The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has set targets for net zero carbon emissions by 2050. TCS collaborates with Rolls-Royce for hydrogen research programme

The Global 2000 ranks the largest companies in the world using four metrics: sales, profits, assets, and market value, Forbes said while releasing the 2023 ranking of the world's top 2,000 companies. JPMorgan, America's biggest bank with USD 3.7 trillion in assets, is at the top of the list for the first time since 2011 and has emerged stronger from this spring's regional banking crisis, with more deposits and opportunistic acquisition of the failed First Republic Bank, it said. <keyword id="6358963" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="warren-buffett" source="Orion">Warren Buffett</keyword>'s Berkshire Hathaway that topped the list last year, fell to the 338th position in the latest list due to unrealised losses in its investment portfolio. Reliance climbs 8 spots to 45th rank on Forbes' Global 2000 list

Consulting firms were the top recruiters in the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta final placement for the 58th batch of the two-year MBA programme followed by <keyword id="25455" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="finance" source="Orion">finance</keyword>, sales and marketing companies, a statement issued by the institute said. The final placement drive which concluded on February 24, secured 573 offers for the entire 58th batch. The process was conducted in a hybrid mode, it said. The consulting sector recruited the highest (232 offers), followed by the Finance sector (86 offers), and the two sectors accounted for 55.5 per cent of the total hires, the statement said. Leading consulting firms like Accenture Strategy, Bain &amp; Co, Boston Consulting Group, Kearney and McKinsey &amp; Co, were the top recruiters in the consulting sector. Sales &amp; Marketing (52 offers) and General Management (82 offers) combined accounted for 23.4 per cent of total hires, with companies like Aditya Birla Group, <keyword id="462960" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-administrative-services" source="Orion">Tata Administrative Services</keyword>, Vedanta, etc, being amongst the top recruiters in this sector. Top software services and E-commerce brands continued their strong showing accounting for nearly 18.2 per cent of hires. Tata Sons chairman Chandrasekaran bestowed with France's highest civilian award

This will be available for commercial development starting January 2022. "<keyword id="6357585" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) brings its global system integration expertise and helps align the end-to-end solution to both 3GPP and O-RAN standards, as the network and equipment are increasingly embedded into software," it said. Airtel will pilot and deploy the indigenous solution as part of its 5G rollout plans in India and begin the pilot in January 2022, as per the norms formulated by the government. "These 'Made in India' 5G product and solutions are aligned to global standards, and inter-operate with other products based on standard open interfaces and those defined by the O-RAN Alliance," the statement said. The 5G solutions, once commercially proven in Airtel's diverse and brownfield network will open export opportunities for India, which is now the second-largest telecom market globally, it added. Bharti Airtel and TCS to take on Reliance Jio with 'Made in India' 5G network solution

Tata Sons chairman <keyword id="97017" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="n-chandrasekaran" source="Orion">N Chandrasekaran</keyword> is learnt to have discussed the engagement of outgoing <keyword id="6357150" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tcs" source="Orion">TCS</keyword> MD and CEO <keyword id="1422411" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajesh-gopinathan" source="Orion">Rajesh Gopinathan</keyword> with the group beyond September 15 in an advisory role, according to sources from <keyword id="6355725" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tata-group" source="Orion">Tata Group</keyword>. Tata Sons and IT behemoth Tata Consultancy Services declined to comment on the development. Tata Group sources, who did not wish to be identified, told PTI that there have been preliminary discussions between the two as the group needs reliable and experienced hands with its diversification into various technology domains. "Chandrasekaran has discussed with <keyword id="221979" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gopinathan" source="Orion">Gopinathan</keyword> his engagement with Tata Group in an advisory role after his notice period ends on September 15. There has been preliminary discussion," a source at one of Tata Group technology firms said. Gopinathan during his press conference said that he has no immediate plans to engage with Tata Group in advisory roles. "As far as advisory roles go, my respect for advisors is exponentially growing. So, I will see whether something comes out of that. But as of now no plans," he had said. Chandrasekaran, who has worked with Gopinathan for almost 25 years, appreciates the contributions the latter has made to the growth of TCS. During Gopinathan's tenure, TCS added over USD 10 billion in incremental revenues and over USD 70 billion increase in market capitalisation. He also helped TCS cross a trailblazing net profit mark of Rs 10,846 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. Under his leadership, TCS' brand value increased by 212 per cent to USD 45.5 billion in the past two years. Discussion at Tata Group on to engage Gopinathan beyond September 15

