New Delhi, <keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> expects the industry sales growth of electric vehicles in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> to moderate to 40-45 per cent this year with the base becoming bigger, a top company official said on Wednesday. The company, which launched Punch.ev on Wednesday, plans to introduce four more EV models this year, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd &amp; Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. It is expecting to grow faster than the industry EV growth rate, he added. "Two years back, EVs were growing on a very low base. In the last calendar year, it had a growth of nearly 100 per cent but now the base is getting bigger. By the end of this financial year, it will be around 90,000 to 1 lakh. On this high base, I think the growth (industry) would moderate to about 40 per cent to 45 per cent," Chandra said. As for Tata Motors, he said with five EV products lined up for launch, the company expects to beat the industry growth rate. When asked about EV penetration in the overall sales of the company, he said, "Currently we are between 12 to 15 per cent. Fortunately, we are also growing in <keyword id="20088520" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ice" source="keywords">ICE</keyword> (<keyword id="20225695" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="internal-combustion-engine" source="keywords">Internal Combustion Engine</keyword>). So, the denominator keeps changing." In 2023, Tata Motors sold a total of 69,153 units of EVs. Further, he said, "In the next three years, we have taken a target of achieving 25 per cent of total sales with all the products that we are going to launch. 2024 should be around 15-17 per cent." Chandra said apart from Punch.ev, Tata Motors will launch the Curvv, Harrier EV, <keyword id="20225694" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sierra" source="keywords">Sierra</keyword> and Altroz EV this year, most of which are expected in the second half. Punch.ev has been launched with an introductory price ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh-14.49 lakh. It comes with two battery pack options - 25 kWh, offering a range of 315 km, and a 35 kWh option, which offers a range of 421 km on a single charge.

Tata Motors expects industry EV sales growth in India to moderate to 40-45% this year

Cavelossim (Goa), Domestic passenger vehicles sales, specially those of SUVs, are expected to remain strong this fiscal despite the pent-up demand and low inventory which drove up sales in the past are no longer there, according to <keyword id="12985777" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors-passenger-vehicles-ltd-" source="Orion">Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.</keyword> and <keyword id="12985776" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-passenger-electric-mobility-ltd-" source="Orion">Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.</keyword> Managing Director <keyword id="1890649" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shailesh-chandra" source="Orion">Shailesh Chandra</keyword>. The company, which sold around 50,000 units of electric passenger vehicles last year, is targeting to reach 1 lakh units this fiscal while it also targets deeper penetration of CNG with the launch of its Altroz iCNG premium hatchback. "So far the indicators are good in terms of demand sustaining at high levels, although the additional moves that we were getting from pent-up demand and low channel inventory that have subdued," <keyword id="796" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="chandra" source="Orion">Chandra</keyword> told PTI here. He was responding to a query on the outlook of passenger vehicles sales in India in 2023-24. In the last five to six months, Chandra said two factors -- pent-up demand and low channel inventory, were really driving the demand for the industry. "(Now) these two factors have gone but the key factor, which is the monthly demand that we generate, the flow of customers has sustained at a very healthy level, which is good enough to sustain a retail ability of about 3,10,000 a month (industry wise)," he added. Chandra further said, "Especially in the SUV segment, we are seeing a growth, which is significantly higher, as compared to where the industry growth will be. On the entry side, there has been a slight pressure that is what we see." The growth in the SUV segment has been driven at "a very high pace" by both upgraders and first time buyers opting for such vehicles, he added. In terms of volumes, he said, "Just two years back, we were talking about 2.7 million to 3 million (units for the) industry. It has gone up to 3.9 million (last year). Even if it sustains at a 4.1 million level (this year) it's very healthy, it should help the industry a lot." Chandra, however, added that the "unprecedented" growth of about 27 per cent that industry witnessed last year "will moderate a bit". For <keyword id="42747" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="Orion">Tata Motors</keyword>, he said the idea would be to sustain the segments where it is present -- hatchback and sedans, "and new nameplate