Tata Motors dominates the EV car market in December with Tiago leading the charge

<keyword id="19923700" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-power" source="keywords">Tata Power</keyword> on Saturday said it has collaborated with the <keyword id="19905539" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ayodhya-development-authority" source="keywords">Ayodhya Development Authority</keyword> (ADA) to deploy charging points in and around the city on crucial routes to accelerate the adoption of <keyword id="19895203" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles" source="keywords">Electric Vehicles</keyword> (EVs). The initiative strategically links <keyword id="6354931" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya" source="Orion">Ayodhya</keyword> with major cities nearby through the establishment of EV charging points. These points are situated along routes such as Ayodhya to Lucknow via National Highway (NH) 27, Ayodhya to Raebareli via NH 330, Ayodhya to Prayagraj via NH 330, and Ayodhya to Gorakhpur via NH 27, said the company. "These stations epitomise innovation and environmental stewardship and set the pace for our nation's journey towards Net Zero emissions. Together, we're shaping a sustainable tomorrow that benefits us all," said <keyword id="20372997" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="deepesh-nanda" source="keywords">Deepesh Nanda</keyword>, CEO and Managing Director, <keyword id="20372998" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-power-renewable-energy-limited" source="keywords">Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited</keyword>. With more than 80,000 home chargers, 5,300+ public, semi-public and fleet charging points, and more than 850 bus charging stations, Tata Power said it is at the forefront of driving the transition towards environment-friendly transportation. Tata Power deploys EV charging points on key routes to Ayodhya

<keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> on Tuesday said its electric vehicle arm has reduced prices of two models -- <keyword id="20563981" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nexon-ev" source="keywords">Nexon.ev</keyword> and Tiago.ev -- by up to Rs 1.2 lakh on account of reduction in battery cost. The auto major has cut the price of Nexon.ev by up to Rs 1.2 lakh and now the model price starts at Rs 14.49 lakh. Similarly, the company has reduced the prices of Tiago.ev by up to Rs 70,000 with the base model now starting at Rs 7.99 lakh, Tata Motors said in a statement. Introductory prices of the recently-launched <keyword id="20078457" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="punch-ev" source="keywords">Punch.ev</keyword> remain unchanged as they already factor in reduction in battery cost in the foreseeable future, it added. "Battery costs constitute a substantial part of the overall cost of an EV. "With battery cell prices having softened in the recent past and considering their potential reduction in the foreseeable future, we have chosen to proactively pass on the resulting benefits directly to customers," <keyword id="20078455" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-passenger-electric-mobility" source="keywords">Tata Passenger Electric Mobility</keyword> (TPEM) Chief Commercial Officer Vivek Srivatsa said. While EVs have grown rapidly over the last few years, the company's mission is to accelerate the mainstream adoption of EVs by making them more accessible nationwide, he added. EVs have shown a strong growth momentum and are substantially outperforming the overall passenger vehicle industry growth, Tata Motors said. In 2023, the EV segment grew by over 90 per cent against the 8 per cent growth recorded by the PV industry, it said. This growth momentum has continued in 2024 as well with EV sales registering a 100 per cent year-on-year growth in January 2024. TPEM with over 70 per cent market share is the leader in this fast-growing segment, the automaker stated. Tata Motors cuts EV prices by up to ₹1.2 lakh as battery cost dips

<keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> plans to commence production of electric vehicles at the Sanand plant, acquired from Ford India, from April this year, as per a top company official. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a unit of Tata Motors, acquired the facility from Ford India for Rs 725.7 crore in January last year. "We are planning to commence electric vehicle production at Sanand with <keyword id="20190169" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nexon" source="keywords">Nexon</keyword> EV from April," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles MD Shailesh <keyword id="19912128" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandra" source="keywords">Chandra</keyword> told PTI. The company has already commenced production of internal combustion engine-powered versions of the Nexon at the manufacturing plant with an installed capacity of 3 lakh units per annum. It can be further scaled up to 4.2 lakh units per annum. Chandra said the company is also looking to produce upcoming models at the facility. When asked about the company's product pipeline, he said that <keyword id="20290613" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="curvv-ev" source="keywords">Curvv EV</keyword> would be introduced around the second or third quarter of this calendar year. "We are also hoping that by the fag-end of this year, we should also be able to introduce Harrier EV and internal combustion engine (ICE) version of Curvv," Chandra said. On sales outlook for the next fiscal, he noted that the passenger vehicle industry is expected to grow by 5 per cent. "We have few launches planned, so will be targeting to grow better than the industry," Chandra stated. On the Budget wishlist, he stated that extending FAME benefits to personal electric cars would help in accelerating the growth of electrification in the country. Chandra noted that an increase in sales of electric cars was witnessed in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat when they offered incentives to the buyers. "Also, there is a problem of inverted duty structure in EVs that is also something that we have been asking," he noted. About talks on giving some concessions to a US-based EV major, Chandra said: "Our position is very simple that we are not worried about any specific competitor. Any player who is ready to participate in the EV space with upfront investment in localisation or charging infra development is welcome". He further said: "We are not afraid of the competition...we are effectively dealing with the competition, all we seek is a level playing field".