As per the update, its offer for sale component will consist of 95 million shares in its upcoming initial public offer (IPO). Its parent company, Tata Motors, will sell most of these shares in the OFS segment. It will offload 81 million shares – that’s 20% of the stake it owns in the company. Tata Motors holds over 74% stake in the company. Alpha TC Holdings will offload 9 million shares accounting to 2.4% of its holdings. Tata Capital Growth Fund I will sell 4.8 million shares representing up 1.20% of its holdings. No other details like the time of the IPO, its size, price band etc has been revealed yet. JM Financial, Citigroup Global Markets India, and BofA Securities India are the book running lead managers to the issue. After a gap of 19 years… Tata Technologies is the first group company to go public in 19 years. TCS listed on the bourses in 2004. This year, two other conglomerates – Reliance Industries and JSW also brought their group companies onto the markets. Jio Financial Services listed in late August, while JSW Infrastructure stock debuted in early October. Tata Technologies is a subsidiary of Tata Motors and is engaged in the business of providing engineering services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It offers product development and digital solutions, including turnkey solutions, to global OEMs and their tier 1 suppliers. “The company has deep domain expertise in the automotive industry and leverages this expertise to serve clients in adjacent industries, such as in aerospace and transportation and construction heavy machinery,” the company said in its DRHP. According to consulting firm Zinnov, global engineering, research and development (ER&amp;D) spending was at approximately $1.64 trillion as of 2021. It expects it to grow to approximately $2.28-2.33 trillion by 2025. “Tata Technologies has been recognized as a domain expert and leader by Zinnov for several sectors like automotive, aerospace and electrification services,” the company’s DRHP said.

Tata Motors to offload 20% stake in the upcoming Tata Technologies IPO

Fakir Chand Kohli, the founder and the first CEO of <keyword id="6357585" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS), passed away on Thursday after reportedly suffering a heart attack. He was 96. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, Kohli is called the 'Father of Indian IT Industry' and is credited for pioneering the technology revolution in India. Mourning the passing of Kohli, TCS, in statement, noted that Kohli joined the company in 1969 at the behest of J.R.D. Tata. He pivoted the first into management consultancy, and then over the next two decades, into software development, helping the organisation navigate multiple technology waves over two and a half decades by continually investing in people and staying relevant to customers, it said. Kohli stepped down as TCS' CEO in 1996 and continued to play an active role in promoting technology to solve the country's social problems. <keyword id="46894" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said: "I am deeply saddened by the news that Mr F.C. Kohli passed away this afternoon. Our condolences to his family." He was the President of NASSCOM during 1995-96. Kohli was born in Peshawar, where he did his schooling and did his college-level education in Lahore. Tata Consultancy Services has topped the <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword>'s latest list of top companies to work for in India, followed by <keyword id="6370971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="accenture" source="Orion">Accenture</keyword> and <keyword id="28721" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cognizant" source="Orion">Cognizant</keyword> in the second and third place respectively. Professional networking platform LinkedIn on Tuesday released the 2024 Top Companies list for India wherein <keyword id="6357647" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="it-companies" source="Orion">IT companies</keyword> bagged the top three ranks, while <keyword id="6354241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="Orion">financial services</keyword> firms dominated the list with 9 out of 25 companies from this sector. The 8th edition has derived insights from LinkedIn data, and lists the top 25 large companies, 15 best mid-size companies, and provides insights on in-demand skills, top locations, and the largest job functions within these companies. Amongst large companies (500+ employees in India), Tata Consultancy Services retained its top spot this year, followed by Accenture and Cognizant. Continuing the trend from last year, financial services dominated the 2024 list with 9 out of 25 companies from this sector including Macquarie Group (4th place), Morgan Stanley (5th), and JPMorgan Chase and Co (6th), LinkedIn said. Software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform Lentra ranked first on the list of top mid-size companies list (250-500 employees), followed by Indian online travel platform MakeMyTrip. The list also featured fashion and beauty retailer Nykaa and fantasy sports platform Dream11, showcasing the wide range of opportunities available in diverse industries for job seekers in India. "The in-demand skills that the top companies are looking for in the financial services sector include investor relations, capital markets, and investment banking. Companies in the technology sector are looking for skills such as enterprise software, data storage technologies, software development life cycle (SDLC), and artificial intelligence (AI)," the data revealed. Revenue analysis, nonprofit management, and mobile application development are some of the other skills that are witnessing a surge in demand, it added. Silicon valley of India, Bengaluru was named the top location where these top companies are based and looking to hire talent, followed by Hyderabad, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and Pune. LinkedIn said the ranking of companies is based on eight pillars that have been shown to lead to career progression such as the ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country.

