"We are pleased to partner with PSMC, whose technology and expertise will significantly accelerate our roadmap to pioneer semiconductor manufacturing in India. It will position us to play a key role in the growing semiconductor market to serve global customers," Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said. The company is setting up a chip manufacturing unit in Dholera at an investment of up to Rs 91,000 crore ( about USD 11 billion). Out of the total 70 planes, there will also be 10 A321s and 53 A320 neos, the Vistara CEO said at a briefing. Among the 53 A320 neos, 10 planes will have all economy class and the rest will have three classes. Currently, the airline has a fleet of 53 aircraft. "We will continue to expand... more international routes (will be added)," Kannan said. Without disclosing the exact profit figure in the December quarter, the airline also said it crossed the USD 1 billion revenue mark and remained EBITDA positive in the current fiscal year. It has been edited for length and clarity.Up until I was in late elementary school, my understanding was that my family was rich, but I didn't know that we were <a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/bill-gates-steve-ballmer-billionaires-microsoft-stock-rich-list-wealth-2023-10">globally and historically rich</a>.I knew that my dad was a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/steve-ballmer-life-2014-5">big guy at Microsoft</a>, and I remember a kid asking me how many bathrooms my house had. Another kid randomly asked me, "Does your mom drive a Mercedes?" And I was like, "No, she drives a Ford Fusion."Growing up, we didn't get more expensive Christmas presents than most of the other upper-middle-class kids I knew. I got the new Gameboy one year, and in high school, I asked for a bench and a set of weights. Another year, my parents got us a ping pong table that we set up in the basement.<h2>My parents hated seeing us make stupid purchases</h2>Their approach toward money, in broad strokes, was: If it's something that you ultimately need, we can buy that for you. (I drove the neighborhood carpool and got paid in Chipotle gift cards — it was awesome.)What more does a teenage boy even need at that point?<h2>We didn't really talk about money</h2>There were some indications that we were rich. Our family took really nice vacations, but as a kid, there was a disconnect between things and how much they cost. I just thought, "Oh, I guess we're in Japan, now."For both my mom and my dad, having a lot of money was a relatively new experience, as was raising children. They raised us in line with how their parents raised them, and since they didn't grow up talking about wealth, they didn't talk about it with us, either.It was nice to just be a kid and not really think about it, but as I grew up, I started feeling pretty uncomfortable that I was in a wealthier family than any of my peers. I didn't like that people had presuppositions of what I was like purely based on that.My parents had an attitude of "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/photos-how-billionaire-children-spend-parents-fortunes-2018-10">rich kids</a> are too much, and we don't like that," which was in some ways harmful since I was a rich kid.But I started to derive pride from the fact that I wasn't as spoiled as I could be, that I didn't have gobs of money thrown upon me. People would say nice things about the way my brothers and I approached money.<h2>I worked summer jobs and internships to save up</h2>In elementary school, I got an allowance of $10 a week. I obviously didn't have any real need for it, and I'd forget to collect it from my mom probably over half the time.Middle school is when I started to actually want things that were more expensive. I read about a new phone, the Palm Pre, and wanted to buy it. My parents agreed that they would pay for the phone plan if I paid for the phone. I worked as a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-best-part-of-being-steve-ballmer-is-the-golf-2017-6">caddy at a golf course</a> near our house and saved up enough to buy it.The summer after 9th grade, I started a landscaping company with my friends. It's funny to look back on — we were just a bunch of well-to-do suburban children. Let's just say we weren't doing as good a job as your average landscaping company might.I also did a couple of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hardest-software-engineering-interviews-ranked-2023-12">software engineering</a> internships during high school and college, which I got — I feel it's important for me to say — without connections.My parents paid for all of my tuition and board in college, which is a lot of money. I used the money I saved from my internships to spend on things like meals out at restaurants, drinks at bars, occasional new clothes, and concerts.After graduating, I borrowed $1,000 from my parents for an international trip I'd planned with some friends. But that wasn't enough to cover it, so I borrowed another $1,000 from one of my roommates because I didn't want to ask my parents for more money. The experience of not wanting to go back to your parents to ask for more is pretty human and universal; you don't want to be viewed as irresponsible.