additions should come in the SUVs. That will be the focus". The company's share of SUVs to its total passenger vehicle sales is at around 66 per cent as compared to 43 per cent of the industry, he said, adding, it would grow even further with the launch of Curvv and Sierra, which would be launched in the market in 2024 and 2025, respectively. On electric vehicles, Chandra said Tata Motors has witnessed exponential growth in the last five years to 50,000 units last fiscal from around 500 units in FY19 "The growth journey has been exponential. Now we are on a higher base...the multiples might moderate from three-four times to lower levels, but of course the aspiration would be to be as close to 100,000 (units)," he noted. On the newly launched CNG version of the company's premium hatchback Altroz iCNG, he said the company has addressed one of the most important hurdles faced by CNG models, which is the compromise in the boot space due to the placement of the fuel cylinder, with its twin cylinder technology. Besides, the Altroz iCNG has been provided with good engine performance and premium features like voice command operated sunroof, he added When asked about sales expectations from the new car, he said Tata Motors experienced CNG penetration ranged anywhere between 30 per cent to 50 per cent in its two models Tiago and Tigor, which also have the twin cylinder technology. "Therefore, we expect that initially it might start with 30 per cent penetration and hopefully with greater awareness of this car (Altroz iCNG) being a no-compromise CNG car, as the awareness will increase, I think the demand will continue to grow," Chandra said. Domestic passenger vehicles sales expected to stay strong this fiscal, says Tata Motors' Chandra

India’s electric charging infrastructure is far away from reaching the critical mass. Yet, that is not stopping auto makers from announcing and launching electric cars. The Indian government has set a <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/auto/car-news/government-finally-wakes-up-sets-a-realistic-goal-of-30-electric-vehicles-by-2030-from-existing-100-target/1091075/">target</a> to turn 30% of total new vehicle sales electric by 2030. At the Auto Expo 2020 in Greater Noida, auto makers revealed their plans for upcoming electric vehicles and showcased concept vehicles for the future. Mahindra, MG, Tata and Volkswagen are among the companies that revealed their plans for upcoming electric vehicles in India. Top upcoming electric cars in India Mahindra eKUV100 The Mahindra eKUV100 was launched at the Auto Expo 2020 with a price tag of ₹8.25 lakh, making it the most affordable EV in the country. It looks identical to its petrol variant and was first showcased during the Auto Expo 2018. The eKUV100 is powered by a 40 kW electric motor that can develop 53 bhp and 120Nm of peak torque. It is powered by a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that is claimed to provide a range of 150 km on a single charge. <keyword id="8725394" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahindra-exuv300">Mahindra eXUV300</keyword> - a long range vehicle The Mahindra eXUV300 is next in line in the electric vehicle segment from the company and is a tad more premium than the eKUV100. It is built on the existing XUV300 platform and is expected to be available in 2021. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 in two variants – standard and extended range. It is powered by a 40 kWh battery capable of delivering a 300 km range on a single charge. The battery has been developed by Mahindra Electric in association with LG Chem. MG <keyword id="8723870" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="marvel-x">Marvel X</keyword> - the showstopper The MG Marvel X was the company’s showstopper at the Auto Expo 2020. The company has claimed that it is the world’s first mass produced vehicle with integrated internet, electric, and level-3 autonomous driving capabilities. It is currently sold as the Roewe Marvel X by the company’s parent SAIC group. It is powered by a 52.5 kWh battery that can be charged in 8.5 hours and a single charge will provide a range of 400 km. The three motors on the car can develop a combined output of 302hp and 665Nm of peak torque. It has a top speed of 170 kmph and can do 0-100 kmph in 3.1 seconds. The company has not revealed when the car will be launched in India and it will likely depend on how the MG ZS EV performs in the country. <keyword id="8723718" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Funster">Mahindra Funster</keyword> Concept - a thrilling roadster The Mahindra Funster Concept was the highlight of Mahindra at the auto show. It has been designed by its Design Studio in Mumbai. It is a convertible roadster electric vehicle concept that has a top speed of 200 kmph. As per Mahindra, the Funster is "a thrilling roadster electric concept with a playful convertible mode, nothing short of being an object of desire". It is powered by a 59.1 kWh battery pack with a range of 520 km on a single charge. Volkswagen ID. <keyword id="4431588" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="crozz">Crozz</keyword> EV concept - twin electric motors The Volkswagen ID. Crozz