Ratan Tata-backed energy distribution startup <keyword id="1598562" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="repos" source="Orion">Repos</keyword> is expected to grow by close to three-fold to Rs 185 crore in the current fiscal on account of increased traction for its service among business-to-business clients, a top official of the firm said. <keyword id="8449067" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="repos-energy" source="Orion">Repos Energy</keyword> founder and CVO Aditi Bhosale Walunj told PTI at the Auto Expo 2023 that the company is in the process of raising Rs 300 crore to fund expansion of business across India as well as a platform to offer carbon-neutral fuels such as ethanol and electric vehicle chargers. "We have been fortunate enough to have Mr Ratan Tata as our initial investor. Last fiscal year we did business of Rs 65 crore. Our business has been growing multifold. This fiscal we expect our top line to be around Rs 185 crore," Walunj said. She said that the company's fuel distribution platform is mainly built around the delivery of diesel but it is now adding new fuels to the platforms to make it available at the doorsteps of end consumers with the help of technology. "Like ATMs, we are providing mobile fuel stations. It is helpful for enterprises to get fuel at the doorstep, check fuel theft, monitor fuel consumption etc. We are now present in 280 cities across India where we have deployed over 2,000 mobile fuel stations. Now we are in the process of raising Rs 300 crore which we will use to further expand our presence and develop technology for the distribution of carbon neutral fuels," Walunj said. While the Fed is positive that it won’t need to step in and adjust interest rates before 2023, some feel that may be too optimistic a point of view. “Very low interest rates, which have held down debt service costs, will eventually rise despite the Federal Reserve’s commitment to an extended period of extremely accommodative monetary policy,” said global agency <a href="https://www.fitchratings.com/research/sovereigns/us-stimulus-will-boost-growth-at-cost-of-higher-deficits-debt-09-03-2021">Fitch Ratings. </a> This is supported by the fact that Fed Funds Futures — where investors can purchase funds in advance at prices they expect to see in the future — are beginning to signal that the US’ central bank could begin increasing rates in 2022. According to DataTrek co-founder <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/us-stocks-are-on-the-verge-of-a-correction-as-interest-rates-begin-to-rise-datatrek-says/articleshow/81094483.cms">Nicholas Colas</a>, the odds of the Federal Reserve shifting its policy stance next year has gone from 2% to anywhere between 5% to 10%. That doesn’t necessarily mean that inflation is on the move, but the trend is “clearly not our friend.” “This means inflation is likely to be a risk well into 2022. Good news of Indian IT services’ companies The rate hike in the US may lead to outflow of dollars from India, and make the rupee weaker, which will, in turn make imported commodities like crude oil more expensive and thereby, hurt a whole lot of businesses. Only for select companies like the software exporters, a stronger dollar will lead to better earnings in rupee terms.