<h2>Receiving an inheritance at 25</h2>After college, I never considered not having a job, so I became a product manager at a game development company.Then I <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/how-to-invest-inheritance-financial-planner-advice-2021-3">inherited</a> a sum of money from my grandfather when I turned 25. He had worked his way up to middle management at Ford and put the money he saved into Microsoft stock, which did pretty well and ended up being worth hundreds of thousands of dollars by the time I received it.When I first heard about it, I was a junior in college. My initial reaction was that I would decline it — I was still pretty uncomfortable with my family's wealth and figured I could get a pretty <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/highest-paying-tech-jobs-2019-college-grads-gen-z-2019-6">high-paying job in tech</a> and wouldn't need their money.But then I turned 25, and I didn't decline the money; in retrospect, that would have been a very silly decision.I'd also started doing standup comedy in college and continued doing it on the side while I worked. After about four years of working as a product manager, I quit to pursue comedy full-time.I'm now a paid regular at some comedy clubs in the Bay Area, and I've also done some festivals. I do around five shows a week in addition to an open mic or two, and I produce <a target="_blank" href="https://www.donttellcomedy.com/">Don't Tell Comedy</a> shows.Between what I get from my inherited investments and my income from comedy, my money has remained pretty stable because of my spending habits.<h2>I don't make many large purchases</h2>I don't make many purchases that are over a few hundred dollars. I don't buy <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/british-airways-new-york-london-flight-first-class-upgrade-review-2023-1">first-class plane tickets</a>, for example, and I don't get new or pricey clothing very often. I bought a new jacket recently that was $120 or something.I live in a two-bed, one-bath apartment with my girlfriend, and it's perfect for our purposes; it's no bigger than it has to be. I pay an embarrassingly high amount of money for my parking spot, though, because street parking in San Francisco can be tough, and I often leave a lot of expensive AV equipment in my car.I also pay out of pocket for my healthcare, go on pricey trips like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/i-escaped-burning-man-mud-apocalypse-climate-change-2023-9">Burning Man</a>, and make fairly substantial donations to causes that are significant to me.My financial management moment-to-moment is just kind of pragmatic. Is this all stuff that made sense for me to buy?<h2>It feels gross to ask parents for money at this age</h2>Neither of my brothers nor I have at any point <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-millennials-gen-z-money-habits-parents-financial-help-spending-2023-6">asked my parents for a notable sum of money</a>, and at no point have our parents given us a notable sum of money. Personally — and not knocking anyone else — that would feel kind of gross and pathetic. (Instead, I have the much more noble position of having inherited from my grandparents.)There are different ways to approach being <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trust-fund-dynastic-wealth-income-inequality-2019-3">born into wealth</a>. On one hand, you get kids like me who were kind of ashamed of it and downplayed it. The criticism here is there's some dishonesty, like I'm misrepresenting a huge thing about me if I'm not talking about it and letting people know.I don't really see it as dishonest, though, because people are multifaceted and much more complex than the sum of where they grew up. When did you figure out that you could also make money off your family?Blanco: Not that long after that. One thing my mother taught me was how to pivot. It's a full-circle moment, being on this podcast.Corben: And as much as Michael and his mother felt that something had been taken from them, remember, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ocala.com/story/news/2006/10/28/film-on-drug-trade-a-bootleg-hit/31173480007/">"Cocaine Cowboys" blew up because of the bootleg