EV concept was the only electric car from the German automaker at the Auto Expo 2020. It is powered by twin electric motors that can develop a combined output of 306PS and a peak torque of 320Nm. As per the company, the ID. Crozz has a top speed of 180 kmph and can do 500 km on a single charge. Tata Motors announced the launch of its updated 2020 Harrier at Auto Expo 2020. It also showcased a 7-seater Gravitas, the pre-production HBX Subcompact SUV and the Sierra Electric SUV concept. “The theme of our pavilion is a thoughtful representation of what India needs, how Tata Motors can contribute, and how we as the Tata Group are taking the lead in providing a transformative ecosystem solution in India. The BS6 Harrier is priced starting at ₹13.69 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at ₹16.25 lakh. It sports a 2.0-litre multijet engine capable of developing 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It sports an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, JBL sound system with nine speakers, automatic climate control and a sunroof. It is a revamped version of its Ather 450 and brings a bigger battery, increased power and range. It is powered by a 6 kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It has a 2.9 kWh Li-ion battery that gives it a range of 75 km in ride mode and 85 km in Eco mode. The Ather 450X has been priced at ₹99,000 and the buyer can select from one of the monthly subscription plans for access to charging points. The Plus plan is priced at ₹1,699 per month and the Pro plan is priced at ₹1,999 per month. Buying one of the two plans gives you free charging at Ather Grid points. It is priced at ₹1.5 lakh and is currently available in Karnataka only. It is powered by a 4.4 kW electric motor and has a top speed of 78 kmph.  The Vespa Elettrica is a premium electric scooter that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Piaggio, the company behind Vespa hasn’t launched the electric scooter in India yet - but said that it plans to do so, soon. The Vespa Elettrica is identical to the Bajaj Chetak in terms of design and features the same neo-retro look. It has a round headlamp, contrast colour air vents, a 4.3-inch digital instrument panel and smartphone connectivity. It is powered by a 4kW motor and has two riding modes – Power and Eco. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 4 hours and a single charge will give a range of up to 100 km.  The Hero AE-29 was showcased during the Auto Expo 2020. It has a top speed of 55 kmph and can be charged in under four hours. As per the company, the scooter will have a range of 80 km on a single charge. The company has dubbed the AE-29 as the first IOT-enabled scooter.  Hero has showcased a unique three-wheeled scooter which is also known as a trike. The trike, dubbed as Hero Electric AE-3 will be the first such vehicle to be launched in India. The Hero Electric AE-3 is powered by a 5.5kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It is equipped with a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be fully charged in 5 hours and has a range of 100 km. Other features on the AE-3 include geofencing, real-time tracking, fully digital instrument cluster and reverse assist. Greater Noida, Feb 5 () Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday said Tata Motors will launch at least four more products in the next 18-24 months with focus on sustainability and electric vehicles. The company is focusing on - CESS: connected, electric, shared and safe - as the future of mobility. "Tata Motors is pushing the envelope with other group companies on safety... We have launched two models since we unveiled Tigor in 2017, and Nexa last week, at least four more products will be coming in the next 18-24 months," Chandrasekaran said. He added that Tata Motors is working with seven other group companies, and expects to invest continuously to expand its endeavours to drive electric vehicles and sustainable mobility in India. Tata Motors on Wednesday announced four global unveils, a pre-production preview and a commercial launch at the Auto Expo here. It launched the Harrier which will be priced Rs 13.69 lakh onwards for manual and Rs 16.25 lakh for automatic variant. It also showcases the pre-production version of its Gravitas SUV that is scheduled to be launched in the first half of FY2021. The company will allow test drive of its Nexon EV, besides showcasing the new Winger and Prima. Tata Motors also unveiled the HBX Show car based on ALFA ARC architecture, and the Sierra EV concept as well as the Hexa Safari edition. The company also plans to roll out an electric low-floor bus and an electric truck. Tata Motors is showcasing a lineup of 26 new products, including 14 commercial and 12 passenger vehicles. The car is expected to be launched in India on February 26 with a price tag of around ₹80 – ₹90 lakh. The Vellfire will be equipped with a BS6-compliant 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid petrol engine that develops 180 PS of power and 235 NM of Torque. As the car will be imported under the relaxed homologation rule, the company will be able to bring a maximum of 2,500 units each year. Toyota C-HR - Above ₹20 lakh
