Neu will challenge Flipkart, Amazon, and Jio platforms in the digital e-commerce space. The company has made the announcement with a teaser image on the Google Play Store page. The first public advertisement of the Neu was seen along with the ongoing Indian Premier League cricket tournament. Tata Neu — everything you need to know Tata Neu is a unified platform that will connect multiple brands across the Tata universe of products and services. According to the company, this super app will offer everything from electronics, finance solutions, grocery, flights, holidays, and more such services. Each brand on Tata Neu will be connected by a common reward called NeuCoins, which can be earned and redeemed across all Tata brands and at physical stores. The company added that users can make payments across multiple Tata brands by using NeuCoins, UPI, cards, and other modes. Additionally, you can send money to friends and family using Tata Pay UPI. Before the launch of Neu, this super app was made available to the Tata employees for testing. Tata’s super app ‘Neu’ is all set to launch this week — here’s what to expect

The bbnow service will sell over 3,000 products, the company said in a statement. Besides this, BigBasket would also be focusing on one hour delivery through bbexpresss within a 6 kilometre radius of the store. The bbexpress would offer over 8,000 products. The company will rely on its own dark stores for these operations. Dark stores are micro-fulfillment centres dedicated to rapid online order fulfillment. There is no cap on the number of products that one can order through these platforms, but typical order sizes average between 3-5 products and around ₹400 for the <keyword id="12724312" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="quick-commerce" source="Orion">quick commerce</keyword> deliveries, the company said. BigBasket will be a part of Tata Digital’s super app TataNeu. The Tata Enterprise company also emphasised that they have built a “massive” delivery network across India and it is constantly in expansion state. BigBasket launched a chain of offline stores in 2021 and 90 of them are already operational. The company now plans to launch 700 more such stores by the end of 2022. BigBasket was launched in 2010 as an online grocery supermarket. The company today covers an entire spectrum of grocery retail through quick-commerce, physical stores, alongside online grocery sales through the main BigBasket platform. “Apart from consumers who plan and buy their monthly groceries from bigbasket, there is a huge user base comprising those who make unplanned purchases, top-ups and impulse purchases. For impulse and emergency purchases, the bbnow service with its 10-20-minute delivery window is a great option…,” Hari Menon, cofounder and chief executive officer of BigBasket, said in a statement. Tata's BigBasket is finally joining Swiggy, Blinkit in 10-minute grocery delivery

Indian e-commerce is booming and grocery is the hottest segment within that. While everyone from Amazon and JioMart to DMart and Grofers use discounts as the primary luure, a recent research report says that BigBasket is leading the pack despite offering lesser discounts compared to most other players. This would be music to the ears of executives at the Tata Group, which bought BigBasket in May 2021 for an <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/startups/tata-says-acquired-a-majority-stake-in-online-grocery-bigbasket/articleshow/83029366.cms">undisclosed amount</a>, with the goal of adding it to its up and coming super app Tata Neu. According to the report, BigBasket has about 9 million monthly active users, compared to JioMart and DMart’s 5 million each. Though the company has a discount rate of about 14%. JioMart and DMart, on the other hand, offer discounts at a good 17-18%. Given that movement restrictions have been eased, we are rolling back grocery delivery and focusing on offerings like <keyword id="9167642" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy-Genie">Swiggy Genie</keyword> where consumers can shop from any store in the city including groceries &amp; essentials or pick-up and drop-off packages,” said a Swiggy spokesperson. However, not everything will be toned down. The $3.6 billion startup said that it will continue to focus on meat, seafood, petcare gourmet and its essential delivery service Instamart, which delivers products like groceries, fresh fruits &amp; vegetables, personal care items among other things. “With a delivery promise of 30 to 45 minutes, Instamart is rapidly becoming a favourite among consumers (in Bangalore and Gurgaon) while unlocking a new dimension of convenience retailing in India,” said the spokesperson. Even though Swiggy operates food delivery services in 500 cities, it has said that it will restrict grocery to about 20 cities. “Pre-COVID, 80% of Swiggy’s business was food delivery, and the remaining came from other segments. The company expects this ratio to change to 50-50 in the next 2 to 3 years, with increased contribution from grocery, cloud kitchen, etc,” said a Goldman Sachs report from November, 2020. Interestingly, Swiggy’s rival <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword>, which had also forayed into grocery delivery with the Zomato Markets feature had earlier said that it was scaling down the service. Analysts at Goldman Sachs expect JioMart to have a 50% market share of India’s online grocery segment by FY25. And here’s why they are bullish about the company’s growth. JioMart’s foray into areas others have refrained from Ambani’s e-commerce bet made a soft launch in December 2019 in select areas of Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan. But as the coronavirus lockdown began and the opportunities in e-grocery became more evident, JioMart was quick to act and expanded to over 200 cities. And this gives it an edge over others – its presence across India and offline-to-online approach by partnering with kirana stores. India’s kirana retail network of millions of stores remains the primary source of sales for grocery across the country. It has also become the object of fascination for the likes of Amazon, Flipkart. “India has 10 million kirana stores, which account for 90% of grocery retail. JioMart has already launched in more than 200 cities, leveraging Reliance Retail’s store network, with kirana partnerships across 20 cities,” said the Goldman Sachs report. JioMart’s expansion comes even as its competitors like Grofers and Swiggy have limited their presence. Grofers, which is present in 30 cities, sees most of its revenue come in from the top four or five cities. “Even Swiggy, which operates a food platform across 500 cities, mentioned it will restrict grocery to about 20 cities,” said the report. During its first quarter (April-June) earnings report, Reliance had said that JioMart clocked big numbers during the lockdown – over 400,000 orders on a single day. In the second quarter, the company said that JioMart continues to scale-up rapidly with a consistent increase in daily customer orders. The Goldman Sachs report showed that the new app downloads for JioMart in recent weeks have been double than BigBasket and Grofers put together. <div type="image" title="Jiomart downloads." msid="79054710" hostid="261"></div> Even while the analysts at Goldman Sachs noted that downloads don’t necessarily translate to transactions on the app, they said, “it is an indicator of initial customer engagement, which can translate into future market share.” JioMart + WhatsApp integration boost? Another advantage lying on JioMart’s side is its possible integration with WhatsApp. During Facebook’s $5.7 billion investment in Reliance in April, it was clear that Reliance Retail would be leveraging WhatsApp’s existing large user base in India to reach out to new customers. In return, WhatsApp Pay’s possible integration with JioMart will give Facebook the much-needed kickoff for its payments feature. “RIL’s foray into the space leveraging its large ofﬂine distribution capabilities, and integration of ability to order groceries through WhatsApp, a platform with &gt;400 mn MAUs in India,” said the report about Reliance’s stronghold in grocery. Tapping newer avenues Meanwhile, JioMart is also expanding beyond groceries; it has recently forayed into fashion, consumer electronics. And it's experiments with fashion came right before the festive season – with Diwali around the corner.