market</a>. They were sold in flea markets, barbershops, strip club bathrooms. Bootlegs of our movie was how it blew up.Blanco: I would autograph their movie. It blew my mind. I had a tattoo parlor, and people would come in with the bootleg and ask if I could autograph it. Let me put it to you more plainly: I remember being in federal detention, and someone snuck in a DVD, and with his back to the security camera, someone would come up to me and say, "Mr. Blanco, can you sign this for my wife?"Billy, how close were you to not just doing a "Cocaine Cowboys" documentary with the cooperation of Michael, but also getting Griselda on camera?Corben: Michael can answer that better than me.Blanco: We were one meeting away and around six figures.Corben: [Laughs.] Yeah. Some were depicted in the documentaries.Blanco: It was an offense that these stories were being let out of the bag.I assume you thought, "Who gives these people the right to tell the public what I know?"Blanco: Yeah. And now it's like, "Who the hell are you to tell me and Billy Corben about what went down? We're the fucking experts!"Billy, is that what led to making "The Real Griselda" podcast? Basically fact-checking the Netflix "Griselda" show?Corben: It was one of those things where it develops really slowly, and then something happens that just accelerates that plan. And what's amazing about this is we basically came up with the same idea at the same time. We were thinking late last year, independent of each other, that this "Griselda" thing was going to come out on Netflix. The marketing machine was already firing up, and it was apparent they were going to put a lot of juice behind pushing this series. We thought, what can we do? We knew there would be a great deal of creative license. We talk about how Sofia Vergara lights a huge pile of cocaine on fire that's stacked in an empty pool. I couldn't even zoom in and count the number of kilos; that's how many there were. Hundreds if not thousands of kilos, and she lights it on fire. And I asked Michael if she ever did that; that's like lighting hundreds of millions of dollars on fire. He said of course not. The Joker does it in "The Dark Knight" because he's an anarchist and insane. But Griselda was a businesswoman.Why is Griselda Blanco such a fascination for people? From the documentaries, the rap songs, the TV shows, the play, why has she become a fixture in pop culture?Corben: I think it starts with pop culture having a fascination with banditos and people we see as the villains. Ask any actor why they prefer to play the villain than the hero; they are just more interesting.I think the problem is when people reduce these characters to single dimensions. And that's what makes Griselda so compelling is that she is so multifaceted. She's one of the most successful cocaine traffickers in history. At the dawn of the modern industry she was a mother, a wife, a daughter, a grandmother, a godmother. What was Al Capone? He was a gangster. He was a bootlegger. There's not a lot to him. Do you believe that you went through all this because you were chosen to bring legitimacy to the Blanco name?Blanco: Thank you for that. 100%. I tell my two older boys that all the time. It's a common friend of ours who said, "Sometimes you have to remind people of your achievements," and I've had to remind myself of my achievements.I was part of that generational curse for so long. I speak about this in my book; as a 45-year-old man, I may not be the wisest, but I have lived what people don't live in two or three lifetimes. My brothers and mother would say all the time, "You have to show the face for the family. You have to make this shit legit."But in return, I was robbed of my innocence since I was a child. We have a saying in Colombia: "Innocence lost, a kilo for a life," and I believe all generational curses have been broken in my family's bloodline. I'm the first Blanco to bring legit money home and I'm so happy and proud of that. Even this podcast was 100% legit. In addition, he will continue in his leadership role at CureFit, the company said in a statement. "The CureFit partnership with its industry leading platform in fitness and wellness aligns very well with our overall healthcare proposition where fitness is increasingly becoming an <keyword id="1261040" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="integral-part">integral part</keyword> of a consumers' life," said <keyword id="161053" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="N-Chandrasekaran">N. Tata Digital set up its operations in August 2019, to build consumer centric digital businesses for deep consumer engagement and their needs across multiple verticals. Tata Digital to invest $75 million in fitness startup CureFit

