margins which shows that its business can yield money, is comforting to its many nervous shareholders. In 2022, the Noida-based fintech company is among the worst stock performers as it slipped 53%. But the tide seems to be turning albeit slowly as per the brokerage firm. After a period of restriction, it reinstated an ‘overweight’ rating on the stock, and sees the share price increase by 60% to ₹1,000 per share. While the lending business is growing gradually, the losses in the segment indicate contained delinquencies in buy now pay later (BNPL) and merchant loans. “Lending business scale up, an increased contribution from devices and credit card sourcing should result in consistent quarterly improvement in contribution profits which should touch near 40% by the fourth quarter of 2023. A reduction in the adjusted EBITDA loss with better cost controls in indirect expenses will be a key fundamental stock driver,” said the report. Paytm also partnered with scheduled commercial banks and NBFCs to offer collateral-free instant loans of up to ₹5 lakh at low-interest rates and also offers a unique daily EMI product customized for small merchants. End of tunnel for high expenses on employee cost Paytm has been spending a large chunk of revenue in hiring professionals and in marketing expenses. Now that most of the roll out of employees is done, the indirect cost of employee hiring should start to moderate from July-September FY23. Reduction in costs is also a key factor in its path to profitability. Most startups end up spending heavily on customer acquisition as well as marketing. But Paytm has gained a market share of 15% in a very crowded market. It is now a recognizable brand – which can now aid its path to profitability. Paytm’s net loss widened by over 70% to ₹763 crore as expenses ate into its topline growth in Jan-Mar quarter 2022. The company informed exchanges at around 10 pm on June 6 that Yashish Dahiya, chairman and CEO of PB Fintech will sell up to 37 lakh equity shares via bulk deals. Since then, the stock went down by over 12% and its marketcap shrunk by around ₹3,000 crore or around $400 million since yesterday’ close, as per NSE data. Before the sale, Dahiya held a 5.45% stake in the company, which he received as ESOPs. Dahiya however would be selling his stake at a price lower than the company’s founders. In February, the co-founder of the company Alok Bansal sold 2.85 million shares for ₹236 crore at an average price of ₹825 apiece. In 2022 so far, the stock has slid 52% and is currently 40% below its IPO price. PolicyBazaar raised ₹5,709 crore via IPO in November 2021 which included fresh issue as well as offer for sale by promoters. Policybazaar is among the slew of tech companies that got listed in 2021 -- Zomato, Paytm and Nykaa. Unlike most of the companies that listed this year, PolicyBazaar’s investors enjoyed good listing gains of 17% on the issue price. PB Fintech’s business model to enjoy higher growth than other insurance players Analysts however believe the company is well placed to benefit from the rising insurance penetration in India, especially via digital distribution. “High growth, operating leverage, strong balance sheet and established brand recall among the Indian populace are its key business moats. This should help the company generate strong free cash flows as we expect its cost-to-income ratio to plateau ahead,” said a report by ICICI Securities. The brokerage expects the share price to grow to ₹940 per share. In FY20, PolicyBazaar was India’s largest digital insurance marketplace with 93% market share in terms of the number of policies sold. Also, 65% of all digital insurance sales in India in FY20 happened via PolicyBazaar. PolicyBazaar is largely into individual life insurance, retail health and motor insurance. This reflects in its overall revenues that doubled in three years between FY19 to FY21 at ₹606.9 crore.