A day after <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword>’s damaging e-mail tore through Tatas most legacy deals, <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> hit back at the ousted Chairman, saying all the claims were unsubstantiated. 
 
Tata Sons, in an e-mail, took on Mistry’s claim and said the group will reply in an appropriate manner. 
 “It is a matter of deep regret that a communication marked confidential to Tata Sons board members has been made public in an unseemly and undignified manner. The correspondence makes unsubstantiated claims and malicious allegations, casting aspersions on the <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata group</keyword>, the Tata Sons board and several Tata companies and some respected individuals. These will be responded to in an appropriate manner,” Tata Sons said in a statement. 
 
The statement comes after Mistry claimed he was just a ‘lame duck’ chairman and inherited a debt laden enterprise. 
 
Tata Sons took on Mistry and said the Group will respond in an appropriate manner to each and every claim made by Mistry.

It is a matter of deep regret that a communication marked confidential to Tata Sons board members has been made public in an unseemly and undignified manner. The correspondence makes unsubstantiated claims and malicious allegations, casting aspersions on the Tata group, the Tata Sons board and several Tata companies and some respected individuals. These will be responded to in an appropriate manner. 
 
Mr. Cyrus Mistry, the former Chairman of Tata Sons, has been on the Board of the Company since 2006. He was appointed Deputy Chairman in November, 2011, and formally appointed Chairman of Tata Sons on December 28, 2012. He would be fully familiar with the culture, ethos, governance structure, financial and operational imperatives of the Tata Group as well as various group companies. As the Executive Chairman, he was fully empowered to lead the group and its companies. It is unfortunate that it is only on his removal that allegations and misrepresentation of facts are being made about business decisions that the former Chairman was party to for over a decade in different capacities. The record, as and when made public, will prove things to the contrary. 
 
Efforts are now being made to level accusations against individuals and company boards for ignoring corporate governance norms that were supposedly upheld by the former Chairman while in office. The Tata Sons board gives its Chairman complete autonomy to manage opportunities and challenges. However, the tenure of the former Chairman was marked by repeated departures from the culture and ethos of the group. 
 
The Board of Directors of Tata Sons is composed of several eminent personalities from all walks of life. This is not a group of people who one would expect to act without exercising proper judgement in the best interests of the entities they sit on the boards of. It is unfortunate that Mr. Mistry had overwhelmingly lost the confidence of the Members of the Board of Directors for a combination of several factors. The Directors of the Tata Sons board had repeatedly raised queries and concerns on certain business issues, and Trustees of the Tata Trusts were increasingly getting concerned with the growing trust deficit with Mr. Mistry, but these were not being addressed. The Tata Sons board, in its collective wisdom, took the decision to replace its Chairman in the manner undertaken. 
 
The strength of the Group is not just confined to its value system and ethics in the Board room but to a very large extent by the adherence to the values by its 600,000 plus employees whose spirit and cooperation has built the Group to where it is today. It is unforgivable that Mr. Mistry has attempted to besmirch the image of the Group in the eyes of the employees. 
 
It will be beneath the dignity of Tata Sons to engage in a public spat with regard to the several unfounded allegations appearing in his leaked confidential statement. These allegations are not based on facts or the true state of affairs. It is convenient to put selective information in the public domain to defend one's point of view. There is a multitude of records to show that the allegations made by Mr. Cyrus Mistry are unwarranted and these records will be duly disclosed before appropriate forums, if and when necessary, sufficiently justifying the decision made by responsible Boards of Directors, of Tata Sons and its Group companies. 
 
The Interim Chairman in his first interaction with senior leaders has stressed to them the need to continue on focusing on building great businesses while emphasising on delivering strong shareholder returns. Board members of Tata Sons have in the past stressed on the need to be more decisively focused on bringing down debt, sharpening focus on both the portfolio and capital efficiency. 
 
The Tata Group is proud of its rich legacy of contributing to the growth of the nation. During a long history, it has faced many challenges and the employees of this group have worked hard to create great companies, and deliver shareholder value. The Tata way is to not run away from problems, or constantly complain about them, but firmly deal with them and build a better tomorrow.
